Visited this restaurant for a friend's birthday. I cannot think of a single flaw in my experience. The service was immediate and incredibly helpful with any requests. I sat down and had a drink in hand within 5 minutes and they kept checking in after we ordered to see if we needed anything else. I ordered the Pork ramen in a Tonkotsu broth, this was lovely and filling. I've had the same meal in other restaurants that just fill the bowl with veg to keep costs low but this was full of protein and very good value. The ramen and a beer came to just over £20 which I think is a bargain for what you get. I had to leave early so I paid for my share of the meal separately, I know this can be a bit of a pain for the staff but they were more than happy to work out my share and allow me to pay at the bar. Lovely restaurant, 100% recommend a visit.

Wanago is a really nice, cozy and cute restaurant in Didsbury. I went there with my friends and we really enjoyed our meals. The sushi was really nice, fresh, melts in your mouth and very tasty. For my mains, I had the Devil's Ramen- this ramen is not for the faint heart if your spice tolerance is not that high. I really like spicy foods and this ramen definitely hit the spot. Not only I enjoyed the spiciness but it was also very tasty! My friends also tried the other ramens in the menu and they really enjoyed it. We also ordered the Pina Colada and Margarita from their 2 for £12 cocktails- its very refreshing and tasty! The mock-tails were really good too! Poor service, disappointing food, and the owner tried to rip us off. We had a 2 for 1 ramen voucher from Instagram. On entry, we checked that the voucher was valid, which was confirmed by the staff. The starters were pretty poor and ramen was bland. The “veg” was a single whole uncooked and unchopped pak choi. When we went to pay, staff then backtracked the voucher and the owner came out to speak to us. He was extremely aggressive, was happy to argue with my (male) partner, but told me to be quiet when I tried to interject. He claimed he had written the Instagram voucher, and tried to make up additional terms and conditions (which were not advertised anywhere on Instagram) to make the voucher invalid. He was also unable to show us where these terms were written. It was clearly a ploy to get people in and take money off them. Overall a really terrible experience and false advertisement of the voucher. I left feeling shaken up and upset after the interaction with the owner.

We've been here today as our family has the same surname as this location. We just wanted to step in for a drink and have a look at this location, but we ordered some food as well. We had the Edamame, kimchi, some sushi and 2 burgers. For what I can say I'd that unfortunately we do not live so close cause we would love to come back more often. The sides were excellent, the burgers were very tasty. Everything was fresh and presented very good. You can see him preparing sushi and other food with such a passion that it was great to look at his art with a tasty beer. As we told the manager about the same names he was so cool that he took pictures with us. We will definitely come again when we are in Manchester again.

I visited with my Sister on Saturday night whilst on a night out in the area. My Sister who has been before highly recommended the spicy Korean wings (and they didn't disappoint), they were delicious, so much so, we ordered more. We also ordered chicken pad thai and a side of salt and pepper fries. Washed down with Mojitos. All of the food was full of flavour. My only slight down were that the mojitos weren't the best but food was delicious

I find it hard to believe some of the one-star reviews here; our experience was quite the opposite. The bao buns were incredibly soft and delicious, with generous and tasty fillings. Even my partner, who tried them, called them one of the best bao buns we’ve had! The Ramen was delightful too; the meat was tender and flavorful, although it might have been slightly salty. Personally, since I don’t use much salt, the miso might have contributed to this. Overall, we’re definitely planning to order again or visit to confirm if our positive experience was just luck!

I'm so disappointed to have to write this review as we love wanago but the food I've just had was absolutely awful. I had the chicken karaage ramen and the adobo wings. The chicken was extremely dry chunks, the broth was basically water and a beef stock cube, of which I received a thimble amount. The wings were bland and soggy. It was just overall extremely bland and unappetising, considering the price you pay. Happy to remove this review if the issue is resolved. Very disappointed, we've been going to wanago since it started so I expected better.

Great experience here the other day with friends. F&B Aksh was very polite and helpful. Food came out fast, and really nice. The Katsu curry which wasn't my meal but tried cheeky fork full. That was exceptionally good and will order that next time I go. I also liked Ramen. Very nice open relaxed environment. Got to practice my chopstick skills. Went in hungry, left full and happy.

Very poor experience at Wanago (more like Wontgoagain). They are marketing themselves as a Pan-Asian street food eatery. The price point is nothing short of insane for the portion size of poor quality badly cooked food they is not even close to authentic. We also made the mistake of trying some cocktails from the bar and the cheapest of dirty alcohol they are using to make the various cocktails ruins and balance in the cocktails. The décor of the place and the staff are good, its just a shame that the menu for both drinks and food are so far from the mark, is a shame.

Tried Wanago twice now and safe to say I won't be trying again. Only good thing on the menu is the bang bang cauliflower. Egg fried rice is bland and was wet. Salt and pepper chips were soggy and bland despite being covered in "seasonings". Red Thai curry could only taste what I imagine is fish sauce and not much else, the chicken was inedible with a really weird texture to go with it, can only describe it as bouncy like a rubber ball. Real shame as I really wanted to enjoy the food.

A little bit like it was just reheated in a microwave which tasted off. Just wow! I came to celebrate my birthday with 10 friends and the service at the restaurant was above and beyond. The chef made a special desert platter for me and came over to say happy birthday. The food was absolutely exquisite. Everything was so so so tasty and fresh. I honestly can’t wait to return. Food, ambiance, service, price - 10/10!!!

Took an outside table with Os for a spot of lunch - Beef Loc Lac, Bang Bang Cauliflower, and Tofu & Veg Holy Basil. Absolutely fantastic meals, left us both full. Great service from the staff, we were there at a quiet time (2pm) between heavy showers so there weren’t many people about. Highly recommended though - we will certainly return on another trip up to Didsbury

After reading the reviews we weren’t sure what to expect as they were quite negative. We were SHOCKED at how gorgeous both the food and hospitality were at Wanago. I ordered the Pad Thai, my partner got a Katsu curry and our friend got the Korean chicken wings. As a table we shared some cocktails and a spicy tuna roll. The service was good, that is pretty much the only positive of this place. We first sat down and each had a glass of wine, my partners had passed probably as the bottle had been open so long. They quickly changed it but not a great start. The food was average at best, little meat and not authentic. However the biggest surprise was the bill. The prices exclude VAT, never before have i seen this in a restaurant outside of the US. Overpriced and inauthentic just don’t bother

Ordered tonkutsu ramen, tuna poke bowl and adobo wings was expecting more to be honest. The adobo wings were the worst do not recommend. Tuna poke bowl was okay but I don’t think much can go wrong with a poke bowl and the ramen was edible but did not enjoy I’ve have tonkutsu x10 better for almost half the price. Looks like a very nice place but food is just mediocre especially for price.

Seen reviews on this place and really not sure why there are low reviews. We had a lovely experience at Wanago, the waiters were attentive and professional. The sashimi, ramen and cocktails were gold tier, and we are very excited to come back with my Japanese sister in law. If you are after authentic tasting Japanese food in Didsbury, this is the place.

Great food portion and great taste! Me and my friend went here for a late dinner and some drinks. Love their long island iced tea which is my staple go-to here. I just wished that the adobo was more of a Filipino version as it felt a little more of a Japanese flavor. Nonetheless, we enjoyed it!

Passable, because I was hungry, but not worth the money and definitely not authentic. More like trying to reconstruct foods they don't even know how they taste like. Bland. Poor quality pork (like microwaving frozen meat). Cocktail containing aromatic ingredients tasted only like alcohol. Can't go higher than 2 stars.

My new favourite Restaurant in West Didsbury. We got a seat really easy and the staff were so friendly and helpful to help us decide exactly what we wanted. Our food arrived in no time and the flavours were incredible. The place was very clean and hygienic and had a really cool oriental theme.

Amazing food, dont know why people complain about it. The chef and waiter were extra friendly and helpful. The music could be more authentic :)

Dropped by for lunch. Lovely open aspect, an airy space, friendly and attentive service, reasonably priced. Our Thai curry, Mango and chicken salad and pepper and salt chips were absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous. Very good value.

This restaurant is great for people who like fatty and spicy food, but I didn't get the meal I was expecting and it was too spicy and fatty for me. The phad Thai is really spicy and there's no mention that it's even hot in the description.

Tried to give this place a chance multiple times but food was always very fatty (in a bad way) and tasteless which I didn't think was possible for pan-Asian food. Go literally anywhere else on Burton Road and you will have a better time.

Excelent food and service. The place is very good and the staff is pretty friendly and kind. The food was amazing, I can recommend the Chicken Gyozas, Pork Charsiu Ramen and Prawn Ramen. Next time I will try the Bao Buns.

We ordered on Deliveroo and when our food arrived the sauce had spilled all over the bag and was completely empty. I rang Wanago and they sent more sauce really quickly, thank you!

Very good service, but the food was average, if expensive. The place was also kinda dirty, like hand prints all up the walls in the hallway to the bathroom. Reasonable vegan options.

Food was bland and flavourless. Chicken boa bun was chilled like it was straight from the fridge not heated at all. Gyozas tasted straight from the freezer. Does look nice though.
