I recently had the pleasure of visiting Angry Catfish, and I am absolutely thrilled with the exceptional service and top-notch bikes they offer! From the moment I stepped foot into the shop, I could feel the passion and dedication that the staff have for mountain biking. The selection of bikes at Angry Catfish is truly impressive. They carry a wide range of high-quality mountain bikes, suited for riders of all levels. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider, you'll find the perfect bike to suit your needs. The staff's extensive knowledge of the bikes they carry helped me make an informed decision, and their willingness to listen to my preferences and requirements was greatly appreciated. What sets Angry Catfish apart is their outstanding customer service. The staff is friendly, approachable, and eager to assist. They took the time to answer all of my questions, providing valuable insights and recommendations that helped me find the ideal bike. Their genuine enthusiasm for mountain biking was infectious, and it made the entire shopping experience enjoyable. I was also impressed by the shop's commitment to after-sales service. They ensured that my bike was properly fitted and adjusted to my specifications, ensuring optimal comfort and performance. The mechanics at Angry Catfish are highly skilled and meticulous, and they provided me with expert advice on maintenance and upkeep to keep my bike in excellent condition. Additionally, the atmosphere of the shop is warm and welcoming. It's evident that Angry Catfish is not just a place to buy bikes; it's a community hub for bike enthusiasts. The staff creates a friendly and inclusive environment, where riders can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. In conclusion, Angry Catfish MTB Bike Shop is an absolute gem for any mountain biking enthusiast. Their wide selection of quality bikes, exceptional customer service, and knowledgeable staff make it a standout destination for all your MTB needs. I wholeheartedly recommend Angry Catfish to anyone in search of a fantastic bike shop experience. Ride on with Angry Catfish!
Another fantastic third wave coffee shop in Minneapolis. They carry Intelligentsia Coffee, from Chicago, and Ruby Coffee from Wisconsin. Unlike some other third wave coffee shops, Angry Catfish exclusively offers pour over coffee on top of other espresso drinks. They often use Harios to brew their coffee, but I've heard that sometimes they use the siphon method. Anchor is pretty unique in that it is also a bike shop so sometimes it feels like there's two different customer bases. If you're interested in picking up some great coffee home brewing equipment, Angry Catfish offers a good selection - (hint it's towards the right of the store behind the chairs, a little hard to find). My only complaint about this place is that it is probably one of the most expensive coffee shops in Minneapolis. I completely understand the third wave, slow coffee movement, but when two coffees are almost $8 together, it can be a bit much. I would be more understanding if the coffee carried were from Blue Bottle Coffee or other West Coast retailers, which 1) you can't hardly find in Minneapolis and 2) you pay the price of their location there. Granted Intelligentsia is located in pricey Chicago, but I think there are other great coffeeshops to make your regular spot. Coffee enthusiasts though should not pace this place up, it is an important coffeeshop within the burgeoning third wave coffee scene here and I've always had a great time and even better cup of coffee.
Recently purchased a gravel bike at Angry Catfish in Minneapolis and the entire experience was great from beginning to end. I've owned various mountain bikes, road bikes, and town bikes over the decades but this was my first gravel bike purchase. I had an idea of features that I wanted, but didn't know all the pros and cons since I hadn't ridden one before. My initial phone call to Angry Catfish was answered by a very pleasant and helpful salesperson who then had two bikes ready and waiting for me to test ride when I arrived at the shop later on. The salesperson had personal experience riding and even racing gravel bikes in the kind of conditions I was interested in and he answered all my questions and willingly shared his knowledgeable about different aspects of gravel bikes but without once being pushy or trying to 'make a sale.' He was very kind and patient with me as I test rode bikes for about two hours to make sure I found the right one. They sold me the bike I chose at a fantastic price - one that could not even be beat anywhere online - and even threw in some extra schwag for free. Although we had to conduct all our business on the sidewalk outside the shop (because of COVID restrictions), I can't wait to go back once people are allowed inside and check out the other stuff they sell, including flyfishing gear (what a great combination!). Highly recommend Angry Catfish to any cyclists!
Bought a bike from Erik's at the beginning of the season-- fine experience, nothing bad to say about them. However, the internal wiring from the factory was crisscrossed resulting in some shifting issues (which I never would have figured out on my own). Before heading out for a long ride, I brought it in for some guidance. The bike tech immediately discovered the issue, was about to send me back to Erik's to have the issue addressed under my warranty, but then proceeded to correct it on his own, in addition to truing a few other components that only a professional would know to do. Additionally, he gave me some excellent advice on changing road bike tires with a demonstration. He then sent me on my way, charging me only for the supplies I bought (bike bag and patch kit). He was clearly busy with other bikes but took the time to fit my bike in knowing I wanted to go ride, and he did it without attitude or acting inconvenienced. Now the bike rides better than when I first bought it! I have never been to a bike shop (or retail store of any kind) with a more knowledgable, friendly, and informative staff-- this place is tops! They have my loyalty, hands down. And the coffee is fantastic! Thanks for the positive experience, ACF crew!
I found this place by accident and when I saw it I had to go in. Great idea and a very great environment inside. I was excited to try their latte, it's my go to for new coffee places as it's a classic staple and I spent years as a barista. It was very overpriced for what I ended up with. There was no real flavor to it and the milk was under steamed and frothed. It's completely possible that it was just a poor make, but when you spend $5 on a latte, you want it to taste like a $5 latte. I will go back to try again and will probably do just a black cup of coffee, but hard to recommend at this point. 11/7/19 update: moving my review up a star as management was quick to get back to me on my review and send me some drink tokens to give them another shot. Great customer service follow up and looking forward to making my way back sooner than later! 11/17/19 update: went back for my free replacement drink and what a wonderful cup of coffee. Was a very good latte and can now fully recommend this place (on the cafe side at least). Only thing the coffee was missing was some latte art, but that ultimately doesn't effect taste. I will be back!
I recently had my Ibis Ripley in for a complete service at Angry Catfish after two pretty hard years of riding. I bought it online so I hadn't built a relationship with a local bike shop to service the bike. A friend mentioned Angry Catfish to me so I gave it a shot. From when I first walked in the door they were stoked to work on the bike. They didn't care where I bought it from and just wanted to help me out. I told them to bring it back to like-new condition and quiet as possible so they went to work! The bike spent just about two months there and when I got it back it was perfect. Their attention to detail is what was so cool. They even optimized my cable management just because. I also blew a seal in my dropper post that was out of warranty and they went to war for me. They sent it to KS and got it covered under warranty at no cost to me. I'm sure they can't always pull this off but they sure will try. If you're looking for a place to service your bike and are wondering if a professional mechanic is better than the 'bike shop' in your basement...well... yes it is and it's not even close!
Yesterday I came into your store to potentially purchase a pair of new tires. One of your employees asked me if I needed any help. I definitely did need help but, I was hesitant as other bike shops I have been to have been quite pretentious and less than welcoming to novice riders. However, this wasn't even close to the experience I had! Your employee was extremely helpful and had first-hand knowledge of almost every tire. He was able to tell me the pros and cons and helped guide me through the features that were more important than others. I live on the edge of the suburbs and explained the type of riding I do. Your employee understood exactly the type of riding I was doing and didn't have any of the pretentious "I'm from the city" attitude towards me. I ended up buying two tires, a spare tube, and tire sealant. I could get all of these items for a few dollars cheaper online. However, because of the great customer service and that you keep stock in store, I will definitely be back! I live less than 5 miles from 3 bike shops but, I will drive an extra 20 miles to visit your store!
This place is awesome. Their coffee is fantastic, the showroom/shop area is a bike nerd's dream, and their service is beyond compare. Story time: I purchased an All-City frame from Angry Catfish and several weeks after I picked it up (and much deliberation) I felt that I needed to go one-size larger than what I had ordered. I had opened the frame for several weeks and did not expect them to refund or swap me at this point. I was there one day looking at bikes one day and merely mentioned my frame size dilemma expecting no help and they offered (not me asking) to swap me for a larger size no questions asked. It is important to consider that I have had the frame for several weeks and that All City was sold out of the 55cm frames and had to wait for another shipment. Instead of making me wait, they offered to strip the only 55cm they had on their show floor to swap me. I walked in 3 days later and walked out with the frame size I wanted. This place far exceeded my expectations for service and I will continue to use them for all my bike needs.
I stopped in at Angry Catfish to test ride a hard to find bike while in MPLS for the weekend, not really planning on buying that day. Parker was so immensely helpful and invested in making sure I got a good fit, that I ended up coming back the next day to swap out some stems and bought the bike, which I've been very happy with since. When I told my local shop that I'd been working with that I found a bike, they asked where. I told the tech that I got a bike at Angry Catfish, and he replied that it's one of the best shops in the country and his personal favorite. I don't doubt it one bit. My local shop was very kind and helpful, but Parker and Angry Catfish offered by far the best service I've ever experienced at a bike shop (or possibly anywhere for that matter). I'm not and experienced cyclist, but I always felt comfortable and free to ask questions (none of the snobbery that I've seen in other similarly equipped shops). A great place with kind people and solid products.
Angry Catfish is far and away the best bike shop I've ever had the pleasure of spending time in. Going in, a complete novice, the staff was not only helpful, but understanding and collaborative in what I wanted out of a bike and the gear needed. Fast-forward two years later, I have an issue with the bike I procured from the shop - terrified I brought it in, scared that I'd not only be out of a bike, but that I'd have to fork over an incremental few grand to replace the bike that had a manufacturers issue. Not only did they provide me with a demo bike to ride while I was without my trusted steed, but they worked with the manufacturer to ensure the warranty was not only covered, but that the bike would be custom painted (again) and delivered back to MPLS where they would apply my components to the new version. 10/10 would recommend the friendly team @ ACF - they sell premium products, but are backed with premium expertise, service, and kindness.
They may be a good local shop, but poor service with online sales. I purchased a bike through their website that showed in stock, received a confirmation, and paid for. The sale was voided the next morning. I called to confirm the sale and the salesman told me they voided my sale so they could sell to a “local” customer that looked at the bike that morning, after the bike was sold to me. Basically, they sold my bike to someone else. If you don’t want to do online sales, I get it, but take that option off your website. I have been trying to find this particular bike for a month and when I finally found one available, it was snatched away by shady online business practices. I asked for a resolution and he tried to say the other customer had put a deposit on the bike, which if IS true (highly unlikely), it should have been removed from the website. He offered no resolution or sincere apology.
I'd heard great reviews of Angry Catfish, and I'm so glad I chose them when buying my entry-level Salsa Journeyer. They have a lot of higher end items in the store, but are just as helpful and welcoming to beginners, too. They were so helpful in selecting a bike (Andy walked me through options and answered all my questions) and I had a great experience with the purchase. The bike was finished early, too! I was trying to adjust my front derailleur on my own the day before a group ride and realized it was outside of my comfort level, so I called and Jesse was able to take a look at it right away and get the bike adjusted! He was so kind and explained how things worked so that I'd better understand my bike moving forward. He even took the time to wipe off the bike so it looks brand new. Looking forward to future purchases from Angry Catfish as I grow in my cycling journey!
My favorite spot in the Twin Cities for coffee and all things bike related. They have a solid selection of gear and bikes and every time I come in I get to chat with a knowledgeable staff member who always makes me feel welcome. The cortado is spot on btw! I stopped in today to scope out an All-City bike and got to talk with Stephen. I told him I was just window shopping and it was obvious he was very busy working on a large order they just got in. He knew I was not trying to buy something at the moment and he still took the time to talk about the pros and cons of different bikes in the category I am looking at. He never made me feel rushed for a second. I feel like everyone here really cares about the work they put out and stand behind the products they sell. If you are willing to spend more on quality higher-end bikes, this is your shop and your people.
Angry Catfish was like my second home when I lived in the neighborhood. The coffee is excellent (even according to my very very picky barista wife). They usually get a sea salt mocha. I usually drink the cold brew (often too fast because it is so tasty). Their seasonal drinks are fun. Their pour overs are done with the precision of a chemist. The staff is always super kind and friendly (and so stylish might i add)(even the bike staff actually, just remembered they adjusted my handlebars for free when i took a spill and got them out of whack and my tool was too short for my stem.) They have punch cards which a thrifty guy like me LOVES. Cute dogs on the patio in the warm times. I wish I still lived in walking distance. I miss it so much.
I witnessed the best customer service I've ever seen from a bike shop pro last night at Angry Catfish. Parker was so very helpful to my friend who had been thinking and over thinking his new bike purchase for months. He had tons of questions on pretty much everything for me for months and luckily Parker and I agreed on pretty much everything :) as well. Now my friend is very happy. The attention to detail and the genuine sincerity will go a very long way for my buddy who is finally converting from roadie to more adventurous riding styles. Good stuff guys keep it up. Not my usual LBS because where I live and Chuck and Max at Behind Bars give me the appropriate levels of grief most the time but I was and am very very impressed.
I came in to the store today with my friend and daughter looking to browse for a gravel bike and your associate Stephen was just SO SO amazing with us!!! He explained so many things to us, showed us options, spent over 2 hours with us and was so helpful and patient and I left with a very happy purchase. I often find high end bike stores (and often the staff) inaccessible and patronizing if you’re not of a certain type of intense (usually male) cyclist who is obsessed with gear and details, and so it was a stark welcome to feel so welcomed in and not talked down to at all. Really grateful for such a positive customer experience - I will be back and will delightfully send my friends here.
Have stopped by several times now, to have coffee and kick the tires on the new bikes. Found the proprietors friendly although not outgoing. They let you look without following you around repeatedly asking, "Can I help you find something?". Pleasure to visit so I decided to have them do the much needed overhaul of my road bike, which they finished earlier than promised and the bike performed flawlessly on the next days metric century. Very satisfied with the work done and felt the prices were fair. Although not a connoisseur of fine coffee I do drink a lot thereof and their's is quite good. Didn't find my being 60+ a factor, it's a bike shop with good coffee!
Top notch bike shop and coffeehouse. I have gone to Angry Catfish for a variety of biking needs, including bike service, getting panniers for my commuter bike and just for quality bike advice and always got quality service and spoke with people who took the time to explain everything to me. Currently looking at adding another bike to my collection and with my past experiences being so positive, this was the natural place to look to first. In addition to being a great bike shop they also a great coffeehouse. I have had several items from their menu and has always been excellent. A great coffeehouse and bike shop in one. A cyclists heaven!
There are only two places in town to get coffee this good, this lovingly brewed. You can come here, to South Minneapolis, or you can go downtown to Northern Coffeeworks. Either way it's absolutely incredible coffee and wonderful service. And it is consistent! Quality and service! It doesn't matter which barista makes your coffee because ALL of them DO IT RIGHT. Update: no more downtown location. Northern Coffeeworks is now at the old Angry Catfish location in South Minneapolis, just around the corner from their new location. Same fantastic coffee! Oh yeah- don't forget to try the artisan pop tarts by Fruit & Grain. #yum
I’ve loved this coffee/bike shop for years now! Best drinks in town! My 11 year old and I like to do an eight mile loop bicycle ride where Angry Catfish is our halfway mark. We get Donuts from Bakers Wife next door and drinks from the Catfish. The current staff of Baristas are always friendly even if it’s very busy. If I’m wandering the sales floor waiting for my drink, every one working the bike side of things are also friendly and ask if I need assistance. Y’all can keep my free coffee or just surprise a random person with a free one. I’m very happy to give my money to a very rad local business! Y’all deserve it!
Had an AMAZING experience at Angry Catfish today with a bike fitting. Stephen Cottrell could not have been more knowledgable or more helpful. He spent a considerable amount of time with me - asking me about my riding, measuring my old bike, helping me figure out how to make adjustments to better suit my frame and eliminate pain, talking about what to look for in a new bike and more. He was pleasant and a joy to spend time with. He did not try to upsell me into something more expensive and seemed genuinely interested in just making sure I had a bike that I could love riding. Could not recommend more highly.
Wow just an a great experience at this store! Brought my new used Trek road bike in for a fit and saw Stephen Cottrell. Stephen was super friendly as were all the staff at the Angry Catfish. Stephen understood what I needed and used all the tools available including shooting video of me riding. Made some suggestions which were spot on. He is a bike Mechanic, rider and also practical didn't try to upsell me any products. Adjusted the aero bars, raised the stem. Much more comfortable less strain on the body. My new favorite bike store. Also plenty of parking out front and easy to take your bike for a spin
I was in the market for a bike this year. I went here having just moved to S. Mpls. I wanted to buy a new bike. Cash. Knew what I wanted. But for the life of me I couldn't get waited on. I lot of gabbing with customers, but apparently I didn't look upscale enough. I did notice there is a lot of good stuff there. I didn't fit the mold of a wanna be hipster driving up in a BMW is all I can think. I ended up walking out disappointed 20 minutes later and had another shop order up the bike I wanted. Actually ended up buying 2 bikes this year. Sad because this shop is less then a mile from where I live.
Pretty bummed on this shop of late. Went to pick up my order today and was told upon pickup, not when it came in 2 days ago, that I had underpaid for the handlebar I ordered. The smarmy young gentleman who explained this to me offered no apology, saying that he was "sure we told you to right price when you ordered it," but that I had somehow paid too little. Pretty crummy and not true, but he wasn't trying to hear me, so I paid the ransom and moved on. I've spent thousands of dollars in this shop over the last few years, but I think I'll take my business elsewhere in the future.
What an enigma: Here we have a bike shop that carries some very high end brands and caters to those looking to build their "dream bikes" but is completely devoid of the typical snobbery. At the same time they have customer service and sales that rival any "mom and pop" place. Service staff are top notch. I have never encountered a pushy sales person here and they are all very knowledgeable generally use the products they sell. They cafe is equally impressive. Highly recommended. Without question my favorite bike shop in the twin cities and of my favorites nation wide.
I had a first rate experience with Angry Catfish. I've bought from several bike shops in the area. This group really is the top of the list now. Super responsive to emails during COVID. They happened to have one of the only remaining Fat Bikes around at this time of year. Arranged time to come in and look. Loved the Salsa Mukluk right away. A quick spin and I was sold. Arranged to come back in two hours and the deal was done. Super fast and efficient and very COVID friendly. Thanks to Josh, Andrew and all the rest of the team. I got her dirty the first afternoon!
I do like this place and think it serves probably the highest level of quality bikes and parts for the Twin Cities. That being said, as someone who didn't grow up with parents who biked and has been only seriously biking for 5-6 years, I still haven't felt comfortable in the shop after my 4 or 5 visits. I make 45 grand a year, don't get any pro deals, and I've always gotten the feeling that if you're not ready to drop an easy 2 grand on a bike, it's not the place for you. Definitely an elitist vibe, but it is fun to gawk to bikes and gear I can't afford.
I was looking for hands on instruction in using S & S couplers including taking apart and reassembling pretty much the whole bike. I got some extremely helpful and valuable training from Alex, who showed me how to take apart and reassemble the bike when using an S & S travel case. He was patient and made sure I understood how to do everything to ensure the the bike would be safe to ride. Alex has a specialty in this area because he installs S & S couplers in frames that he makes himself. So great to have a resource like this locally. Angry Catfish rocks!
Was a little skeptical about buying a bike online from a shop I'd never been to before (living in Seattle,) but a friend had recommended this shop to me. Communication was clear, bike arrived super quick, was easily assembled, and got an awesome handwritten note in the package! My overall experience was fantastic and my new Space Horse is so smooth. If you've been trying to buy a bike locally for the last year and haven't had any luck finding one, don't hesitate on purchasing from these people at Angry Catfish. Would for sure purchase from them again
I went here in search of my first "nice" bike. They helped me through the entire process, let me ride anything I wanted, and showed me the benefits and differences of all of their different models and brands at a variety of price points. Every single person I spoke with and worked with was friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. After a couple visits I ended up picking out my dream bike. I will definitely be back for service and any other needs. I have yet to try the coffee but I hear it's great! Highly - highly - recommended.
Best bike shop in the Midwest! Staff is amazing along with the owner! They have some of the coolest hard to find items in the industry. You always know whatever you guys is going to feel great on your bike. They treat you like family and are very knowledgeable about what to by for any adventure! Perfect place if your just starting to ride and need advice on what bike to get and clothing to wear and also great for experienced riders! I moved to the western suburbs and still ride over to them when I need items for cycling!
Needed a new set of pedals. A local search showed that Angry Catfish had them in stock. The online ordering process was easy and I received a confirmation for pickup right away. *One thing to mention, I/Angry Catfish should have discussed what I might want or need with these pedals. I realized after I installed them, I'd be needing dry lube and a grease gun to keep them maintained. I ended up ordering those online - not from Amazon. That purchase was an additional $25. I would happily have purchased those items from AC.
Ordered a bike for my wife 6mo ago - great price and arrived quickly. Ordered another bike 10/25/23 with $150 shipping. It took 6 days for it to ship… No tracking… Contacted ACF and after texting back and forth multiple days the answer is: their new shipping company THRU wont answer and they cant find it - maybe three weeks is their guess. Yikes. That will be my last order. 11/19 update 3wks in and counting: ACF says THRU has communicated Nov 18-20 as the delivery window, though THRU has still made no contact with me.
I’ve shopped for bikes here before but this was my first purchase at Angry Catfish. Truly exceptional experience. Very knowledgeable staff, but also really listen to what you’re looking for in a bike. After test riding a couple of bikes, we narrowed it to a near perfect bike at a decent price. When I called to confirm my purchase, Steve had tracked down an even better bike, tweaked just a bit for how I ride, at an even better price. All this in a safe shopping experience in the midst of covid. Wow. Great shop.
What a solid shop. I've followed them for a few years on social media because of their online presence, brands, and business model. Now that I'm temporarily in Minneapolis it's the obvious choice for service and sales. In the month I've been here, they've already: packed and shipped a bike, serviced two of mine, sold me some great gear, and hosted a neat fat bike ride complete with free (and good) coffee and doughnuts. Keep up the work guys! I'm bummed I won't be around long enough to be a regular there.
I purchased a Surly Straggler online from Angry Catfish Bicycle and Coffee Bar. There was a shipping snafu in which the front wheel quick release axle either fell out of the main package or wasn't included in the first place. I called and was greeted with knowledgeable and helpful service reps, who put a replacement set of qr axles in the mail to me. While I would suggest getting to know your local bike shop first, if that isn't an option, then please give Angry Catfish Bicycle and Coffee Bar a try.
My bike shop of choice in the twin cities. Even if I don't know something about my bike, the staff at Angry Catfish always make me feel like it's no big deal. They provide great service and give you a quote up front. I brought my bike in because it was making a weird noise, only to realize as I handed it over that I hadn't checked something really obvious and simple. The mechanic fixed it with a smile and didn't charge me. Maybe a little more expensive than some? It's worth it to me.
“Fancy Latte” Came here to pick up drinks to meet a friend, on their recommendation, and needed them to travel. No scoffs at the request for double cups, and they were happy to answer my questions. They gave great recommendations, and the attention to detail in the drink making was extremely impressive. Sorry the visit was short this time. I plan to drive the 20 minutes again to get the full experience! Had the “fancy latte” (vanilla and cardamom I believe!?), and it was delicious.
My favorite bike shop, knowledgeable and very helpful staff. They go out of their way to make sure your bike is right. The shop can get busy but that's because service is so excellent. They always take time to listen and get you setup right. If they don't have a part in stock they will order it and many times they'll have it in the same day. I highly recommend their cold press on nitro as well. I feel very lucky to have ACF in our neighborhood. Support your local bike shop!
I love this place for many reasons. The coffee and espresso is consistently delicious. AND they have loyalty cards-which is not very common in the Twin Cities (that I've found at least). Also, they serve some bakery from the Baker's Wife (which is a cash only establishment), so when you want a delicious cookie-but don't have cash-you can go to Angry Catfish and grab a delicious coffee AND cookie! Plus they feature a variety of beautiful bikes and some local merchandise.
Ordered a bike online from Angry Catfish. They were very responsive on answering any questions during the purchase process. They were able to get the bike packaged and shipped within 4 business hours so that I could receive it before going on a trip later that week. The bike arrived very securely packaged and was setup to go after putting on the bars and front wheel. All of the bolts were tight and the brakes/derailleur were dialed in. Overall a very good experience!
The staff is outstanding and the depth of product is expansive. The knowledge and passion for bikes is felt and expressed by all. I shop here, get all of bike repairs done here and even work remotely here at times. The coffee is my favorite in the city. Each of the baristas are friendly and answer questions with a smile. They have even walked me through proper grind size and tamping for my at home espresso making. Great people all around! ACF is my happy place.
The staff are super friendly and helpful! Rented a fat tire bike to try it out this weekend while I was visiting Minneapolis and the staff got me all setup on a super nice bike, reasonably priced rental, and were all super friendly and provided amazing service. Grabbed a coffee at their sister store around the corner and it was great as well! It’s well suited for a rental too as you can get on the lake trails about a block away from the shop. Highly recommend!
Great coffee and baked goods. Amazing and beautiful bicycles, good clothing options switched out seasonally.Friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Fair pricing on repairs and parts too. Thomas the mechanic has helped work his magic numerous times over the years on my bikes, always honest and straightforward with what is or is not needed. Very nice place to grab a coffee or service any bicycle related needs, or to purchase a new toy. I would reccomend to anyone.
I had an amazing experience at ACF in my hunt for my new bike. All the staff who helped me were incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming and went way out of their way to make sure I had the chance to test ride the bikes I was interested in (including building them specially for me to test and even finding a way to get me on a bike in my size that was currently out of stock). Extra shout out to Elena, Andy, Derek, and Chance. Thank you all.
Brought my mountain bike in for service. The inspection, estimate, and service was done very quickly and it was easy to communicate with the shop via text messaging. Excellent, helpful staff and the pricing was reasonable considering the amount of work that needed to be done. 10/10 recommend Angry Catfish and I cannot wait until they open their coffee bar so I can visit again (it's closed because of COVID right now).
I only went for the coffee, and it was damn tasty! I ordered the Americano which was a modest 3.75. It was incredibly tasty. It might be one of the only Americanos I could and would drink straight, no cream or sugar. Super good. Nice atmosphere, peaceful couches to sit on, and hood table space. I was worried about the noise of the bike repair nearby, but it was not an issue at all for me. Come check it out!
I’ve had great customer service on multiple occasions and I haven’t even been in the store! Dave V helped source a small that no one else had and shipped it right out. He then on another occasion, took care of one of my customers who flew into the area. We shipped her bike out to the store and he took care of getting her TT bike re assembled for her training camp she went to. 6 stars from me
These guys have great customer service! I tried to order a bike (in Montana) and they were unable to get a bike to me due to Covid supply chain strains, but a couple weeks after I got a bike locally I heard back from them saying they have the bike that I was looking for in stock. Unfortunately I found a replacement, but I was impressed with every interaction I had with them along the way
I was in a tough situation this chilly morning and needed to install a tire in order to get home. Andrew let me borrow some tire levers so I could try and fix it myself. When it was clear that I could not do it myself, the mechanic inside finished the job and only charged me labor for one of the tires. Thank you to Andrew and the mechanic today for helping me out in a tough spot.
Ordered a bike here from across the country on a specific model/size that was in limited supply. The bike came expertly packed with constant communication from the company. I had an initial minor complaint and they went out of their way to resolve the issue above and beyond my expectations. Great service, will be using them for any special orders moving forward. A+
I dropped off my Specialized bike at ACF Bicycle Shop on November 6th and it was ready for pick-up on November 8th. ACF even had to order a part, and still rebuilt my entire bike in about 2 days. My bike has never shifted or rode smoother since I bought it brand new in 2015. I highly recommend ACF and will have all my bike repairs done by ACF going forward!
I bought a Surly Straggler online and picked it up while passing through Minneapolis. I received prompt service and the bike was well-assembled and accurately tuned, something I find frustratingly rare with shop service. The place also had a cool, friendly vibe. Too bad I’m from out of town: I think it would make a great place to do regular business with.
I bought a mountain bike at Angry Catfish over going to one of the larger local chains and I'm glad I did. Stephen was great - he listened to what I was looking for and helped me find a bike that fit by riding style and budget. The level of service provided was first class and the shop was without pretension. This place is what local bike shops are about.
Thanks to a proper bike fitting with Stephen at Angry Catfish, I feel like I have a bike "guy." The fitting will get me back on the bike with confidence after knee surgery. Stephen took the time to listen to my aches and pains, translate them into all the fitting variables of my bike - and then explain what he did and what I should monitor. Game changer.
What a great shop! Hands down my favorite to visit as everyone is super helpful. They always have really great items from smaller brands and will work with you to find your perfect ride. All the staff are knowledgeable and happy to share their expertise in a friendly way. I always look forward to stopping in here and have been super happy with my Salsa.
I was between buying a bike here and at the hub. I ended up getting the bike here. I felt like I was much more at home and treated a lot better. The guys at the shop were more than helpful to get me on bikes and answer all my questions. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get a bike. I ended up with a beautiful All City Macho Man to ride!
LOVE! THIS! PLACE! The staff are always so helpful whenever I have a question about the coffee or teas on the menu. Haven't spent a lot of time in the bike part of the shop, but I can say without a doubt that this is my number one go-to coffee spot. I would rather end my dull and miserable life than go to any other coffee shop in Minneapolis, MN.
Very helpful staff, test rode a few different bikes and got plenty of advice on them. Staff are sometimes a little too salesman-like, usually trying to convince you that you need the more expensive bike, but all things considered I still greatly prefer them to Erik's. Store primarily sells Salsa bikes, with some Pivot bikes there as well.
I had a wonderful experience here. I’m trying to get my old bike back up and running smoothly, but I’m on a budget. The man who helped me was very nice, understanding of my budget, and didn’t try to upsell me. He even suggested a way that I could do my job cheaper that I hadn’t thought of. I will be returning for all my bicycle needs.
The bike shop is great. The staff is very devoted to cycling and will really help you out with questions or concerns. On the other hand, the coffee shop has got a pretentious vibe. I go there because the coffee is great, but the baristas are cold. If you want to meet some friendly people in the cycling community, I wouldn't go there.
I bought a derailleur from Angry Catfish when they were just about the only place on the internet that could source the particular part I wanted. I had some doubts about the part when it came, but Eric was patient with me and walked me through verifying it was correct. Now that I have it on and dialed I am very happy with their help.
This place is great. I don’t live near this shop, but after pressing a “notify when available” button on their website, they contacted me and they shipped the handlebars I was looking for that same day. They helped me turn my 90s MTB into a gravel bike. Wish I lived locally and could support this awesome shop more often.
I've never used the bike shop at all but their Coffee shop is hands down the best in the twin cities!! My go to is the maple cardamom latte, I would highly suggest you try it if you haven't already!! This is my and my girlfriends favorite place to get coffee!! Great coffee, great service, and a really cool atmosphere!!
Great experience. I don't live in the Cities but I visited Angry Catfish a few years ago and loved it. They had a good price on a bike I wanted so I bought it and they shipped it to me promptly. Also had great service dealing with a recalled fork, which they handled very efficiently with excellent communication.
Awesome coffee and bike shop. Super friendly and knowledgeable, great atmosphere and quality products. Highly recommend. Very happy with my most recent purchase, a salsa woodsmoke! Unbelievable price on it and set up perfectly! I've shopped dozens of bike shops and this one is a favorite, they know their stuff.
Ordered here for the first time about two months ago after I saw they had the items I wanted in stock. The experience was great. Items were shipped quickly, packed well, and were as described. Communication about the order was good, though I had no issues with it. Definitely would order from them in the future.
The front desk guy was about to turn me away because they were full but then the mechanic just took one look at the bike, asked me a couple questions and told me straight up that they would fix it on the spot that afternoon. I went out to lunch, came back, and rode away on my newly fixed bike! Thanks yall!!!
This business is awesome. My Hullavator was shipped in timely fashion. I ordered it right before Christmas and Scott called to verify that I ordered it and no one was doing any fraudulent activity. That’s great customer service! Would recommend this business to anyone and would purchase from them again.
I've heard alot of good things about the Angry Catfish Bicycle Shop, but it was always hard for me to justify the 40 mile trip from my home - but not anymore! The salespeople(?) I spoke to both on the phone, and in person were very knowledgeable and very patient. I look forward my next trip to the Shop.
These guys took great care of me! I called and had a bike in NYC in less than a week. I only had to slap on the bars and pedals. No scratches or dents. It was boxed perfectly. Josh on the phone was courteous and accommodating. Definitely looking forward to doing more business with Angry Catfish!
Why would you go anywhere else for bikes, cycling supplies, and knowledge. I had the best time talking about bikes, cycling, and really anything. Buying my bike was awesome and I felt truly appreciated and respected. Tons of knowledge and experience, and just downright good people.
I’ve been in a lot of bike shops over many years, Angry Catfish is the top of the top. Super friendly and knowledgeable with an outstanding well-curated assortment, and you know what is missing? The pretentious stuff. They have earned my business for the foreseeable future :)
I bought a bike here and had great service. They brew the quality Intelligence beans phenomenally. And the treats from the next door bakers wife are great too. I invent reasons to be in the neighborhood frequently so I can pop by here. One of my favorite places for coffee.
I bought a new Surly Disc Trucker from Angry Catfish Bicycles. The shipping was super quick (they packed my bike on a Sunday!) I received my bike in good condition. They also promptly replied to some email questions I had. All in all a great experience. Highly recommend.
I haven't tried out the cafe but have stopped in to the bike shop a couple of times for parts. They have a wide selection and the staff is knowledgeable and welcoming. Some items seem to be available from behind the counter only so don't hesitate to ask someone for help.
A cup of warm, fairly weak black coffee costs $3.50 here. If they're charging that much for coffe, imagine how much you're being ripped off when it comes to buying a bicycle. Basically, it's a safe zone for yuppies and hipsters to feel like they're important.
Ordered online for hard to find 45NRTH studdable Dillinger 5 (27.5; out of stock everywhere). 10% off my order, two verification emails for updates, arrived one day early, and came with a bag of coffee. Will have to visit the place in the future. Many thanks.
Love this place!!! Two of my favorite things ❤️ The shop is full of great items to purchase, all great quality! The staff is super friendly. And the coffee, the coffee is fantastic! Overall... you need to come here and check the wonderful vibe for yourself!!!
I love finding a good local bike shop with people excited about bikes! I took my bike, Betty, in for a tune up—they gave her the works at a fair price and really made her run smoothly! I appreciate the service and can’t wait for the new location to open up.
This has quickly become one of my favorite online shops, they always have items in stock others don't, great prices, fast shipping and amazing customer service. They are communicative and go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with your order.
Everybody keeps talking about the cth coffee which is yummy I get it. But when it comes to bike repairs they are the best. I have been to six other bike shops which all took my money but did not fix it. TAC took less money and less time Awesome right?
Loved it. Interior was very stylish and the baristas were very nice, courteous and helpful. I tried a cup of vaccum brewed Ethiopian coffee and it was phenomenal! Im from IA but Id absolutely go out of my way to stop here next time Im in the city.
I live near by, and whenever I need a good latte, this is where I go. The quality is great and people on the coffee end really know their stuff. I've never needed any bike service, but it appears that the quality of merchandize is top notch.
Great coffee bar with some Midwest favorite roasts available for purchase. Amazing bike shop and bike repair are part of the cafe. It's a very cool place. Next to one of the best bakeries in Minneapolis, too! Hop next door to Baker's Wife.
Super grateful for this spot - was looking for a Pas Normal gilet for months since they're in short supply, and these guys were able to stock one and get it to me in Chicago super fast. Thought it was too good to be true. Amazing service!
Good coffee, hip atmosphere, nice tables including high-tops at the window. The bike shop has average service and unwelcoming prices. The hip atmosphere can also feel a little unwelcoming. Good bike parking and some outdoor seating.
Really good coffee in a neighborhood that has few options for coffee. Quirky atmosphere with the bike shop in the back. Plenty of space to sit and work if the smell of bike tires doesn't put you off. Consistently friendly service.
This is where I get all my repairs done. The service is great and the pricing is reasonable. They did made a mistake once; then, owned up to it immediately, and made it right. I cannot say enough good things about them.
Super good coffee and tea. I wish the tea was a bit stronger, but it was good quality and still well brewed. The bike gear is definitely higher-end, so don't go to shop if you're not very enthusiastic about biking.
If I would’ve invested all the money I have spent at this place, in bitcoin… man… for my own mental health, I can’t think about that. One of my top three favorite coffee shops and espresso pulls in the Twin Cities.
Angry Catfish uses Intelligentsia for their espresso and it makes their lattes AMAZING! One of the best I’ve had in the cities. If you’re looking for a great latte and quirky atmosphere, it’s a great place to go.
Had a small bike tire for a stroller that I was struggling with changing the inner tube and they got it done while I enjoyed an amazing coffee!! The coffee drinks are SO good. Service on both sides is amazing.
Respectful, communicative staff, highest quality work and a great cup of coffee on the side. While you're there, stop by for a burger and beer next door at Buster's - or grab a treat at Baker's Wife bakery.
This place has a super cool vibe. Bike and coffee shop. Very casual and welcoming. Extremely knowledgeable staff. Great selection. Derek was especially helpful with my purchase of a rigid Karate Monkey.
Great service! Went for replacement tube + air canisters. Asked about helmet upgrade, they found a great quality one at a great price (no box). Especially during covid, they're a great local bike shop!
Absolutely fantastic coffee, and the staff was really kind and helpful. We visited from Colorado and can’t wait to go back one day!! & wear my Angry Catfish proudly, as does my bike mechanic partner.
Always amazing coffee and atmosphere. If you love coffee, you need to check it out. The bike and accessory selection is also top shelf. Employees are very knowledgeable and courteous. Get there!
Great variety of unique accessories for all kinds of bicycle adventures! They will keep you rolling wherever your heart desires with the selection of bicycles and they have a full service shop!
10/10 would recommend for great and friendly bike service. My girlfriend has a vintage cruiser that needed a tube replaced in her rear tire and we walked in and were serviced within 10 minutes.
