I'm a born and bred Kiwi from Dunedin. I've been living in Japan now for over 33 years. I was here when the big quake hit back in 2011 and the Fukushima nuke plant went into meltdown...The Swiss embassy sent free air tickets to their nationals to fly out; as did other embassies for their people. What did good ole NZ do for us? They sent us each an iodine tablet and told us to take it if the radiation got too high...LOL Good ole NZ...She'll be right...Bit of 4x2, some number 8 wire, an iodine tablet..and ahhh... Tune in to the Japanese emergency broadcasts and just do whatever they tell you to, alright? Okay... I'm tired of driving trucks and working six day weeks here. I think you should appoint me as your new ambassador to Japan since I probably know a hell of a lot more about life in Japan for ex-pat Kiwis than anyone on your staff. The ups, the downs, who to avoid, who you can trust, the pitfalls, the scams, the cost of living, where to get freebies and a lot more. The novelty of living in Japan wore off for me a long time ago. I know more about living here than any of your cloistered staffers fresh over from Wellington...I'd also make a pretty good tour guide or fixer...So, in my best Yosser Hughs voice*..."Giz a job!"

ニュージーランド大使館よりお招きいただきお伺いいたしました。 喧噪な住宅街に静かに佇む、素敵な空間。 美しく整った庭に、白を基調とした建物が素晴らしかったです。 大使館専属のシェフが作られた、様々なニュージーランド料理を頂きましたが、 中でも羊肉のラムチョップが非常に美味しかったです。

ニュージーランド人との結婚について電話で聞いたが、受付の日本人女性は大変不親切、ウエッブサイトが英語、日本語はないので分かりにくいと言ったら、”NZだから英語”と言われ、日本にある大使館で日本人がヘルプが必要なのに始め教えてもらえなかった。態度悪すぎ。
