Richard B. Indianapolis, IN 022 8/18/2022 3 photos I have been here for around three weeks ..the staff was amazing ...they love their job you can tell. they always work with an uplifting spirit. the acute therapy unit on the sixth floor is a place that should be the example other hospitals should follow. from the nurses to the therapists gave me comfort and ideals and proper ways to now accomplish what we could.d do many years ago... the problem I had with st. Francis is that the housekeeping is terrible and disgusting. the administration evidently thinks that it is ok to short-staff housekeeping. I notice that this is a practice all through the hospital short staff, overworked, and blame it on covid. during the time I was here, they never cleaned the bathroom. the toilet, floor, shower. never mopped or swept. the room was cleaned only swept while I was here and never mopped only because I raise the issue with the doctor. ...same thing ....the room was never really cleaned, sanitized, etc. it was disgusting. the housekeeper apologized saying that they are so short-staffed. the nurses are now doing many other jobs that used to be done by other staff...they bring in the lunch trays, empty trash, and empty towels, take meals out, pick up things in the room, so many things that I remember others handled so these nurses could attend to the patients. you know they realized that they could make money, short staff and blame covid and costs haven't gone short-staffed...and profits haven't gone short-staffed...shame on them... nurses and physical and occupational therapists ...you are amazing. staff, you get 5-star housekeeping you get a 1 and it isn't the employees to blame ...administration you should take the cleanliness more attention.
This would be zero stars if I could. I went to the emergency room thinking I was having a miscarriage. We went from one waiting room to the next. Finally I get to a room and the person goes to draw my blood. Obviously this person doesn't know how to find a vein he just kept jabbing the iv in my arm to try and find a vein. I'm severely bruised on both of my arms from him trying to find a vein. Finally he finds one draws 7 vials of blood and leaves it on the counter. I also had to take a pee test as well so my vials of blood and urine sat for about an 1.5 hours till someone else came in. After waiting a lady comes in to draw my blood and sees my blood sitting on the counter. I was told I was getting and ultrasound first before my pelvic exam (which didn't happen) then the lady comes back puts me in a different room for the pelvic exam (which the ultrasound comes first before the pelvic exam to see if the baby has a heart beat) saying the doctor will be right in. I wait in that room for an 1.5 hours for the doctor to come. I getting irritated cause I'm possibly having a miscarriage and my vein blew from where they left the iv in me. My husband goes and find the nurse to get the doctor so the iv can be taken out. Finally the doctor comes in trying to make excuse after excuse. I told him just take this iv out I'm leaving and going to a different hospital. After leaving the nurses at the station loudly says to the doctor well you did drop everything to go to her. While driving go the other hospital I get a notification on my chart saying they tested my blood even though I was gone. I have pictures of the bruises that were left on me along with a picture of where they left my blood and pee sitting on the counter.
Jan 2nd at like 3am I had to have my girlfriend and her son take me hear as I was so dehydrated and sick I couldn't drive. Get there were the only ones there and still takes 45 minutes to get a room. Was told she couldn't bring him back with her and he had to wait alone in the car (he's 3) so she had to go sit with him in the car the whole time. Fine whatever. Eventually nurse comes in and gives me ivs and leaves... no pillow, no way to adjust the bed, just leaves, I tried calling for help... no one came, I had no remote on my bed besides the alarm way behind, so I had to reach (with ivs in my arms) behind me to hit the button, only THEN did someone come and offer me a pillow, still no way to adjust the bed. Finally got a bit of sleep then after about 2 hours he had me take a small sip of sprite, I didn't throw it up (I wasn't moving so) and he gave me papers and told me to go home. Got lost on the way out (pretty sure I went out the employee entrance) got back into the car where my girlfriend and her son were waiting, and immediately threw up again all the liquids I had been given through ivs. The did prescribe Zofran which did help, but I could have just called my primary doctor to have that called into the pharmacy and taken it. We've taken my girlfriends son here a few times and they don't address any concerns that we have... ever since covid it seems all they want to do is get you out of there... will be going taking the slightly longer drive and going to community from now on!!!!
I delivered my first baby boy at St Francis women and children on July 12. Being my first baby, I was so nervous for the entire experience. I had Dr Randolph as my OB from Southside OBGYN and am totally impressed with her and would highly recommend her. When I got admitted for delivery, everyone was fantastic that we dealt with. Dr Randolph was thankfully on call, so we had her checking on me. We then had Kayla as our nurse and she was absolutely amazing!!! She did about 90% of the entire laboring portion and I cannot say enough nice things about her. She made the entire experience awesome. Dr Randolph’s shift ended a few hours before I delivered and she took the time to come in and tell me bye and who I would have deliver our baby. We had Dr Dunlap who in the few hours we had him, we were so impressed and thankful. Every first time mom is nervous for their first birth and I can honestly say that this birth was an amazing experience all because of Dr Randolph, Kayla and Dr Dunlap. We are also thankful to God for a safe delivery of our sweet boy. I would highly recommend these doctors and nurses! Thank you so much!
Worst hospital ever!! My husbands currently in the stroke unit rehab.. currently trying to get him moved! 1.)The case manager admitted she didn't know certain medical terms/word and had to "google" it.. 2.) they told me insurance gave my husband a discharge date and will not approve any more rehab.. not true! I have access to all preauths and spoke with insurance. The hospital set the discharge date 3.) they are denying a 11 year old special needs child, that's wheel chair bound in to see his dad due to restrictions. Lucy at the front desk told me they made an exception for one but won't for my son. 4.) a nurse pulled me aside yesterday and told me she wouldn't allow this hospital to care for her own relatives and she agrees my husband should not be discharged I have never been so disappointed in a hospital in my entire life!!
I went to St Francis for a bone density scan last week. As a former 40 year employee of St Francis I know the facility well. My appt was at 9:00. My issue was with parking or I guess I should say lack of. After riding up and down about 20 aisles all the way to building 8051 I spotted a person walking to the parking lot so I followed him and took his spot. I really find it hard to believe the hospital has not doing something about the parking problem. There is no valet parking anymore at Entrance 6. In my opinion this problem is unacceptable. For a person with mobility issues it would be a bigger problem. I would suggest someone in upper administration take a drive around the parking lot and see how difficult it is to find a parking spot. Once I went in for my test everything went smoothly but that first impression was bad.
On 12/13/2023, I spent 2 nights in ICU/1 night in a Regular Room…following Open Heart Surgery for an Ascending Aortic Aneurysm. Dr. Gerdisch gave me my life back and I had excellent care by every individual I came in contact with at Franciscan Health Hospital.(South) Although it’s impossible to remember everyone’s names…I will remember their kindness and compassion. Two Nurses worked tirelessly to help get me back on my feet and out of the hospital earlier than the intended stay length of time. I was on a mission and they believed I could do it…Noel and Cory… I appreciate you more than you will ever know.
If I could give this place a 0 I would. My brother was having awful chest pain and experiencing shallow breathing. We got there at 1:30pm and he got taken back at 5:10pm. There were about 15 people there when we first arrived. And the crowd grew increasingly bigger, to about 30-35. All of which got taken back before him. I get he’s not physically ill on the outside, but what if he was experiencing a heart attack? or a stroke? This places’ memo should be “emergency room but you’ll be sitting and waiting for 4+ hours unless you’re bleeding out”.
First 2 or 3 days here they make you feel like you are important. Any longer than that an they start forgetting about you. I been here 7 days as of now from a broken vertebrae in my neck. It took them 2 and a half hours for me to get some water for my meds. Then certain nurses try to act like therapist. All they did was tell me I need to figure out how to do more for my kids. Even with 3 broken vertebrae and brain bleeding. I am potentially going to be hear for a long time. Ugh.
I was scheduled for an induction. I started contracting and arrived at appointment time to be toward no beds are available and they didn’t know when I could get induction. Remind you I am full term pregnant, contracting and wasn’t heard. The staff was rude. I was sent home 3 times and never received a call to come in for induction. Instead I called several times to advocate for myself and my baby. I ended up going to another hospital and delivered my child.
