Second time booking the hall here. (First time was just over 3 years ago which is why we booked again). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go ahead with the booking. I had initially paid part of the money but was later told by someone else other than the person who took the booking that the church as well as the hall was not hired out during the Easter weekend. Surprisingly, when I spoke to the person who took the booking, they were quite rude and also proceeded to inform me I was not booked in for a date during the Easter weekend, despite having it in writing. I was also then told that I had changed my mind 5 times since October. I think they may have got me mixed up with someone else as I only made the enquirey in March. Fortunately, I was able to get back my money once requested in an email which did not take long at all. When booking, please confirm that the hall is definitely available for hire.

Great historical Church, positioned at a Junction Point of History - not just where several major Roads meet! Cromwells Army billeted here briefly - & held the First Parliamentary Conference (as it transpired!)! actually IN the Church! VISIT! Many Social Activities. Right next door is an excellent Café/Restaurant 'The Pantry'. Good food, reasonable prices, supports the Church, pity closed pm. Great range of High Street Shops & Banks - Trains & Buses to Everywhere!☺

At Mary's is very community focused and I saw from their printed order of service and other newsletters they are Christians in action in Putney. They not only have regular Anglican services there but have food banks, repair services (clothes, broken appliances). and many other local community focused help . Music and worship his the right 'note' for me as an Anglican. Its inclusive.

This is a great place, to grab a tea or coffee close to the hustle and bustle of Putney High Street. It is a church but it has a separate cafe which is a completely different venue. There is an outside seating area too which I really appreciate. They serve pastries and other food too. I noticed they now do Friday fish and chips and Sunday roasts, although I am yet to try either!

This is one of my favourite places in London: a beautiful, historical church, right on the start of Putney Bridge. There is also the Putney Pantry situated within the Church, which is quite simply one of the nicest places to have a coffee or eat some lovely homemade food. Staff are very friendly too. If you go to Putney, you must visit this place

Refused to display leaflets for a local amateur opera production saying that they only display leaflets for events in their own church (not actually true, looking at the large leaflet stand in their cafe, but what can one do...). If you run a community cafe and have a large leaflet stand, you should support the community!

Beautiful and historic building, check out the Putney Debates exhibition inside the church and learn a little about our history. Lots of local community events happen here, benefits from a great cafe with home made food. Disable toilet. Also check out the grounds and view from the rear, they also hire out rooms.

St Marys Church Putney is an icon for all Putney residents and a landmark to greet us on returning home crossing the bridge. I was astonished to see that those presently in control of the building and its usage, made a decision to cancel a

It was absolutely unexpected and fascinated to find such an atmosphere in the church. The colours of the lights was so different and emphasized the music. The musicians played so well, which pleased my music lovers nature.

I love a touch of architecture in town and this ticks all the boxes. It looks the part is very well kept and generally fits nicely into the Putney atmosphere. Well worth a look if you're passing through.

  • Trisha Shannon

Busy church doing lots of community things plus keeping up its main purpose. Historically important as the location of the Putney Debates during the Civil War and there's an excellent display about that.

  • paul beer
