This review is specifically for the location on Sports Arena Blvd in San Diego. This particular store is a special case because of the location and the issues they have are not necessarily typical of all locations. That being said, The products and selection of items are typical of other Ross stores with normal hours of operation. The challenge they face with the close proximity to Old Town MTS Station and the homeless epidemic plaguing southern California ef4xacerbates their struggle with the rampant shoplifting that occurs there from open to close on a daily basis. You may be thinking to yourself, "Big deal. If people steal something from this store, it's not my problem. I just need a 7 dollar T-shirt and some socks." Normally it isn't going to have enough of an impact on the company to change policy's but at this one be prepared to be welcomed by a security guard who will ask you to put any backpack or bag on the floor with nothing stopping anyone from casually walking up and taking it. The security guards are not paid to remember who's bag is who's and Ross would claim no responsibility to pay for the theft of your bag and anything inside of it. We have a plastic bag ban and are encouraged to bring our own bags to carry purchases home with or pay a 10 cent fee which I hope goes toward helping with the problems these bags create. If lockers were available I think people who aren't shoplifters, and really did bring a bag for its intended purpose of carrying things, would feel less insulted than by having a security guard ordering them to leave their belongings on the floor, ironically with no security or assurance that it would be there when you return. Once you get over that hurdle and begin to look at what they have to sell be prepared to be welcomed by the employees with suspicion as they make it very clear that they expect you to steal something at any moment. Granted most times I am there I see people that I am sure are stealing or have actually seen trying to conceal items in one way or another. While I understand the need for such vigilance in protecting your employers from the loss of profit due to shrinkage, I still can't ignore the part of me that hates being suspected/accused of doing something that I was not guilty of. I feel sympathy for the employees who are burdened by this situation as I also feel for the people living on the streets due to whatever reason they lost everything. But there needs to be a way for customers to be treated with hospitality rather than annoyance, suspicion, and even blatant disgust.

I.walked into the store and was supposedly greeted by security and I didn't say hi apparently and so he automatically gave a red flag I was there to steal I didn't realize their actions until two employees folleme to the isle we're I window shopping for a luggage with I then realized they had been following me the whole time I was approached and asked how I was doing and I told her my day and then she said ok hope yr day goes better I then proceeded to the entrance anscoand and confronted the security telling him wat he did time and I was apItime wholestore

Ross still has deals on clothing and a wide array of products anything from electronics to work out equipment in a nutshell they have things that I didn't even know existed. The snacks a seller actually delicious however the line to check out was roughly around half an hour the shoe prices aren't that great the store is always a mess.

This store sells nothing but garbage clothing. Most of the clothes that are supposed to be brand names. Are substandard clothing. Not like clothing you buy from real manufacturers. Everything I got labeled Nautica clothing is thinner material than from real manufacturer. You buy garbage, and that is what you get. Ross garbage.

This store always has something I want! Really enjoy this place for the variety. Love getting lost in the housewares dept. Not to mention great bedding prices. And, you're always greeted with a nice welcome and and a smile. That's my favorite part!

I bought a couple pair of pants and was helped at the dressing rooms entrance by a very nice female employee. We joked about the state of my current pair of pants, and I lucked out and bought both pair, as they fit and were comfortable.

Snazzy! Six kinds of snazzy, wrapped in pita bread. Too a minute to find what I was looking. Because I hadn't been in this Ross before. Oh, watch out for Space Monkey's in the parking lot. They were flanking us from the east today.

Especially good deals on things for the kitchen- you just gotta be willing to pick through the shelves and find the treasures. Also my go-to for when I'm invited to a Baby Shower- lots of cute stuff @ a fraction of Target's prices.

The store opens early which I like. It was nice and clean. Big selection of shoes. But I do hope they get more plus size tops. I bought these funny socks their for a niece very affordable at $4.99 original price $14.99.

Literally the worst customer service of all time. Spent $1,400 in store and was told the shopping cart could not go out the door. Zero help offered; zero f’s given by the staff. Totally rude and unappreciative.

  • Vasily Dmitrievsky

Well organized store with good prices for branded items. The store is located in a convenient place with lots of parking. AC works well so on a warm day you can cool off while doing some shopping.

My wife lives this place. We go to ross everywhere we travel hawaii, Puerto Rico, san diego, Florida keys. We always buy something because they always have great deals no matter where you are

Overcrowded isles one cart wide! Two people can't pass each other. The clothes rub on the cart on both sides as you force your way through. Terrible. Walked out without making a purchase.

Short on checkout people. Rediculous wait to cash out. You would think that closing the deal is when I pay, not when I give up and leave my merchandise with the Ghirardelli Chocolates!!!

  • Melissa Zapata

Most all of the men's jeans were skinny jeans and not very many sizes. I purchased 300 dollars worth of clothes and none of the staff seemed to want to ring me up.

Another great retail store with lots of great deals. We even ended up with some toys for kids, umbrella for myself and much more articles. Enjoy your visit …

The line is ridiculous, They really need to open up more registers . Other than that they always have something you didn't know you needed.

It is a good Ross. Employee who rang us was a bit rude. But overall, I was happy with my purchases.

  • Steven Heath

Disorganized and only two cashiers with LONG line. Do yourself a favor and skip shopping here.
