"Very nicely done smaller museum"
Very wa eager staff it gives a timeline explanation I. Yelling the story of the immigration of Jews into Southern America. Very interesting stories and somE cool artefact’s: like a wedding dress, photos, reproductions of letters and a peddler’s wagon. It gives a clear explanation of how people came with nothing and went from house to house selling and bartering and eventually becoming household names. Many Jews became mayors and sheriffs of their communities. A cute Jewish knowledge interactive game for kids. Interesting. You only need an hour - hour and a half unless you love to read every single word ( like my husband.). An informative little movie starts the journey with people from all over the south telling their stories they have sone very cute and cool things in their gift shop l Like mezuzahs and t shirts and other things. Jimmy gives a great tour with very entertaining stories
Ran across town to arrive at 4.15 before it closes at 5pm. Final day of our honeymoon over from Europe. Was told they do not people in after 4pm as it requires “minimum 1 hr”. However, All the other reviews say you need max 60mins and we timed our day around this. Have found nowhere else in the South to learn more about our heritage in this part of the world, massively disappointed. Really silly policy, not signposted at museum or anywhere easily accessible on opening main page of website. Please consider reviewing your approach!
Wow. I can’t say enough good things about the museum of the southern Jewish experience. It was incredibly thoughtful and well done. Not only was there tons of history but they were open about the past (some southern Jews owned slaves). I loved the interactive portions listening to stories and learning about the rituals. Anyone who wants to learn more about other cultures I highly recommend

This new museum (opened May 2021) is a great addition to the arts warehouse district. They have a perfect little theater where they show an original film about the Southern Jewish experience on a wraparound screen. There’s two floors of exhibits with photos, artifacts and interactive activities. Learned a lot, had fun. Docent pointed out some especially interesting stuff and told us stories about some of the characters and history of Jews in the South. Spin a dreidel in the gift shop to get a discount!
Very nicely done smaller museum. We would love if they had more in the gift shop but understand this is a smaller operation. That being said the exhibits were informative and well thought out. Would recommend to all of those looking to enrich their understanding of Jewish life in the south.

Had an interesting visit to the museum. Found out about many facts I did not know of, which I found interesting. Jim, a volunteer in the museum, explained a lot and shared his knowledge, making the visit much better! The museum is well designed and very easy to go through.

They used the space well and have attractive and informative exhibits with the best interactives out all the museums I've ever been to. Minor detail, but I very much dislike timelines, but theirs is really spot on, putting the Southern Jewish experience in context.

I had such a great time visiting the museum. Beautiful history and diverse stories of Jews from all over America and the unique history of the south, and Jewish immigration. Love the interactives, the architecture, mezuzah wall, and the collection!
