Seems this place is somewhat better than when I was there with preeclampsia in 1971, I was very sick and it was obviously having a really bad effect on our baby. The high pressure was due to stress. My husband had not be able to find work after leaving Manchester University. So I took a job in the Holt Radium Institute to ensure we could eat and pay rent for our bedsit. When he did get work 6 months later meaning a move to Greater London when I asked to be released to be accompanied by a doctor friend to the hospital in Epsom, Withington refused. My high blood pressure rocketed as I could not deal with being virtually alone from mid November until early February. I was 19 at the time. In the end they insisted on delivering the little soul. He lasted overnight then due to RDS died. He was only 1.5lbs. We buried him in Barlow Moor, they didn't even want to let me attend his funeral. After his death, I was with pressure sores and for convenience I was put into a room by the nursery so I heard all the other babies crying all the time. It broke my heart as my little Andrew wasn't there. It was a teaching hospital and I was regalled by students who were wrong about everything. The final straw was when the consultant asserted to them that I would never have children and if I did they would be abnormal. Well I had my second child in the Epsom hospital I has asked to go to. My second son was born in Reading 4 years later. They are both gifted kids. I have nightmares about that place even now. This place should have been closed years ago, and I have never ever let doctors or hospital boss me around since. You have to fight these despotic doctors and hope the next generation have some respect for the suffering of patients.

Had a number of recent visits to Withington Hospital recently due to some minor hand surgery & follow up therapy visits. Hospital seems very efficient & friendly & not been a stressfull e perience at all. All the staff I've been referred to have been professional, friendly & fully informative as I've been progressing from the initial op under local through to my aftercare & physio. Hospital reachable by bus from centre of Manchester tram fairly near but short walk. Car park right along side. Set in West Didsbury which is a pleasant area the overall feel is quite relaxed & puts you at ease. Main reception is efficient. Security at entrance ensures covid protocol is kept to. Very grateful for treatment I've had here & much appreciation to all staff.

The Gynecology's department is an absolute joke, they are incredibly disorganized. They didn't know where my MRI results where, the day of the doctor appointment the nurses/secretaries didn't know where the doctor was, they booked me an appointment at the hospital face to face with the specialist and after waiting there for more than 35 minutes they said that was a telephone appointment, Me and my partner had to book time off at work to go to the hospital. I waited almost 5 months for a diagnose that should have been done in less than 62 days (2 months). Absolute nightmare. I hope I don't have to go to this hospital ever again.

The staff were great for my mammogram and for them I would give the five stars. I had training staff with me and they were very good. My only complaint was the car parking fee. its free for 20minutes, I was 25 mins, then it jumps to £3 for 2 hrs. I feel sorry for people on low income or pensioners who cannot afford these prices, the car park was fairly empty and I am sure that if you low the cost or give a price for 1 hr then you would make more money. It took me 7 mins to walk form the car to the department I need and it was at the from of the build, by the time you have filled in your admission form the 20minutes are up.

We went to see what damage was done to my partner and they couldn't of been more caring, they explained everything when our lad with additional needs shouted a lady who worked there has a girl with down syndrome she was amazing with him, she was so inclusive when other patients were tutting. Out of all the hospitals we've been to this was the cleanest and the best ran, all the drs and nurses knew exactly what they were doing. Could do with a few more surgeons is the only thing I can pick fault at but thats the same everywhere.

I would like to leave a review on my experience with gyn tier 2 Withington hospital Nell lane. I had my appointment with Dr T Hesse he is one of the loveliest caring doctors u could met. He listened to everything thing I said and answered all my questions. As I had many as my illness was so new to me. He was so gentle and patient with me. And made my illness not as scary as I knew he was supporting me on my journey to recovery. I would just like to say gyn 2 you have a diamond of a doctor on your team. Thank you.

Newer building, modern, clean, efficient. Surgical masks & sanitising gel at entrance and around hospital. Toilet facilities are excellent. All staff helpful & friendly. Great signage but staff will direct you if asked. No fuss, easy to speak to Receptionists who give clear instructions. They are behind screens. Not crowded and specific appointment times given. Everything clean down between patients. There is a car park and on-street parking. Several buses pass by. The metro stop is a short walk away.

My wife had to visit Dermatology department today with a worrying issue on her leg. We had a wonderful experience with a helpful receptionist a pleasant nurse followed by the two Doctors my wife saw. The both immediately diagnosed the problem and quickly administered treatment to remove the mole. Both Drs were extremely caring and lovely bedside manners. So important when we were both worried. Thank you to all those we saw today. Fantastic prompt and caring treatment

Really impressed after both my visits to Withington Hospital recently. The cafe staff are excellent - so kind and helpful. The reception staff in both clinics were fantastic . The consultants were great and able to understand me and work with me at my level and be plain and informative. Really impressed with the hospital and I'm relieved I'll now be getting regular support from one of the clinics for management of condition. Thank you all so much.

Yesterday I had cataract surgery after my retina detached last year. I'm only 50. The staff treated me like I was the only patient in there and so did my consultant and the surgeons. They were all fantastic and my name nursed whose hand I nearly squeezed off was amazing. I was only in there hour 45 mins Al done and dusted. Also if u are going here for cataract surgery u have no need to worry. From a very happy Mrs Gail Quinn. Thankyou

Attended for an ultrasound. I was in obvious pain, I had tears coming from my eyes and the two women who seen me didn’t care one bit. Very blunt and rude. 2 weeks later call my GP to chase (told I need keyhole surgery) to be told withington hospital have sent no paperwork/reports and I’ve now got to chase them when none of their contact numbers go through! Horrible place I will not go back. Wythenshawe hospital is much better!

  • Nick

Went there two hours early just to be told my appointment was cancelled and I asked if I could get my fair back and they said unfortunately no we can't like it's not my fault they decided to cancel absolute waste of time I was calm as anything while speaking to them so they had no reason not to give me my fair back if this happens again I will not be coming back to this hospital

  • Joanne Doyle

Wanted to make an appointment to have a new coil fitted after mine expelled. Nobody answers the phones ever so had to go in to be seen as a walk-in. 2 hour wait with my 2 kids under 3 with me is absolutely extracting the urine. 5 week wait then to get one fitted after that is ridiculous and I'm now looking into private options rather than have to deal with them again.

  • Sylvia Noble

I had my cataract operation done in your department on 12/7/21 and I would just like to say "a very big thank you" to all who were involved, namely the Consultant surgeon, nursing staff, admin staff and reception staff. I received first class care from start to finish. I am so grateful and thankful for the kindness shown to me.thank you all again very much.

  • Meeshy bee

Absolutely disgusted with the northern service, no info on the website to say you have to book an appointment, no appointments online when you try to book and they dont answer the phone , they just hang up on you. Clearly they don't care about helping people or their health. Telling people to Just keep trying online is ridicolous. Won't bother again!

  • sonia jahan

had an appointment at gyne ward with dr mehta she is extremely rude racist doesnt listen to me at all with 12 month of bleeding without blood test and scan told me its an unexplained bleeding her attitute with nurses and chaplon was extremely bad i dont want to see her ever again overall hospital and other staff is excellent as always

  • Tim K

I visited dermatology dept. Staff were lovely and professional. My doctor was excellent and explained everything taking time to answer all my questions aswell as teaching a student doctor (who was also great) I did have to wait 45 mins past my appointment time which was a little irritating. Parking prices are a bit steep also.

  • Christos Chaintoutis

Nice facilities friendly staff but overall the service is inadequate and less than expected. Definitely it leaves a taste of disappointment for the NHS with evidence of fragmented health care and people performing meaningless bureaucratic processes just to show that they are working. A very expensive car parking also.

  • Distort

Very good hospital, it's very clean and pleasant. The staff are helpful and freindly it's easily accessible waiting times tend to be pretty quick depending on what your appointment is for. Cafe at the front with freindly staff. Can't say much other than its a very nice place to be if you happen to go there.

  • Sujata Jobanputra

Like to say a BIG thank you to Lukman(security guard) for being so helpful! He noticed my mothet was struggling walking & Without being asked he got a wheelchair for her. On the way out he saw me struggling trying to get wheelchair over the metal strip in the doorway & came up to help out.

  • Chris Whitehead

Farting freely now. What a result! Ann Whitehead, thanks to Dr Alistair and the whole team who turned an ordeal into something totally different. It was a pleasure to meet u all and get through this so easily. Well done from start to finish. You are great professionals. Thank u all …

  • Wayne Broomhead

Really friendly staff, I went for a cataract referral. The chap asked for my dialysis days so he could plan the operation for when I’m not doing dialysis, to me that means a lot. Saves me messing around changing times and days. Much appreciate thank you guys, keep up the good work …

  • Helen Day-Mayer

Want to praise and thank the radiographer at the Withington site’s breast screening service who did my mammogram today (14 /5/21 @4.05). I was extremely anxious after a bad experience years ago. Charlotte was reassuring, kind - and very clear in communicating as she positioned me.

  • Danny C

Not been all the way into the hospital fully just the audiology department that is pretty much at the front of the hospital but overall seems like an ok hospital from what I seen and my experience there, friendly staff at the audiology department and was seen very quickly

  • MARTYN PEARSON

I've been here a few times now, about a year ago I had some X rays done and recently I have turned up for a few appointments with a physiotherapist. The staff seem ok and it's clean and warm. There's also a great café where you can get a hot drink and some food.

  • Gavin Manchester

Dreadful hospital. Many departments don’t answer telephones. Staff are rude and incompetent. With the exception of the doctors the admin and ward staff are mostly rough sorts of the local council estates. Wouldn’t trust leaving a dog in their care! Awful

  • Mitch Mottershead

I have been using the audiology department for several years. The staff are always helpful despite the pressures of recent times. The service I have received has always been first class throughout and thoroughly professional. Thank you one and all.
