Sis and I had another meal out on Beacon Hill in Seattle. This time we decided on Italian and found what we were looking for at bar Del Corso. I have heard a lot about this small café. And it did not disappoint. We started with a large plate of salad greens lightly dressed with vinaigrette, a generous helping of shaved parmesan and soft boiled eggs, paired with their baccala (salt cod and potato fritters). Dinner was shared small plates of house made Calabrian sausage and a generous bowl of Vongole alla Marinara (little neck clams in marinara sauce) with grilled artisan bread. Every dish was more than enough for two (more than we could eat anyway) and as delicious as they sound. There were two things that, if added, would have made this meal outstanding for me. A grace note of a bit more salt (but then, I have a palate that always craves a bit more salt and pepper) and a bit more fish in the salt cod. The cod fritters was the only dish that tasted lacking, however. It was a solidly great meal otherwise. Bar del Corso is a definite recommendation.

I don't get it. One of the blandest Italian meals we've had in years. How does an Italian restaurant have only ONE red wine (a fruit-punch tasting Sangiovese) by the glass? That was weird right off the bat (sorry not all of us are rich enough to buy incredibly marked up bottles), then the panzanella special was soaking wet in a bowl of overly salted vinaigrette, so the bread was just gloppy, not at all impressive or true to form for this classic Italian dish. But the worst had to be the salami pizza, which not only had so many black burned spots on it that the flavor was more of char than of a good crust, there was absolutely no seasoning on it, with the salami more resembling a dull pepperoni and otherwise utterly flavorless. The bartender was nice enough and fast to get us the check but obviously busy so there was no small talk (we were relegated to the empty bar in a 75% empty restaurant at 5pm on a weeknight because we didn't have a reservation). The music was blaring, the food was dull, and the vibe was more too-cool-for-school than anything that seemed to celebrate Italian food or culture. As you can guess, we won't be back. Another Seattle overhyped spot.

Nice environment and attractive menu. Very good pizza (a little too much char to rate any higher). Excellent sides, bread and beverages. Service was poor (…..same for pizza cutting scissors). Primary server was not hospitable nor friendly and gave off a bad vibe (was not made to feel welcome). The interaction with this server was extremely hurried, almost non-existent and felt both strained and awkward. The remainder of the service was average at best. One of the few places I have been to in recent times where I did not wish to ask any server for a refill of my water. Had a wonderful experience on one previous occasion (while at the bar) but not so this time around. The food alone would certainly be enough to warrant my long trip in again but the service will unfortunately likely negate that from happening down the road. From my perspective, the service is a reflection of the management so I have to question the latter. Disappointing experience.

Bar del Corso was a very pleasant surprise. Since I moved to Seattle I've been very disappointed by the restaurant offerings. Most are priced too high for the quality of the food. If I'm going to pay over $20 for an entree it better wow me and it rarely does. Bar del Corso did. It's not cheap but it's also no super expensive and the food was excellent. I've spent more on significantly lower quality food. It's a smallish restaurant in a rather pretty part of town. The atmosphere was lively, filled with smiling patrons enjoying their meals and conversation. Most folks put on a decent shirt or top but it's not a black tie and gown place. In fact you're probably not going to feel too out of place in a t-shirt. As long as it's clean. ;) You should make reservations but if you show up spur of the moment they may have bar seating open.

I really enjoyed the food and the prices were sensible. The atmosphere was casual but it still felt pretentious. We made reservations as recommended and when we arrived the person who greeted us was not very welcoming. I can’t remember his words but it felt like “what are you doing here?” I do remember my reply was, “food?” Service was really lacking which can kill the vibes for a great meal. Food was super yummy, we ordered more than enough for two people plus dessert and 2 glasses of wine = $100 The dessert was cornmeal cake and the most memorable and I want more!

My husband and I have been to Bar del Corso three times and enjoyed our experience each time. First time we’ve dined here, it was for dinner and the restaurant was bumping with a fun vibe. We sat at the bar the first time and it was great, well attended. Little did we know that there was a cute back patio so the last two times we’ve dined, we sat in the back patio. They have two large heaters if needed. And it’s covered so you won’t get rained on! All friendly servers and bartenders. The pizzas here have become our favorite pizzas in WA. Our fave pizza is probably the Funghi with sausages. The Manila clams small plate is super good. And if the Grilled Octopus with Yukon Gold Potatoes is on the special menu, you must order that... great flavors and is my husband’s favorite small plate ever... So divine! Beacon Hill has some great restaurants and this is a must visit!

  • Hubert Schwarthoff

Not bad, awesome ambience, rushed staff. Wed we could not get a table but Thu worked. I really liked the place, aery and open, one large busy room whith the pizza oven off in the corner. Out back a very pleasant patio. We had three small plates to share, including the very popular meatballs (smoky, recommended), but all three were very salty for our tastes. Pizza was solid, chewy crust slightly burnt, limited selections, especially for folks who don't want spicy. Loved the morel mushroom pizza special, funghi was ok with fairly American sausage (anise). I haven't cut pizza with scissors before . Unfortunately our server was quite brief, no conversation, felt rushed the whole time, with water glasses getting refilled every minute. Post pandemic stress. Overall a likable place with great atmosphere.

Bar Del Corso is a hidden gem of Beacon Hill! I came in on a Friday around 6:30pm for a casual date night - we only waited about 5 minutes till we got seated. I was encouraged to find a decent amount of people waiting inside the restaurant! Their interior feels homey and it's bustling with energy. I did find the noise level louder than a normal restaurant, but I liked how energetic the atmosphere felt. What to order: -FUNGHI PIZZA -FRIED RISOTTO BALLS -ARUGULA PEAR BALSAMIC SALAD -GRILLED OCTOPUS We practically finished ALL this food except for half the pizza and the bill was under $55. What a bargain! Service was quick and the server who helped us was attentive and helpful in helping us make our choices. I will for sure come back to try the meatballs and dessert, and give the pizza another go :)

  • Laura LeDoux

The food was fantastic and the vibe on the patio was fun, but the service was some of the worst I've had in a while. Apathetic servers (which we initially blamed on the extreme heat, which would be totally understandable, but it started to feel personal by the end), taking away our drinks and food before we'd even finished them, taking away my plate as I was taking a bite of food, and then telling us that they have reservations and needed us to leave within 2 or 3 minutes so they could use the table we were at. It, sadly, turned what was supposed to be a joyous reunion of friends who hadn't seen each other in a while into something uncomfortable and weird.

I've given this place a few chances over the years. 1 - They put meat on a pizza that was ordered vegetarian which I didn't notice until I had driven home. Customer service recovery was poor in trying to get it refunded to my card. 2 - Tried to order something on the menu for takeout and they had emailed me back to say they could do it and then when I called to order it they told me they could not because it was something that was difficult to prepare so only available for in person dining. 3 - You literally never know what their menu is because it does not have any online presence. 4 - Customers are clearly an inconvenience here and it comes through in their demeanor.

The food? Excellent. Priced right, good portions and the daily specials are always amazing. Lots of seating and plently of cool drinks too. It's a tad dark and dreary inside, hence the rating and ok this night our waitress was especially grumpy and not very friendly. Did I mention the food was fantastic? Dinner for two under $60 with tax and tip in Seattle? Try it! You will thank me.

The pizza here was excellent. We had a special for the day, so no guarantee it will be there again but the sausage was flavorful and the potatoes were crispy on the outside soft on inside. The salami pizza is delicious. The dough has great flavor, the sauce is bright, and the salami was just slightly spicy. The Marionberry crostatawas very tasty. The berry mostly covered up any flavor from the frangipane but was still so good I didn't miss it. Also, the servers were attentive but never felt intrusive and didn't miss a beat. They even anticipated our requests a few times and we didn't even have to ask.

I wanted to enjoy it more than I did. The food was tasty, but the server didn’t even greet us. It takes two seconds. First things out of here mouth was, can I get you drinks. We got them, and outside of taking our order, never saw her again until we asked the water girl for help on getting drinks. No follow up at all. The place is a really loud if you have any hearing difficulties. And the hardest part was cutting the pizza with scissors without touching everyone’s slices. A bit of a gimmick. Food good. Bar del Corso is wonderful! We sat on their covered patio and started with some apertivo drinks alongside the mussels and escarole salad. I am now obsessed with this salad- perfectly balanced flavors alongside crispy fresh greens. The mussels were super fresh and I loved the fennel and tomatoes in the broth. The Romana pizza followed with added mozzarella di Buffala and omg! This is the perfect pizza IMO- the crust had amazing flavor and the toppings were distributed just so to bring joy in every bite. We finished our meal with the super tender polenta cake and some amaro. It was a perfect meal with great service. Hope to be back soon!

  • Dale Burks

The cocktails! Whoa! A whole ‘nother level. And when the bartender came over to explain the cocktail - the one with mezcal - we knew we were in good hands. And then the mussels came out. Exceptional. Tender, juicy, highly flavored. The pork was even better. Tons of flavor and tender as is imaginable. The margarita pizza and funghi were perfect, too. Great meal. Thank you Bar del Corso!

Bar del Corso is a little bit further down the road from the light rail station, but well worth the 5 minute walk. It's a busy little hole in the wall, with good strong drinks, decent prices and a great friendly staff. There is always a line here, so get her early or plan to wait around (while having a pre-dinner drink outside the front). The pizza is their staple here, pretty delicious and some good combos. Check out the specials board on the back of the restaurant for food, or the front for drinks and desserts.

Bar del Corso is easily at the top of our list for favorite Italian restaurants in Seattle. From the pizza to the small plates to the spritzes and cocktails, it was an amazing meal. We also loved the atmosphere - the buzz in the restaurant is warm and inviting. Make sure not to skip the warm rhubarb polenta cake for dessert!

This place is very cozy and the food and drinks are pretty good. I came here for the first time last November, with my best friend visiting from Mexico. We both were pleasantly surprised of the food quality, staff and atmosphere. We tried the bacalao fritters, some sort of risotto and the burrata; the fritters hands down the favorite. We also got a dessert (pictured) something with quince and it was to die for!

The service was great. The waitress was very kind. The atmosphere was loud but enjoyable. The Funghi pizza that many reviews recommended was pretty basic and not something to look forward too. I made the mistake of ordering the IPA that was on tap, it was gross, smelled like mildew every time I took a drink. The quality of the food and drink discouraged me from ordering anything else.

Great atmosphere in the back patio- felt like being invited to someone’s backyard. Salad was light and fresh, meatballs are quite Smokey from the pancetta but tasty if that’s you’re thing with a nice sauce. Pizza looks AMAZING but just tastes good, which was a bit of a let down. Maybe more sauce needed? Relaxed atmosphere and in a nice neighbourhood.

Great antipasti. The fried risotto and cheese balls were flavorful. The pizza here comes with a scissor to cut it with. What fun!
