I wrote a critical review of Plugin's supposed gem in Cheadle a few weeks back. Now I know I was right cos I've just been to William Butterfield's All Saints in Margaret Street, London. Polychromatic Fantasyland this is SO much better! An utter, riotously wrought, mid Victorian masterpiece, up with the very best of wee Willie Burgess stuff. Go and be amazed and you'll see why Plugin is so clunkily second rate!

Discovering All Saints Church after 14 years in London was like finding the city's best-kept secret. A must-visit with its spectacular architecture and atmosphere. Walking in one evening, we lucked out as someone played the organ. The solitude heightened the experience, and we were captivated by the beauty. I plan to return for an organ music concert.

A wonderful church and one I try to visit for mass whenever I'm in London on business. (mad three times a day plus confession, morning prayer abs evening prayer are on offer). There's also a good selection of pamphlets on contemplative prayer by the entrance (which rotates so worth checking regularly). Father Alan and his team are wonderful and I highly recommend a visit.

An Oasis of calm just off Oxford Street. This beautiful church is Grade I listed and a great example of High Gothic Revival architecture in London. The bright red and grey brickwork is particularly impressive and the courtyard is so peaceful. Other examples of this style include the more popular Palace of Westminster and St Pancras station.

The unusual banded red brick patterned exterior of this Grade I Listed church on a quiet tertiary road doesn't prepare one for the truly breathtaking interior. Remarkable design and craftsmanship exuding atmosphere makes for an exceptional and unforgettable experience. Counts amongst London's must-see destinations. Essential.

All Saints Church is a haven of peace within a couple of minutes' walk from Oxford Street. The interior is wonderfully ornate, every surface being covered with beautiful wall paintings, tiles, carvings and gilding, and glowing stained glass windows. A lovely place to enjoy some quiet reflection.

Absolutely stunning church. I didn’t attend a service as I was here for a trip with my university, but as an Orthodox Christian, I find it hard to be impressed by churches. This one took my breath away. The Father was lovely too and some of the organ we heard was very good. God bless.

We went on Xmas eve and we were drunk! Lovely church, the church goers were friendly and although some were looking at us because we were obviously drunk however no one disturbed us. I felt they were inclusive and open to all which was sweet of them. The Christmas singing was lovely.

A beautiful church which, if I'm in the area, I always pop into. The vicar performs an excellent short service here at lunchtime. The decorations are world class. There are also many young men sleeping rough in the aisles and on the floor, but don't be put off.

Butterfield’s Victorian Gothic masterpiece, and one of the prettiest churches to visit in London. The interior has gorgeous Italianate influences and has very little visitors.

Holy Communion is celebrated at least 3 times daily, as well as private confession and morning and evening prayer. This the Church of England at its best and it uses common worship for Mass, morning and evening prayer, and isn't forward in faith affiliated.

As three brown guys walking past. Heard beautiful music coming from the church. The attendees allowed us to listen to the music and their sermon. Seem like a peaceful group of people that were praying for those across the world

STUNNING. All Saints took my breath away when I first visited it. One of the most prized works of Victorian English art and architecture. Butterfield's finest...and definitely worth the trip to Margaret Street!

The good: Homeless are sleeping inside the church thus avoiding the cold weather outside. The bad: homeless are sleeping inside the church, snoring loudly while it's day light outside.

Magnificent choir for the 11am service. High church with incense and bells... and a truly magnificent gilded interior. Highly recommend a visit. Fantastic architecture by Butterfield!

This is a place of great stillness and sanctity in the middle of the West End. It's also a wonderful example of some of the best of 19th century Christian art and architecture.

An exquisite high Anglican Victorian Church in Central London. The Ash Wednesday sung Latin Mass was superb and more Catholic than the Catholics! The choir was incredible.

Beautiful church, if you want to feel in peace and quiet make sure you spend some time in this magnificent place. You won’t regret it. Go on your lunch time and enjoy it.

A really lovely church. Is quite unique (only has 2 walls with windows). The tiled walls are a delight. It's a place of sanctuary, in a busy area of central London.
