The food is always delicious here! From salads to pastas, pizzas and their special fried chicken, it’s always spot on. For a while the service was spotty. We would come in and have excellent service and the next time it almost felt like they pulled someone in off the streets to serve us. Just not consistent, which can make or break a dining experience. I’m happy to say that the last 4 times I’ve been to A Mano the service was consistently great! A Mano is such a cool space. Please please please turn down the music though. This is not a club! Most people go out to eat to have conversations over the food and drinks. I find myself actually having to yell just so my companion can hear what I’m saying across the narrow table. Everyone else is shouting as well so you are hearing the person next to you loud and clear but not your actual dining companion across from you. It’s really unnecessary. Also I believe an outside chair update is due! They have gotten a lot of Milage out of those tiny, low, highly uncomfortable stools outside. Not everyone is 5’4” with a tiny behind and 25 years old! I do love coming on a Sunday afternoon and sitting outside in the outdoor space they created. Very lovely! I also wish they would put a Bloody Mary on the menu for the weekend brunch. We usually head over to Hazies for a pre brunch Mary. They are delicious over there but I be A Mano could do one even better!

Busy place that is worth a wait in line for delicious Italian plates. Walking inside you’ll step right towards the small bar area, in the case you only wanted a drink while you wait. There isn’t much room to hang around at the bar so instead gaze at the bar wall to enjoy. Great drink selection to choose from. The Pinot Nero was amazing, with a hint of sweetness that made it as such like a subtle sangria that I was a fan of. We tried a selection off their menu to get a feel for what they had offer instead of limiting ourselves to one item (best decision). My favorite— the burratta appetizer. Both of us were fawning over this dish and I wish this was a larger plate. I’m not sure I’ve had mushrooms quite so good before. I will come back to aMano just for this plate alone. I found myself a little disappointed there was no tiramisu on the dessert menu so I turned to the Budino, this creamy hazelnut ramekin that turned out to be even better than my taste buds were expecting. Great richness and not too over powering, and enough to cap off the evening sweet tooth.

Absolutely fantastic. Came at a very weird hour between lunch and dinner and the menu is smaller (about three pasta selections), but so much care was devoted to the dish. A lot of parm which I loveeee. Umami with citrus was so innovative and fun. Also perfect temperature - weird to note but you know when you get pasta that’s just toooo hot? No, they’ve mastered it. I just have to keep raving about subtle citrus taste with this braised lamb rigatoni dish and it was so unique and spectacular! Perfect sauce to pasta ratio. Adorable setting and space in SF too, in a really sweet area and the outdoor seating is really fun, one long train station-esque bench with cute yellow mini square tables. There’s paid parking on neighboring streets so it isn’t too hard on that front, which was nice. Such a gem!!

Came here when they first opened and so the wait was always long. You can now put your name on a waitlist on Yelp which helps a lot. Waited for my dinner companion at the bar as they don’t seat you until everyone is there. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There was band playing on the street and folks wandering around Patricia’s Green or the shops so not too bad of you have to wait. Food was delish as usual. Got the pasta this time. I don’t always recognize the name of the pasta so I have to look it up. They had a nice selection of wine and cocktails. We were going to watch a show at Bill Graham afterwards so we needed a coffee drink with a little extra. They didn’t have Amaretto so we got brandy instead.

OVERALL: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Perfect late night place after a show at the neighbouring theatres. We found this as it was one on the few places open after we got out of the Opera House. Excellent Pizza and Pasta !!! We have - Mushroom Pizza - excellent flavors with the best crust. It did not get floppy or soggy. - Spaghetti with Early Girl Tomatoes - Simple flavors done well with the freshest produce. 9-29-2023 - Dinner - Table for 2

They have indoor and outdoor options. I took a dog with me and sat outside, which was comfortable enough. I sat in the street construed table area which, in my opinion, was better than the sidewalk section because I didn't have to deal with the tons of people walking by. This place seems really popular and very busy at lunch time, so I was lucky to get a seat. For that reason, the service was a little slow, so be reasonable if you go at a busy time. I got the cauliflower appetizer and rigatoni entree. The food was ok but both were missing something I can't put my finger on. I had some wine and cocktail, Dantes Inferno. I'm not so sure about the food but I can tell people come for the drinks and ambiance.... maybe even the pizza and appetizer based off what I saw.

Wow I was so surprised since I thought that this place might have been overhyped but I was wrong! Good: - Awesome focaccia bread, I think it was some of the crispiest focaccia bread I’ve had 5/5 - I loved the bucatini pasta here and the flavor of the sauce 5/5 - The short rib pasta was great too 4/5 - Funghi pizza was 3/5 in my opinion since it wasn’t as flavorful and a bit oily - Nice ambiance - good catch-up vibes Bad: - Wait times were CRAZY long I felt like it was 30 min or 45 min till we got all our food Overall, loved the food and vibe here and would come back.

Spacious, with interior ans exterior sitting. We ordered the duck liver moose which is not as tasty as foie Gras, and a funghi pizza. I really enjoyed this pizza with its large amount of melted cheese and mushrooms. We also ordered two of their signature cocktails. The Godfather and the Il Cubano. Both were refreshing and unique in taste. The Il Cubano looks like a sidecar but don't let looks fool you. It is a sweeter Mai Tai style drink. I say check it out.

Second time at this restaurant. It's just okay. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. I had a decent cacio e pepe, but it wasn't quite what I am used to (and I eat cacio e pepe often). The clams my wife had were not very good, she said. I didn't try them. The prices are a bit high, even by the standards of the neighborhood. I expected a bit more due to the reputation of this place. Instead, we'll continue to frequent North Beach Italian restaurants. We've had more success dining there.

What a surprising place! Delighted that location and the patio and the food impressed ! The perfect blend of flavours in the pizza that were not over powering but also not boring either. The food was very well prepared, served hot and service was exceptional. We over heard one of the guests raving about the heirloom tomatoes in their salad and another table was also very complimentary of their meal. Over all exceptional and pleasant, patio was very nice balance of street activity and privacy.

December 2023: Been meaning to try this restaurant for a long time. Fortunately, stopped by for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Tried the mushroom radiatori and the gemelli. Both were very tasty . The radiatori was vegetarian and made with a creamy cheesy sauce. The gemelli was lighter and had a nice sausage. Service was attentive. Next time, I would try the pizza.

Came around 12:15 PM on a Sunday, and was seated quickly outdoors! The vibe is quite nice with umbrellas and the bench seating. We ordered the focaccia, bianca pizza, and fried chicken special. All of the food was pretty good, with the fried chicken really standing out. We'd definitely come back to try the pastas and cocktails for dinner. The outdoor seating was great for dogs!

Standard, no frills, and decently portioned dishes but I personally prefer more flavor, especially for the Spaghetti Alla Vongole. Unfortunately I did not get the chance to try any of the desserts! I would not go out of my way to come back, but this is a good restaurant for those who like the ambiance of Hayes Valley and don't mind food that's not out of the ordinary.

Ate dinner here straight after coming off a flight. Ordered the Arancini (which was very small, but delicious) and the rigatoni which was everything I needed it to be. The sauce was good (lots of pepper) and it definitely settled my stomach. The green pasta pictured is the mafaldine which was good but not great. Service was awesome! You can dress casually

Great location. Beautiful bar. Decent food. Ive been here three times now. Each time i walk away wanting more, especially in the value department. The food doesn’t blow you away but the restaurant does well because Hayes Valley. Servers have always been nice and accommodating each time. The best Italian we had so far. We couldn't have enough of the bread and ordered more for carryout. Pasta fabulous texture and taste. Cauliflower great appetizer. Deserts wonderful too. Staff are so friendly and waiting time reasonable considering it is so popular. Absolutely revisit if we travel to SF again.

Gave it a 4 star because they ran out of the house special for the evening. It was only 7:30. Plus, they put the special menu on our table so I had my heart set on it only to be told they ran out. Bummer. Other than that it was good.

4 stars for overall ambiance (i.e. indoor and outdoor seating, heaters), 3 stars for food selection. My favorite pizza in general is Margherita; Margherita at A Mano is adequate. The ear mushroom pasta that was previously offered on the menu was outstanding, but regrettably, it is no longer available.

Great pasta, freshly made. We order 3 pasta, 2 apps and a craft of wine. The pasta were great, we ordered a 3rd plate for our dessert. The pasta portions aren't huge so one might not be enough for a person. Pizza looked amazing but next time. Go early restaurant filled up by 6:15 on a Tuesday night.

Favorite Italian in SF! Definitely go for the pesto and the salad with peaches and arugula. I eat vegetarian but my friends order the ragú and other stuff and loved it. Beautiful venue, amazing and fast service and really worth the wait (it wasn’t that long also). Great wine selection too.

Great Italian food! Been here several times with smaller and larger groups and it is great for both. I have ordered many of the different pastas and appetizers. Everything has always been delicious. My personal favorite is the bucatini all’amateiciana More

This was a great spot to grab drinks for a casual happy hour. Lots of outdoor seating with heaters. They don't offer indoor dining until around 4pm so we sat at the bar for drinks. The bartender was very friendly and it was a treat to watch

  • Laura Wong

The pasta and pizza here is amazing! We stopped by here for a bite to eat before heading to union square and it's a super short walk. Would recommend getting the pesto pasta and fungi pizza. The pasta was incredibly fresh and the noodles

  • Daniel G

Not a great first-time experience even for a Friday night. Slow service with a bartender with an afro who looked annoyed and did not want to do two simple things for me: 1 Small cup of cheese and make a drink. Moving on to the rigatoni

  • Felice

I got the bucatini, a glass of wine and the pistachio gelato. Everything was good, but nothing stood out as spectacular hence my 4 star rating. I think for San Fran it's pretty affordable as well, so I'd definitely come back.

  • Karen Gao

I came with some girlfriends for lunch but we missed their service. Instead we got the mid lunch service which had limited options. The pasta and pizza were all pretty good, but i’ll definitely come back for the full menu.

Fancy, hip Italian spot with a beautiful bar that was great for a night out with friends. Unfortunately, nothing on the menu was marked vegan, but our waitress was super nice and was able to answer all my questions.

Fantastic food! High, high quality pastas and appetizers. Loved the Bucatini with a sunny side up on top. The Arancini & Burrata were really good as well. Great service, on a fun street. Would definitely return. More

A very consistent brunch place here in Hayes. Parking will be hard if you're not from around here, so try to look on some streets a block or two away and work outwards.
