"This is by far the best park on Mason Ave I've been to and I've been to all 74 of them at least 4 times each"
This park is where my son went to preschool. Because of some circumstances i didn't or was unable to control, this park allows thousands of memories that were for the most part amazing. I have only 1 bad memory (kinda) from this place. It was not because of anything normal like late night knuckleheads or people out to do harm. My amazing son at 4 yrs old saw another boy grab his baby sister and did the first "Nobody touches my sister" protective gesture of his life by getting the kid by the throat, holding him against the wall of the gym, and with fury in his heart intended to end this classmates of his life. I was overly proud but thank God I was there when it happened because my tiny son grew up a little bit in front of me that day. He is now 24 yrs old , working on his masters, a perfect example of what my daughter should be looking for in relationships. So I wander through this park quite often and every step conjures pic and memories of a different time of my life.
I like Mason Park. They have all the accommodations you'd expect from a public park and more. Baseball/soccer field, playground, child care center, recreation center, outdoor basketball (just recently fixed), and to top it off a splash pad for a little bonus reason to attract you over. This park is always busy with bdays and day camps during the summer so it's a great place for socializing. Though there is plenty of shady trees here there is no shade on the playground so I'd just say be careful when its hot. The playground equipment can get fairly hot on those days.
I took my sister to play in the splash play pad and it smelled terrible due to the reused water. Muliple dirty dogs were in the water it was gross. There were many kids that were little playing with the water that smelled like the zoo. I noticed kids drinking the water, imagine all the germs that kids were playing with. I am fine with dogs walking around the park but in the water NO! The owner of the dogs didn't even have children with them either. Is the splash pad for kids or DOGS??? Very disappointing.
It was my first time visiting this park and we loved it! It is very clean and well maintained and not crowded at all. They have a playground for both toddlers and bigger kids side by side each other. They have a big splash pad area as well but it’s currently closed due to Covid restrictions. They have many picnic tables throughout the park and a large grass area in case you want to relax on the grass. It’s a great place to bring your dog as well since there is a lot of room.
This is by far the best park on Mason Ave I've been to and I've been to all 74 of them at least 4 times each. The drinking fountain next to the SE baseball diamond is suuuuupurb. Great pressure and that Chatsworth tap water we all love dearly. Also you have to stop by to see how over 3 dozen soccer games can be in motion at any given time of day. Truly a masterpiece of human engineering and social syncretism to be revered by all. 6 stars!
Great park for kids. Keep your dogs on a leash, there's a dog park in the mid valley. Go there instead. Lots of birthday parties and sports practices every week. Friendly, diverse community. Trees are old and huge branches are falling so beware. A great place to walk the perimeter with a lot of others walking and visibility for safety.
Playground
Indoor playground for parents and kids of all ages. Wear socks or plan to purchase socks
This park has the coolest swings and play equipment. Honestly, as an adult I sometimes wish there weren't any kids there just so I could go on half the cool swings and whatnot. It's a very clean well maintained place to take your kiddos. Everyone I've ever run into there have been really nice, no rude or boujee type folks..which can ruin a place vibe. My kids love going here and I don't mind taking them, since it is such a nice place.
I love the equipment they have here. It's fun and stimulating for my boys (5 year old twins). There are also a lot of shady trees and plenty of picnic benches under a wonderful cluster of trees. The grass fields are awesome for birthday parties (including jumpers). The water play features are currently shut down due to COVID. The park is still amazing. Today was empty, but when COVID was not around, we always had to deal with crowds.
Took my 2 nephews here on Monday afternoon, and it wasn't crowded at all, and it was actually the 2nd time I've been here with my nephews when I'm at their home babysitting them. They lobe this park, and I notice it has a lil mini splash park, but closed currently due to covid restrictions. I also took my toy Yorkie with us as well, and she totally enjoyed it!!! Overall great park, nice location, and nice people as well!
Peaceful, tranquility of Mason park best describes this lovely place. Always maintained so well by park's personnel it's for sure a great hangout. Come over with your family and visit this special place for a picnic or just to unwind, and you'll soon see why it's extremely popular. One favorite area to checkout is the fountains that shoot water sporadically from the ground for everyone to enjoy--I love it!
Very large park, baseball diamond, water fountains and toilets. Nice play ground with plenty of fun for kids. Dogs need a lease and there is a picnic area with hot coal disposal, but I didnt see any grills so you gotta bring your own I guess. Lots of trash cans so no excuse to not keep this park clean! Plus a parking lot and basketball court. KEEP THE PARK CLEAN, PICK UP AFTER YOURSELVES!!
Went to Mason Park for my grandson PreK graduation. Never new they provided these services, unfortunately this was the last program the park is providing. It is a great park for the kids to go and play at. We came here a few years ago for my other grandson birthday party in July. It was an extremely hot day and they didn't have the water area working, still not sure if it works.
Nice park, has baseball fields , basket ball courts, a indoor gymnasium and a play area for kids with swing set, slide and stuff . It does not have soccer are or allowed. It does not have barbecues or barbecue pits. Parking lot is very small so you will have to park on street if it's busy. Their is a new day care their but I have no experience with it. Very busy on weekends.
It's a very nice park. However today we drove out here so the children could play on the splash pad... And the water is not on! The sign says the splash pad is "closed for the season". So it totally defeated our purpose for driving all the way over here... If I wanted the children to play at a regular park we would have stayed home or went somewhere closer.
Great spot to take your pup for a quick run in the morning or night. Not fenced so make sure they are well trained. Park shares space with a playground so be aware of kids.
Playground
Watch out for kids.
Dog-friendliness
No fence but wide open field between a neighborhood and Mason Ave.
Picnic area
At least 4 benches for groups to meet.
Very active: soccer, basketball, softball, working out; you name it, it's going on. Also ample room for park goers to just lay out a blanket and enjoy being in fresh air. There is also a playground, with walk in water fountains (but it isn't active due to covid). Minus a star simply due to aesthetics - no pond, for example.
Nice park with huge playground, soccer space and two baseball fields. Only problem was no maintenance at the actual base ball fields, no bases or chalk striping. Some of us practice year round and if simi can maintain year round, LA can too. Very close from the 118 fwy. at Porter Ranch exit. Beautiful park overall.
Well.... we were told when we called the office that the splash pad would be open , but of course when we got to the park the water wasn't running , c'mon..... thats why we all go with the whole family to relax on the weekends and there are no notices on the website or nowhere to let u know that is happening
Such a cutr park. They have two playgrounds. Theres swings all kinds of swings and theres play houses. Bridges. And sand! Your kids wont wanna leave and theres plenty of benches shaded by trees to set up some food. Theres a basketball court. Its really a great family park. Definitely recommend!
was excited to take my daughter to the splash pad but it was filthy multiple dogs were in the water. I strongly disagree because the water is very dirty and smells horrible imagine all the germs the dogs have being poured onto the little kids. I thought the splash pad was for kids not animals!
I'm at the park 4 times a week for kids AYSO practice and games. Nice region for soccer. The only thing is that the field is half dirt half overgrown weeds. But it gets mowed before the games every weekend. I recommend this park. Oh and it has a little water park area for younger kids.
Local park that gets easily overcrowded due to the awesome little water park. The huge swings are the boys favorite and I enjoy the snap in safety feature. Back in our days if you fell of the swing oh well lol can’t believe already saying back in my day I’m sooo old!!!!
Nice little park. We sat here and ate lunch one weekday. The grass was clean where we were and there weren't a whole lot of people. I think it was about 2pm on a Thursday. Right next to the park is a shopping center with a few take it restaurants and a Trader Joe's.
My family had an amazing weekend at this park, but today we went to the park but the play water pad was terrible. The water is recycled and smelled like a zoo, there were many dogs in the water,is not ok for little kinds to play on this condition. Very disappointed
Nice little park with basketball courts (Clippers backboards) multiple playground sets, picnic tables, and a good walking perimeter.
Playground
Multiple playgrounds with age ranges.
Dog-friendliness
Dig friendly.
Picnic area
Many picnic areas.
This park has been a big part of my chidlhood. I grew up here playing soccer since 12 years old to celebrating parties. Until this date I'm 27 now and I just had my baby gender reveal last week there. Its gonna be a girl :). Can't wait to see her run in this park
This is a fantastic park. Its clean and super family friendly. There are open bathrooms that are kept up.The playground area is great. There are fun swings for all ages and a lot seating as well as a lot of cute places to take pictures of guy our kids have g fun!
Grass area is pitted with gulfer holes. You can literally watch dozens of gulfers popping up all over the place. Perhaps covid eliminated the maintenance. Otherwise, lots of things to do at park. Basketball, baseball, soccer and BBQ. There is also an indoor gym.
One of the most needed park and the City/County don't care on doing anything to keep the park at least with grass and level. Kids get hurt just running there. We need to get together and have the city reps kicked out of their positions. Worthless individuals.
Great place for children. Has mini water park.
Playground
Large area for children to play. Swings slides and mini water park.
Restrooms
Yes
Dog-friendliness
Enough space for dog walkers Dog friendly.
Picnic area
Large picnic area.
This is a nice, quiet park. Good place to have lunch at during the weekdays. You see many cute dogs over time. Nice for photo shoots, as well. Sometimes, we grab some food at Trader Joe's across the street and take it here for a picnic. Easy peasy …
Possibly the best park playground I have ever been to in my life. My two-year old could not decide what to do next. So many fun little options. We live in Santa Clarita but I will be driving back this way just to visit this park. Giggles guaranteed!
I was excited to take my daughter to the splash pad but it was filthy multiple dogs were in the water. The water is reused imagine all the germs the dogs have being poured onto the little kids. I thought the splash pad was for kids not animals!
Not a lot of shade for the playground. All the equipment is way too hot to touch during the day. They have a water pad but it's closed and there is no phone number to call to see when would they re open it. I guess they just want us to guess??
Great place for youth soccer. Families spending time together. Kids getting some exercise and having fun. Unfortunately, as you can see in the picture the fields are in very poor condition, possibly due to the drought and poor maintenance.
Great accessible playground. Wheelchair and sensory friendly design let's all kids be kids, and play together. Two play areas one for smaller kids and one for bigger. Both playgrounds are wheelchair accessible and there's also swings for
Amazing park, clean and enough shade if you having a gathering with friends or family. Only issue is Restrooms nowhere near . For someone diabetic who needs to rush like my mother…had to walk almost 500 yards to nearest restroom
The grass is horrible, good luck playing soccer there. It also gets really full from all the people practicing during the weekdays. Other than that it's a nice park with a great playground and ice cream for the little ones.
Good place to take the kids to run and be in the playground also the new sprinkler water park for the summer time. Refreshing and wet and not been hot in the summer. Plus kids like going there to play in the playground.
Local park, needs more shade over jungle gym. Slides often too hot to go down. Water park isn't open right now. Tables and benches are under shade and can see both play areas. Basketball court is well maintained
This is a pretty decent layed back park! I have been to about 5 birthday parties here in the past 3 years. Parking is always easy if you park on the street. The park is pretty clean. No headaches and good place
We're playing Sr. Volleyball every Wed from 10-12. We're having a blast! For the time being we're required to wear masks which is a little challenging. But it's good to be back with my volleyball friends! ♡
Fun park with a variety of facilities and play structures. It's relatively clean and it's quite spacious. It's popular on the weekends so parking is a bit more difficult compared to the weekdays. More
I was shocked to see how many people were here at this park, and not just for some party at the park, many families from diverse backgrounds were enjoy all the apparatuses. Such a great park to visit.
I like the park, very spacious and the park has basketball courts. They aren't the nicest but I would say they are average. The times I have gone there have never really been that many people there.
It is mid-big size park. Big glass ground and play ground, also there have baseball field. I only thing don't like it is lot of poof of dog.
Dog-friendliness
Please clean after your dog did.
Love it good place for kids they have for toddlers playground area and older playground and and picnic tables and lots of . The parking is small limited but you can park on the street …
Beautiful open park. 2 playgrounds. They have a water park too but it is closed for now. There's no covering/ shade for the playgrounds so be sure to put on sunblock on your little ones.
Writing this review on August 20th 2021, the splash pad is closed for the time being, wish I would have known before hyping the kids up to come here. Other than that, a great park.
Great park for toddlers. 2 separate play areas and park is usually kept really clean. Can get crowded and parking area is a little too small but plenty of parking around the park.
Been going to this park since I was in middle school. A very wide and quiet place to enjoy a snack or just hangout with your friends. One of my go to places to relax and have fun.
Playground equipment is always broken, splash pad has not worked in a year. Where is our tax dollars going?Because they are definitely not going to maintain our playgrounds.
Great park to do activities it has 3 baseball fields and space to play soccer. The have a big play ground for the kids to play. And people are nice they mind there buisness.
It is so much fun to come here!! Me and my friends throw the football and frisbee here all the time!! Its safe, and a clean location! Bring the family and friends here!!
Great park! Wonderful atmosphere! A bit of history with this park: the movie Bad New Bears w/ Walter Matthau was filmed here at the baseball diamond along Mason Avenue.
Lovely park and super fun splash pad for the little ones. I could barely drag my 4 year old granddaughter away. I'm happy to have found it and will definitely go back.
The park is always good however they've lithey've let the part go down a bit and I would assume it's because of the drought but it would be nice to have more greenery
Wide open park. A lot of shaded areas and during the summer having the kids play in the water park was great. Definitely a great park to picnic in as well!!
Nice park and not too crowded. They have a few park benches. There is also an ok looking play area for kids. This is a big park and it has a baseball field.
DO NOtT let your children go to the restroom alone !
Restrooms
Only women’s restroom is open so men are using it too! Extremely dirty and not safe.
Great little park, basketball courts and baseball field. Love walking the dog there but the locals don't think they have pickup after their own dogs.
Very cute park good amount of parking. I drove by during the week & I didn’t see the splash pad on but today Sunday 6/9/2019 the water was going!
Great park. Very well kept and green. People are nice. Great for families. Been this way since I went to high school in the area 15 yrs ago
Love mason Park been there for yrs such a great place for the whole family. Soccer games base ball splash pad etc. You can do so much there
Gorgeous all-inclusive park. As a parent of a special needs child, I loved that this park had accommodations for special needs kiddos. ❤️
A spacious and safe park. I saw fouls I have never seen before at any other Socal lake. I should've snapped a picture. I will be back!
Very big family park they have a section for babies and toddler as well as a jungle gym for older kids lots to do. Really nice park
This is a surprisingly spacious and well kept park. Very peaceful in the back, far from the main road. I could get to like it here.
Splash pad closed due to maintenance issues. I wish they would have posted it on the website. We drove so far so nothing.
It was really windy the day we went but our daughter really enjoyed the playground. The picnic tables are nice, too.
No water running on their water pod especially on 100 degrees weather. My grandkids were disappointed so we left.
I wasn't aware that kids are supposed to be playing in the playground. It's in a nice residential neighborhood.
Lots of room for the children to play restrooms of tidy And it's a very big park in a very safe location
Great park. There is lots of space in Mason Park for people to be here and enjoy the outdoor scenery.
Great place for all kids. Smaller play area for toddlers and bigger play area for 6-12 yrs.
Great park shout out to Oscar’s big time party rentals for the tables, jumper, and my canopy
A lot to do and lots of space for running around or just sitting and enjoying the weather.
Such a cool park. Never Drama! Always kids at play. Fun for the entire family ❤ …
Great large park for multiple sports. The recreation league is very inviting.
This is where the bad News bears was filmed playing baseball in 1976 and 77
They need to take better care of their grass, huge patches of bare dirt.
Excellent park to run, jog or just walk. Perfect place to relax.
The Park staff is awesome. Thank you Coach Mike and Coach Alex.
My daughter loved the park. Nice area and friendly people.
They didn't open the splash pad this summer. They suck!
Baseball field used in movie The Bad News Bears (1976)
Great playground kids love it. Kept very clean
It was nice, but it could use some fixing up.
Took my son to baseball practice ⚾️
It was okay. Not crowded.
