Edit: After getting in touch with our broker, Donna, things got sorted as it related to why I was contacting them. While this location is working hard to address issues, there are systemic ones that the greater Westland organization is causing for them. Original: Have not had a great experience with this brokerage. They acquired Rigby Insurance a few years ago, and our broker moved with them. After getting into an accident and attempting to contact that broker, both through phone and Westland insurance email address, there was no reply, response, or any indication that none would come. It took digging into LinkedIn to find out our broker was no longer with Westland. Westland hadn't informed us that Gina was no longer there, or who we may want to talk to for any concerns or issues with our policy. Attempting to contact Westland is like throwing a message in a bottle into the ocean, without a cap. It's been a black hole attempting to reach anyone there, either by phone or web form. Their voice message says they are currently experiencing higher than normal call volumes.....but if you're regularly experiencing these call volumes, the way math and averages works would indicate that you have a new "normal" for call volumes. Not once when I've called have I been able to speak with a person, so clearly it's not a problem with the volume of calls, but staffing the phones. While this may just be a byproduct of having my business bought as part of the Rigby Insurance acquisition, it has left me not wanting to continue to deal with Westland going forward. Your mileage may vary if you deal with them to begin with though.

I've had nothing but bad experiences here. When I first started I worked with Karla, and I have nothing but good things to say about her! Then this past month I got a new vehicle, and called asking to talk to Karla about getting the new vehicle added. The insurance company told me that I now have a new insurance broker who took over....and I never got told this. I was sent to her number and had to leave 1,2,3,4,5 voicemails in two days about getting this new vehicle added on. No response at all. So to acquire and register my new vehicle, I had to go with a different company, who was able to help me out no problem and got me set up in no time. So then I decided to cancel my insurance policy completely. Again I had to contact my broker, left emails, voicemails, finally had to call the head office to tell them what was going on. and through the head office was the ONLY time I ever got in contact with my broker, where it took over two days for her to send out the cancellation form. (which was effective august 1) After cancelling my insurance, they still took my money out of my bank account! I have been contacting both the head office and the company nonstop to try to cancel it and get my money back. This has become a nightmare and total waste of my time. I work at a registry office and know what a good insurance broker looks like. Even my boss (who is the insurance broker of my office) says this behaviour is unacceptable. Very disappointed.

EDIT: 7 years later I am extremely unhappy especially as long term, very happy clients who moved their home and all autos including the motorcycles to this company because they were so responsive in the past. I don't know what is going on at this business but they are certainly not attending to clients like they used to. I have called no less than 5 times in 4 days - Friday we called around 5 and again just before 6 - their message said they were open to 8 PM. Saturday called at 9 AM, their message said open BY PHONE all day. Left a message every time I called but still waiting for a return call today (Monday), I called first thing in the AM & spoke to a human who told me my rep had moved on then forwarded me to the person now in charge of my file. Again, left a message and 6 hrs later still waiting! I'm through - moving on myself now to a new insurance co and will be canceling everything held at Westland ASAP. My Review from 7 years ago: Recently shopping for a better rate for full coverage on motorcycle insurance and Willie Mercado helped us out with that in no time at all, quoting us a far better rate than we had. Willie was professional, accurate, and available - even on a weekend! Thanks Willie, you made the switch to your company quick and painless.

My grandparents used Westland for their Home insurance for decades, they passed during COVID and I recently purchased the property to keep their acreage in the family and out of the hands of developers. I asked them for a quote for new a new policy as it's needed for the title to properly transfer, they said they would call me back, but over a week later and after several reminders they haven't reached out. Under normal circumstances, this would have just been a small annoyance, but they were told 3 times that it was time sensitive and a necessary condition for the title transfer, and the front desk just kept making excuses to why they couldn't reach out and do a simple quote and why they kept ignoring me. I ended up going with TD insurance instead and they got me a policy quoted and executed within 1 hour on the last day before the land transfer, if I had waited for Westland the entire transaction could have fallen apart. I'm a business owner myself, and I would never give a client this kind of service, especially when my family had been loyal customers for decades. Do yourself a favour and go with someone that will give you more than a load of excuses

We did a very quick buy on our new home in Alberta. We only gave ourselves 6 weeks from the day we put in an offer, til we had to have our house sold and take possession of the new place. To add to the headache, we were moving from BC and so we needed to deal with everything at a distance, without meeting anyone in person. As soon as I contacted Jhana, she understood our situation and was extremely helpful in getting us set up with exactly the right insurance we needed without breaking the bank. She worked with us to make sure all of the documents were filled out correctly and got sent to our lawyers so that everything could proceed smoothly. I could not have asked for better customer service. All of our questions and comments were answered promptly by email or over the phone as needed, and it went off without a hitch. If you need to get some insurance and you're not sure how to go about it, give them a call and get the ball rolling. You get what you want without a bunch of extra up-selling, pressuring you into something you don't need. All for a price I am comfortable with. Thanks Westland, and especially, thanks Jhana!

I called in to get a quote and was speaking with Bobbie Indriliunas. I mentioned to her that I had been calling around to a few places to get quotes. Im glad I didnt get insurance from them because SHES EXTREMELY LAZY. She didnt bother to ask me the usual questions on the phone to put a quote together. Instead she just said to reply to the email with the usual questions the other companies had been asking. Unfortunately to get a quote they ask many, many questions. Many of them ask different questions. How should I know what info she needed. So her first and only email read "Let me know the info we discussed." *******We didnt discuss any personal info******** My reply back was "Sure, please kindly let me know what info you need from me." After which she ghosted me. I found her attitude to be very condescending. She was lecturing me about how I should have got insurance with the company my dad is with rather then venture out and find a different company. I dont see the crime in getting quotes. So avoid Bobbie Indriliunas, shes lazy and condescending.

Absolutely deplorable customer service. The individual who was managing my file previously was excellent, but apparently she left the company. My file was reassigned to an individual named John who failed to reach out to me, return my calls, or provide his contact information. Whenever you call the office, no one answers or returns voicemails. responds. I had an incident and was dealing with the insurance company but could not go through with the claim because the broker was nowhere to be found and could not tell me information about how the claim would impact my rates. I had to call a different branch to ask them to call this branch and have someone reach out. The East Village branch then ignored them. I cannot stress enough, do not use this branch as your broker or at least request a different broker if they assign you someone named John.

We contacted Westland about our most recent premium offer as we felt it had increased too much in one year. We were contacted promptly by an Insurance Advisor who assisted us in updating our property information. With her guidance we were able to easily bring all our information up to date and the result was a significant decrease to our yearly premium. Throughout the process our advisor was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. She replied to our questions quickly and processed all the changes with utmost expediency. Awful place to have your insurance. We had multiple policies for multiple years. You rarely deal with the same people,so have to explain the same thing over and over again. Customer service is below expectations. Every single year I have to call to receive a pink slip and every single year my name is mispronounced. Failed to give me description about coverage so when I needed the insurance, I had to learn it barely covers anything. Always have to request records and documents multiple times.As soon as my policy runs out I'll be terminating it and never look back. Would not recommend for anyone.

DO NOT get any insurance from this company! I left them few messages to cancel my policy as I left my rental apartment but no one called me back and I was still getting charged for insurance of a place that I wasn’t living in ! When I finally could get a chance to talk to their customer service they said they won’t return the money they took and now I see other people complained about same thing here ! I need to mention that these days companions grow based on their loyalty to the customers not what you do!!! you lost me and probably many others. Good luck

Horrible experience - after calling / emailing 7 times over the course of a week, I finally got my agent on the phone to cancel my policy. To no surprise, a week later they take the payment from my account. Now when I try to speak to them about this, they are of course impossible to get on the phone. Let alone the fact that I was told that no other agent would speak with me except the person assigned my account, despite me never having met 'my' agent. They're clearly understaffed and I have no trust in anything they tell me after this last experience.

Sharon Parks has been most instrumental in helping me renew my auto insurance, as well as correcting the usage from the prior term. She was very quick to respond, both by email and telephone. Sharon has been very efficient, professional and responsive to my needs. Sharon also connected me with an agent for house insurance, as I was inquiring about combining my car and house insurance. This response has been quick as well. She said to let her know if I didn't have a response to that in a day or two. So good response from both.

Ms Jenelle Carto was so great, she responds to my email really fast. I cancelled my insurance through them on November 2021 - got verbal AND email communication saying that it would be my last payment processed and a YEAR later they continued stating that I owed 4x what my last payment would have been - they won as I just paid the total balance so they wouldn't go after my credit, however this company is terrible. They have terrible customer service and you can absolutely find better rates elsewhere.
