I ended up with PTSD after birthing my son here. I had a brief but clear birth plan which the midwives may as well have set on fire in my face- every single point was completely ignored while they did whatever they wanted to me. After 14 hours the midwife insisted I needed an epidural, when the anaesthetist arrived he asked the midwife why the gas was turned down so low. I specifically stated no students whatsoever, yet my room was a constant stream of students barging in who I repeatedly had to ask to leave, midcontraction. After 28 hours, an obstetrician came in and asked why my pitocin was turned up so high, and I was given a husband stitch against my knowledge or consent. When I finally birthed my son, lying down, once again against my request, there were 7 staff spectating. My birth plan specifically stated no unnecessary people in the room. One baby. One birthing mother. There was literally no excuse for my body being used as a live cadaver for 5 irrelevant people, with zero consent in such a vulnerable moment in my life that I am still haunted by. When I was transferred to the ward my shower did not work and I was unable to walk as my epidural took days to wear off, but was repeatedly shamed by my 'nurse' for not getting myself breakfast or showering, despite begging for food and help to get to a shower. I left the hospital after less than 2 days, against their recommendations, because the nurses left me there to rot and sit in my own blood soaked sheets for hours on end, and I ended up with my first ever UTI as I wasn't able to use the bathroom regularly enough. Not a single person bothered to query why I was unable to walk. The other woman I had to share my room with was brought in at 3am and the nurse turned all of the lights on so they could make calls to family in India. When I finally made it to the bathroom she had left her blood all over the toilet seat. The nurse ignored my bell for over two hours so I had to go back and clean the blood up myself just to use the toilet. When we unfortunately had to take our second child to the PICU he was also used as a guinea pig while 3 separate doctors attempted to insert an IV, which we were promised he would not feel, but every doctor failed at inserting it. I ended up having to use myself as a shield to stop the last doctor repeatedly piercing my screaming baby's arm, after my 3 verbal requests for her to stop were blatantly ignored. To this day, 3 years later, our son is still petrified of anyone in scrubs. This hospital is an absolute disgrace, while there are some lovely doctors and nurses we met along the way, I hate to think how much unnecessary trauma patients of WCH have been through due to the consistent and blatant disregard for basic consent, instead treating patients like farm animals on a conveyor belt.

Been to WCH tonight in Womens Assessment Emergency Department for the first time in my life. Waited for 2 hours n no one really came to us to understand why we were there. Husband pressed the bell to request assistance, Olivia the midwife came n told us that they don’t know when would they be able to see me. Then she went on asking questions as to what went wrong with me. She went on to say we are not sure even if at all they will see me or not. Not a word of apology as to why she made us wait that long n hasn’t really cared to ask us the problem earlier. Atleast a quick understanding, tips n then could have said you go home n rest. I don’t understand why they think wasting people’s time is so convenient for them. Reception n nurses were sharing laughs n chit chatting , heartless treatment towards people in pain. We decided to come back home. We are both tax payers n this sort of treatment towards someone who is in your emergency department is shocking. Please guys have some compassion.

Just had a surgical procedure done here at WCH. Dr. Hillen ( gynecologist) the anaesthetist ( forget his name), his team were very professional and explained things so efficiently before the procedure. Nurses Rebecca, Renée, Marty and Binu were wonderful. A special shout-out to Marty who took good care of me and to Binu who was extremely helpful. Thank you Binu and Marty for being so understanding , gentle and kind ! Highly recommend this hospital!!

Short wait for my son's opthalmologist appointment had eye drops administered then while waiting for them to take effect we went and got coffee and hot chips then my son (8yo) went to the starlight room and he got to play a car game on the PlayStation 5, went back to the opthalmologist and had his eyes examined. All up he enjoyed this experience.

You do not want to be unfortunate enough to have a sick child with stomach issues. No-one answers the phone or email in the gastroenterology department. The care factor and follow up is non existent leaving parents to fend for themselves! Terrible, given this is the only hospital in Adelaide you can attend if your child has gut issues.

Considerably inefficient and disorganised hospital in Australia. Administration staff need improving a lot. We went to the emergency reception and this is 28th October. The lady on the emergency reception was too slow and incompetent. She was even using her phone without attending to the lined up emergency patients.

I came in seizing and passing out with constant vomiting and waited there for a couple hours just to be seen then they gave me a tablet that didn't work a saline drip and then said there was nothing wrong with me and if I didn't leave they were calling security to kick me out. I don't even have a way home

It’s been a year since I had my baby here. It was a traumatic experience to say the least. I am traumatised by the treatment of the midwives. I had my son during COVID but the way I was treated was terribly poor. I never want to conceive again due to the way I was treated here. Very upsetting.

We went with our 3-year-old boy for an emergency, he did not breathe well and was attended to immediately, The nurses and doctor had lovely attitudes, and our son's treatment was monitored all the time. In addition, clean place, with adorable decorations. Thanks for your services.

Birthing unit was good, but the after care was horrendous. I was put through terribly painful treatments when I had explicitly requested to be put under general aesthetic but was pressured into not doing it. They don't care about your mental well-being at all.
