My brother and I stopped by the bar for his friend's birthday. It was incredibly loud, and crowded, and there was hardly anywhere to sit. It didn't look like the staff were worried about picking up empties. The tables were full of empty cups and bottles. Needless to say I didn't want to be there. I called a ride and my brother offered to wait with me to make sure I got off alright. As we exited the bar the bouncer angrily walked up snatched my brother's drink (In a plastic go cup) and yelled at him that he couldn't bring drinks outside. (We had previously been outside, only in a fenced area) My brother was apologizing as the guy went inside and threw out his drink and came back out taunting that "that's why you lost your drink! That's why you lost your drink! That's why you lost your drink." It was so hostile and unnecessary. Had he just pointed it out to my brother we would have went right back inside. We weren't belligerent or in any ways trying to get away with something. My brother just wanted to ensure my safety. I personally will never patronize this bar again.

If you like dive bars, you'll like Grumpy's (especially if you like punk music). I work at a bar/restaurant nearby and Grumpy's is by far my favorite spot for a drink after a shift. Great tap list and liquor selection, including plenty of local beers, and if you are hungry you can always order yourself a Heggies frozen pizza. The regulars from the neighborhood are very cool and welcoming and the staff is awesome, they will treat you right. If you are in the Twin Cities and looking to grab a drink, I highly recommend Grumpy's.

Grumpy's is a classic. It's everything you'd expect in a dive bar. You can't not like it. Yeah, the patrons can be annoying and entitled, parking sucks, the bathroom is not stellar, they sell Veggies pizza, and it's always loud. That's what makes it the bar that it is! NA options: I love that they have Guinness NA! I also love that the bartender served the beer in an actual Guinness glass!

One of America’s finest bars. Staff and clientele are amazing, professional, and fast. The prices are entirely reasonable. The have a truly varied and delicious beer list that is very heavy on Minnesota brews. Every Monday they do a happy hour with vinyl spinning and half off Minnesota beer. The patio is a good size and they host a lot of charity events with great music in the yard.

We are here frequently for bevvys and pizza. The staff members, security included, are always incredibly friendly, drinks are made well, cans and bottles are always cold, cool merch, they've got a pinball machine and usually have a fire rolling on the patio in the colder months from what we've seen. We love this divey joint and all the staff here.

I didn't eat here. Not sure if there is a menu or not. Service was good, the drinks were easy to get as there was plenty of staff on hand. It was a Saturday night and the bar didn't get to half full.....I think? There wasn't a band or karaoke. Neat little bar. I will go back someday.

Hadn't been here in years. Went with my Dad. 97 degrees. Nothing is better than a cold beer when it's nearly triple digits outside. Looks the same as far as I can tell as it did last time I was there. Friendly staff. Friendly people. Decent prices on beer. Couldn't ask for much else. Place was very clean.

Casual corner corner hang out, decent beer and liquor selection. Not the most friendly manager or skilled drink makers but the place is called grump's so I guess I'd say it's fitting. Definitely a local spot with a patio dj that plays records which was cool. I'd say a firm 3.5 hang out place.

Most of the time I love this bar. Fair pricing. Fridays and Saturdays are cramped but that's to be expected. The chick bartender puts way too much ice in your drink but I've been going here for years and it's got very punk/community vibes. This area is gonna be the new uptown someday.

Slightly packed and they don't serve real food but the staff and drinks are amazing and frozen pizza works in everyone's favor. Loved the vibe definately a dress how you please and everyone is accepting. Will be going back cuz staff alone is a good reason and the prices are fair

Great dive! Def recommend if you’re lookin for a local spot to grab a beer or cheap cocktail. The inside is dark and divey with a pinball machine, bar, plenty of tables, and a doorway that goes to a surprisingly charming backyard with barrels, seats, tables, & lights.

One of the better dive bars in the city. Bar tenders have a likable ‘grumpiness’, but pour well, serve fast and get the job done. For a small bar they have one of the better tap lists (and not just the same beers everyone else has on tap, which is very welcome).

We had our wedding reception in their private backyard & it was absolutely extraordinary. Terrific service & a very pleasant all around experience. They went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed ourselves.

Greatest bar in Minneapolis! Bartenders are friendly, and the regulars are always welcoming and talkative. The beer selection is wonderful, with an ever-rotating selection of local offerings. Fun weekly specials like MN Monday’s (half off

I can understand why this place has won a "Best Dive Bar" award. The place was kind of messy, but that kind of adds to the experience. The shots were heavy pours, so that's always fun to see. Good beer on tap, and a low key atmosphere.

Great old school NE bar. Good selection of cold local beers on tap, the usual liquor assortment, Heggie's for when you need to fill the belly and a large secluded outdoor space with a wonderful full on fire in the can. No complaints.

  • Ben Brausen

Without a doubt the best bar in the world. A wonderfully cozy dive bar with the best craft beer selection around. The bartenders are awesome and always serve up a great time. The crowd is a fun-loving bunch of neighborhood regulars,

The very best bloody Mary's I've ever had. Amazing, hard-working staff, great patio, really classy but old school vibe with the decor inside.
