I purchased a vehicle from Cars On Carp, I was happy at first. They had negotiable prices and I liked the truck BUT on the day I picked the truck up on the way home it was making an awful squeaking sound coming from the serpentine belt. So I called Jim the salesman back and he said to get a hold of the guys in the shop to have a look at it. I brought the truck in and they did nothing for me. So i was frustrated and took the truck to my own mechanic to get the problem fixed, two idler pulleys and the tensioner pulley had to be replaced, witch costed me a a few hundred. Then I called called Jim back and he said there is nothing we can do because they dont pay for other Mechanics work , and i argued the fact that it shouldn't of passed safety but they said there was nothing they could do for me again, also was rude to me on the phone saying that what I did dint make sense also other things I wont go into detail about. If I could rate this place a zero I would. BEWARE DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM. Response to owner: First off I'm not sure how a pulleys on a serpentine belt doesn't fall under the vehicle safety inspection because if the belt came off while I was driving the vehicle would lose all steering power assist so would be very hard to turn which is very dangerous also stops the water pump from circulating coolant and the engine can over heat which is also very dangerous. I don't see at all how that is confusing, what is confusing is why this would not fall under the safety inspection. I understand that used vehicles there are things that can go wrong but come one this should of been fixed FOR SAFTEY. Actually the tech at the garage did here something and so did the mechanic but again this is so confusing. I then took it to my garage and had them fix the safety issue with the belt because you wouldn't and was trying to get some sort of accommodation but you declined. I hope there isn't a dealership anywhere that would have a policy like this because you shouldn't put the price of a mechanic and a price of a belt fix on someone's safety. yes I did have the mechanic look it over before sale he was the one who got it ready for me to pick up. I then purchased a warranty at half off from you because I guess you had to give me something for the wrong doing and 2 hour negotiating which I appreciated because it helped me sell the truck and never look back until I saw this response of lies. anyway I have had enough of this I hope you learn and don't do this to your future customers.
Bought a truck from them in Oct, 2020. Totally negative experience. He had posted it for sale on Marketplace and Kijiji even before having it on his lot after buying it on auction. I needed this type truck to pull a travel trailer. He would stall me saying that he was waiting for it and getting the body's rust spots fixed up, which consisted of some Tremclad paint on the door sill. I had to keep pestering him asking if the truck was now available. He never called back or kept the dates he promised, despite he had pretty much a sure sale for pretty much a month. By this time, I was now in a desperate situation when my old truck's engine blew and the trailer was stuck out of town. Finally test drive it and it had some issues that I pointed out to him. He promised to fix them, which were the front brakes (rusted and vibrated), rear suspension knock, odometer button inoperative, driver heated seat button inoperative. Nothing crazy by any means. The shop attached to this dealer did the repairs. To their credit, they did replace the parking brake cables for the safety and put new rear shocks. He gave some story that he couldn't fix the odometer button, said he even tried replacing it with one from another truck, which was BS because I was able to fix it just by prying on the dash. Never even looked at the heated seat switch which I fixed by cleaning it. Most importantly, he never replaced the front brakes and now, after 5000km, they're down to metal. Oh, and he NEVER wore a mask, even inside their stinky office.
Buyer beware - if you get a used car from here, I strongly recommend you have an independent mechanic / your mechanic check it out first. We just paid $10,000 for a 2011 car, thinking we'd maybe need to put some small amount of work into it. They reassured us that any issues would be covered by the limited 3rd party warranty they provided. I brought it to my mechanic for a quick look-over, and it looks like the car needs about $6,000 worth of strongly recommended repairs. Because none of the issues are actually broken right now, it still passed safety. Further, the warranty provider said they wouldn't cover any pre-existing issues, only new issues that came up in the very small period they cover - so pretty much you need to be stranded on the side of the road before the warranty would cover anything, so you're only covered if that happens in the 3 months / 5km after purchase. I could have bought a new car for 16k, I have so much regret. When dealing with them over the phone, they were incredibly evasive and defensive, when you could actually reach them. I would say they only answered the phone about 5-10% of the time I tried reaching them. They personified the typical perception of "used car salesmen". Overall, I'd recommend you go elsewhere unless you are very confident of your ability to assess vehicles.
We found Cars on Carp online when looking for a vehicle this summer. In August we went and looked at a few and decided we would buy a truck from here. The prices were great and the salesman we had was very helpful. The buying experience was great, not pushy, and very straightforward. They even offered to undercoat the truck for us. When we picked up the truck everything was good and the vehicle had been under coated. We were told they had to order a traction control sensor and would call us when it was in, so we could come back for them to install it...no problem - we were happy to do so. 2 weeks later I call as I had not heard anything - part was still not in and we were told that these things take time. Now I have ordered ALOT of car parts and none have taken this long to come in, but I give them the benefit of the doubt. I am told they will call as soon as it comes in. 3 more weeks go buy - still nothing. I call back and am told they will look into it and will get back to me. Have not heard from them and two months since we bought it we have no new traction control sensor. I guess we will have to look after it ourselves. Undecided if I would go back to purchase another vehicle.
DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. A little over a year ago I bought a Toyota RAV4 from these guys. It was a 2003 and I was told it had been in one minor accident. When I asked about warranty I was informed that it would be a waste of my money because of the work their in house mechanic has already put into it so I decided not to get it. Turns out their “mechanic” did a complete hack job on the underside of the car which led to the car stopping and spun it into the middle of the road without warning while my partner was driving a short 3 months after purchasing. Had this happened to my partner while they were on the highway, they likely would have been in a life threatening accident due to Cars on Carp’s recklessness and failure to accurately express the issue with the vehicle. They are not trustworthy people to deal with and I am FURIOUS with the headache all of this has caused us. My partner was lucky, but something serious could happen to one of your loved ones.
I recently purchased a 2010 F150 with the Lubrico extended warranty. The warranty cost was around $1500.00 and at the time of purchase I clearly asked if I was able to do the oil changes myself and was told yes no problem just keep your receipts. Finally having time to go through my warranty coverage I find that in fact doing your own changes are NOT allowed!! I also had asked that they make sure my trailer lights worked which they said they did but in fact they DON'T!! I have emailed them in regards to a couple of issues but they DO NOT respond!! Once they have your signature they don't care!! It is too bad they are so shady but oh well it just cost them a sale as my neighbour needed a truck and was looking at ones they had however I advised against it so they bought from another dealer. Paul you should be ashamed of yourself!! Mel
I would prefer to put 0 Stars but that is not an option. We purchased a used truck from this dealer (March 2021) , they sent it to their mechanic to safety and all seemed to be good. When we took the truck in for an oil change to our local shop, we were called right away as the frame rails were rusted. This truck should never have passed a safety. We contacted the management at Cars on Carp, and received one phone call back asking for pictures. We provided those and despite several phone calls and emails since then, we have heard nothing from them. Very disappointing, no follow up and no regard for their clients. Once they have your money, good-bye. Please have any vehicle purchased from Cars on Carp inspected by a qualified mechanic, to be safe it is probably better not to buy from them. Our journey continues.
I liked the place. I found a van which suits my needs; not new but very low kilometres and probably at average 10% lower cost than average similar deals on similar vehicles around town. The van is really nice; drives even better than the Toyota service van my employer used to have. I think these guys were rather swamped(very busy); I saw several vehicles arrive while I was there including another minivan very similar to the one I had just purchased, which is probably why it took them a bit longer than expected to e-transfer back my initial deposit to hold the van. However, these guys were honest with me; I found a beautiful van at their dealership. If everything hadn't been "happening all at once" for them thus delaying the deposit refund, I would give them 5 stars.
Talk about trying to control the message. What is stated in the “positive” reviews does not reflect my experience one bit. The items shown on the website are actually for two different businesses, and the vehicles are not specifically at the location indicated. The place reeks of wet dog, is musty, and has a “Herb Tarlick” used car salesman stench about it. The owner is only polite until he thinks he is losing the superior position in the sale, then gets nasty. If you complain, he tries to intimidate and ridicule you. Don’t bother going to this shady business.
----* BUYER BEWARE *---- A bunch of crooks, and it could cost you your life. Do not allow Cars on Carp to certified your vehicle. Make sure you have it inspected by a mechanic of your choice. I purchased a 2012f150, shorty after purchase the problems started and never stopped. But not little problems. Problems so big that I had mechanics tell me that it never should have been certified in the condition it was in. And they addressed huge safety concerns.
My boyfriend bought a truck from these guys. PLEASE BEWARE! They are super unprofessional as in will not return your phone calls and they do improper safety’s on their vehicles. Even if you take your purchased vehicle that was not properly safetied into their shop, they don’t fix the problem hence forcing you to go elsewhere to fix what they should have fixed in the safety. Do not purchase from Cars on Carp very unimpressed!
Sold us a ticking time bomb. Not trustworthy at all. Highly NOT recommended. I will never return there and if I do it is to warn other people who might be there to turn around and take their business elsewhere. They seem like super nice people but thats how they get you. My car wasn't inspected well at all and later found out several things were just easy hacks that they could get away with.
Originally went to buy something small and all-wheel drive. Ended up finding a gem that I absolutely love driving. The entire buying process was 100% hassle-free, and I found their open-ness and honesty (and lack of pushiness) to be refreshing in the industry. In the 3 months I have owned the car I have had nothing but positives, so I'm totally happy with my buy.
I'll be a repeat customer for sure!! No matter how busy they were (and they sure we're busy!) I never felt rushed or pushed along like so many car salesman do. They took their time, answered all my questions, and had a great selection of inventory. Extremely pleased with my service, and my purchase. Thank you again to the staff of Cars on Carp!!!
buying a new/used car/truck is one of those things nobody likes to do -- i was pleased with my experience with cars on carp. bought a used silverado for a fair price, no stress, no pressure, deficiencies were fixed when i picked up at the agreed upon time. in short i recommend this dealership
Read the reviews, I wish I had. How this place has remained in business baffles me. I was there no longer than 5 minutes and felt like I was just a walking wallet. Even though I was there for a specific vehicle that was on their website, the “owner” kept steering me to a different vehicle.
My husband and I bought a truck from Cars on Carp October, 2020. We were very happy with all aspects of our purchase. Admittedly, I was quite nervous about buying a used truck from anywhere other than a GMC dealership but after working with Cars on Carp, I would recommend them to anyone.
If you wanted a lesson in how not to do customer service, visit this dealership. The “owner” is a member of a biker gang, and seems to think that intimidating potential or displeased customers is an effective conflict resolution. Believe the negative reviews, they are 100% on point.
I called Paul about financing a vehicle and in less than a week I'm now driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla. It was a pleasure doing business with him, as he answered all my questions until I felt confident in my decision. He even gave me 30 bucks to get gas and a car wash!
Went to these guys about a Subaru I saw on their site, checked it out and drove it, they got the ball rolling and was able to complete the deal same week. Hard working and professional guys, I appreciate their help and would recommend them.
Friendly and honest service! No pushy salesmen. Cars are clean and in good condition. Lots to see at if you're looking for a mid priced used vehicle and a straightforward purchase. Couldn't be happier.
I dealt with Paul, very smooth transaction. He was very honest and I was definetly happy getting my Ford F-150, I would recommend this dealership. I got a great truck and I got a great deal!
Took my car in for an oil change and aligment they were very helpfull and fast plus they hourly rate there is great one of the lowest ones that ive taken my car to... At least in the city
NO STARS - Dont buy any vehicles from this place. They're selling cars that are not being given proper safety's. If this happens to you beware they will bully you and be aggressive.
The car we went to see would not start, the engine was filthy, the check engine light was on and the brakes were faulty. The state of the car did not say much for the company.
Nice selection of trucks but I never got the chance to do business with them because they dont take trade ins for whatever reason. They missed out on a cash sale today
Bought a used car from them Jim was great, gave me a reasonable price. The overall experience was good. Will see over the next year how the car works.
Horrible place I'm pretty sure they gave me a bum safety and then laughed about it. not trust worthy people at all to do business with
Very friendly staff that are more than willing to assist in any way possible. Nothing but great experience from start to finish!
Excellent choice and variety. No hidden fees or extra charges. Very pleased with our experience.
Sold me a great truck in 2021. Ask for the bill of sale over a year later and they gave it to me
Very professional. Great selection. I would strongly recommend buying a car here
Brutal dont waste your time read the reviews before BUYER BEWARE crooks
I did not care for the way I was aggressively spoken to by the manager.
Fantastic place, answered all my questions...very helpful!
Lots of used trucks, great prices and amazing staff!
Great service. Great prices.
Don't know, haven't been
The owner is rude.
