I was so shocked at the service I received yesterday at this food place I came in I and asked the man at the desk do you pay by card here he replied me yes then I told him my order which was Large Singapore fried rice with chilli oil on top and pepper chicken and then he replied no we don't pay by card and started showing me some leaflet then I said ok I will go and get cash he kept asking me so are going to order or not rudely I ignored his rudeness and said I will go and get cash and said I did still want to order what I asked for and so I did so then came back. When I came back I told him my Mum also wants to order something as my Mum called me to tell me her order then I said can you please add that to the order my Mum wanted Large Singapore fried rice with chilli oil on top and spare ribs and fresh chilli's the man then said in an abrupt manner why didn't you tell me about your mums order before the meal was £24.70 all together as the fresh chilli peppers were added on and were 20p. I then waited for my takeaway to come the man gave it to me saying it was ready, I took my takeaway thinking everything including the fresh peppers in a small bowl was there and took it, my mum was waiting around the corner from the shop in her car so I had to walk in the pouring rain back to it and we were both hungry when I got to the car and checked inside the bag I noticed the man hadn't given us any cutlery for us to use to eat the takeaway, he also added no serviette's and the fresh peppers that the shop sell that my Mum asked for were not there and I went back to the shop and told the man that the fresh peppers were not there and he gave us no cutlery and serviettes, The man then said "95% of customers don't need cutlery', as he handed me cutlery rolled up in serviettes in a sarcastic manner with a smirk across his face (I was so angry when he made this comment I don't know if he was trying to be funny or something all he needed to say was sorry I forgot to give you your cutlery I wouldn't even have been upset I am quite reasonable I would have understood as that place was busy that day and food places usually get busy around the evening time anyway) and I also mentioned to him that the peppers that I paid for are missing he then said the red peppers are inside the rice I said I paid for it separately and it was supposed to be in a bowl (there were no red peppers in the rice) the man kept being rude and argumentative and at some point in the conversation he demanded that I should pay for the peppers that I already paid for again. The service I received from this man was absolutely appalling I couldn't believe he had the cheek to ask me to pay more money for something I had already paid for bear in mind I used to stay around that Newcross area and my old church was across the road I would often buy food from this shop and it was always lovely food and the staff were friendly even though I no longer live in London me and my Mum always looked for to eating Chinese from this place whenever we visited London as we don't have many Chinese take away places were we are, it seems like they have since gotten new management, it's really a shame honestly as it was a lovely take out place this man will ruin the reputation of this shop if he doesn't improve on his abysmal customer service skills.

I used to order food frequently from Happy Inn however, I moved out of the borough and have not been there for years. I decided to drive down there by means of treating myself. I went to the counter and placed my order with the older lady out of the two that were there. After placing my order she repeated it back to me...from that point I felt confident that I would receive exactly what had been relayed back. When I eventually reached home after such a long journey, I noticed that my order was wrong. I then called them to explain and the woman who served me began to scream at me on the phone saying that I should not come back and that "we are all the same". Not quite sure what she meant by that but unfortunately, what I was expecting was to be listened to and for the lady to respond in a professional and calm tone. I was literally in tears as I have never experienced such rudeness. She then hung up the phone and felt deprived from voicing my issue. I did try calling back but sadly after two attempts they kept terminating my calls. Appalling customer service and I shall not be recommending them.

I have just had a terrible experience with this restaurant that I simply cannot recommend to anyone. I ordered rice with black beans sauce, but was instead delivered rice with fried prawns. When I called to politely explain the mistake, the lady who took my call was unbelievably argumentative, and extremely rude. She even hung up on me not once, but twice! Feeling frustrated, I decided to go to the restaurant in person to speak with a manager about the issue. To my utter shock, the man who came out was even worse than the lady on the phone. He was twice as rude and even went so far as to tell me that I had been banned from the restaurant, which is a complete fabrication considering I have been a loyal customer for the past two years. If you are reading this review before ordering from this restaurant, please save yourself the trouble and frustration. I have never experienced such rudeness and unprofessionalism from a restaurant in my life. It's clear that they don't value their customers and have no interest in providing quality service. Don't waste your time or money on this place.

A wide variety of dishes available. In my order, there were salt & pepper chicken, roast duck with mushroom, crispy shredded beef with chilli, stir fry mixed veggie, and chicken with green pepper & blackbean sauce, and complimentary prawn crackers. The salt and pepper chicken was my favourite, but everything here was delicious. We shared for six people, and everyone was happy. It cost only £5 per person. Call-in orders were convenient, but I had to speak slowly, clearly, and repeatedly to be sure the cashier understood. Better to specify the code number of dishes from the menu to minimise misunderstanding. And yeah, this is cash only

I have been a loyal customer of this Chinese restaurant for the past two years. However, my recent experience with their service was incredibly disappointing and has left me hesitant to order from them again. The level of rudeness and poor customer service I encountered was beyond comprehension. Despite their mistake in delivering the wrong order, they showed a sheer lack of accountability and refused to rectify the situation. Their behavior clearly indicates a disregard for customer satisfaction, which is unacceptable for any business. We used to walk past wondering why there was always so many people waiting to pick up their food when the other food establishments on New cross road were practically empty. We now know it’s because the food is nice esp for a takeaway. The prices are great if you order directly from the store (just eat, Uber etc will charge you almost £2 on top of everything you order) and they have their own delivery drivers. My only issue is if you call at busy times (Friday night) the lady will ask if you can call back in a few hours to order which isn’t great but not a problem if it’s isn’t Friday.

I ordered crispy, shredded beef with pork fried rice it was cold, lacking flavour. The beef looked old, the chicken balls that I ordered also were greasy. Sweet-and-sour sauce did not taste authentic. Very disappointing. this is the worst Chinese I’ve ever had if you want good Chinese go to Happy Inn New Cross Gate

Absolutely disgusting! The duck black bean sauce was inedible, big flaps of rubbery duck skin in a disgusting sauce, and the salt and pepper squid was bland and mushy, also inedible. Chucked it in the bin after one bite. food

I am disgusted with the quality of service offered by this food establishment. I'd rather walk over hot coal than place an order. Anyway I prefer Sushi. I also choose to spend my money with businesses that care about providing a good quality service. What these ingreates forget is that the UK is littered with dozens of chinese restaurants.

I have ordered from Happy Inn many times before. Their dishes are okay for the price they are at, however, twice now I have come across a piece of a plastic in my dish which I could have easily choked on. The chefs/staff need to be careful about this.

Not sure if they’ve changed chef but their fried rice is dry and tasteless & doesn’t taste fresh at all. The Best Chinese takeaway in the surrounding area is the Chinese takeaway in Camberwell. Tasty house. You won’t be disappointed.

I gave them an extra £10 note by mistake and they told me that I’m not getting it back! AWFUL! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS POOR! I even heard their driver say that I gave them extra cash but quickly cut the call so I couldn’t hear any of their conversation. Luckily I recorded the call for evidence.

Love their prawn fried rice or house special fried rice and salt and pepper chicken wings. Always a great Friday night treat and always delicious!

Haven't had a takeaway chinese for a couple years due to so many poor quality offerings about you don't know who to trust. Had a lovely dry chow mein for a reasonable cost it was very fresh .will definitely be back to try something else. Easy parking available in the side roads

I live around the corner so frequently walk in to order. I never have to wait more than about 10 minutes for my food an the girl behind the counter is friendly - the Mongolian beef is particularly good and the chicken fried rice has become a weekly treat.

Cannot believe it! So after a year I thought I'll give it another go. I walked in the girl behind the counter didn't even look up from what she was doing. I stood there for two minutes then walked out! I can safely say I'll never go back

So i tried to order on just eat as i have eaten from them before and it was nice. I ordered they accepted then cancelled my order after 10mins. I tried to call so i could ask why but no answer wasted my time.

Food is very nice ! it's very busy and the waiting time can be around 20-25 minutes but it is worth the wait ! I've tried from their prawns, their beef and their chicken dishes and they're all lovely !

Fast delivery, food is piling hot, good value good. I ordered dry mixed seafood ho fun, Peking spare ribs and chips. Spare ribs is nice but I had better elsewhere. Definitely recommended!
