A bank staffed with incompetent employees and managers. I have only been dealing with them for a month and they have failed to identify explicitly stated facts within the black and white information I provided to them. After providing sensitive financial documents and explaining them to Philip Shelby, several weeks passed and I received confirmation that the product I had applied for was approved. Moments later, a request for additional information; information which he had already received, and questions I had already answered! I asked to speak with the manager he referred to as presiding over the process and he connects me with an entirely different manager, Lakshmi, who was not the least bit helpful. An entirely unremarkable conversation. Today I receive a phone call from Darren who identified himself as the branch manager, who tells me in no uncertain terms that the application was denied due to information I had presented at the very start which had been explained and laid bare. I waited four weeks to hear from this bank to determine if I was eligible for this product and they could have told me the same day that I was not if they had had even the slightest bit of sense in their heads. When I asked Darren why Philip Shelby had misrepresented the facts in this way he was less than apologetic and said he could not speak to the circumstances regarding this failed transaction. Not only did he not familiarize himself with these dealings before he contacted me he was not interested in having me relate them to him. He was not interested in discussing where the due diligence, accountability and their clear and timely mistake had failed to be identified by their professional processes. Darren has conveyed to me through his actions, or lack thereof, that his position is to act as a blunt instrument in any controversial incidents regarding the conduct of the employees within his branch: immobile, uncompromising and otherwise uninvolved. Beware in your dealings with BMO Shawville. They employ managers who will not acknowledge the short comings of their employees, even those who cannot be bothered to keep track of which sensitive financial documents they have and have not received.

Walked in on a Saturday afternoon with the hopes of starting a new bank account with BMO. While waiting in queue only one of the three tellers were servicing customers, the other two blatantly chatted with one another right in front of the service queue. I of course tried to give them the stare, but the didn't even bother looking at the service queue's direction for the entire time. When it was finally my turn, the teller simply told me to come back another day and make an appointment to start a bank account. I asked why, she said there was no one available to provide me with the service and that I should book an appointment in advance. I asked if there were any open slots today. The teller ran quickly to the financial services manager, and returned to say no. While I can understand that if no one is available, then no one is available, but the teller refused to book an appointment for me. Instead she gave me the business card of the financial services manager, whom she just had a conversation with, and continued to stress that I have to book the appointment with her over the phone and not in person. Ok, while that seems extremely stupid and inefficient for me, I will try that. Surprise, the service manager is now on vacation, so that business card I got is now completely useless. In addition to leaving messages for the branch to call me back to no avail, for the past couple hours I've been trying to get someone on the phone to also no avail. I could be just unlucky, but the other reviews I've read of this branch definitely corroborates my experiences with the lazy tellers and poorly trained staff. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Did not appreciate discrimination by staff towards another customer; will be following up. During a recent visit, there was a woman with two children, one of whom had special needs. As sometimes happens, the child was a bit restless and making some vocalizations. Everyone was able to carry on with their business. UNTIL an employee came from one of the offices and instead of offering to help, asked the mom if she could control her child. The child was by no means out of control and both the mom and the other child were doing their best to comfort him and keep him calm. Then the employee asked the mom if she could HURRY UP AND LEAVE and she calmly replied that was out of her control; she was waiting to finish her transaction at the counter. Then with great impatience, this employee whom I can only imagine had at some point had his empathy surgically removed asked loudly, "Well don't you have someone you can leave him with when you go out?" and bless this mother, she did not raise her voice or lower her head; she just replied, "No, I do not., we are on our own." (And does it need to be mentioned that it is not unreasonable that parents bring their children along with them on errands? She should not be expected to hire a babysitter just to go to the bank.) The man continued to huff while the rest of the customers stood aghast and a couple of the tellers visibly cringed. I don't know if this kind of behavior aligns with BMO's values, but they certainly do not align with mine. I will not be back unless it is to hear how they are making things right, starting with educating employees on diversity, respect, and tolerance for other people.

Went in on Oct 16, 2021, while waiting in line there was an argument happening between a customer and staff, getting heated. Then it was my turn and I thought I was lucky I had another staff member. The reason I went in was that my debit master card was not working. I handed her my card and explained that the Mastercard was not working. She told me that was not possible. She said that it must be the retailer. I told her it has never worked, she would not take my card to see If there was a problem, she said that her daughter had the same card and hers worked. I told her mine would not even work on Amazon. She said that this is not possible and maybe I should get a real credit card. No help, I even asked if I should get another card, and again was told that it is impossible that my card doesn't work. Gaslight much! It was a total waste of time, useless and no sense trying to get help at this location. I should have left when I saw the argument happening in line, obviously customer does not come first at this location. Trying a different location.

I received a call from the Asst. Branch Manager a short while after posting the review. He was courteous and was able to help me. Hence, I decided to give 5-star. Thanks for listing to your customers BMO ! I have been banking at this branch for 8+ years. The service has gradually declined over the years. Last week I had an appointment with a personal banker. After keeping me waiting for close to 10min in front of his office, he passed me on to a co-worker as he was still attending to another customer. Today I had an appoint with the “co-worker” - personal banker @11.30 am MST (a phone consultation). I never got a call even after leaving multiple VMs on her phone. No response to email follow-ups that I did earlier today to confirm the meeting. Either the staff is overbooked or they do not care about long term personal banking customers. Perhaps its time to find a new bank.

If I could give BMO zero stars I would. Atrocious customer relations. Deplorable service on the telephone for one thing. Four hour plus wait sometimes, today over one hour and that was early in the morning. Not acceptable. I have tried getting through for two weeks to speak to someone but to no avail. I don’t have the time to sit waiting for this inexcusable length of time. I even visited a branch in person two weeks ago in Shawnessy to ask for a service call. I was guaranteed that call…. That was a waste of time as no-one from BMO contacted me. All I want to do is close the credit card account! I have contacted my other banks on the telephone and they seem to have no problem in offering the same, continued reliable customer service during this pandemic. BMO wake up. You need to get your act together. I would never want to bank with you and would never ever recommend you.

!!!!!!WORST BANK EVER!!!!!! I went there to change my pre auth information, as I have a car loan with BMO and had to switched bank accounts. I gave the front teller my form, she didn’t know what to do with it so she asked her supervisor. Than she talked to a financial advisor and the lady said she would start the changes for me. The date the money was supposed to come out it didn’t so I called BMO they said they see the pre auth form but it hasn’t been started. She said she would contact the bank and make it a stat change to be completed the next business day. Now two weeks later the money was supposed to come out and hasn’t I get a call from collections.......... I don’t bank with BMO I did for many years and had constant problems I can’t believe I can’t even have a loan with them without getting screwed by them

When are your hours going back to normal? It's very hard to get to the bank when I'm working the same hours! It would be so helpful if you were open on Saturdays and/or later than 4pm Still wondering when or if BMO will be going back to regular hours, such as staying open later than 4pm! The hours now are very inconvenient, especially when I have to actually speak to a teller! Went to this branch today and waited in line for at least 15 to 20 minutes and then left as I have mobility problems and couldn't stand in one spot any longer while two of the tellers were chit-chatting! Everytime I go to this branch I end up having to wait! Something needs to be done about the lack of GOOD customer service! FYI I went to another branch and received much better service! Still haven't received a response to my complaint!

  • collin phillips

Probably the slowest bank I’ve been too, there is constantly a huge line up, I don’t mind waiting but it seems like this bank has no sense of urgency whatsoever, I was just here with 9 people waiting in line in front of me and 1 of the 3 tellers thought it was a brilliant idea to go for lunch while there is well over 10 people waiting in line, i thought the customer comes first ? There isn’t even a coffee machine or even a bowl of candies! I mean if your going to make us wait for ever atleast off the customers a coffee for goodness sake! I’m about to fall asleep in this line! The branch manager needs to tighten up this place! And I’m not just one crazy I’m patient customer! The rest of the google reviews prove my point! I will end this on a positive note! The tellers are friendly and seem like good people!

Really pleased with the service I have received at this branch so far. The finance adviser, Aradhna Meelu, is very patient, has a cheerful and authentic demeanor, and seems knowledgeable in her field. She is accommodating and attentive. So far the other branch staff have been kind as well. My only complaint is with the voicemail. I have tried phoning the branch twice to speak to someone and the voicemail message always promises a callback by the end of the day. No one has ever phoned me back. Don't make false promises if you can't keep them, BMO. I have been a customer for years and rely on being able to connect via phone sometimes with a real person on the other end. That's why this branch only gets 3 stars instead of 4 from me.

  • Jesse Moore

Absolutely ridiculous service. I tried calling this bank and they put me on the callback service because thew wait is 5+ hours! Then they call back and as soon as you pick up the phone they hang up on you - even if you pick it up after half a ring. Can't get help for a problem from a human as all the humans do here is pass your around between computer systems. Very close to taking all my businesses and personal accounts out of this bank. Edit: still no resolution, awful company. I highly recommend any other bank but this one. It is an inhuman, careless, and broken company that should be avoided at all costs.

Applied for HELOC Multiple requests throughout the application process When application is finally done, and ready to sign the documents, advisor scheduled a 12PM meeting. Waited at reception since 11:55 and the advisor wasn’t ready until like 12:10 when I emailed her if we are still going to have our meeting. Documents were not ready at that point and the advisor was printing the documents in front of me. The documents also had incorrect interest rate, instead of prime rate as promised, they added another 2% without telling me. Lucky I caught the change in rate before signing the paper…….

Great experience with setting up a bank account and getting a credit card. Can't speak to the other employees at this branch, but Rachael was particularly helpful in making the whole process easy for me as a customer. Recently Rachael was able to help me resolve several issues with my account and BMO Rewards. She was quick to respond to my emails and calls. I also bank with TD and my personal bank representative there isn't nearly as informative or quick to respond to the issues that come up.

Only been into the location, one time, normally I transact my business downtown. Found the staff helpful and friendly. In fact, one of the staff, reminded me to set up my online account for banking. Had to laugh at that, but hey in this day and age, it helps to be reminded at times. The location uses safety procedures for distancing and hand cleaning, wearing a mask is always a good idea as well. Now that I have visited this location, will go back to transact additional business...

This BMO branch continues to prove that they are way below the bar in finance. Just had an absolutely horrific experience acquiring a line of credit. I recieved so many phone calls, and there were so many mistakes made, that I had them destroy the application. The process couldn't have been more unprofessional, and I almost dropped to the floor when I was offered a 15.7% interest rate. BMO really needs to up their game. This was pathetic from start to finish.

  • Hirar Kumanji

I never give 1 start to any business but this time i have to, someone has to take this to their account, Michael Larbi the associate who's working there is total phony person with fake smiles. Instead of telling me right away that im not/ wont be qualified for line of credit that i was looking for ( which i need to represent a co-signer) instead added me to his list to increase his client numbers and did credit check and wasted around month of my time.

  • K S

Long lines every time I go there and they only put two or max three tellers! And super slow ones! Their hours of service are useless for those working office hours. Customer service is not the best either. Those were the main reasons for me and my family to change banks. Every time we had to go to the bank they were closed. I need to go today to pay a card that cannot be pay online and 4 years later they still close at 5pm!

  • Rebecca Stevens

Pleasant and efficient service at this BMO; I would recommend this as a banking centre. This BMO can be accessed with in person service, drive thru ATM’s, and indoor ATM’s. The team members here were helpful, talkative, and provided information relevant to my account. It appeared they are still taking COVID-19 seriously, as they had several sanitizer stations, and a handwritten sign with info. Such a nice change!

  • Brad Dressler

Diana was awesome at resolving an issue that the Seton branch could not. She reviewed my accounts and fixed some issues without hassling me to open new accounts to buy services. She was quick and efficient. I'll be doing my future BMO banking at this branch instead of the incompetent Seton branch. There was a bit of a wait, but the service from Diana was worth it. Moral of the story... AVOID SETON BRANCH

  • Justin Dohan

Worst BMO branch in Calgary. The tellers working behind the counter don't know anything about being a teller. I brought in a simple bank draft to get deposited into my account and they denied deposited it. Bank drafts work just like a certified check don't try and tell them that cuz they have no idea. I don't recommend anyone using this branch, it'll be a complete waste of your time.

  • MC R

I was looking to get a loan and the lady pretty much said she can't do anything about it because of my situation. I accepted it then but after a few weeks I tried with RBC. Lo and behold I was given 50K LOC and the person who helped me was super nice and accommodating. Very different experience with this branch's lending person I had the misfortune of dealing with.

  • Brandt Tracey

Impossible to get anyone to answer the phone! Finally after several days I got through. Asked to set up a business banking account. They asked “would you like to come in today or tomorrow”. I said “today would be great”. They responded with “we don’t have any appointments today”. If you don’t have any appointments for today don’t offer it!

  • Winnie H

I'm a third party trying to help one of the clients of BMO for general inquiry. I called and left 4 voice messages within 3 weeks, and NO ONE contact me back even thought the voice machine said they will call back by the end of the day. This is getting very frustrated and I find this is very unprofessional.

  • Randi Timbrell

Came to the bank for some help. Was made to wait 20 mins passed my appointment the lady refused to do anything to resolve the situation and then I was told she needed to go eat lunch and had another appointment even though she was going to open me an account so she rushed me out the door.

  • Nick Marshal

Don't go for their service manager, it's a waste of time. They don't know what they do, because they did not get trained. That's not employee's fault, that's BMO's failure. Since I had the samiliar experience at other BMO branch as well, I believe BMO will lose customers soon.

  • Craig Stange

The main issue is having several people in line and only one or two tellers. Often these tellers are dealing with idiots that want to review their entire banking history or solve a world problem. Either refer the more complex issues to an office or get more tellers on.

  • Dioni Cardona

Thankful to the assistance of Aradhna in securing the Title document at a point of disappointment She was so helpful and finally resolved our issue the day following. She also fully addressed our banking needs and queries by offering better if not best options.

  • Harry B

Every time I make a draft from this bank & when other bank calls to confirm, no one pick up. I pay extra money for draft but still it goes in hold. All tellers always refuse to give their desk phone number and not even branch number. I would give zero star.

  • RJ Ask

worst customer service I have ever experienced with BMO. Jessica, is the rudest staff, with lack of professionalism. branch manager never return calls, and never answer the telephone. The abrupt attitude is unprofessional, this is the worst experience.

  • Brett Cescon

I am curious as to when you guys actually work. 10am - 4pm. Those are some solid hours. People who actually work a full day would appreciate better hours though. I was able to grab a 6 pack today but trying to cash a cheque.. hahah priorities I guess

  • Travis & Miranda Hegedus

Would be nice if someone answered the phone. We have been trying to pull a larger sum of cash out of our acct's and it requires a pre- order for the amount of cash we need. But no one at the branch is picking up the phone or returning our messages.

  • Shawn Duitschaever

Came in to get a new bank card, and the teller that helped me was very engaging and super personable. I didn't ask her name but she is a young lady with an accent, and black wavy hair. Straight class

  • D

Dealing with this Branch has been extremely frustrating. I have now spent 6 hours of my time only to continually get a different answer and no progress. I will be moving all accounts from BMO

  • Chad Boal

Frustrating that you can't access your own money. I wanted make an in branch withdrawal and they won't do more the $2500?! They told me I would have to go to multiple branches. Great service.

  • Blair Shunk

Another bank messed up on a draft that we deposited at this branch. The staff here went above and beyond to help us sort this out, even though this wasn't their problem. Thank you!!

  • Mihir Shinde

Very good customer service. When the queue was getting longer, someone from inside office stepped in to help. They also gave me tips on saving money on my mortgage.

  • Alaskan Manywounds

People of colour, be wary here; there is one teller who is heavily reliant on stereotypes; she is incredibly unpleasant and never allows you to have an easy visit.

  • What's Next

All the bad reviews are true. They just take your money but don't provide decent customer service. You should really bank anywhere else

  • Guangyu Bai

Hi google, there should be a 0 star rating. Terrible long waiting time.

  • Autumn W

Outstanding service at this branch! People here are great
