Visited this place for the first time yesterday. The parking garage was convenient, but the signage near the stairs could have been clearer. I initially went downstairs but realized it was the wrong way. Thankfully, I found other moviegoers who directed me to go all the way up the stairs, which led to the right entrance. At the rooftop, I couldn't immediately spot the movie theater area, but following other patrons, I eventually found my way. Before entering the theater, there was no one checking tickets, but they did verify them while ordering food and drinks. I tried their watermelon mezcal margarita, and it was surprisingly delicious. However, the mozzarella sticks were disappointing—the sauce had an unpleasant taste, and the sticks were cold. Once in the theater, I chose a seat on the second row. Unfortunately, either my row didn't have reclining seats or I couldn't locate the button for it. It made the movie experience less comfortable. Though the overall experience had some drawbacks, the beautiful Barbie Photo Booth was a nice touch, and I managed to take a few pictures. Considering the experience, I might give this place another chance, perhaps on a discounted ticket day.
The service sucked. From the moment we walked in, the man at the ticket booth was mediocre at best and rude. They overlooked our row several times which is ironic since we were sitting at the very front and center of the movie theater, before I had to flag one of the servers to at least get some drinks as the move was already about 20 min in and they hadn't even taken our sheet or even brought a drink out to us. The movie theater itself was so fun. The movie was good. Some of the servers bringing out the food were amazing, even going so low to not disturb the movie watchers they seemed almost ninja style typed serving. If not for the man, we had to buy the ticket from and the lack or service for the first half of the movie, I would have given this place a higher star rating since the popcorn was good, and the vegan chocolate chip cookie was ok. It's a little burnt but still tasty. Overall, this place needs some work to get up to the amazing place to visit rating however it Def. Has potential.
Never again ! Chairs were not comfortable, service was so-so. Food was ok but beyond any of that …. Any business that dictates to me what I should tip at is a big fat No Go for me ! Your entire business model is such that food is served while you watch the movie. Therefore a MANDATED 18% “service charge” should NOT be even a consideration for you. So now not only are you forcing a TIP but because it’s a service charge there is tax on top of that. I will never support a business that mandates and determines what I should tip. I am an excellent tipper. But TIPS stand for To Insure Prompt Service. I tip accordingly and this culture of its automatically deserving is a symptom of the entitlement mentality that this next generation is unfortunately trying to thrust upon us and all it will do is grow more and more lazy people!
Alamo Drafthouse in San Antonio is an exceptional venue for both entertainment and professional events. My recent experience there was outstanding, particularly when we rented a theater for a work training session. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring our event ran smoothly. The accommodations were excellent, perfectly suited for our professional needs while also providing a unique and enjoyable atmosphere. Additionally, the food deserves a special mention – it was delicious, with a great variety of options to suit everyone’s taste. Overall, Alamo Drafthouse in San Antonio offers a fantastic combination of great service, excellent food, and versatile facilities, making it an ideal choice for both leisure and professional gatherings.
It was a sad experience. We went to a 12:15 showing. The waitress was the only server for multiple theaters and for most of the movie she didn't have any expediters, so the service was slow. I ordered a 7 dollar hot chocolate it was luke warm so the marshmallows didn't melt and it was cheap package hot chocolate, not good at all. The table was sticky; I asked for something to wipe it with and the waitress never brought it. There were no menus in the whole row, that was annoying but you can easily look it up; and we did so we could see the seasonal menu. I understand that times are tough in the movie theater world rn. But, that was the worst service I have ever received in an Alamo Drafthouse. It really stuck with me.
Done with Drafthouse, sadly. I've been a supporter for more than a decade, and up until covid we were even Victory members. But in the last year or so, they've massively jacked up the food and drink prices, and now they impose a forced 18% tip that they call a "service charge". I'm more than happy to tip 20% for good food and service, which they've always had, but forced tipping isn't right. It's in poor taste, and it bothers me. Also... Why aren't you playing "Sound of Freedom"? I can only think of one reason why you wouldn't, and it's deeply disappointing. Sorry guys, you lost us. Hope your new management can sort out the issues before you go chapter 11 for good this time. Go WOKE, go BROKE.
The Alamo Drafthouse: where movies meet munchies in a seriously silent showdown. Attempting to enjoy a film without their strict no-talking policy is like trying to sneak a giraffe into a phone booth – not recommended. On the bright side, if your date won't stop chomping on popcorn, at least you can order a burger that's bigger than your cinematic dreams. Just be prepared to dodge incoming fries during the intense action scenes. It's like a gastronomic rollercoaster, and yes, I spilled my soda when the plot took an unexpected twist. Five stars for keeping movies sacred, one spilled soda for unexpected plot twists, and zero tolerance for loud popcorn chewers.
My wife and I arrived 15 minutes late to the theater. As we were walking down the hallway to our seats, an employee stopped us, stating that we couldn't go in if we were late because it would be distracting, as they were carrying food and drinks. I asked, "How long is the food bar open?" The employee responded, "For another hour and a half." I then questioned, "Wouldn't that be more distracting than us just taking our seats or even ordering food?" The employee replied, "That's our policy." Absolutely no sense is made with that policy. Change that and tell your employees what we can or can’t do. Never stepping foot in that broke down of a theater.
I absolutely love this theater. It’s always a joy to get to come here and try new milkshakes and enjoy the chicken tenders as a treat! I will say, while it likely isn’t on Alamo Drafthouse, I dislike that the escalator seems to be broken every single time I go there. I also think that it can be a bit annoying when people are ordering and the waiter is blocking the screen, however, if you can overlook that it continues to be one of my favorite places to see the movies. Try their exclusive menu items for the movies while you can! When you go to one of their advanced screenings or their movie parties, it’s always a blast.
Horrible customer service from the white British man at the front desk. We wouldn’t have been late if he wouldn’t answered a really long phone call before letting us purchase tickets. Making up policies about entering the theater late when people and waitresses are constantly coming in and out of the theater during the movie. I’ve been to other ADH before and it’s been a good experience but there’s no point to come here when people like him are working in the front desk.
I attended an event held here yesterday for my brokerage and had the pleasure of presenting. I would have never thought this would be a good setting for an event, but I’m happy to say that it was. The seating was perfect. The audio and visual were great. I loved that we were able to place food and drink orders during the event which ran from 9-4. If you’re looking for a neat venue to host your next event, I highly recommend giving Alamo Drafthouse a shot.
Recently watched the Nun 2 here. Good food, great service! The fried pickles here are some of the best I've had. Would like to see an update in the chairs as they're not the most comfortable. Would also like to see the tables shown on all apps. We use Fandango and the tables are not shown where they are located. Therefore, my bf and I were not able to share a table. Maybe they are shown on different apps? Not sure!
The experience was amazing I loved almost every aspect of the Alamo draft house! The food was on point and delivered to your seat hot! The mixed drinks were STRONG... A little too strong for taste, but shoot! Not complaining!! Lol! The only thing that sucked was the movie!! The nun 2!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND! perfect place for a date night!! Be sure to bring extra $$$... Food and drinks can be a bit pricey!
Alamo Drafthouse is always a great theater to watch movies. Being waited on while watching movies is a big plus for me. Drinks are good and everything I have tried off the menu have been great. Their premovie montage is worth getting to theater early for as they find old video clips that relate to movie your about to watch. Just a great time at movies at this place.
Always a great time at the Drafthouse! The food is always hot and fresh (except the things that are supposed to be cold and fresh), the cocktails are unique and delicious, especially the boozy shakes. The service is fast and friendly without disturbing the movie, and the atmosphere is great! The rule to be quiet and put away your phone keeps me coming back!
I have been going to Alamo Draft house for about 15 years and each time the movie/dining experience is great. Service is quick, very friendly staff and the food is really good and even movie specials on foods/drinks make it interesting. Only thing I don't approve is charging the customer 18% gratuity on all tabs even though I would usually tip my waitress
Overall the theater is clean, the staff and service was great. The only thing I guess my spoiled butt didn't like was that the seats don't recline, nor can you put your feet up. After shopping and walking, going to enjoy a snack and movie it's what you'd expect to be able to do, relax. A little hard to do with upright chairs.
This was an interesting experience. Im giving it a 4 only because it was hard to find. If is your first time leave with ample time to find it. Yes parking in the garage is probably the closest way to get to it. Not bad service. I could no see my food in the dark. I just had to trust it looked good.
Love coming here, food is great, staff is amazing…Matt and Maria are super duper, thank you for your patience…best place to enjoy a movie with a little more pizazz than popcorn and a slushy…love the grilled chicken sandwich and my children always get pizza and a shake….
We came to see Ballard of the songbird the new hunger games. I enjoyed the movie and the food. I had the Alamo bowl that had quinoa, sweet potatoes, avocado, left greens and more. The wings were also great!! Of course there is a large beer selection.
The theater is very attentive. When we were looking for a spot to release my friend's documentary, every one had their restrictions. Alamo Drafthouse really catered to us and our guests and made the private screening so friendly! Definitely recommend
Clean! I am usually anxious about movie theaters having sticky floors or something will crawl on my feet when the room is dark but I have not had that issue here! Great food, love their Buffalo Cauliflower! Great movie promotions! Exceptional staff.
The seats were comfortable. The food was hot, fresh, and very tasty and the beer was cold. The service was fast and pleasant. It is a little on the pricey side but you are paying for the experience as well as the meal. Sometimes it's worth it.
The staff, food and atmosphere is always perfect here. I love the drinks, buttery popcorn and warm chocolate chip cookies. I always want to give them 5 stars but the dang escalator out front hasn't worked in years. What's up with that? …
This theater was ok. As someone who remembers the old days when this commercial area across from NorthStar was terrible and had almost nothing, I was pleased to come here and see this place. The building architecture is nice, and the inside
It's a nice movie theater. I wished the seats could recline. The food service to your seat definitely makes this place different than most other theaters, but unfortunately they forgot about my food on this visit lol Staff apologized and
The waiters inside the theater are super nice, but other than that I was not a fan of my recent experience. The leather on the seats was absolutely destroyed and torn up and I was wearing shorts so it felt just awful on my legs for the
This was our first time here, we were less than impressed. The theater could use some definite upgrades. The chairs were super worn (leather cracking and peeling) and the bathrooms were not very clean. The service was pretty fast for
Movies and dinner what more could you want. Bernice experience. Large comfortable chairs with tables shared between two seats. The food was actually pretty good and nice vegetarian options and ample alcohol, beer and wine selections.
Watched a great movie called Killers of the Flower Moon. Chairs are very comfortable. This place was great, just a little pricey for food. We spent before taxes $61 for a burger with fried fried pickle spears and 2 soda.
Great theater and great experience! We watched our movie with a beer and mozzarella sticks what else could we ask for? The servers were really nice and it just feels like going back in time! Really enjoyed it!
Was great! Plenty of parking , plenty of food there to eat ,! Great Service there Excellent! All orders was taken care of ! The Bathroom's are Clean there ! The Movies are Great there ! Asome time there !
This place is great! If you want to go enjoy a great movie with great seats, you don’t have to worry about getting up and going to get anything because you have a wait staff. I definitely will go back.
I have the Alamo Drafthouse Season Pass, and it's definitely worth it if you're a frequent movie goer. Food is always good. I just wish this location had reclining seats like the Stone Oak location.
First time here, it is so convenient ordering what we want from our seats instead of waiting in line. The popcorn and the fried picks were delicious. Our waiter Josh was great and friendly.
Great time at Alamo hosting GME! Food was great, staff was great, and we don't blame you for the issues with the stream. Love the GF options! But a GF menu on request would be amazing.
theater was clean. service was good. food was alright. escalators were down but the elevator was working. masks available if you need. bathrooms attended to. not too crowded.
4/30/2023 I recently visited this location to watch the new Evil Dead Rise movie with my family the over all experience left a lot to be desired considering that
Service was excellent upon entry and inside theater! Great explanation of what to expect a d great date night spot.
This was our first time at this theater and we had a blast! Great service, good drinks, and the food was fun!
