In the 'Good Old Days' about fifty years ago there was a military airfield there which was also available for private domestic fights. No runways, just land on grass into the wind. Sometimes tricky because of turbulence rolling over from Table Mountain. You could land there and catch a train to Town, or Muizenberg, or Simonstown. Had the fortune to land there in 1969, but it was closed, probably in 1971. Upon checking my old records, though, it was not actually Wynberg, but the nearby Youngsfield. Currently the Nearest Airport is Cape Town Inernatioal and nearest Airfiels at Stellenbosch. Ysterplaat (Military) is somewhere between very seldom to no longer used. Could and should have been handed over to civilian General Aviation.

When there for a karate tournament Bit hidden away not easy to find as there is no markers to show you the way to the hall.nice hall .fantastic facilities clean toilets on the men side there is only one toilet had .to stand in a line to go in ..parking is also limited

Great venue and facilities, enough space, ample parking and great personnel to assist with any and everything. Hall can get hot during warm days with not too much air flow, but bearable - it won't prevent high performance sports from continuing.

Only they dnt allow private cars to get in even if yu have a patient who is sick they have to walk up and i hear another police officer s wife collapsed along the road after he was denied entry. And i hear there is someone with a car that's

The most fully equipped sports centre I've seen. Soccer field, cricket oval, indoor hockey, basketball and volleyball, even tennis. Great place to host large sporting meets!

An excellent venue to host a karate event. Clean ablutions, adequate seating and floor space. Kitchen facilities also available. Sufficient parking space too!

Very rude personal at their gate. They don't respect Military uniforms and country at large. It is a nice place but they have idiots at the gate.

This is on of the use sport complex in Military more especially in Western Cape. This place is use for hockey training and tournaments.

Celebrated a 40th at WMB Stadium..Was absolutely AMAZING..First Time as old as I am to have been on the base and it was a PRIVILEGE .

A well maintained sports ground and a perfect place to host tournaments and also have a day camp or holiday club for the little ones.

Nice venue, except for the security that was not quite as aspected. Items was stolen while function was in process.
