I absolutely adore the shelves of previously-loved tomes! There's something worth obtaining in pretty much every direction I looked, from old favorites of yesteryear to new releases that I needed even more. The prices are as good as the selection. The cat that lords over the place, crawling over the shelves and piles of things, absolutely makes the Wee Book In even more special than it ought to be. Only good words thus far; what drags down my rating? Sadly, so sadly, I have to report that it's the employees. We've come by several times to see the counter help ignore the customers whilst having a good chat amongst themselves, or coldly and dismissively treat would-be remitters of the coin of the realm, and have them walk out the door. What all that attitude you'd think there were no bookstores near-by, nor any place online to choose instead. I have yet to buy anything here, but not for want of trying. Disdain to those who ask questions doesn't make other customers who witness the scene want to patronise your business. Unless all of us are wrong, and this really is a clubhouse for the staff.

The Wee Book Inn is the treasure of the city of Edmonton for book lovers. I first walked through its Stony Plain Road locations doors over a decade ago, and have always kept this store in mind when thinking about getting books. My wife is a fan of Agatha Christie - Hercule Poirot character and we were able to find a special bound collection of those stories! We've also been able to place a "hold" on a book that they didn't have stock of, and we were contacted when they had acquired it! It's amazing that they can keep track of all their books. When we were downsizing our book collection, they looked through hundreds of our books to select what they would like to purchase and gave us a great value on what would otherwise just collect more dust. We opted to get it as store credit, and have since used it all to get more books that were new to us!

What a beautiful and relaxing used book store! I am glad I decided to stop by. I was able to finally get all of The Lord of the Rings, and more. One downside is there isn't much of a manga selection for those who do enjoy some manga, like me, but I was able to get a good amount of books for $60 which was nice. I also accidentally forgot my headphones while putting the new books into my shoulder bag for ease of carrying, and when I called later that day after getting home and realizing they were missing, my headphones were safe and my roommate was able to collect them for me really quick. When I struggled to find something at the store I was able to get help fairly quick and they were friendly which is great.

I have been to this store many times, since the 80s. Frankly the books are overpriced as far as used books go. They had Savage Sword of Conan comic/ graphic novels $5 each, not in bag, no backing not even very good condition. Too much. Those are worth $1.50 max in that condition. When approached on it won't move on the price. Military history coffee table book, torn dust jacket ok condition $30, brand new it was $50. Sorry but these guys are %25-40 too high. Maybe rent is atrocious on Whyte Ave but I think it's ridiculous. The store was fairly well organized and service was average at best. $5 for a used Stephen King paperback NOPE. There are better in this fair city.

Going here is one of my favorite things to do, as long as I have 2 or 3 dollars I can go upstairs. They have movies and books from 1 dollar to 15 dollars. They have commented to me that they enjoy me being a customer at there stores. ( how often do you here that from a store? This leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy, very good. These people are fantastic wonderful people. One time I walked away and he ran out of the building and caught up with me after a few meters to tell me I forgot my change. ( wich was about 75 cents) they go the extra mile. I always feel welcome never rushed, unless they are closing, and even then they are still very polite.

A great place to purchased used books. Friendly staff and thus far, the books that I have purchased (I have made several purchases from them) were both reasonably priced and in 'like new' condition. They are so good in fact, that during the pandemic I called ahead to see if they had books my sister in QC desired but was unable to purchase and the kindly folks at Wee Book Inn set the desired books aside so that I could just come in, pay for them and pick them up - meaning I need be in the store for a minimalm amount of time. My sister was delighted to know that I had acquired the bootjs for her with such ease and expediency.

Being open until midnight already makes this my favourite book store. Added to that their massive selection of obscure and fascinating volumes and its hard to ever want to leave. As someone who tends to acquire unusual books, it's awesome to find someone who is as enthusiastic about taking them in for trade as Wee Book Inn is. The staff members are also always super chill and genuinely interesting people. Compared to Fair's Fair in Calgary, which often has a detached feel to it like it wouldn't matter if they sold books or car parts, I go out of my way to pick Wee Book Inn every time.

  • Michael Nedoshytko

This is an excellent bookstore. Never know what you will find! They mostly carry pocket books, and they are very cheap, like $3-5. Good collection of graphic novels too. You can trade in your books for something new. I'm not sure what the policy is, but I remember it being very favourable years ago. For me, this shop is iconic. It has been on Whyte Ave for as long as I can remember. They have a cat upstairs on the second floor. They ask that you don't touch the cat. The cat won't bother you though. Highly recommend stopping in every so often, when you are on Whyte Ave.

The best inn in tow, you can't sleep here but you will walk out with something. What ever you like it's there from romance to mystery, from crime to self help. .From books that look brand new to ones that belong in a collectors box. Almost walked out with a 30 book set of Charls Dickens in leather, and they have sean a century or two. and if books aren't your thing than they have vinal, audio tapes and CD. Music not your thing you like to watch your stories instead of listening to them? They got that too, DVD's blue ray, some new mostly old.

  • kevin Hord

Wow what can I say? I spent so much time going through this store. It has so much to offer. I found literally everything I was looking for from the foundation trilogy to some of the ring world books. Additionally I found the prices to be more than fair as I basically got half off everything. Additionally, you are able to bring books back for store credit or cash! I will never pay for a book again! Amazing staff and very helpful! Twas fairly busy but not crowded. 10 out of ten I 100%recommend

I love a used bookstore. I can spend hours...the Wee Book Inn has an eye for titles I enjoy, rotating their own well-curated collection prominently up front, usually a mix of old literary classics and quality contemporary stuff. There's nice depth in their collection, and they have a good rotating selection in popular material as well. For me, an Edmonton landmark, and a nice reprieve from busy evening Whyte Ave. Had some good book chats with the staff.

  • Coleston Pluzak

I really enjoy this bookstore, great selection, late hours make it super convenient. If there is something you've been looking for you can go in and put your name down and a couple months later you get a phone call and can go get it for a very reasonable price. They also offer you half the price of a book back in credit if you bring them back for the next person to enjoy which is a very attractive offer that I have gotten a lot of mileage out of.

  • Jules Sommer

I honestly would NOT recommend taking your books here to sell. I sold 48 books to them (almost all vintage books in practically new condition) and was given $40. Had I not been desperate at the time I never would have accepted it. Looked up the value of the ones they took when I got home and it was about $500. They gave me less than $1 per book. Total ripoff. Won’t be going back to buy or sell there. I’ll go elsewhere.

  • Jasmine Naqvi

Went to trade in some books, when my toddler let me know they had to use the restroom. The attendant wouldn’t let my child use the bathroom, resulting in her having an accident on the way to the public restrooms on 82nd. We were one of the few wearing masks, and sanitized our hands when coming into the store. I took my books back and left. Utterly shameful. I used to love this place, but won’t be going back.

  • Tyler Caldwell

I have a medical condition that does not allow me to wear a mask but this did not matter much to them, they did not see me come in and when I went to pay for my books they refused to sell them because I never had a mask on. I used to love this store and have spent a fair bit of money in there but I will never go back after this. It is really sad that this is where we have fallen as a country.

  • Nicole Robson

This is a great bookstore and the staff are friendly. Not a huge fan of their mask policy, as I was told I couldn't wear mine here — not sure what makes this place so special as I can wear my mask everywhere else. Looks like Amazon will be getting my business for now unfortunately! Too bad — I like to support small businesses. But if they are going to make it difficult for me, then I won't.

  • B

Love the rustic and nostalgic appeal of this place. Such a peaceful and enriching experience to browse through actual paper copies of previously loved tales and sagas. I never fail to find myself new endeavour's to embark upon. With the turning of new pages my imagination awakens to hosts of new worlds and the characters who inhabit them. It's also nice to not pay brand new prices.

  • Miona Milovanovic

Absolutely enjoyed my visit! The staff at the front greeted us as we walked in but I especially enjoyed being able to take my time looking around without being followed and asked a bunch of questions. A very kind man working there made some good recommendations as they didn’t have anything by the author I was looking for. I will definitely come back next time I’m in Edmonton.

  • Shay Gulati

Legit wonderful and cozy little place filled with second-hand books, tomes, texts and more (but no cats). The owner also has a book about the political fallout from alberta switching from proportional voting to first past the post. Ask about that specifically. Update after a few years: Wow, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Call your parents.

  • mackenzie

My boyfriend and I visit here often as he loves the fact that you can find comics he usually has to search for - at reasonable prices! It's also such a good vibe in the stores (both downtown and Whyte!) And staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help! It's always a positive experience and is added to our outing plan anytime we are going to the area!

  • Reza Sattarzadeh Nowbari

It's one of the best second gand bookstores in Edmonton. You have a very good collection of books on different genres. Don't forget to check the upstairs where they have the non-fiction titles. The only issue was that I found the prices not very reasonable for second-hand books. It some cases, the price was higher than the original price of the book.

  • Shannon Williams

Always friendly and helpful staff, even when you go in with 6 boxes of books to sell. They process books like a well-oiled machine! Don't be afraid to go in with your embarrassing boxes of books from your self-help phase of a decade ago, or the pop-religious and "chicken soup" books you were gifted as a teen! They totally understand!

  • Leah Theroux

I love the wee book inn. It's such a cozy environment to find great books. They have a big selection of many genres, so there's something for Everyone. If you bring books in, they can give you money back or store credit in gift card form. The staff is very friendly, and the adorable store cat makes you want to keep coming back.

  • Michelle Riopel

Great used book store to lose a relaxed hour in. The two floors feel spacious even though they have a big selection. It's not fancy, but the cat is cute and the staff are very helpful. And like all WBI locations, if they don't currently have something you're looking for, they'll take your name and call you when it comes in.

  • Kate Brosinsky

I love this book store. The staff is super friendly, and seem to know where every book is. The cat, Sabu, is super cute and really adds to the place. The books are in good condition and they carry everything from kids books to comics and movies. Would recommend to anyone looking to save money on books, movies, and comics!

  • christopher haworth

I can’t say enough nice things about the staff and selection at this store. There isn’t even enough characters in order to do so. I spend way more money than I should here and rarely regret it lol If you happen to be lucky enough to deal with heather(red hair lovely smile) you will likely be planning a return trip soon.

  • Sara Patel

Always enjoy visiting this little book store! I appreciate the local store, and the variety of books available. Such a great spot on Whyte Ave to jump into to get away from the hustle bustle and feel calm. Love seeing what books are here, and choosing something that you seem to not be able to find anywhere else.

  • Dan Schykulski

This is an iconic used bookstore on Whyte Ave, it's been here for as long as I can remember. It has a really great selection of used books and they are reasonably priced. This place even comes complete with at least one cat and of course that great used book smell. You can buy, sell and trade used books here.

  • David-George Oldham

This place is clean, professional and tolerant of EVERYONE. They're a great place to pick up some nuanced theology books or that rare piece of fiction you wanted. It took them 2 years, but they found my favourite book and when I visit - I think they genuinely care so that's cool. God bless and good luck.

  • Sean Girard

A 2 floor bookstore with a HUGE selection of books, novels, records, comics, etc. Everything is organized beautifully and has that classic old book smell. Also has a super friendly cat that wanders the store which makes the experience so enjoyable! Store is easy to find and good customer service as well.

  • Lisa Marshall

It was a very lively bookstore. It was quite bigger than the other Wee Book Inn branch here at Edmonton. I found lots of enjoyable books and even took my time exploring their sci-fi section because the books there were very intriguing. I purchased 3 books because the prices here were good as well.

  • GiantSnail

I go here almost weekly. They have a great selection of books that rotate through the store very quickly. They have everything from graphic novels to technical manuals to DVD box sets. Prices are reasonable and the store usually closes at midnight, so it's good for late-night browsing.

  • Kynya

i love this place, it makes me feel like im walking in to a wizards shoppe. books are varied and well priced, sometimes you gan get some really good deals on comics or vintage out of print books. the gentlemen that work there are quite helpful and they do buy your used books as well

  • Hilary Hex

I love this shop. I particularly loved getting a recommendation from the clerk when I asked and he gave me a genuine suggest that he was honest about. The store is well lit and well organized and my favourite part is that it doesn't smell like mildew. I would def recommend a browse.

  • Danny Marvels

One of the loveliest book stores I ever visited. I was there during Halloween season and it was decorated so lovely. You can find all sorts of books you might never heard if or never wanna hear of again and the vibe is almost vintage. The guy who worked there was very friendly too.

  • David Baptist

A long established privately owned business. Having a large selection of new and used books. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable in its inventory to better help the consumer. I recommend anyone looking for a specialty book outside the mainstream bookstores give this gem a try.

  • Shadow Box Studios

My favorite book store in Edmonton. 2 stories of great, organized selections. Good prices, chill friendly staff, including the resident kitty, who here was approving my book purchases. Located in the heart of Whyte ave and open til midnight, makes browsing that much more fun!

  • Stuart Beale

I absolutely love this book store! It has a great selection, great prices and helpful employees. I would highly recommend this store, and don't forget to browse upstairs as well! Then hey, take a walk down the street and find a small coffee shop to start your new book in.

  • Mostow Now

This is a warm and welcoming place. A reader's paradise! Wow! The staff are friendly and genuine in the roles behind their positions. Lots of books to choose from. I could spend hours and hours and hours in there! Keep up the great service and thank you for being around!

  • Erik de Vries

If you are looking for older books that aren't in print anymore, this is a good place to check out. You may need to empty a few milk crates to find what you're looking for and there is no guarantee they'll have it, but it's interesting to see what they have nonetheless.

  • Richard Radwinski

I love this second hand books store. Last time I was here I learnt that their leather bound books in the glass case upstairs are all new! They are also a great price for their quality. Staff are always very friendly and willing to help you with anything you need.

  • Paul Mc

Best used book store I have stumbled across. Good selection of books, DVDs, and comics. Most paperbacks are about $3-5, which is quite reasonable. Two floors with sale items upstairs. No reading books, but nice place to search through and find some new treasures.

  • Tim Oborn

I've been going here since I was a kid. In many ways, its the reason I love books and reading. The staff are knowledgeable about the current contents of the store to an almost arcane level, and of course I love the cats. If you are walking by, be sure to pop in.

  • Esther Lac

Ambience is perfect for book lovers to step into, explore, browse, and just forget the world around you for a little while. I found the start of a manga collection I'd been dreaming of owning since I was young. Definitely serendipitous. Each volume was only $5!

  • Kayley Crowshaw

An excellent bookstore with excellent books. Always updating their shelves with fair-priced books! Great staff and a cute cat to look at. I wish I could pet the cat, but there is very clearly a sign that tells me not to. A girl can dream! 5 stars nonetheless ⭐️

  • aemidaniels

A wonderful quiet store with that smell that puts a book lovers soul at peace. They do have a shop cat so maybe keep clear if you have bad allergies. If needed, their bathroom has a shockingly efficient toilet. It doesn't look like it would be but trust me.

  • Luisa Toussaint

If you like books you should come here. I love that it's on Whyte and open late! There should be more of these, sometimes you just wanna find a book....a lot of space and the workers are friendly. Had a nice time :) I will come back once I finish my book!

  • Aaron Krause

  • Erin June

BEST place to buy all manner of previously-loved books, including a wide selection of graphic-novels, comics, juvenile literature, bestsellers-----and that's just on the MAIN floor! Love this place. And there's a cat! (Note: Don't disturb the cat)

The Wee Book Inn is a magical place; I could stay there for hours! So many beautiful memories, so many amazing authors from James Herriot, Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, John Saul, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, to name a few favorite books...

Staff is always kind, friendly, and willing to help! Books are priced fairly considering, and they have a large selection! Only downside is you can’t pet the cat, but that is understandable. Thank you for being a pillar in the community! :)

It's fun to bring kiddo to see the selection of books as it is always changing. She also really likes that there is a cat, so one of her favourite things to do is try to find where the cat is and then admire her from afar.

  • Miranda J. L.

Always need to stop here! It's not Edmonton without this bookstore!! *Cat allergy alert* but for the rest of us - KITTIES!!! PS Here's my Bebe catloaf, I always miss her when I come to the city, but you guys help.

  • Scott Woloshin

Well kept- good selection of books. Like with most used book stores, they're only sorted by genre and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to find something. Sort of have to get lucky.
