I came here to sit on a John while having a drink and I did. This is a Cash only bar but there is an ATM inside if you don’t have cash. Also, there isn’t any specialty drink because it’s a Dive bar. I recommend for the New Orleans interesting places to and/or if you just into seating on a John instead of a seat/chair!
If you are looking for a dive bar with great drinks and a wonderful staff, this is the place for you. Yes, it is a toilet themed bar, don't worry though the decor is tasteful as it can be. The drinks are strong, and inexpensive. A wonderful place to either start your night or end it.
You really need to see this place for yourself. Some of New Orleans best bartenders work here it is an entity of its own. Totally locals haunt and after midnight to 6 a.m. you're going to see all the bartender's, waiters, dancers cabbies etc that served you all night long!
I really enjoyed my time at The John. It's somewhat low key on the outside but lively within. The staff were kind, professional, and upbeat. I felt safe, which is a big deal for me and my sister. We've now been there thrice. Enjoy! By the way, you get a lot for your money.
So, the only reason I go here, is because my friend likes it. The place has no personality. Only the black bartender is interesting. I think the rest could care less about living and working in the place. They have soap in a cup. The patrons are friendly enough.
One of my favorite dive bars in New Orleans. The pours are great and the bartenders are laid back. Security guard at the door is a bit of a stiff but he's only doing his job really, specially since the age to enter is 25. Once you're inside
The staff at St. John are extreme rude. I could only believe it was because my friends and I are black as the other patrons received a different treatment. The place wasn't even crowded that night, but I stood at the bar for quite some time
This is such a great place with great and strong drinks for a great price! Found this place 3 years ago and every time I come back to New Orleans I must go back! If you like a hole in the wall with cheap drinks you must go!!! Cash only! More
Toilet theme in the front, ping pong in the back. Friendly bartenders and a connected jukebox are definite highlights. Drinks were well priced and strong. A nice, big space with room to spread out. We stopped in as it was only a block from
I traveled to this side of the city because it was one of the only places with a ping pong table. I just wanted to play some ping pong and drink a few beers. The admission age is 25 years old. I am 24 and they wouldn’t let me in. This is
A toilet themed dive bar, yes please! We stumbled across this fine little joint on our walk home one night. We decided to stop in for one last drink and ended up saying out the whole night! Now, I'm not sure why the minimum age to enter
Our "Free Tours By Foot" tour guide brought us here as a rest stop and explained this bar is named "The John" because it's open during the day and most of it's visitors just go to use the facilities- pretty cheeky! Clean bathrooms, very
I was told (not sure if it is accurate) that as of 1-30-2023 NOPD is monitoring The John 24 Hours with Video surveillance with Facial Recognition Software. This should help protect both the good Patrons of The John and the Neighborhood.
A fun atmosphere with lots of seating and pool tables about. With cool decorations like album covers and retro bar stools. They could use more New Orleans music artists and the album decor though …
The strongest drinks in New Orleans! I love this place. It has a very rustic feel about it and literally have little toilets as seats lol. They have regular seating as well. Great music and atmosphere!
It's a decent bar but all your song will get skipped so don't spend money on the jukebox and their no refund so touch tunes is a no no in this place cause you'll lose money trying to enjoy yourself.
This place caters to especially insecure men who terrorize the surrounding neighborhood with their loud over-compensating cars every night. Appropriate name for that bar considering the clientele
A local fav. The drinks were stong and on the cheaper side. Value for money 100% . Its a nice place to get buzzed... and it is not trying to be anything it is not! More
The Cadillac Margarita was the drink suggested to me. I kid you not, it was the truth. The service was great. I would definitely recommend this spot.
The John is a large bar that is extremely dark and gloomy. The bartender was very professional and engaged and did a great job with the beverages.
Enjoyed the atmosphere. Very low-key bar that is open 24 hours. Bartenders are very friendly and will make suggestions for live music and food.
The bartender is friendly and knowledgeable of the history of the area and very entertaining
