I've shopped at the Oak Grove Grocery on the average of at least once a week for the last 30 years, ever since I moved into the neighborhood. I appreciate it being in walking distance for me, it's wide variety of products (just ask if don't see an item, they maybe able to stock it in the future) and it's friendly and congenial staff. Their prices are higher, but I'm sure they have to pay more for their stock than large supermarkets, who can buy in bulk. The building in which they are located was built in 1918 and it is my understanding that the grocery store came into existence shortly thereafter. So here's wishing the Oak Grove Grocery a Happy 100th Year Anniversary ! You give, and are a great service to the surrounding neighborhood !
Moved a few months ago right next to this place and was super excited because I much prefer a small business taking my $$$ than a mega corporation like Target. They are a small grocery store so they don't have everything but they are great for grabbing some frozen foods, snacks, drinks, and cigarettes plus they have some odds and ends like incense and tools. The older gentleman that is always the only one I see working here is very chill and polite. Thanks for being nearby when I need bread or milk and for being there when there is a blizzard and everything is closed down because I am the worst at being prepared for snow weather and groceries
We like to support local businesses and have been a regular costumer for a year but will not go back. I called to check on a product, walked over the store and they guy didn’t let me in as he closed 3-4 minutes earlier than their stated closing time which is 7:30. So I just wasted my time walking there while I could drive to a store instead. It is not courteous to close on customer prior to the closing time. He could have also informed me about his early closing time while I talked to him right before I walked there!
Great service provided to the Loring Park neighborhood. Friendly workers that are very helpful when you can’t find an item or need change! My only complaint would be the prices are somewhat higher compared to big box stores but I know the owners don't have much control over that. Despite the small size, this store has a great selection of items and I (almost, always) come home with something extra. I hope they open up soon after the stay-at-home order ends!
This is the most convenient store ever. They somehow have at least one of everything. Really, whenever I randomly need something at a random time, they have it. There aren’t many places like this in Minneapolis. This is very NYC or Chicago. I’m happy to live near it. Prices are absolutely worth the convenience. The staff is wonderful. Personable and friendly!
The OGG reflects its neighborhood. You'll see a real cross section of regulars and it's both friendly and convenient. When I lived in the neighborhood, I used to go there all the time. While Bonnie and Mark are no longer ringing up your groceries, you'll still find a charming cast of characters working there.
Yes - this place can definitely be pricy as the other reviews state - but it's a unique grocery store that has a bodega-esque vibe, interesting employees, and is hella convenient since I don't have a car and it's down the street. A wide variety of products; A+ snacks options.
4/5. What would make this a 5 out of 5 for me is if they carried a selection of raw chicken tenders and ground beef. More healthy food less junk food. This is not me complaining of course it is convenient however there is a more junk food than healthy options
I've been in the neighborhood for several years, and this darling place never fails to provide. It's lovely, it's convenient, and the people here deserve several glowing gold stars for how marvelous and welcoming they are. Do visit if you can.
True hidden gem. Prices can be a tad bit higher than what you would find at say, Cub or something. But in return you get incredible convenience and amazingly warm staff. I love stopping in here whether it's for dinner supplies or snacks.
Great corner store (not in a corner though) with the perfect variety. Not for your full grocery list, but great for filling in the things you want throughout the week that come up unexpectedly.
It's a wonderful little store! The staff are really cool. They'll take the time to talk to you. The prices are high but they have a unique and wide selection of stuff. Highly recommended...
We love our Oak Grove Grocer! Great selection for a neighborhood grocer worth every cent of the convenience cost. The people are friendly and I've yet to go there and find them closed.
best corner store in minneapolis! glad to have them near my apartment, very convenient when i just need to pick up a few things and don't want to go on a whole grocery run.
I have lived in the area for 12 yrs. And the store is great for that missing item you need right now. The staff is very interesting to say the least. However it is needed.
This place is a life saver! It reminds me of a NYC bodega in the best way. They seem to have whatever odd thing I suddenly need at a random time and in bad weather.
My best friend used to live in the building next door to this little neighborhood market, so I have many fond memories of stopping there for soda and gummi bears.
Lots of good deals. Go here for lunch, grab some groceries. Check out is always a little slow at lunch. I love having the option for all the different foods.
Very clean and excellent prices. Masks are required!! Staff was excellent and very helpful plus friendly!!! I would definitely go back there again!!!
Very friendly local and convenient. Nice people who say "Hi", even if your just walking by on the street. Great to have a place like this nearby.
It's a decently small shop with a funny smell to it and the prices are a tad high, but if you're looking for convenience then this is the place
Friendly, small town vibes for a corner store in the city. Yeah it's got bodega pricing but if you live in Oak Grove it's more than worth it.
Me and my good friend went there couple weeks ago first time. We called ahead for item, they had it waiting for us when we arrived.
Great small, local grocer when in a pinch. A bit pricey, but the convenience can be worth it and the staff is always very friendly.
Quaint little grocery. Very convenient, hence the prices but they're really not that bad. Friendly helpful staff too.
Nice little convenience store, a good spot to go when you need something quick and easy
A great small convenience store, locally owned! They have all the basic groceries here.
A neighborhood gem! Convenient and well stocked. Plus it has a lot of charm.
It's a nice store that has everything n anything you need !!
Expensive, but they have the basic essentials.
