The architecture of this building is a hot mess. Always some kind of technical failure, during the winter their heating system partially failed (what a disgrace really) and the front door broke down. Barely enough computers, the ones remaining are painfully slow. Couldn’t even write a simple email as the website was crashing every other minute. Waiting for 5 minutes just to log in for a simple print is just embarrassing. Most tables don‘t have any electrical sockets to charge devices with. What do you think we use to do our work in 2019? Typewriters? During the exam time there is out-contracted security guards parading around the library like its a prison, noting everything down and looking very busy, but honestly it just looks like they‘re wasting time. The blinds are almost all faulty so most of them are shut permanently. If you open the windows, you can hear the kids screaming in the courtyard as the student council and their „Wellbeing“ Programme involves playing games there. Not enough law books (or ridiculously old ones) and borrowing for just a week is just embarrassing for 10.000£ in tuitions. This library is just a big disgrace to the University of London – everyone would be wiser to invest in education somewhere in continental Europe. Opening 24/7 doesn‘t help, I‘m not going to study at 4am.
Trying to study here is like actually being tortured. Finding a seat impossible, the lower floor may as well not exist as part of the library as it us absurdly noisy and always full of QMULs ever growing population of batty crease roadmen who are actually incapable of speaking at a normal level. The upper floors are not much better either unless you have unlimited laptop battery cos theres like 1 working power outlet per 100 students. Sort it QM
Always expect to leave this place with more frustration than progress. I have not been to a library where people have this little respect for rules. Large groups of disrespectful and loud kids are the norm. If you book a table, and find someone using it when you get there, expect them to roll their eyes at you when you very politely tell them you booked it. I'm glad I have more options now that the covid restrictions are lifted.
Went there as a UCL postgrad taught student for the first time, the receptionist refused to let me in as a visitor, and asked me to register an online form and wait few days until I get their approval. I checked UCL website for other libraries available to UCL users. It says that (UCL undergraduates and taught postgraduates are automatically eligible to apply for one free day of reference access from QMUL Libraries
The worst library I've ever been too. I love spending nights in libraries but this library may be the only one that I have never used to it's full potential because theres never a seating place and silent study does not have working power sockets so I can charge my phone. Study rooms are impossible to book at times you want
Library manager unwilling to show fee paying students the benefit of the doubt, unsupportive of helping students reach their potential
Worst library I've been to. Groups of loud kids come here to chat instead of study. Furniture are so old and dusty.
I spent may days and nights at this library. Some of my best times spend in and around this library.
For students only, for students from other unis only a one day pass per year...
TIme time showing is open till 12 mid night but actually closed at 7:30 PM
Unjustifiable Complicated navigation in the middle of the campus.
The library has a great collection of books fr various sections.
Great place to do work. Normally quite hard to find good seats.
not a public library. should have its university in its name.
Estupendo sitio para programar o estudiar tranquilo
Good place to study!
like a second home
