They were such a treat to deal with when they make mistake. Jennifer, a lovely (sarcasm) representation of company, is a joke and likes to blame the customer. The estimator who was knowledgeable came on site and knew what had to be done. The roof was getting rebuilt on the weekend and the shingles were being put up Monday. No shingles were on site for the guys and then she blamed the job site for the shingles not being there. They supposedly came by Friday evening (according to Jennifer) and the site wasn’t ready. Yes that was true because it was getting done on weekend. Then proceeds to tell me that my site was so poorly organized (because framers had to put on a few more sheets of plywood) and because there wasn’t the proper flashing on before they proceeded to do work. They knew what needed to be done but oh yes, it was my fault because I should understand roofing. When she was called out, she then proceeds to say “maybe we don’t even want to work on this job”. So I said “sure”. I asked to speak to her manager which she was so happy to tell me that she was the manager and co-owner and that she has been doing this for a long time. I guess she doesn’t understand customer service. Well I found another roofing company who is amazing and they didn’t seem to have the same issues that lovely Jennifer had. I would NEVER EVER recommend this business. So if you are looking for a company that understands customer service, I’m using Red services roofing. On a side note, I’ve now talked to a few people about Alfs roofing and The same type of complaints. I will respond to the owners response......I will post the photos that shows the piece of roof decking that was missing. As per the owner, she admits that the shingle supplier was out on Friday but unable to deliver. Her estimator knew that the roof was being done on the weekend so I'm not sure why they think it would have been done on Friday. I don't yell.....I can pretty much have all of my trades confirm this. I am firm but I don't yell. She doesn't even mention her snarky attitude. I like how she thinks I am frustrated at my framers (I wasn't). I was frustrated at how poorly Alf's roofing handled it. Her workers that were on site Monday morning said the shingles even if delivered on Monday wouldn't have them back on site because they head to the next job. So I like how the hold up was the few pieces of plywood missing and not the missing shingles. What a joke!! DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY - YOU WILL REGRET IT! I have been telling everyone I know. I'm getting quite a bit of response back that people are not surprised because Jennifer can be extremely rude and has no idea what customer service is.

This July 2017 I had to re-roof my house and attached garage, removing the cedar shakes and have it reshingled with GAF Timberline shingles along with the replacement of eavestroughs, facia and soffits. After doing my due diligence seeking out various contractors and reviewing many quotes I found that Alf’s Roofing price was not only very competitive with other quotes but their knowledge and expertise put my mind at rest. Having done satisfactory business with them in the past we decided to accept their quote, visit their showroom checking out samples and colors and managed to take some home to think about. We received excellent customer service and managed to put a timeline in place. The amount of work put in by the crew was fantastic and the transformation amazing! Once the roofing was complete the rest of the work followed with all new eavestroughs etc. and with the same efficiency and professionalism performed by the previous crew who did the roofing. The crews were great to talk to, very respectful of our property and their cleanup was impeccable. My experience with Alf’s roofing has been (Through the Roof ! ) with much appreciation and respect for all their team members. Certainly a great company to do business with and I will refer them to everyone!

Called Alfs the night of the snow squall Jan 20th and left a message requesting an appointment for an inspection and likely repair. Got a call back saying they would try but likely wouldn’t be able to get to our house until Monday the 25th. Fair enough, that was fine. Monday I call to find out when they would be arriving, was told they were super busy and would hopefully be at our house in a couple days. Ok, a call to update would have been nice but I recognize it’s a busy time. Friday the 29th arrives and I’ve seen roofing companies in our neighborhood all week. So I call again and I’m told that it snowed and the weather got cold so it was probably going to be another couple weeks. The woman I spoke to seemed to be completely indifferent. I was just disappointed in the complete lack of communication. Won’t bother trying to use this company again. Edit to respond to owners comment: Sargeants roofing came out on Monday and repaired on Wednesday in snowy, cold conditions. If you don’t do repairs in inclement weather, you should have said so when we initially called.

I had Alf's Roofing complete some repair work on my roof after several shingles and a fascia cover were blown off by wind storms over the last few summers. The office responded to my inquries in a timely manner. Jasmine provided me with a quote that stated the minimum fee for small repairs (like mine) was $200.00 + GST. After approving the cost Yvan came to my home and did a great job of the work that was required. Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with his lack of professionalism - he used my washroom, but didn't wash his hands afterwards and he also decided to light up a cigarette on my property without my permission (smoking is something I don't allow at all on my property). Pros - Communication was very quick - Work was well done Cons - Yvan was unprofessional - didn't wash hands after using washroom & was smoking on my property without permission - Quote didn't include statement that minimum fee applies to labour only and doesn't cover parts/materials Since there are many roofing companies in the Edmonton area, I likely will not contact Alf's Roofing again.

UPDATE to Alf's response: In their response, they got it wrong. The pipes/vents were improperly installed by Alf's, not the HVAC guy. They tried to blame the other guy. Alf's roofing replaced the shingles on our house and roof last summer. All was well until the following winter. We discovered that they installed the wrong vents (intake and exhaust) to the furnace. There were two problems: 1) the intake vent was downwind from the exhaust, so air was being recycled back into our house. 2) The vents were too low, so when the snow accumulated on the roof, it covered the vents, which eventually turned to ice, that then melted and leaked in the attic and ultimately causing damage to the furnace. We had to pay over $1K to have the furnace repaired. Alf's agreed to repair the vents, but the guy they sent over installed it incorrectly AGAIN. I had to send him a photo of the furnace manual to convince him to come back and do it to code. They never compensated us for the repairs to the furnace.

Josh and his crew from Alf's Roofing showed up bright and early on Monday morning and got to work without hesitation. What an absolute delight to meet Josh and his crew. It was a very hot day (+32) and a roof is not where one wants to be in the bright sun with no shade. Very seldom do I ever award 5 stars to any firm that has done work for me but Alfs Roofing deserve all five stars and then some. They were organized and have obviously worked as a "team" with a competent leader in Josh who from what I could see worked circles around the other staff, but not to detract from the other workers efforts as they too were on the mark. Dennis made an appearance the next day to add some finishing touches to our garden shed. It is certainly not hard to see why this firm has been an award winner in the business community many times over in Sherwood Park and clime. We are most pleased with the quality and service from this firm.

Alfs replaced a roof on a home I owned 17 years ago and I was very impressed so thought I would call them for a house we just purchased. Prices have gone up over 17 years but that is about all thats changed. They still do fast estimates, still have fair pricing and seem to still have the best installers and office staff in town. Every single person, from the estimator, to the scheduler, to the top notch installer and even the accounting department are really great to deal with. Alfs has been around it seems like forever and is one of those generational companies where the values and practices of the orignal founders have been instilled in the new generation. This new roof is probably going to outlive me but if I happen to move and need my roof replaced again, I will call Alfs, no doubt about it. Just a great company with great people who really care. Cant ask for more than that.

Alf’s Roofing did an outstanding job. I had quoted three other companies and they came right in the middle at a decent price. We selected our shingles and signed off on the deal. What was communicated to us happened exactly. When they said the product would be delivered it was delivered. When they said the roofers would start the job they started the job. The amazing part was how fast they were. I left at 8 in the morning and when I came back at 5pm everything was done! The whole process only took 2 weeks from signing off to completing the work. I gave them four stars instead of five because, I found one cigarette butt and some muddy water on one side of the house, annoying but they did apologize for missing the butt and not wiping off the water from the siding. Overall very happy and the house looks great!

I had Alf's roofing do two houses for me on our property and the finished job looks fantastic. The crew was very professional and had the answers to all my questions. I was amazed at how quick they did the first house and that was on the hottest day of the year to boot. The second house has a very steep pitch and they handled it with ease and kept safety their top priority. The job didn't end with just installing the new roofs either as the clean up done after words had the yard looking better than it did before they shower up. I will indeed get Alf's roofing to do more work around our acreage, there was no hidden charges and everything was completed on time. I would definitely recommend Alf's roofing to anyone needing their services and will use them again in the future.

Alf's does phenomenal work! I highly recommend them! I initially had my roof replaced by a relative's company. They did an abysmal job and left my home looking terrible with multiple leaks. Afterwards, Alf's was recommended to me by neighbours, friends and relatives. Alf's employees showed up shortly before I left for work and I had an entirely new roof by the time I got home. Their employees were friendly, very professional and did excellent work. All this and they quoted the lowest price out of 11 companies. If you are in the Edmonton area, and are looking for a roofing company, this is the one to go with.

We contacted Alf's on June 16th to get an estimate on replacing our shingles. Their estimate was the best price, with a full breakdown of everything included and estimates of any extras. They arrived June 28th around 8 AM and were finished by 4PM! That included cleanup, which was very thorough. You would never know we had any work done except for the Alf's sign on our lawn and our excellent roof. We also requested them to do our eavestroughs, which is slated for about 3 weeks from now. We'll review that when they're finished. Thanks for the great work!

Wow, this company is like amateur hour. They are a bunch of hacks. I paid them to do a job and they left a hole in the roof. Once it rained, the water started to come into my house. I personally had to go and fix the hole myself. I called them and the lady would refuse to help me. Kept talking in circles and trying to say it's my fault for a hole they drilled and forgot about. She eventually hung up and left me confused on how ignorant someone could be towards their customer. I would never recommend this company to no one, if anything beware.

Had me shingles put in 9 years ago by this company, during the installation they put multiple holes through my roof that had to be repaired(6000$ in damages they had to pay) I guess stuff happens but I wasn't impressed. At that time they told me they were 35 year warranty (IN WRITING) now I called to get them looked at for warranty issues and they are now denying any claim. They state do to Alberta climate they are not covered. Will be reported to the BBB. Not an honest contractor. Terrible customer service and installation. DO NOT USE THEM.

We were extremely happy with our garage shingle replacement from Alf's. Before signing the contract we were already glad with how efficient the company was and how quickly the quote was provided. The installer was done within half a day, and the shingles look amazing! The site was left in great condition. I would highly recommend this company! We found Alf's through a recommendation where they completed my parents' house and garage roofs. We also appreciate their attentiveness in general and it was great working with a family-owned business.

Was experiencing leaks with our Eavestroughs and requested a price quote to replace. After an inspection was performed by Alf's Roofing - it was discovered that there was a serious clog in one of the downspouts and replacement was not necessary. Some minor shingle repairs were performed in addition to removing an old Satellite Dish and sealing the holes. Service fees were very reasonable. We were very impressed by the "honesty and integrity" of this Company which speaks volumes! Will definitely use their services in the future...

I recently got my roof reshingled by Alf's and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The quote was delivered the day after requesting it and their price was very competitive with other quotes I received. I went into the showroom to view sample colors and all the ladies in the office were more than happy to spend time answering any questions I had. I received a quote from this company and they subcontracted (Darrell’s Eaves) the work out to another company. I thought they would be doing the work themselves. I had some issues with the workmanship and Alf’s roofing refused to deal with it and they gave me the name and number of the guy that installed them and left me to deal with the other company. When I emailed for a quote, I didn't expect that there would be a representative showing up at my house unannounced walking over my roof while I'm at work. My teen daughter, who happened to be at home, phoned me in a panic wondering what was happening. When I phoned your office requesting an explanation, you stated this is your standard practice and started arguing with me. That's a big NO in my books. Great way to kill a potential deal before we even begin. Two thumbs down for this company.

I recently had a roof repair. The company estimated in the range of $250 to $500. The repair person came and found that the material he had does not fit. He returned a few days later and fixed the roof. I late received a bill of $250 which is at the very low end of the estimate. I am pleasantly surprised. I commonly encountered cases (with other service provides) where the actual cost is higher than or at high end of estimate. This is a good experience and it shows that the company is trustworthy.

We had Alf's roofing replace our house roof several years ago and they did a great job. The shingles were replaced with new ones and after they were finished the area around the house was cleaned and swept for nails. Last year we needed the garage roof replaced and phoned for an estimate which was very competitive. They did the job in 5 hours and left the back yard in excellent condition. In between these job I needed the car post rolled asphalt roof repaired, again no complained or leaks.

Great service. We had both the house and detached garage roof done and then two weeks later had new eavestroughs and downspouts installed on both as well. The roof was done in just one day with two people working on it. They worked a bit longer into the evening just to finish up and it was a pretty hot day, too. Both workers were extremely courteous and left our place with everything cleaned up. The eaves only took half a day to get up. Once again, very happy with their service.

I have a very tall 100 year old house with steeply pitched roof and several gables. . As I quickly discovered this is highly undesirable to roofers. Alf's was the only company that cheerfully offered to undertake the work and at a better cost than the other companies begrudging quoted. What others said would be three-four days: work was completed in only two. Very pleased with the price and expertise in how this was handled .

They replaced the entire roof without any defects. It was a competitive price. But the customer service was poor, especially with inquiries after the project was completed. And they only sent two people to replace our entire roof in a single day. It was a rushed job with the two people running the entire time - literally right up to sunset. If I were to go with Alf's again, I would insist on at least three people.
