Okay so I don’t write reviews often but this place was off the charts amazing. We ordered the meat pies, zatar and cheese bread and a hummus and let me just say my husband and I were shocked at how amazing everything tasted. We literally went in 11 minutes before close and yet everything was soooo fresh. The staff was extremely kind and when we told them the food was amazing, while we were heading out, the owner handed us two pieces of baklava for free of charge because we’re new to the city and we were new to their shop. Honestly, this place is a gem. I’m a foodie. I travel the world quite a bit and I try all sorts of amazing foods and this place is in my top foods. The price, customer service and food, everything was just spectacular. I will be back like every week. Please go and try them out or you’ll miss out!

I've just come across this place. Pure fate and what a beauty of a day to find such a gem. I walked in and was greeted by the owner who was coming out from the kitchen with a flat bread with meat on it...cut up like a pizza so that customers could try. I did....and usually I'd swear here but out of respect I'll just say this was easily one of the tastiest thing I've ever had. EVER! I am a cook by trade and I'd like to think I've tried quite a bit of food from all over...this was easily one of the tastiest things that I have ever had. Seasoned to perfection meat on a most perfect Flatbread...served with a big fat juicy wedge of lemon. I can not wait to come back and try everything! I'm so so....sooo happy I found this place. Thankyou

I really wanted to try this place and when I did I was extremely disappointed. I heard that they have really good meat pies and pita bread. We ordered meat pies to go since you can no longer eat there because of Covid-19 and we also purchased some pita bread. First the meat pies were taste less and very very oily. To the point oil was dripping everywhere. It was just gross. We needed the pita bread for our dinner that night and when brought home bread it smelled awful. We were told that they were baked fresh that day, which definitely was not true. To top it all off we were also overcharged for meat pies and the bread, as they charged as for an incorrect quantity of products. To sum it up I will not be returning here.

Since moving to BC 10 years ago, I just visited Calgary again after a 4-year absence. Not having anything close to the kind of food you get in Calgary when it comes to Middle-Eastern flavours, I was looking forward to my favourite pita place. The meat pie is as outstanding as ever and although the price has risen quite a bit, the size of the pie is the same and the freshness and flavour first-class. I’ve tried duplicating the taste at home but it’s just not the same thing. The personnel are lovely and the store has lots of interesting items. Another great mainstay that is run by the same people and has the consistency and staying power we support and love. Thumbs up!!

Visited on a recommendation for a meat and cheese pie. I arrived and I had a great chat with the fellow behind the counter. He offerred the meat pie and add cheese as a first time visitor. I ordered 3 for the others I was getting them for. Turn around time is quick. Within the 5 mins being there, 15 other people had come in. There was no stacking of people waiting. All orders came out fast. They then offerred home made hot sauce and olives to take with me. When I got hime and tasted the pies, they are delicious. The hot sauce added a zip and tang that complemented wonderfully. Will be visiting again and would recommend anyobe else to try it.

This place is legendary ! I. Primarily we came for the meat pies, but everything village pita makes is delicious. About 4 years ago I started coming back to this place only now with my children and husband . This place hasn't changed one bit. Food is delicious, the ownership is the same (the same wonderful family own and operate this business) and the prices are practically the same! Hands down best bang for your buck. Honest work..... honest price. That's why this place is always busy. Check it out. When I ask the family what should we go for.... the answer is akways " mom , can we go to to village pita"

  • Abdullah A

Amazing and very underrated family owned bakery. I have been coming here nearly my entire life and the quality of their food has remained incredible through good times and through bad. Pita bread is fresh and absolutely delicious, and their meat pies are hands down one of the most delicious lunches I’ve ever had. There’s sometimes a bit of a wait, but really it’s not a big deal and completely understandable seeing how busy they usually are. You can even order many of the dishes frozen, and keep them at home for lunch or dinner throughout the week. Love everything about this place.

I haven’t had any meat pies since I’ve moved here from Ontario In 2018. Being pregnant I started craving it out of no where and search the net and based on the reviews apparently this was the spot! Ppl were talking about coming there at the age of 7 now they’re bringing their kids so I said to myself I must try this spot. Today I came in. Got a couple of meat pies and before I can even drive off I had to try it for myself and I must say it was amazing. This will be my spot from now on

  • symon jaz

One of the best places for an awesome meal. A true hole in the wall that opens to a heavenly taste. I love the food, the family that runs the business and the generosity of the owners. The chicken pocket, the labneh (cream cheese i think) and the meat pie are great choices. I highly recommend this place and make sure you ask for olives with every meal (thought not the best olives, but still tasty) hope the owners maintain their prices and quality. again, best quality food for best value

All their dishes are a must try. Of course don't forget the pita bread (they also bake other variety of bread). There are 4 or 5 dishes that I thought only mom knows how to prepare! Most of all, their mini beef pies are a must try, usually packaged in 12-pc packages, and are great to take to a party. They are so good I am always tempted to keep them for myself, but instead, I give them to my friends who rave about them as well. Yummy Yum, thank you Village Pita Bakery

  • A Bub

The food was good initially but I actually warmed up the food the next day and my family member was saying it had old beef smell and it tasted off. Also the employees have bad customer service. Some of them preparing the food were not even wearing masks. On top of that I heard some of the female employees talking/laughing and saying stuff about some of the customers in Arabic when they were trying to order, which was messed up. Not coming back here ever again.

  • Usman Khan

Good food, good customer service, and very quick at getting fresh food ready for you. Alot of variety with zatar to Philly cheese stake. I had the Philly cheese stake and now, while writing this review I think that will be my lunch destination for today.Parking infront of the shop might be hard to find but alot of parking beside the shop. Enjoy good warm food and have a prefect start to the weekend.

  • Sam edris

Never recommend that place they are psycho, I went to there to pick up a pie they gave to me afer an hour and 35 minutes(one pie) every time I ask them about it they smile and shake their head, the girl and the other big guy they were just laughing, after that they brought the pie rockhard and it was cold, I just ate it because I can't throw food, In general stay away of these weirdos.

  • Brent Faas

I had an Iranian business partner take me for meat pie here maybe 20 years ago now. And ever since I have been going back for those meat pies. Its a large pita with a meat spread served nice and warm and perfectly crispy but still soft inside. They give you olives to go with it and I recommend the hot sauce and lime juice added in moderation. It is outstanding. Highly recommended.

  • Amina Ahmad

Best place for fresh delicious meat pies, cheese pie, potato, chicken pocket, steak and cheese made to order always fresh. They also carry middle eastern groceries and fresh every day the best pita bread. Hummus, dalmotas, tabhouli, these are all fabulous! This is truly a great experience if you've never been you have to try it, you'll be treated well by a wonderful friendly staff.

  • Satbir Kaur

Very good prices for good quality and delicious food with great customer service. Very good selection of pies to choose from and all of them are very yummy! My personal favourite are Spinach & Feta and Zataar with 4 cheese. My kids love chicken, meat and cheese pies here. So we pretty much always get these 5 pies. They’re very busy lunch time so I usually try to go after 2pm.

  • Aleena Sheikh

This place holds a special place in my heart. My dad took my family here every once in a while to have meat pies. It’s the only thing we ever got because we all loved them. He passed some time ago but I took my family there the other day and got to enjoy the food. They also carry a nice small variety of food as well. I always love picking up canned goods while I am there.

  • Jo Robertson

Great customer service, so friendly and welcoming. We had the Spinach and Feta and the Mhammara with cheese. They came with delicious olives and fantastic house made hot sauce. Both were absolutely delicious and the pita is crispy yet chewy. We couldn’t resist taking home some whole wheat pitas for wraps. Highly recommend paying a visit to this friendly establishment.

  • hamada zulfiqarr

Top place for Manakeesh in calgary. The topppest! The dough they use is immaculate. Perfect flavour and light. The cheese is delicious. The meat is out of this world. This is lebanese breakfast at its core! Manakeesh! If I could tell a store I love you I would. Thanks village pita! Also the beautiful lady working the cash gave me a piece of baklava to try. Thank you!

  • Janice Fung

A nice older man in a suit greeted me and took my order for a meat pie. One short wait later and I was enjoying my pita in my car. A line had built up after I placed my food order even though it was 1:30pm. The pita was grilled to perfection - crispy crunchy. The meat spread perfectly complimented the pita. Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu!

  • Derrick C.

This hole in the wall is a hidden gem!!! Fresh made pitas are absolutely delicious. Even more delicious when you stay and have them with a meal. I highly recommend the meat and cheese pita, simply amazing. Service here is excellent, the staff are very friendly and took the time to explain to me the different selections. Clean establishment, mini cafe/deli.

  • Benzene Benz

Honestly the best place in Calgary to buy your fresh pita bread and pies. They are made fresh everyday with love. Love buying from this place because the amazing quality, service, and prices. Coming here will never be a regret as they make you feel you are in Lebanon eating a fresh pie in the sunset. would recommend this place and will always be returning.

  • Pooja Ryan

Falafel was really good. But worst experience . I went there with my husband. There 5 men were sitting and chatting loud in their language (arabic) - - owner and his friends or family members they were rude. We wanted seat but Dddn't offer chairs . Three men's were stairing at us made us very uncomfortable. I don't recommend. WeI will never go back again.

  • M E

I once loved this place - they have gone down hill Very Greasy pies and the women employees are unfriendly and have seen them roll their eyes at people who have to ask for anything and talk about you in their language- I KNOW THE LANGUAGE!! Olives are gross- wilted and taste old Have to ask for napkins Took my business elsewhere and won't be back!

  • L Carlson

Worth the drive! I grew up in the Middle East and this is my comfort food. My entire family lives for their pies. We make a the trek over there regularly. My kids could love on their cheese pies. The staff is and has always been lovely and welcoming. The place is charming. I have loved everything I have ever had from here. It’s a gem!

  • Angela L (AL)

Delicious pita pies. Super helpful in helping us decide on order and offered to cut our pies in half so that we could share. Order comes with briny green olives. Large bottles of hot sauce and lemon juice on tables for you to add. Limited seating, but wasn't a problem for us as it looks like most people take food to go. Recommend.

  • Nohad Kaddoura

Love this place. Friendly owner, fresh baked goodies. To me it does not get better. Big size pies and excellent taste on almost all the pies, I never got to try the Kishk - they seem to always out, or may be I come late. The cherry on top is the cup of olives they give you for free with your food. Nice touch. You'll love it.

  • iL Dux

Been comming here for years for the spinach or meat pies, amazing family run business that is surely gonna hit that hunger spot, stay in or take out they have a full menu, dont forget to grab a couple of bags of pita on your way out it's the best in town done right. Thank you all and see you again soon!

  • Nony

Didn’t know what to expect but our experience has been amazing. The food is lovely and delicious. I highly recommend. It’s a family that runs the place and they make everything with love. You have to try the pies to believe. I was able to catch a picture of the pie’s before they were long gone …

  • Leena Elsharkawy

They make very good Maneesh/fatayer, note that they are very large in size compared to other places. They taste very good I would definitely recommend the spinach and cheese as well as the meat fatayer those are for sure the best two. The staff is also very sweet and friendly with customers.

  • J Rhind

Tasty pitas at a great price but service is disorganized and extremely slow. They lose track of who’s ordered what and who has paid if 3 or more customers. Need a number/ticket system like places like Edo have even if they have to number manually. Try here but only if you have lots of time

  • Rob Klein

The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are unfamiliar with Lebanese food, ask for a recommendation. I usually get a meat pie and a mahamurra with cheese pie. That’s a huge lunch. You could have 1 of those and be happy. Don’t forget to buy a bag of pitas. Very fresh and affordable.

  • Suzan A

For my entire life, they've been the same with the greasy, hairy everything. They can improve by wearing gloves, a beard/hair net and avoid the grease. They will never change and they ignore any kind of bad review. WELL BAKE is my go-to from now on, they're amazing 10/10. …

  • Gregory

Been coming here a lot - food is great. Tonight the lady working automatically tipped herself $2 before even handing me the machine for tap. Also no hummus on order so I went back in to buy one.... Got home to see on receipt I was charged for it on original order. Not impressed.

  • ACTION WORLD

Bad service ever if you want to order u need to book appointments from day before otherwise you need to wait 2 hours. Plus that tall guy they hiring too Lazy when you give him the order he didn't tell them in side to make it ready 1 star is to much for them …

  • Anfal Al

Love this place....I used to hate lahmajeen until I tried theirs...now I'm addicted....everything so fresh ...I've tried few things now from there...they never let me down...very impressed. The service is awesome....and quick ...you don't wait long to get your fresh food.

  • Sakama

I Loved cheese and steak pie. I also tried cute little meat pies which were yummy, but prefered the steak one.I wish they pay more attention to cleaning. At the first glance, the door was that much dirty I even didn't like to open it!!! but the inside was clean :)

  • Michelle

I love going to Village Pita Bakery! The meat pie with veggies is wonderfully exotic with flavours! I look forward to getting many more and trying the other items on the menu. If they're half as good as the meat pie with veggies, I wouldn't be surprised!

  • Sandy Alzukaimi

Last week I bought Pita bread and it was so old bread not as I expected fresh, the olives in the big jars are the worst, the cheese was so salty and the manakesh weren’t the best. Definitely not happy with the experience and never going there again..

  • Alice Weston

It has been over 20 years since we have visited Village Pita. Of course during that time the location has changed but the pitas are still as good as ever. Great place to stop for a quick lunch or to take pitas home. so glad we found the bakery again.

  • Saira A

My mother and I discovered this place over a decade ago when I was still a kid! I've tried a few meatpies around the city, but the ones at Village Pita Bakery are hands down the best! They're always made fresh and their red hot sauce is delicious.

Excellent pita bread - perhaps some of the freshest and best tasting pita I've ever had. The staff is also really friendly - they allowed me to come in and shop even though it was just past their closing time. I'll definitely be coming back!

  • Warren K

We had a meat and a cheese pocket. They were delicious; tasted just like Grandma made them. There fatayer are also delicious. It's the best I've had in the city. Service is quick and the restaurant was busy, which is always a good sign.

  • nadeem360

Amazing since day one. Was 6 or 7 when my dad took me here for my first meat pie. Now many years later my kids are enjoying their first meat pies. Inshallah my grand kids will enjoy meat pies in years to come! Keep up the great work!

  • Craig Bedard

The best meat pies, spinach and cheese pies...you must try them with their in-house hot sauce. I wish they bottled and sold this sauce. Try their other baked goods. You will be stuffed and happy! Perfect lunch spot with free parking.

  • Mona Jay

Thank you for sponsoring our event. Aside from the generosity of the owners, I come here weekly to stock up and bring meat pies to my mom & tot meet ups. It’s always a hit for every person at every age. Nowhere can beat this quality

  • A'sFitness

I've been going to this bakery for years. The same deliciousness is always servered. Their steak & cheese pies are my favorite, a little on the thicker side though. A thin crust or somewhat of an healthier option would be more ideal

  • Dean Schermerhorn

Deadly good. Ingredients must be authentic! Never had a better Mediterranean sandwich in my life. I ordered the chicken pita sandwich and my friend the steak and cheese. First time here - will be back. Good portions. Good service.

I've been going to village pita for over 30 years...back when they were in the old Northgate village mall. They haven't changed at all, infact they keep getting better and better. Zaatar and Cheese is still my absolute favorite

  • Bella Dene

Good Lunch Deli. They make flat bread pizza, empanadas and wraps. Selection of cold beverages All the fresh baked pita and fresh baked Afghani naan. Small selection of Mediterranean foods. Very busy so that tells you something.

  • Michael Fernquist

This is a little hidden gem in Calgary. The best fresh pita's in town, and while you pick them up you must try the meat pie. The food is very simple but fresh, clean and prepared well, don't deprive yourself of this experience.

I’ve tried lots of places for zaatar and meat pies bit this one is the best! Since I tried this place I haven’t been to any other place. The pies are crispy, delicious and the prices are great. Totally recommended.

  • Mark Alfakir

Very nice people! But not for manakeesh! We were 7 guys and no one liked it. Washroom’s light didn’t work, not enough seating area for more than three. It’s good for Arabic grocery shopping that’s pretty much it.
