This is my second year at this school. I earnestly considered leaving a 1-star review on this school, deciding against it as that would have been trivial. Even I have to admit, as a student who dislikes this school with fervor, if one values an education, this school is one of the best. Not providing a great deal of extracurricular activities (though the options readily available are rather expensive), not many distractions are given to students. Nonetheless, this school is significantly too much for any middle school student to handle. The teachers tend to push political views -be it republican or democrat- on students. Many of the teachers, in my short-lived experience in this school, are awfully self-serving. (I am not going to name a particular educator, but if you attend this nauseating school, you will understand who I am referring to) Several teachers quickly go over a topic through examples, and then give the class a quiz. If a student asks a question, some teacher will actually mock said student in front of their peers. This is coming from my first-hand experience as a student; I, myself, have been teased my teacher after asking a pointedly 'stupid' question. Not by other students, but by my educator. Do you believe this to be a proper learning environment? If so, how can a facility where teachers physically refuse to answer a students questions lend itself to a students grades? Other teachers are simply condescending in everyday scenarios, whether it be asking to use the restroom or getting a sheet of paper for an assignment. This previous year, my first year at this school, was so overwhelming. I was stressed beyond belief, and I pray my younger sister doesn't have to attend this hell of a school. Yes, this school is small and offers a great education. But is it really worth it if your child is having monthly mental breakdowns from stress? If your child is not having any time to do after-school activities due to homework? Any fifth graders considering attending this school, please, don't. it's simply too much work. The Macbooks may be enticing, I know they were for me, but unless you are willing to sacrifice your time, as well as sleep and happiness, don't. -With love, Nichole.

for me, making friends was hard when i first got here, but when i adjusted i met my own group of friends, but the teachers are welcoming and most of the students are nice when you adjust in here. this school is mostly good for the academics so if you love to study, i recommend this school but it can cause a lot of stress/anxiety if you don’t adjust, but most of the students are used to it by now. most of the students graduate with a scholarship once they graduate and many students have gone far with this school. some highschoolers are super nice to the 6th graders. i love ms brito, shes super sweet and helps you with math and mostly gives you time to finish homework but sometimes you gotta be fast in math class. mr thompson is also helpful with language arts and his class is generally a little boring but him as a teacher makes it atleast a little better. ms camejo is super sweet and she helps you with any spanish work and if u take her as an elective, she doesnt give out homework and helps you alot! other teachers as you get older get a little more stressful but i guess people are used to it now i guess? but the clubs are amazing and make alot of sales and activities and the staff other than the teachers are a little strict but ok i guess. also, the food isnt that good here tho. some people dont eat their food because of how gross it is. some students get food poisoning from it and i feel like they need to improve their food lol, the good thing is that it’s free but eh.. lol. other than that this school is good but can improve too.

I feel like this school is good for the academics. However, emotionally this school can be draining and the constant nagging of certain staff is irritating. As a student, I feel as if the school focuses too much on maintaining their reputation as one of the top four schools instead of being more interactive with how the students are feeling. The staff don't clearly understand what we ,the students, have to say about the improvements that could be made to better the school. Some teachers even tell us all we do is complain instead of hearing us out. Also, some teachers need to realize that being intimidating or constantly expressing your emotions about how much students aren't as grateful and disciplined as them won't help us build relationships with our teachers. I have a few teachers who love comparing our generation with theirs and emphasizing the fact that we need to be respectful. Although at times I do agree with them about being respectful to staff, as some students are a bit over the top behavior-wise, there is no need in telling us that we are "disgusting" and so on. There are also some things between students that make me uneasy too. However, there aren't only bad things to say for this school. There are great people to meet here at the school.

Do not go to the school. Some of the teachers refuse to answer questions or have you wait to answer those questions the art classes are very intense. She told me I don’t follow directions and all I had to do was copy to art. It’s mentally draining and I’m leaving. The food is horrible. The uniforms are expensive and ugly and they are very strict on IDs. Also, they give out a lot of homework. The buses are disgusting. The teachers not all of them are bad or rude. Mr. Diaz is the best! Kind of big on attendance. I personally have a Lotta anxiety, and I also compare myself a lot to other people because you see girls there exceeding and having straight A’s in doing a bunch of extra activities out of the school and they make it look easy no hate to the girls keep doing what you’re doing. It’s just kind of hard because you feel like you’re not trying your best when you’re trying your best I can really trying and then you get like a 38 on a test. It’s just very personally me I got to a point where I didn’t care about my grades when I’m actually very big on my grades so my mother was surprised when I told her yeah don’t recommend go here

I am a 2020/2021 student of YWPA and I just want to say that I LOVE this school! I was sad when I saw those other comments because kids said this is a hard school but it’s really not, just is challenging. I saw things about my math teacher, Ms. Brito, and I just want to say that she doesn’t have a hard and horrible class, in fact I love her class. Ms Brito gives us like 1 video exercise to finish and even if you don’t finish it during those 2 days she (sometimes) let’s you finish it for the next class. Also Ms. Brito is one of YWPA’s highest passing percentage in the FSA, so please respect her ways of teaching. ~xoxo Leonie ❤️☺️

the school is good but the teacher umm MRS.brito is so rude to the students she yell at the black kids she only call out the back kids ....she have favorites she's always on her phone she call people parents she want the work how she want it and when she want it the students are split up she told a African American girl that she don't like her and the other African American girl together but she let the Hispanic and whites together she always screaming now for the students they are very diverse and the only one who tries to solve things are Mrs.P she talk to every student about they problems they need new workers A.S.A.P

  • Livingwithjonesta ._

I sincerely dislike this school..If you are an open-spirited person this school is not for you.Theres one teacher names Ms.Brito who doesnt leave you alone about your reputation she talks down on me all the time and its getting out of hand. She goes on and on about how i dont belong in this school because im not good enough..She makes me feel dumb all the time. She doesnt really care about the darker colored people.Attitude for no reason. She called my mom the other day because I did not have a pencil. If you dont want drama and headaches please do not attend or just dont take Ms.Britos class

I attended Young woman’s preparatory academy from 6th grade to 8th grade I am currently a senior in high school. YWPA was the best school, environment, and family anyone could ever have. My most memorable teachers and school experiences all go back to to this place that will always hold a place in my heart. My teachers always wanted the best for me even though i might not have had the school spirt at the time, but looking back I know that Young woman’s preparatory academy and all the people i was able to have a relationship with have positively shaped me into the person I am today.

No Christmas at this school or at least no Christmas songs, because according to the music teacher Christmas songs may offend people of other religions. Have you ever actually encountered some one that was offended when you said Merry Christmas or by singing " Santa Claus is Coming to Town ". The amazing part is Political Correctness will do anything to whip our own heritage away. Very Sad . This is part of USA culture we need to protect and nurture. What a disappointment this school has become.Merry Christmas to all.

I hate the uniform, we shouldn't be forced to wear skirts. We should have the option of pants as well, like and actual suit. Also some of the teachers *cough cough* Mr Garcia *cough cough* are really rude, and give us extra homework if we don't finish the notes. Y'all should just go to a different school, don't waste your time here. The only redeeming qualities is some of the students. Most of them are quite nice actually. Except the six graders... I think they took something...

  • River

i like this school tbh, it’s okay, the classes are hard at first but you get used to that after a little while. the people are cool, some of the teachers aren’t responsible enough to do anything they say they will, but that’s only like one or two and they will by the end of the grading period so don’t worry. most of the teachers are amazing and the clubs here are awesome. So it’s hard to get used to, but you can do it if you want to. <33

If you're a free spirited individual this is not the school for you. But if you are all about learning and no creativity then go ahead. Went here for 2 years. Certain teachers were awesome like Mr.Cruz, Ms.Daub, and Ms.Burrows. They made my learning fun. I needed to always be on my feet due to me being gifted but not all teachers had interesting curriculum and just didn't understand it. If you have those 3 teachers you will be fine.

Im in sixth grade which is my first year. Good school but you can get really stressed with all the work especially if you have a side sport like me with dance. Dance takes some of my time from homework away but this school teaches you a lot and can give you a full payed scholarship. WARNING: gives you a lot of work and can give anxiety and stress. Love this school though. Teachers are fun and funny.

  • tealuvr333

ppl are so dramatic. this school is fine. i understand some reviews, but others are so funny. like honestly yes i am constantly stressed, but im stressed from trying hard and i hope its worth it later on. the academics are great, the challenge is as well. i have amazing friends and all that ive made here. a lot of both sides of the spectrum for this school but all in all people ar so dramatic..

Worst experience of my life. Went here for 2 years and I genuinely despised it. Im so glad I left, ever since I left I had a better time learning and communicating with people. This school pretends to be amazing and just perfect for your daughter but dont be fooled just because of its title. Would never reccomend this school, not even to my worst enemy.

  • Rene Macias

My daughter has been going to this school for 4 years and I must say this school is as advertised! The education is superb, however if you want to just show up in class and goof your way through school this is not the school for you. But if you’re willing to grind and put in some major effort this is the place. In the end the hard work always pays off.

I live in nw and I go to Carrie P Meek and I'm really smart.I am in 5th grade. My 3rd teacher suggest I go to a magnet school. I looked around and I saw this all girls school. I decide I want to come here. Also my best friend Janae suggest we should go there together, because she lives near there. What should i do?

  • Mila Angulo

The school overall is nice and the education is amazing the but the kids and teachers are rude and there are so many problems with the teachers. I heard one of the teachers searched a kids backpack. But as long as you maintain good grades and make friends with the right people youll do good in the school.

  • Kiterlox2

In seventh grade, students are mean, teachers give overload of homework but substainable, some teachers just never stop and try to understand you, their mean. Horrible uniform. And again students are toxic. And the lunch area is small and squished, no space for everyone. Ruined my mental health.

  • Alec Brandt

never mind i change my mind ms.brito is supper nice she doesn't deserve all of this hate she is really sweet with her students and she seems to love her job you might not understand he class at first but once you do her classes get fun and you enjoy them she is a supper nice teacher :D

  • Jenifer

I wanted to be in this school, but the woman who I talked to treated me like garbage just because I said I'm taking alberga 1 for 9th grade, it would have been so much better if she was polite since she's a part of that school, seemed a good school but no respect at all.

  • Kayla Rusk

I've been at this school since middle school and I fully believe the rigorous AP and honors classes are preparing all the students to succeed in college. I am a senior and I am glad that I took, " the road less traveled by".

  • Isabella Diaz

It’s a great school, all the teachers want their students to learn. I really enjoyed all the activities they do. The food is not the best but it’s okay. I really recommend to all parents to get your daughters in this school.

  • Dani

Not a big fan of this school the teachers are to pressuring & get mad for no reason fast and the dress code on Wednesday is kinda dumb I wouldn’t attend this school ever again chief 4 life …

I love this school. They have done the best for my daughter Anais, especially Ms. Brito. If you like small schools, send your daughter here because they are the best.

  • Amy K Rodriguez

This isn't a good school. The teachers aren't helpful. And they always pretend that they are a good school when they are not. I really want to leave.

  • Tracer Trace

I'm impressed by this school. The parking and traffic is horrible, but the school itself is very secure and the teachers and staff are excellent.

  • Sofia Gallo
