Service was excellent; we were able to order drinks within minutes. We had 15 minutes before the 2-4-1 cocktail offer was over so we went to town & ordered 4 each. The staff had no problem with this at all. It’s 2-4-1 every day until 7pm! The cocktails were thoroughly enjoyable & felt potent there’s a broad selection of spirits & flavours so something for everyone. We loved the Vanilla Velvet & Amaretto Colada We ordered the Tamatanga Thali. You get salad, poppadums & chutney, 2 veg dishes, daal of the day, raita, rice, a naan or roti & 2 curries of your choice - £19.95 Who doesn’t ♥️ a pick’n’mix dinner? We had ours with: Garlic chilli chicken Railway cabin lamb x2 Lamb chettinad The lamb was cooked very well & it was quite lean. All of the curries we chose were labelled as hot/spicy, but for us they weren’t. They were however really flavoursome & totally delicious. As they were small & part of a bigger selection this was fine, but maybe if they’d been ordered as mains we’d have been disappointed. The garlic chilli chicken is a garlic lovers dream! So full of flavour & the chicken was juicy & moreish. We’d definitely order this as a main dish! The accompaniments were decent & a nice variety. We expected the naan to be too big, but it was perfectly sized. Luke went for a coriander one and loved it! The only thing that let it down for us was the dahl. It was total slop! Overall the Thali was good & an excellent choice if it’s your first visit as you get to try lots of things. We’d advise this dish if you don’t plan on doing anything afterwards & can pop your trousers open in the comfort of your own home. We’d go again, but we’d try a proper main next time.

Really enjoyed the garlic chilli chicken curry, my only gripe being that the garlic was not crushed (as it states on the menu), but raw sliced up cloves were thrown straight into the dish, which, even from a real fan of garlic, is just wrong. It was a very tasty meal, it just let it down slightly for me as I had to keep checking my fork to ensure I wasn't about to chew down and be assaulted by whole chunks of garlic. My only other negative is we were told it'd be 45 mins for a table (itself not an issue), so pre-booked and went to Brewdog round the corner for a drink, which we then had to rush due to a text 15-20 mins later stating our table was now free and had 10 mins to be there, or lose it. You could argue this is a good thing, but as we'd settled down with drinks, it was just a shame we had to rush them after worrying about losing the table. Ending on a positive, the chilli cheese naan was absolutely sensational and put together different from anywhere else I've eaten before, the drinks were superb and complimented the meals well, especially appreciated the nice variety of mocktails available, great if you're driving! Authentic, yet somewhat westernised decor throughout which made for a unique vibe too in my opinion.

First time visit...Great food & service and very reasonable prices. Ordered 1 Thali with Punjab Buttered Chicken and 1 Tamatanga Thali with both Chicken Tikka Masala & Railway Carrage Lamb...along with the included sides & bread etc. The Tamatanga Thali could be shared between two people...I was feeling hungry and was struggling to finish. Good flavours from all round especially the Railway Carrage Lamb so soft and tender. Forget the more expensive curry establishments...head here. Also worth noting I did notice there was many Asian folk eating here when we passed earlier in the day and upon our return to eat. I think that alone says more then any review. 10/10 Never been but also in Leeds Leicester & Nottingham.

I went there with work colleagues for causal dinner after work. It was mid week and we didn’t have reservation. The restaurant was busy and We have to wait for about 20 mins before getting a table. The staff was super friendly, once we had a table, we were attended quickly, orders taken and drinks arrived promptly. It didn’t take long for food to arrive either except Biriyani dish which took extra 5-6 minutes. The food was excellent, and flavourful. Green lamb and Railway lamb was not greasy, or had food colours or too much spices to mask low quality food like some restaurants do. Lamb dishes were served with nans (2) or choice of rice. Vegetarian thali had number of curries. Personally I liked non veg food but vegetarian colleagues enjoyed the thali. There was so too much food in the thali for a single person to finish. The atmosphere was very good to complement the food. Prices are reasonable too. I would recommend this restaurant and would visit again..

The actual food was lovely. The naan is delicious, thin and has a slight crisp. The chicken was incredibly tender; though the curry itself was pretty standard to any other good curry in Birmingham in my opinion and didn't really reflect the price. The biggest issue is that I had to ask for my bill 3 times, get up to get the manager to give me my bill, then get up again to pay the bill because we had no service. Nobody asked if we wanted another drink, nobody checked our food was okay. Once we had ordered we didn't exist and it took 45 minutes,of waiting to be able to pay and id probably still be there now if I hadn't got up myself. While it isnt insanely expensive it is absolutely not a cheap meal and I expect better service when I'm paying £15 for a chicken curry.

Visited on a weekday at 3PM with a party of four. Positives - Delicious curries - Fast service - Central location - Decent value for money (not an arm and a leg but standard in this day and age) Not So Positives - Gets quite busy so would recommend booking in advance - Service was quick when we were served but was a little hard to flag someone down at times - Appreciate their policy to bring food out as and when it's ready but it's a bit awkward when youre sat there for ages waiting for your friends meals to arrive Overall, really good and will be returning!

Absolutely fantastic place, from the second we walked in our mouths were watering from the smell of the food cooking, we were seated quite quickly to the table we had booked. Looking through the menu, we were spoiled for choice on potential dishes to try (being our first time) the management team assisted us in choosing dishes to avoid allergy issues. The food, service and atmosphere was excellent. Highly recommend and will be coming again for sure

We had 2 different allergies on the table, the manager came personally to ask and recommend what could and couldn't be eaten. And the chef also made changes to certain dishes to aid in being able to eat what we had ordered

Food was fantastic and the portions were generous for the price point. A good selection of cocktails with good 2for1 promo. All of us ordered Thali which were really good value for money. For £17-19pp, you get 5-6 varieties of dips and curries along with a naan bread and lots of rice. The lamb curries were especially good, palatable flavours and tender meat. The only downside is that the restaurant was incredibly busy and the service was slow despite a reservation. That being said, you’d definitely save a lot of waiting time with a reservation. Overall, the service was friendly although slow. I like the vibes of the dinning atmosphere and feel that I get good values for my money. I would definitely come again when I come to Birmingham next time.

Delicious food! Perfect for Indian cuisine. I'd definitely recommend bang bang chicken and Chaat bombs. We ordered tamatanga Thali in which we can choose 2 different curries and the chef will choose the rest. Been there twice within 2 days and got a nice variety of dishes to try. We also tried Dal Makhni and paneer Makhni main dishes which come with our choice of bread. My sister loved their chilli cheese naan. Moreover, you can also download the tamatanga app for rewards. As every time you eat you get points. Amazing view, nice atmosphere and delicious food.

Food is pretty expensive but I guess for the location and atmosphere you don't mind the atmosphere was nice decor was presentable A meal for 5 cost us £190 and a drink without dessert. (Without any alcoholic drinks) Parking was a joke £7 on the side street or multi carpark is roughly £5 Would I go again? I would yes but only on occasions due to the price that's my personal opinion.

Delicious food. Best restaurants for vegan as well as non vegans. Halal food with the best service. Thali is the best thing to have a taste of Indian food. Prawn curry and peachy punch is the best combination. Even kids had a great meal and time with puzzles and crayons. The ladies serving are super humble and friendly. Very well cooked food and well served. Will recommend as first priority. Will visit again.

This place has got a very vibrant interior..I loved it ! We had dinner from this place..we ordered chicken biryani, chilli chicken and cheesy chilli naan..and for drinks we had a raspberry mocktail and cucumber mocktail..the drink were super tasty but the chicken in the chicken biryani wasn't too good.. cheesy chilli naan was yummy whereas the chilli chicken was tasty enough but not the best..

We had the special thali with butter chicken and garlic chicken. Everything on the plate was really good. If two people are sharing its best to order another naan with the thaali. We also had paneer tikka and bang bang chicken for starters. Both were really good and a must have! The mango mocktail was a bit too sweet for my liking but overall a great meal.

Visited this diner on Saturday evening for date night Lady at the cocktail bar really made the drinks with care and attention and that was reflective in the presentation and the taste, would recommend the peachy blinder! Was seated within 20 minutes despite being told it would possibly be 40 minutes I went for the railway cabin lamb which is full of flavours! For a chain the curry is absolutely spot on and tastes very authentic! The tama chips and chilli cheese naan are a must! Highly recommend if you like your Indian food

Delicious food, so fresh and tasty and amazing cocktails. The bar staff and the waiting staff were lovely and attentive too. We got a goan fish curry bowl and a paneer makhni bowl both served with naan. Both dishes were delicious and rich - I would definitely recommend the goan fish curry! We had 2-4-1 cocktails before 7pm too which were both lovely - forgot the name of them but so nice and sweet! Also came on a Friday evening where it was very busy and got seated in no time and food and drinks came out quickly! Can’t wait to return - thanks for the lovely meal :)

Went there last minute with a large group (9-10 people). The host was very accommodating despite the place being packed. The food itself was good. As we're the drinks. The presentation for both was top notch. The staff were always attentive and even helped us split the bill etc. The Ambience despite the small sized place was pretty good. Overall a great experience! Will certainly be back when I am around.

Best Indian food in the city centre. Wild thing is, service is so quick no matter how packed the restaurant is. Their design is beautiful and the staff are always there to help with the menu as can get a bit complicated for me. Their curries are one of the best in Birmingham. Best Indian food in Bram I'd say. Their thali was amazing and the quality of the food was excellent. The food was rich in flavours and it felt like I'm actually having the food in India. Goes without saying, the place is jam packed with people and if you want to have a meal make sure you ring them and make a reservation. Would 100 percent recommend to anybody for lovely indian food. Oh also they have amazing cocktails and drinks if you're in the waiting line.

We didn't book and turned up on the off chance we could get in, it was a busy Friday evening. We had to wait about 20 minutes, we sat in the bar and had a drink and when our table was ready our waitress came to collect us. We ordered our food and it came about pretty quickly about 15 minuite wait. Food was hot a good portion size and tasted good. A couple of drinks and the bill was resonable.

You can enjoy one of the best Indian Cuisines in Birmingham at Tamatanga. The gravy/curry quantity is really generous. One gravy/curry can be easily shared by 2 people. The Tamatanga thali also has great quantity which can be shared between 2 people and you can always order additional naans. The staff is super-friendly as well. Ragada Pattice is also worth the try. Authentic Indian taste for the curries.Loved it.

Absolutely bussing place for a meet up. Comparing food with other fine dining restaurants , taste is not up to the mark and bit overrated. Quality and portions are brilliant as well as service is well above any Michelin star place. It's not really expensive and on a reasonable side. Some nice parking places around but the best way to get there would be public transport. We didn't order thali, but I guess that is the one to order.

Okay food but definitely nicer places in Birmingham. Thali was nice but enough for 2 people. As the waitress was cleaning up she accidentally spilt a drink on my sisters shoes. I understand it was a mistake but I do feel management could have taken this on-board when giving us the bill. They offered us a drink/dessert on the house but we were already leaving. The naand comes as 2 per portion which is fantastic. Service: ALL staff were really kind and welcoming. Atmosphere: we went around 8pm, very busy but not loud, music was not noticed and you can easily have a conversation amongst yourselves. Price: for 5 of us was around 19.00 per head, very reasonable. Good food and good service. Ordered the tamatanga thali and enjoyed everything on it. If you enjoy spicy food, make sure to add the railway cabin lamb (although it’s not too spicy). I also ordered the tama feast which is a mix grill platter. That wasn’t as impressive. Was quite disappointed with the taste of the lamb chops, probably one of the worst I’ve ever tasted, especially texture wise. All in all a good experience, and will likely visit again.

Lovely food and ambience. We ordered non-vegetarian thali and a portion of thali might be sufficient for two people. Also ordering a thali would help us taste their wide variety of curries. We also got to taste their small plates- quantity of which is again, pretty good. The mango lassi was perfect for the dessert. Would definitely visit again for their wonderful service, lovely ambience and delicious food! ⭐️

Overall really good place to have Indian food! Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and food is delicious. Love their chaat so flavourful and salmon was yum. Some of Indian curries could’ve more flavour but no complaint. We ordered too much and had to ask for doggy bag ;)

Food is good as always. Nice vibes in there. Pretty good for a decent lunchtime spot. Service was good apart from one rude staff member who had an attitude of a spoilt toddler. Questioned her attitude and she was quick to blame that English wasn’t her first language. Funnily enough, it was clearly our fault as we didn’t realise frowning or huffing and puffing are in the English dictionary!

Service was really good, very friendly staff, food was pretty decent but wouldn't go as far as saying any more than that. Food service was fast, accurate and reasonably priced. It was a very quick in and back out again sort of place. It is worth a visit.

Food is always great, never had an issue with the quality or taste. Service is a bit sporadic, the waiters are either too attentive and constantly checking in or nowhere to be seen. Also be prepared to wait 30-60mins for a table on Fridays and Saturdays. Atmosphere: always too busy and cramped for my liking but that’s just me

Absolutely amazing food and drinks. The atmosphere was great busy and bustling with lots of couples groups of friends and families enjoying the great food. There was so many delicious things to choose from on the menu it was hard to pick. I'm glad I chose the lamb as it was cooked beautifully and melted in my mouth, we will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu

Lovely food! As a curry lover was so impressed with this place, was very busy but we were seated fairly quickly after a nice pint at the bar. Had a selection of dishes, the tama chips are to die for & the curries were fantastic. Had a railway lamb & a homestyle chicken curry, both were so tasty. Will definitely be back.

Tamatanga is such a good place to eat, the prices are good compared to other places nearby. Food taste's great, menu has plenty of options for vegetarians and none vegetarians. This place can get very busy especially friday and saturday nights which tells you how good it is. Give it palce a try you wont be disappointed.

The decoration is really modern and vibrant, and the same goes for the food. I recommend the Tamatanga chips - the flavour is divine! However, portion sizes are big, so go with an empty belly :).

An absolute star of a place. Had a different dish and mock tail over 4 evenings while on a business trip. Every mouthful was better than the previous one. The service and ambience also hold their own alongside the superb food. It doesn’t hurt on the pocket either. Totally recommend and will definitely visit again when back in a town they are in.

2 for 1 cocktails 12pm - 7pm. Good selection of cocktails available. Cocktails was nice. Great selection of different types of food. Good selection for Vegan and Gluten-free menu. Food was delicious and nice. Service was quick. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Nice atmosphere to dine in. Good amount of space for social distancing dining.

Very good place to eat Indian food. Tried Papdi chaat there, but it wasn't the close to the actual Indian taste. Butter Chicken with Cheese Chilli naan was really good! Mango lassi was fairly good but was too thick and lastly garlic chilly chicken was also a great dish. Overall nice experience :)

Cool relaxed setting serving flavours of Indian food. Wide variety of dishes with dedicated vegan and gluten free menus. The thali was top of the range. But it didn't have enough accompaniments like naan or rice.

Nice restaurant, tasty food and pretty quickly served considering the rush on Saturday afternoon. We liked the food and drinks, the staff are good except the receptionist who can learn a bit of smiling at guests and say the waiting time rather than super busy pose.

  • A Sajay

Excellent authentic Indian food. Hard working staff. But there is no proper order for the service and you could get the 'small plates' (normally called starters) after the main meal!

Good Place, Nice Ambience, Veg varieties are less. We had chat which was nice. Veg thali was OK, lesser dishes would have been better because how many vegetables one can eat with 1 chapati so you will have to order more.
