"Got a puncture on the way into town and luckily stumbled across PK cycles whilst wheeling my bike to work"
I really don't like leaving bad reviews but feel like others should be warned. After frequenting this shop a number of times to have punctures repaired ect, needed to have a rear wheel replaced. Gentleman said he would fit a shimano wheel that 'was better than the wheels you have on it' for €140. First off, he didn't index the gears correctly, which led me to come off the bike, as the rear shifter sent the chain straight into the spokes of the new rear wheel on my first day cycling since it was fixed. Brought It back to the shop where the lady initially tried to blame the out of line shifter on me, asking 'where do you park this, do you try and squeeze it in between other bikes?'. She said the rear shifter was bent, which was why it was out of line. I informed her that i had asked her colleage when I collected the bike of there was anything else on the bike that needed fixing/maintenance, and he had said that I should think about replacing my chain in a few months, but other than that it was good to go. Not to mention that the rear shifting had always been perfect on the bike. She 'fixed' the gears and agreed to place a plastic spoke protector beside the wheel, like my last wheel had, for my peace of mind. Collect the bike the next day and the gentleman fetches my bike, and then says 'oh i see your spoke protector is broken', and shows me where the spoke protector was half split down the middle, just behind the shifter. When I said that I had asked his colleague to fit that, and that it must be new, he just replied 'well its broken' and took it off. Fast forward two weeks and I see the rear wheel isn't running true. Bring it into a bike shop beside work and he tells me that all the spokes on one side of the wheel were very loose, probably never tightened. Oh and also it wasn't a shimano wheel, it was Wilkinson, not nearly as good as the bontrager wheel on the bike originally, and shouldn't have been fitted for more than €80, at a push. Was so shocked I brought the bike to one of the trek dealers in town to replace the break pads just to ask him, and he told me the exact same thing. Also checked the chain with a chain tool and ruler and said it was so worn it had worn my sprocket. Summary: Charged 140€ for a €80 (Max) wheel, didn't index gears or true the wheel. This shop is good for puncture repairs etc, but don't dare getting anything bigger done.
I don't want to write something to long, but this lady ripped me off completely .. I went into the shop looking for a bike for my hubby and she showed me the new and second hand. My hubby seen one that he loved in great condition but it had no price and she told us the bike was worth €700 up and she would give me a good price of €350 with free lights for the back and half price on the lock.. so we buy the bike and funny thing is that I love checking online and normally in Ireland you don't get deals like that there and then. So i look up the bike only and in the Carrickmines shop the bike is there for sale at €190 brand new.. so ye SHE IS A RIP OFF just want to let you all know and I always learn from my mistakes.. she was so nice to me asking where I was from.. we told her we had no clue of bikes... and she just did that... I legally got into the contract and accepted her offer.. never again...
Sorry about the late Post, Finally finished getting my bike ready for the Winter with New brake disc's and Tire's. I purchased a set of (Shcwalbie Smart Sam plus) tire's from PK CYCLE'S on Patrick Sreet for the Decent price of €100. I decided to fit them myself..."BIG MISTAKE!!!"...it took me an embarrassing 2hour's to get them on the Rim's after much Pleading and Swearing Thanks to the Lovely Store Keeper Pauline for all the help and advice. Looking forward to doing more purchases in the future. P,S...DON'T BE TOO PROUD OR AFRAID TO GO BACK AND ASK FOR HELP LIKE THIS STUBERN OLD .
Very disappointed with the customer service. The owner failed to honour the advertised rate on the website of €20 for a tube and tyre replacement (tried to charge me €30 and eventually charged me €28). I even showed her the ad on the website and she claimed it was for a different business (same sign, address and website, unbelievable!) After I brought her attention to this, i got the impression she just wanted me to leave. Ridiculous way to treat customers and operate a business.
Got a puncture on the way into town and luckily stumbled across PK cycles whilst wheeling my bike to work. As well as a new tube, I needed replacement tyres and brake pads as they were very well worn. They were super helpful and fair with the work detailed. They took my bike and had it repaired within a few hours, and even cleaned it for me on top for free which was lovely. Super service and very friendly lady, will definitely return in the future. Thank you!
My husband and I are on a bicycle tour and Pauline, the owner of PK Cycles got one of our bikes in right away and up and running. She is an incredible mechanic and the Work done to our bicycle and customer service was amazing! She has a nice selection of high visibility accessories, locks, fenders, etc. thank you for taking such good care of us. Oh, and she can recommend the best fish and chips in Dublin!
PKC cycles is a GEM in Dublin 8.The owner Pauline repairs bicycles with skill and easy I have rarely seen. She always suggests repair rather than replace if she can resulting in lower cost for user and great for environment as well. The shop is stocked with great selection and having purchased 2 great bikes there I have never been disappointed by the service and great cycle advice from Pauline!
Fixed my bike here once and I came again for the staff professionalism in repairs even though are womens and affordable price too. One complain though: please remove from google timetable on Friday till 6pm if you close earlier. I've walked 1hour to your place to leave my bike for fix and take it next day, arrived at your shop at 5:10pm but was already closed despite timetable shown.
Pauline has saved me a few times: Flat tyre? Pumped it up for me. Sold me a pump. Going down again the next day? Replaced with a new one while I wait. Handlebars loose? Tightened with good humour, and no charge. Lovely people, great service, good sense of humour. Impressive range of bikes and accessories also. Will be back!
Nicest bicycle repair shop I’ve come across! Huge stock of tires (and used bicycles!) and fortunately also the rare size for our Dahon 7 speed folding bike. Pauline fixed it in a jiffy and gave the brakes a complimentary lube job. Our vacation was saved! We had good laughs and left with a happy feeling.
I have been a P&K Cycle's happy customer for more than 4 years. They provide quality products and excellent services. Pauline is very professional and always is willing to fix your bike issue as quickly as possible for a reasonable price. I'd definitely recommend P&K Cycles shop to everyone!
I've been to at least 4 bike shops in town. Some are dishonest, some are pricey, some are rude. Here at Pk cycles I felt welcomed, the staff was super friendly and stopped everything he was doing to listen to me. In the end, the price came as a surprise, very affordable. Recommend!!!
Highly recommend, dropped in to fix a puncture and Pauline discovered my brake pads were in bits and fixed it all on the spot! Amazing service, quick, reasonable and highly skilled. She’s so knowledgable and really friendly. I’ll be coming back and recommending her to everyone I can!
I had an amazing experience there. My bike was completely rusty due to the rain, tires were empty, she (the bike is a girl) looked so tired, but now she’s sparkling. The whole package of all the services done were made in just one afternoon. They have a new permanent client.
The lady (Pauline?) is lovely and she set up my bike super fast and was just sound. Just updating this. Third time I've been here and they're easily the most hassle free, nice and chill bunch. Best bike shop in Dublin and I've been cycling here for almost a week ten years.
great little shop. very quick turnaround and great value. always do a little bit extra when getting a service like giving the bike a clean or replacing brake pads. can't recommend enough, very lucky to have them as my local bike shop!
I've been to pk cycles a few times. All repairs are done quickly. Got my bike back today from pk cycles and it feels like a new bike. Staff are sound, know their stuff and are very competitive in price. Highly recommended
Had an emergency mechanical on Patrick St. Thanks very much to Mick who stopped what he was doing and made an emergency repair. He also refused to take any money. I will be back to do some business there. Thanks again.
Stopped in here as I was looking around different shops and I won’t be going to a different bike shop ever again, both girls working were nothing but nice and helped me pick out a great bike Great shop …
Thank you the professional ladies at P&K cycles who got me, my punctured cargo bike & cargo back on the road today & quicker than a Formula 1 pit stop. Very grateful and will be back to support again in future.
PK Cycles is my first port of call for bicycle repairs. The service is quick, the prices are fair and the staff are friendly and honest. It great to have a traditional bike shop in the city that you can trust.
Delighted to have gone here for bike needs. Super helpful, knowledgeable, lots of stock and range, friendly and gave me a deal for the things I bought. Lovely staff. Definitely be back. Perfect …
Pauline was wonderful and had my tyre and tube replaced in a few minutes as well having a great chat while doing it! Can't recommend her highly enough!
The folks in the store are really friendly and very helpful. My bike was repaired and service within a few hours. Reasonably priced also. I'll be back.
Lovely staff I feel welcomed there... They make full check and service on my bike before season...Bike ride like rocket whole season no issues.
THE WORST SERVICE I COULD GET, I WOULDENT PREFER THIS TO ANYONE....IF ITS REPAIR OR MAINTANCE DONT LEAVE YOUR BIKE ......STRONGLY AVOID !!!!!
penny pinching and failed to honor a deal posted on their website. I think most reviews are from the owners friends. Dont bother.
Crew are lovely there but this is 4 time that I tried to leave my bike and they don't open before 10 am and close before 6 pm.
Fantastic service - fast, friendly, efficient and they even cleaned the rust off! Bike is good as new. Definitely recommend.
Its always closed. They don't honour the time frames they have published everywhere. Fix that and i will remove my review.
I bought my bicycle more than 2 years ago there, and they are very helpful every time I have done problem.
Very quick and efficient service. Amazing quality for a fair price. That's The Power of 2 beautiful women.
