The service and management of this vet surgery leave a lot to be desired. I’ve been a customer here for a few years now and though it was sometimes difficult to get an appointment, up until about nine months ago things were OK (some delays, some minor service issues but generally fine). However things seem to have spiralled out of control and, though I’m sure the usual excuse of Covid will be offered to account for all the issues, I don’t personally believe that it covers everything. The surgery appears to have made the decision to take on far more customers than it can handle. When I do manage to get an appointment (I’ll cover this in a moment), there are always scores of other customers waiting and queuing, far more than there used to be. I’ve never had an appointment be less than 15 minutes late and on two occasions had to wait over half an hour. The front office staff and vets are always rushed and appear stressed. Link this with the sea of customers waiting to be seen and it isn’t a Covid issue, it’s an oversubscription issue. Which takes me onto trying to get an appointment. If you call the surgery you’re highly likely to have the phone answered and be asked to “hold the line for a moment”. I’ve politely agreed and twice waited five minutes (before hanging up) and once ten minutes. I call back afterwards, irritated at the rudeness, and am simply asked to hold the line again and the same happens again. Now I’m more firm, and ask for them to take my name and number and return my call (something that they should probably be offering in the first place) but they generally don’t. Surely it’s clear that this is incredibly poor service? Last week, I called twice and the receptionist has agreed to call me back on both occasions but didn’t. I’ve been trying to get my kitten vaccinated for four months but every time I manage to speak to somebody I’m just told that they don’t have any vaccines and don’t know when they’ll get them back in. Even if this is due to covid/brexit/supply chain issues, it doesn’t make up for the terrible communication and lack of customer care. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but felt compelled to in this instance, due to the long standing, significant issues that people should be aware of if they’re considering signing up. Poor service and almost impossible to get an appointment.

This was my first experience with a vet and initially I was very pleased, however that changed very quickly. I went to this vet knowing they were not specialists in exotics. However they were willing to help- I was over the moon. The vet was nice and all seemed well. My budgie was sent home with an anti-inflammatory (supposedly for a week). During our drive home my budgie looked incredibly stressed and agitated. I inspected her as soon as I got home and noticed the vet had clipped her nails way too short up to her veins (seen on the image attached), leading them to bleed. I was incredibly saddened by this. We left the vets with even more issues we had gone there with. To top this off, when I got home I then discovered that the anti-inflammatory given was barely a drop and I could barely get any on the syringe. I had to add drops of water and dilute it (which decreased its strength) to use it a few days in hope they would ease her pain. When I called them up to ask for more, the receptionist wasn’t keen on giving me more and said she had to ask the vet showing some attitude. I then called later and was told I could come and collect it by another lady at reception who was much more polite. Another 20 minute drive back after days and I found out I was actually given an insufficient amount the first time as their computer ‘recalculated’ it when I requested more. Mistakes can happen, however I was then asked to pay again? When I questioned why, the receptionist told me I was originally given an insufficient amount, and I was only charged for that certain amount and not more. This was a bit of a shock as it was also their mistake and nobody would have said anything if I didn’t call up but I paid again anyway. Again, only a few drops but I really couldn’t see any point in calling or going back. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommended, my pet is my priority and the service was also terrible. So much for my first experience.

WARNING TO ANIMAL LOVERS! They don't let you be with your pets during the visit! I booked in my cats for a checkup and vaccinations. We were left outside in the winter cold for 30 minutes after our appointment time until the vet finally came outside to see us. We were then told they don't have vaccinations available at the moment which was the main reason we had booked. She then picked up one of the carriers and went to take one cat inside without me present for the checkup. I asked if I could be present however I was told no. Needless to say I took my cat back off her and left! What a waste of time and additional stress for my new adopted babies. How can I receive the best advice for my cats if I can't be there to speak with the vet about any concerns? You wouldn't hand over your scared 9 month old child to the GP at the door so I definitely wasn't doing this with my pets. Unprofessional all around and I'm sad I couldn't rate this lower. Unsure how this place has such positive reviews from the service I've experienced tonight. A disappointed animal lover.

Absolutely AWFUL vets, all they care about is the money, been with their pet plan and they’ve been not providing the medication for my dog that they should of been for a very long time, they never have appointments for urgent treatments or routine care, months long waiting list, computer system isn’t kept upto date and they don’t care about your pets at all!!! they’re rude and dismissive. They lost all my dogs records over the covid period, when I wasn’t allowed to go in with my dog (was left waiting outside in all weathers) they said they vaccinated my dog at the time, yet now they have no record of vaccinating my dog. I’ve had enough, I’m moving my dog to pets at home and PDSA as they care about animals!!! Unlike Anderson’s vets that only care about the pay cheque!!!!! Please be warned if you love your pets don’t take them here!!!! I’d give them zero stars if I could!

Such a great practice - our little puppy has been with them since 8 weeks, and is just over 8 months now. I am overprotective of him and he’s had a tendency for low level mayhem like soft stools, bloody stools, vomiting etc which has meant a lot of worry for us! The vets, techs, nurses and receptionists have all been so patient, kind and reassuring and we’re really glad to have found Anderson’s Burnt Ash Lane (have also used the out of hours service and had fantastic support from them too, especially Hayley who has been so lovely and helpful). Our Dougie is a really delightful little menace, brings as much joy as he does worry, and it’s great to know we have the good people of Anderson’s to help us keep him safe and healthy.

What a super vet surgery. I have used this practice for many years. The vets are thorough with explaining and extremely proffesional when handling your animals. Always friendly and offer practical and medical advice. During the pandemic they were open constantly and made huge efforts to keep that professionalism going, running back and forth to cars with animals and consultations. I feel they are reasonably priced. I have used another local vet in an emergency and it was a pretty poor service, dirty and a shocking price. So I'm happy with the service and care my babies get at Andersons. My only negative is sometimes it tricky to get a same day appointment but that's because they are popular.

  • Leaaa

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS VET! Would give 0 stars if possible They were unable to diagnose my dog and gave her numerous antibiotics and scans for possible issues. They still had no idea what was wrong and kept giving her different types of antibiotics until she was eventually has a seizure. At this point her health was really bad, eyes barely opening, couldnt move, hear etc. The bill was also really expensive because of all the unnecessary things they gave her. The main reason i am so appalledwith this service is that when we took her to another veg they knew exactly what wrong. unfortunately she didnt make it Through the surgery as her health was so bad, something i blame this vet for!

  • M V

I find that the care is good if you get lucky, the practice is incredibly inconsistent. -If you phone you will put on hold and sometimes hung up on, be prepared to call back! -It's 50/50 whether you will speak to someone who is polite and displays basic customer service -Items are out of stock or the wrong doses are given. (I've been told to call back in January for my kitten's vaccination and on a previous occasion I wasn't given all the tablets I had paid for). To use these services you must be incredibly patient and have an open diary 5 days a week. It is clear that they have too many patients for the staff they have.

  • Jack 792

Worst vets!!!! MONEY GRABERS!!!! If you reallly care for you pet and its health and wellbeing go else where!!! my dog has had a skin issue for months I constantly ringing the surgery trying to get appointments being lied to saying they only give appointments out on the day, I ring up on the day as soon as they open to be told they are fully booked disgusted with the vet surgery. Even when I've got an appointment my dog leaves no better than when they went in, they are incompetent don't know what they are doing. Don't waste your time and money unless your happy for your pet to suffer due to lack of knowledge and care!

  • Paige Upchurch

My rabbit had what looked like a massive abscess on her eye. The vet thought she might have cut her gum or had a tooth infection, gave her some antibiotics and pain meds. The infection got much worse over the next few days. They asked me to leave her with them all day and told me that she would need an xray and possible surgery. I collected her that evening and she had not had an xray. The vet told me she had "given her some grass and she seems ok". And perscribed her more medication. When I took her home and took her out of her carrier she was in a very bad way and died within the hour.

  • paige taylor

We called this vets for an emergency appointment this morning not expecting to get one today (as we'd previously been with Vets For Pets...) and they told us to come in right away! They were incredibly kind and professional and looked after my cat so so well. I would highly recommend this practice and will be changing our regular check ups from the last place to here! Another big big plus for me is the pricing. Honestly at least a third of the price Vets For Pets charge. Great for anyone who needs their babies checked out but can't really afford it.

  • Bee Lynch

The outstanding, compassionate and knowledgeable service from Katie over the last week has been very touching. Millie the cat has been poorly, with varying symptoms, yet Katie was never rushed, taking time to answer my questions; she was also very kind to me as a tearful, worried owner. She's really amazing. When Millie was kept in for the day, I felt totally confident that she was in the best hands. I'm very grateful and would recommend Andersons without hesitation. Thank you, too, to Andrei and the lovely reception/nursing staff

  • KimmyVpixie

The only vet I trust with my fur babies. My youngest cat Diddi was suffering from a urine infection. She was seen the same day as an emergency, (squeezing her in between patients) treated with injections and given prescription medications. Prices were low too, which was helpful. Next day Diddi still had a bit of trouble, so I called and she was taken in again for an emergency check and wasn't charged consultation fees this time, just for pain medication. This Practice cares for their patients and the Fur parents. 10/10 every time.

  • Suzanne Zacharia

Disgusting service. Our 20 year old cat was vomiting, staggering instead of walking, drooling, and breathing heavily. They said to bring her in as an emergency, then proceeded to ignore her completely whilst they attended to routine vaccinations of other animals that had an appointment. After 45 minutes of this, asking them about 4 times what to do and if we can get seen, and just bring ignored, we brought our baby home. We need to find another vet. Gutted.

  • Estela V. Noble

Excellent centre. Staff are very efficient and would go the extra mile to help you. I did not have a basket to transport my cat, but they lent me one. I made a last minute emergency appointment but did not charge me anything more for it even thought they had to squeeze me in. My vet was very good and quickly found out the problem. My cat is still on antibiotics but already in a better mood. I recommend this place 100%

  • Lauryn.

I've been using Anderson's for about twelve years now and can't recommend them highly enough. All four of my cats (past and present), three dogs, and a hamster have all been treated here and Katie the vet is great. The nurses are always really helpful and happy to answer all of my questions. Though no vet is cheap, Anderson's prices are really reasonable. Glad I'm local to such a lovely practice :)

  • Sophie

Honestly I’ve got nothing but praises to this practice, we’ve been with them for years and they are always happy to help. Even if you need an emergency appointment for you pet they will try their hardest to see them that day if they can which for me is amazing because as pet owners you worry if your pets in pain and you don’t know how they feel but I honestly recommend this vet practice so much.

  • Tracie

I had to use this veterinary surgery as my usual vets that has been overtaken by Medivet (like so many vets), did not have an experienced enough available. This never happened when it was The Laurels. I was most impressed with Anderson’s on Bromley Common. They examined my car throughly, gave an injection, took bloods and had the results of the blood test within an hour. Excellent service.

  • Maureen Mcbain

I was getting a puppy with a pre-existing condition and was nervous . Kate the vet talked me through all the risks and issues with the condition and helped me make an informed decision. And then once puppy came home, Kate provided puppy with a free check up. I now trust this vet’s surgery to look after my puppy. Plus all the other staff are very friendly and responsive.

  • Jodie Phillips

Dont know how they can call themselves animal lovers just all about the money in my eyes never in my life will I return to this vets please if you love your pets avoid Anderson's at all costs , took my elderly dog there to be checked over as was concerned about his health was told he was in great health for a dog of 14 a week and a half later he had to be put to sleep .

  • Elise Pearce

Unfortunately, we had to have our pet hen put down, but Laura the vet was so kind to us and to our hen that we really couldn't have asked for a better service. Laura did try to help the hen, but she had just been rescued and her little body just couldn't take it. All the staff showed great kindness and our little hen got the dignity she deserved. Thank you to the team.

  • Jay

They always look after our pets. They are reasonably priced compared to others, and the level of care is great. They understand a pet is a part of the family and not just a pet. They have a pet calming spray in there aswell to help animals calm in their time of stress. I think that's a brilliant idea. They have a range of products they sell too, like food and toys

  • Eileen Parry

This surgery is the best I have ever used. I changed to them some 8 or 9 years ago and have never been disappointed. Katie is an amazingly dedicated Vet and animal lover and her other vets are equally praiseworthy. The veterinary nurses are friendly, helpful, and sympathetic in times of need. Prices are also lower than others in the area which is a bonus!

  • Tee Jay

The vets are really good. Very informative. Good with my dogs However there is a particular receptionist who is so rude leaves you waiting out side the window while she does nothing literally standing watching us waiting in the cold watching her doing nothing. She’s really abrupt. Didn’t catch her name she has an accent. Will be complaining to manager

  • Harriet Driver

I have four pets so I’m here pretty frequently and I must say the staff are wonderful. Always extremely friendly and try and get you in the vets as quickly as possible when booking appointments. The practice is extremely clean too. My dogs love the vets here and you can tell how much they love their jobs and the animals it involves

  • Kat McKinney

The best vet anywhere. Even with social pet distancing in the carpark, getting prescriptions through the window, they're making it work. They go the extra mile, clearly love animals (can't say the same of every vet in Bromley), and make sure you understand what's happening and what you need to do. We'll never go anywhere else now.

  • Nicola Byrne

So glad I found this veterinary practice. They genuinely care about the animals and go over and above. I recently lost one of my dogs to cancer and they could not have been more professional or kinder. Excellent swift service and never feel that the £££ rules unlike other vets I have known. Highly recommend!

  • Sue pernatural

Best vets ever. The staff are all so friendly, helpful and amazing with the pets. We have used them for over 20 years. So compassionate at the saddest part of having a pet in your family when you have to say goodbye. I recommend them above all others. Thank you Katie and all the wonderful staff x x

  • Tony Sparks

The nurse and the vet could not have done more to put my mind at rest when I had to leave my dog there. She had been poorly for a couple of weeks but it only took a quick blood test to get to the root of the problem, the next day she was eating again and was her usual self.excellent care and work.

  • Tracy Hayman

Absolutely brilliant veterinarians and assistants who looked after our beloved Blue. We can’t thank them enough for their brilliant service and care they gave us and Blue throughout his illness. Have never experienced such genuine care and support. I would recommend them to all and everyone.

  • e man

Marking this on 'The scale of dog shivering'.He showed only slight trepidation on entering and the shivers only occured slightly in waiting room when called in to the treatment room. Acceptable jellyfication levels. Only there for a 1st puppy check up though.Cool premises. …

  • F D

This place is ALL about making as much money as possible They owed me tablets I paid for them made me come back twice and practically beg for them. They are so bad I will never recommend them. I now use Eden park vets. Never would i recommend this place as it’s badly managed

  • claire maydon

I am a new client here. My animals are registered, but we have had no need to visit as of yet. I called to get an idea of the cost of a routine procedure. The receptionist was unfriendly & curt. If that is her way with new clients ..... Think I will look for a new practice!

  • Zhu Yh

I was worried based on the review. However I have had very good experience with Anderson. They are very friendly and caring for my cats. When one of my cats got very ill and they have done beyond to solve the problem and comfort me. I am very happy with their service.

  • Genevieve Osborne

I have never had a dog who loves the vet.Tony is my third Staffi recued from Liverpool and when he visits the vet he goes off with them happily and dosent want to get in the car and go home. Lovely people and reasonably priced. Thank you Andersons, Burnt Ash Lane.

  • Vishal Kapoor

Quality of treatment is expensive, and the behaviour of staff is very rude and not welcoming at all. I have called a few times and experienced this stiffness. My visit also made me feel the same way - very rude front office staff, lacks etiquette and are rough.

  • garry titheridge

Had to take my mothers dog there very friendly staff. And amazing price's not like other Vets, these people do care about your pets and you, also really explained about the dogs condition, will be definitely recommending this veterinary to others, thank you.

  • Emily Moir

Trusted vet, I talk my dog and cat here. Downside this location is not 24hrs, but they do have another location in Orpington which is. Reasonable prices. Bit annoying with covid still going on not able to go in with your pet for regular appointments.

Katie and the rest of the team have looked after our dogs for over 10 years now and have been absolutely fabulous. Looked after me when we had to put old Tom to sleep and have coped with lovely Lola when she has not been lovely!

  • Hilary Albutt

So much for an emergency... The vets kept coming out to see others who came after we did, and contrary to what we were told, we were not seen first as its an emergency but ignored for over an hour. Worst vet ever
