"Independence Park has one of the nicest summertime Farmer's Markets in the city with many vendors not seen at other markets; always on the second and fourth Sundays of the month, June - October"
The park is amazing however my semi low rating had to deal with what occured in the park house. After a few hours of playing with my boyfriend and the kiddo the enviable happened. We all had to use the bathroom. I'm not sure if we... or rather I was going against any rules here by using the bathroom in the park house. My boyfriend and the kiddo went to the bathroom and I respectively went to the women's restroom. Everything was fine until I left and I was glared at by an employee. I felt extremely uncomfortable and tried to locate my boyfriend. The employee followed me out of the door as if I comitted some heinous act. As soon as I left I hugged the kiddo and I thought that would ease the tension with the employee. It didn't. My boyfriend was pretty upset. Luckily I live super close so I guess next time I'll avoid the house and signing up the kiddo for anything that might go on in there in the future.

THIS PARK IS AWESOME!!! I used to bring my kids here when they were younger and moved from this area 20 years ago, came back today with my daughter and grandsons and what a difference. The park was beautiful then but the changes they made is wonderful!! The park is handicap accessible with soooooo many things for the kids to play with/ in, I can't wait to bring my handicap daughter here again. I used to bring her here before she nearly drowned when she was 5 and brought her after but didn't feel comfortable, not today didn't get that vibe at all. Anyway sorry for the long review please try the park you won't be disappointed. ❤
This is a nice big park with a huge playground. On a sunny weekend it gets a bit busy but our preschooler was fine, the bigger kids showed her the ropes and the other parents were friendly. Just wish they had more benches as those were constantly full. The park is a good spot for a picnic with shady spots under many trees. Every other week they have a wonderful farmers market. If you don't bring a picnic basket they can help you out. Also, appreciate that the park building is open on Sundays and the bathrooms are clean!
Independence Park has one of the nicest summertime Farmer's Markets in the city with many vendors not seen at other markets; always on the second and fourth Sundays of the month, June - October. If you like visiting old buildings around the city or just need a restroom, stop into the field house--which I imagine hasn't had any major renovation since the day it opened.
The new remodeled playground is great. There is a rope climbing structure, a large corkscrew slide, a rocking hammock-like swing that my son loves, zip-line style gliders, and much more. There are great offerings for bigger kids and little kids alike. On top of all this, there are baseball and soccer fields as well as a public gym and restrooms in the field house.
This place is lovely and the summer farmer's market is small but excellent. Tons of options, samples galore and there's always some kind of music or activity, and just a general neighborhood bustle. People here are always friendly, and my dog absolutely loves going for walks here and running around! (On his leash ... though some folks let theirs off.)
One of the parks I used to go to on a regular basis as a kid, and although it's hardly a place that'll overwhelm you in terms of nature or playing fields it's still a better use of lands than, say, a golf course. Really nice, quiet area of Irving Park south of the park as well and especially convenient to public transportation.
It's always clean no bums no gang bangers no broken glass no shootings no needles... I never need to worry when I take my kid D's here. I have 2 parks closer to us and I'm sure more I don't know about but this park offers so much and safety and clean just make it heaven for a piece of mind for my lil guys!
Small park but great for walking, setting up a picnic, playing tennis, baseball, etc. There's often a group or two that set to volleyball nets as well. Plenty of space to relax and occasionally there is a great little food truck that sets to near Irving Park road and they have great snacks and food.
The staff in the swim area are wonderful. They have all been there for quite a while. My son (4) is hesitant as a swimmer and they work with him very patiently. If you are a parent and are going to be waiting there during swimming bring some shirts with you. It is super hot in there year round.
This is an awesome park. There are activities for everyone and a nice area to sit and relax for shade.
Playground
The playground is really nice with all of the elements for different ages and abilities.
Picnic area
They have a decent shaded lawn to sit on with blankets.
4th of July event 2019. Popsicles. Fireman parade. Andrades' Snow cones. ice pops. lemonade. potato sack races. egg toss. balloon fight. Special bicycles. Neighborly ice cream truck. More neighborhood events like this would be so great. A little more diversity would also be great.
Some teachers / classes are really on the ball and my child and I have enjoyed their classes. Some teachers are awful and you will show up week after week to find the classes been cancelled and no one has let you know. Very old facility so I hope you enjoy the Charming aspect...
The park is excellent, my discomfort is with the administrators of the pools, since they do not respect the schedule of Friday, supposedly the schedule is from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and they only let you be 15 minutes. It is absurd to edit a schedule that they will not respect
The park has new equipment in the play ground, its really nice, plenty of benches to sit and read, or just relax, plus they have an indoor pool and very small not updated splash area for the kids. And OMG the food truck is incredibly delicious, with good prices!
Sneak snacks food truck has the best chicken pork beef skewers I've tasted in a long time highly recommend making the trip out here and tasting them for yourself .they also have some great Puerto Rican dishes,as well as burgers hot dogs and other fast food items
Went with some family members to let the kids play in the sprinklers. Garbage is everywhere despite garbage cans on the other side of the fence. I think they are due to upgrading the sprinklers. They are a bit worn but do the job of the kids having fun in them.
Can only speak for the playground as I haven't visited any other place here. The playground is wonderful! Both kids were in love and continue requesting to go. The swings are probably some of the best in any city parks I've been to in the past few years.
Wow, it is a really big and beautiful park with welcoming staff and neighborhood folks who love the Chicago experiences of simple, fun and good times - It's here to enjoy for everyone in the heart of a great City to enjoy.
We went there for my daughter's toddler gymnastics. The course is very affordable and is about what your expect for a toddler class. The instructor is friendly and competent, the building is clean and well maintained
Love taking my daughter to this park, there is always kids having fun. There is always something going on at this park. Family activities and more. I have many memories at this park and they all make me smile …
Great park with a really awesome playground! No outdoor basketball court but they do have tennis courts, indoor swimming pool and big areas/fields for baseball, soccer, etc. Also convenient parking(2 parking lots).
I think our dogs love this park more then we do. A friendly neighborhood park with a plenty of grass field in the middle with tennis courts and a small playground. It is well maintained even during the winter.
Huge park with something for all ages. Ample free street parking. Quiet street. So much green space. Soft ground. Smaller area perfect for babies/toddlers. Larger climbing area for older kids. Amazing park!
This park has swings, a rope web you can climb, loads of shade to sit under, a field, and water fountains. And most importanly, they have a mini-zip line type attraction at this park. Need I say more?
This park is clean and offers some great activities all year round like fitness classes, farmers markets and family activities. The staff is friendly and helpful and the parking is safe and plentiful.
We live at this park! Love it! Join the advisory council if you feel that changes need to be placed. You can assist with them. Or if you would like to keep our park a fun and safe place to be.
A nice park. My favorite park is actually Independence Park just a little south east of this location but I can't leave reviews for that one. Random location, quiet, serene, and wonderful.
I truly enjoyed walking in the park early this morning so I did 2 and a 1/2 miles it felt so good and actually I ran into a lot of people that were either jogging exercising in the park.
It's a calm place to just relax and do whatever. There os a pretty good food truck at the park most of the time too, if your ever hungry. I enjoyed myself at the park and you will too.
Nice place to walk and exercise... The grass was not in a good condition because of the weather and also there were some minor damages on the fences surrounding the community building.
Large chill park for pandemic hangz. I especially recommend the rise of flowers for intimate dates. Gives French restaurant vibes without the added stress of dressing up.
Quiet neighborhood park. Great place to just lounge around, there's also plenty of room for team sports. There's a field house with bathrooms, pool, and basketball court.
Small city park.. be careful of parking.. Inadequate signage leads you to getting parking ticket. Little play area. Not fair to have a park that you can't park by...
I love Independence Park. It has a small park with a track I can run on and a nice playground, along with a fieldhouse that has a pool. A perfect neighborhood park.
Nice park been here for many years just doesn’t have outdoor basketball court but I would still give it a 5 star because of the park it is still a great place
We love the swim lessons! I also highly suggest sticking with lessons because the older kids swim laps during lessons! You can never be too good at swimming!
I Go to Park for Special Olympics recreation for Special Olympics I love going to bowling and going to park on Wednesday night and go swimming tomorrow night
The park is wonderful! It is clean! I love the things they have for the kids! The slide and swing are great! The farmers market is wonderful. Keep it up!
It's a nice little park that has a little bit of everything. A baseball diamond, pool, fountain, even a regular hotdog stand nearby if you get hungry.
I played a good bit of Pokemon Go here. Bulbasaur were always available. There's a good balance of trees and fields, and an attractive fieldhouse.
Great park with amazing playground, wonderful facilities, and an awesome staff of coaches and administration! The kids I nanny for love it here.
Changed from when I was a kid. But same hot dog stand in the park haha Playground upgraded looks really nice not the old stuff we are used too.
We attended a nice farmer's market Sunday. There were a bunch of choices of fresh produce, baked goods, and meat, plus other local products.
When here to swim with my kids place was small but it will fill all the needs that we needed to enjoy the day and have some fun in the water
Very nice park are organized lot of people jogging to an exercise, swimming pool its excellent they have even exercise in there very awesome
It's a very nice park to come to especially the staff in the weekend I would recommend everyone to come check out what's going on there
Always nice. Decent tennis court, pool is ehh, playground is great, monthly farmers market is great. Wish it was a pokemon go gym.
Great brand new kids playground, water sprinkle park, baseball and soccer space, indoor swimming pool, gym and variety of classes.
One of the best new playgrounds in the City, thanks to the hard work of the volunteers at the Independence Park Advisory Council!
First time visiting the neighborhood and I love how much space this park is and the that it’s right next to a police station.
Nice neighborhood park. Excellent play ground, nice tennis courts, year-round activities. Dog owners don't curb their dogs.
I love the indoor swimming pool, the park is clean and the new kids area is remodeled and offers many attractions to kids.
Great park! Lots of new updates (playground, pool). Staff is pretty chill, they just don't want you to bug them too much.
I work here and I see lot's of kids enjoying the park. There's a water fountain, cool water sprays and programs for kids
Spacious, great shadow at the sitting grass region, very nice playground. Didn't have any problems to find parking.
Love this park /My nephews love to go swimming there .very friendly life guards..The y enjoy sports camps and more!
I stopped by this park, I didn't go in but the environment seemed very cheerful and peaceful, no issues on my end.
Very clean, 3 baseball fields, playground, lots of space, and quiet. Perfect for any occasion or a quick walk.
Fantastic food and fantastic prices. Mini jibarito is great and the fritters/ meat pies rock. Live this place.
Beautiful park with Chicago Park District camps and Special needs groups. Great kind staff and amazing people
Lots of open space to walk. Very few people out with their dogs walking. Easy access off of Irving Park road
Newly updated playground is amazing. There's also a red food truck near the sprinklers who's food is great.
This park is a lot of fun for the younger kid set. Their playground is fantastic and with lots of space.
The updated Park has some great things to do for kids from climbing to swinging and playing in general.
Beautiful Park, well maintained and clean. Went because of Farmers Market, absolutely amazing food!
I was actually doing a job across the street but i love that park thats where i learned how to swim
Great pool, always clean, no staff. Location appears to be understaffed. DJ is a great lifeguard.
Its always a peaceful experience. You'll definitely enjoy your day there with family or friends.
Plenty of options on the playground. I love that they have swings for children with disabilities
It's a clean, nice park with a lot of local events and an indoor pool. This park is nailin' it.

It's more geared towards children but adults are able to walk around and enjoy the scene.
Nice size park, but with a small field house. I also wish they had more classes to offer.
It's a huge park and they have many options for kid's entertainment. Love it!!
The spacious playground at the south side of the park has like-new equipment.
Lovely experience here. Kiddos aren't scared to socialize and take turns.
Nice park, it has tennis court , playground for kids and a swmming pool.

They have a great Farmers Market on Sunday's from June thru October.

Lots of space for activities and can usually find very nice people.
