Left after at least 1 hour and 30 minutes without getting to eat the food we ordered. It took over an hour from being sat to get food and then another 25 minutes and counting to get corrected food before we threw in the towel and left. I was a table of 2 sat before 5 pm under covid phase 2, so no inside dining. The patio was half full on our arrival, we were the 5th of 8 tables. 3 tables came in after we placed our order, and all got food before we did, as did another two tables that were resat. I grew up in restaurants and over 17 years I managed and/or part-owned one, so I was cutting them some slack. Our food came out after 6 pm, only when I finally lost my patience and went inside myself to find out what was going on. When the food was brought to us both Top Shelf Crispy Chicken sandwiches were missing lettuce and 1 was missing the signature sauce, but both had extra-charge bacon added on when I did not ask for any on mine. The chicken certainly looked like it had sat for a good while under a heatlamp after being cooked, however neither of us had a bite so I can't say for certain. The fries were cold and kettle chips were cold and overly hard. The beer I had been nursing was warmer! After telling the server of the problems we waited another 25 minutes for the food to be fixed before we finally gave up and told the server we were leaving. In the meantime other tables resat while we waited recieved their food. It seems like we were an isolated incident, but between the server and the back of house, somewhere the ball was dropped and then was continually fumbled.

Met an old school friend for lunch at Wendel Clark’s restaurant on Brant street, downtown Burlington. You have to find parking on the street or at one of the municipal parking lots, thankfully, on this cold day it wasn’t an issue! We were one of two sets of people there for lunch, the bartender was our server, she was pleasant and checked in on us, even listening to some of my friends ramblings which I’m sure she didn’t care for. The restaurant/bar was clean enough, with Leafs memorabilia on the walls, low ceilings and TVs all around...but it’s certainly not upscale, or comparable to some of the chains as far as atmosphere, mind you he’s working with a smaller budget! As for the food, it’s the typical bar type.... burgers.... wings.... nachos etc I had the grilled blackened chicken with Brie sandwich, while my friend had the Wendel burger. I found the blackened chicken, no so blackened and was lacking flavour and a bit dry. My friends burger quite the opposite.... it was blackened! The fries served with both plates looked anemic and not very appetizing. I did have dessert, the apple coconut strudel with ice cream, served in a small ramekin, just the right amount and reasonably priced.... it was very good! Yuk yuks comedy club is right above, if you were making a night of it, this would be a convenient place to grab a drink or food before or after a show, other than that I would not go to Wendel’s for “dinner” or on a date.... the food is just not up to snuff with his legend!

The food was hot and tasty but my friend upgraded to potatoe fries and the portion was less than my regular fries that was not upgraded!! . The pickle appetizer was delicious and well portioned, sadly the cauliflower app was very small but yummy. They were short staffed so the menu was limited, which is totally understandable. The waitress was friendly and efficient but I was disappointed when she told us the beer special was 2 types and then added there were more types of beers but failed to mention that the added types of beers were NOT part of the special. Shame on her for Deceiving the customer. We ended up paying over $8 for a beer that should have been $5 . If we are asking about the drink specials, we obviously want to pay the special price. She should have clarified that it was only 2 Beers on special, not the extra ones she rambled off memory. Not nice at all!! The restaurant is big but needs upgrading and a good cleaning. We came for dinner and the went to the Yuk Yuk’s show upstairs. It was nice that they allowed us to bring our drinks with us. Overall it was a nice experience but we would only go back if we were going to Yuk Yuk’s again.

My family and I visited July 1st, 2022, Canada Day and we waited about five minutes to be seated. After ordering our food, we were later told that the wait times to be fed were one hour. We agreed to stay and was also offered a free virgin caeser (the bad, with a little bit of good). I ordered the Mediterranean Salad, with a chicken on top, the wife ordered the fish and chips and the kid ordered the mini burgers. The washrooms were DISGUSTING and I left to use the facilities at a local bakery, Kellies Bake Shoppe, which were emasculate! Walking back to our table, we still didn’t have food until after another 20 minutes. The salad was wilted, tomatoes were soft and spongy, with a lack of flavour. The portion size was comparable to a cereal bowl and the chicken up charge of 4.95 was not worth it since it was dry. The fish and chips were decent, the fish had little meat on it and the mini burgers were tasty but my kid can eat anything that hits his plate. The best thing we ordered were the sweet potato fries. The salad cost 18.00 (DO NOT ORDER) and I was still charged after only eating less than 1/4 of the meal. I would NEVER go there again.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. As soon as we walked into this place, the host looked unexperienced and someone who looked like a manager sat us in the patio. No drink menu was provided and the food menu was a paper copy and it was dirty. We ordered two apps and asked for 2 waters right away from our server Michelle. Then we ordered 2 drinks which was dropped off by another server and asked her for water again which we never got btw. Apps came out and no cutlery at the table, I asked for cutlery and water again from the person who dropped off the food, she brought the cutlery and no water. We ate our food which was cold and the server was nowhere to be found to check up on us… finally when I saw her again was when she asked to bring the bill and I asked for water again which she brought over with the debit machine and then never seen again until we left. I took the receipt to write it here as it was the worst experience

I was extremely impressed with my experience here. We decided to give them a try after my Father recommended it. The Atmosphere was very nice. Our server was very confident and very attentive. Our food arrived quite quickly and it was amazing. Two of us had the ribs, and, while I initially questioned the portion size, I was quickly blown away by the quality of the meat and the flavor of the sauce. As someone who usually judges a place by its ribs, my high standards were met and exceeded. Better yet, despite my initial scepticism about what looked to be a smaller portion, I finished my meal perfectly content. I'm glad I was wrong! Nothing but good to say. If you're debating going, stop. Just go and thank me later. 11/10 will return shortly.

Very good place to watch a Leafs game on TV as they actually turn on the sound of the game which I appreciate, and they have lots of TV's. But the overall atmosphere is somewhat lacking. Service was excellent but I think the staff smoke out back with the door open - not the best smell for eating dinner. The Wendel Burger was very good, but the fries were over done and there were a lot of little bits, like imagine half your fries are less than a cm long, it was weird. And the keg of the beer I wanted wasn't working so had to go with a 2nd choice (there are worse things). I will go back and look forward to trying another item from their menu.

Dined tonight around 6pm. Table of 3. After waiting around 30 minutes, we ordered 2 of their crispy chicken sandwiches and 1 order of chicken tenders. It took about 45-50 minutes to be served. The two tables that ordered after us received their food much sooner than we did. When the food came out the fries were cold, the chicken tasteless and room temperature and the sauce was missing on the sandwiches. Our waitress was accommodating and brought out new fries right away.. which were also cold. She also discounted our meals. The slow service combined with gross food made for a very poor experience. Will not be returning,

We were there on Saturday evening. It wasn’t overly busy at the hour we arrived, however the service was extremely slow. Our server did apologize and provided us with a discount. We almost felt like our orders were forgotten. When the orders did arrive, we got them in sporadically. It was almost 10 minutes from us getting the first order to the last and we were a group of 7. With that, one of the meals wasn’t even prepared as advertised. The Beef Au Jus was missing the caramelized onions and horseradish.

This place has been downtown for years and I had never tried it. I assumed it was the same as all those typical chain restaurants. However today I had been craving a Turkey burger and so, I thought well let's give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised! The burger was very delicious. I have tried a few around the city as I had missed the Lick's Gobbler from years ago....and I think I've found one, and even better...we also had the calamari with garlic sauce...this too was delicious! We will be back!

We went to Wendel's as a party of three on a Wednesday evening in September. We were seated immediately in a window table. The restaurant was not busy at all. We ordered our drinks and entres and the food came extremely fast. As our dinners had numerous deep fried parts - fish, fries, onion rings - we were surprised that the food arrived universally overcooked. It was like the cook left yhe fryer too hot and too long. The Chicken restaurant next door had a booming business...

Overall good experience. Ordered fish & chips, burgers, chicken sandwich and nachos. The nachos were excellent. The burgers were a bit dry and the buns a bit hard. The fries were okay. Service was excellent.

Great service great food. We made reservations but prob didnt need them as it wasnt too busy. Our waitress was friendly and she kept checking in. The food was served hot and accurate and tasted delicious. I had the fish and chips. It was a generous portion of fish. The batter was crunchy and the fish was flaky and moist. The french fries did seem a little overcooked. The drinks were great. Afterwards we attended the Yuk Yuks show.

Review from 9 months ago. The food is third rate. The restaurant does not care about the quality of what they serve. Menu descriptions are not true. Will never be going back. Well, today we ended up giving Wendel's one more chance. Their Fish and Chips and Burger were awesome!! The new Manager Graham provided an efficient and friendly customer experience. It seems the place has turned around. We'll be back again and again.

Don't waste your money the food is terrible I ordered a hamburger and trust me the hamburger from Mac Donalds is 4000 % better! my girlfriend ordered a nachos that was too oily. I am from Mexico and I don't know if we can call that nachos! very poor quality and flavor! the only good thing was the service ! Don't waste your money expensive and very poor quality !

Date of Visit: Friday May 31, 2019. Good food, decent portions, and good service. We had the turkey burger, and the chicken sandwich. They were really good. Nice flavours nice place. Fast Friendly Service. There is no parking specific to Wendell Clark's but there is a parking lot across the street that has the Big Sculpture in the middle .

Went there on Sept 29, ordered a steak and it took them 3 tries to get it right, while I was waiting my wife and son had finished their meals while I watched them eat then they got the pleasure of watching me eat. not what I would call a good dining experience. Don't order your steak well done, they can not cook it correctly.

Extremely slow service. Took 2h to get the food. And when it arrived the food was bland and cold. The chicken for our salad was dry and extremely hard to eat. The fried chicken sandwich was plain and had no secret sauce on it. Overall really bad. Only okay thing was the waiter, she was nice.

  • Michael Birac

Went to the patio on Tuesday. Service was very warm, friendly and prompt, food was served quick and very hot and fresh. The surprise was the quality of the chicken tenders in the kids meal. They did not feel like your typical frozen chicken fingers you would get. Would go back again!

  • Mario Angeloni

Seemed like good service to start but we had been here 90 minutes before being served only 5 of our 7 meals. Not fun when guests are eating at different times. My meal was the beef dip as jus…they failed to make it with caramelized onions and horse radish. Not a great experience :(

  • Michael Winstanley

We ordered take out and didn't realize when we collected that a COVID tip was already on the bill and I gave the waitress an extra $10. Be careful when trying to support your local business as it's my first experience of a hidden tip. Food was good all said and done

  • pure canadian

We sat outside. New waitress, very polite and friendly. Food kind of blah. My husband had the fish and chips. They use potato chips as the batter. He wasn't impressed. I had a wrap with fries. It was okay. Overall, I would go back for a drink but not the food

Honestly the food here was pretty terrible. Nachos with cheese that was so obviously squeezed on plus what tasted like store bought guacamole. Overrly salted fries. The decor here is pretty lackluster and staff dressed pretty slobby. Would not return.

  • P Pol64

Appetizer was served cold and bread was stale chicken wings were undercooked and cold. Nachos were good. Would not recommend. Saw one couple leave because no one served them

Tried the lunch special today at Wendels we both had Fish and Chips. They were excellent, liked the kettle chip batter. Great fries as well. Our hard working waitress was great. Looking forward to trying some of their other selections.

  • Miranda O'Sullivan

Great service. We had a large group (9 adults and 10 kids) and they warned us ahead of time that there were only two people in the kitchen, but our wait wasn't bad at all. The server was excellent and everyone really enjoyed the food.

This is one of the best bars in downtown Burlington. The staff is extremely and make you feel like you are part of the family. Love being at the bar when Kristen and Erin are working. They take care of you like you are a regular.

  • Thomas Nguyen

Daily specials are advertised on their website but there isn't any when you come there. The drinks list is limited. The vegetables accompanying the chicken entree is frozen vegetables, soggy, flavorless and served cold.

  • AC Guevara

Desert was very good, hamburger not good(A&W is much better and cheaper), the fish was also pretty good. 40% of the fries were deep fried 2 or more times hence dark and full of oil. For the price I would not recommend.

  • william mcknight

It was very hot inside. Waitress told us AC was on, but the doors were wide open. Food was ok, but not great. Not worth a return visit.

Great atmosphere and great service. The food however was barely ok. Every dish we had, about 6 different ones, was just ok. So much opportunity for improvement. It's not likely that I will return.

  • Michelle Steele

Not impressed tonight i paid 7.95 for fries like this?? Have you guys changed your fries??? Fries arrived not warm..This came with order via skip as for feta bread stuffed..not happy either..

  • Susanne Marshall

Absolutely disappointed raw salmon wait over an hour for our food Don't come here 100% sucked large Gravy Gross Best part booze I understand they are short staffed but cook the freaking food

  • Mark whatzhisface

Their half price apps, $6 pints, $3 shots from 3-6pm can't be beat. Super friendly attentive staff. Enjoyed the sliders. Thanks so much.

He was just a great Toronto Maple Leaf player but he scores a hat trick with his steaks.
