I’m traveling from Washington D.C. for a family event and I’m lodging at the Marriott hotel connected to The Grand Plaza. I wanted to get my nails done and this salon was the closest to the hotel. I walk into the salon and I tell the receptionist that I wanted an acrylic fill and regular pedicure. She walks me over to the nail technician who was on her cellphone. The middle age woman, who never said her name, looked at me and said, “what is this gel or acrylic nails?” I told her that I have acrylic overlay over my real nails and I would like a fill. She looked at my nails and said, “I don’t do your kind of nails, they are too long.” I told her she can cut them. Then she said she doesn’t do my shape nails (coffin) and that I’ll be unhappy and she doesn’t feel comfortable doing my “kind” of nails. She then told I should have called first with an attitude. I told her ma’am I do not live here and that I’m traveling and I wanted to get my nails done for an event I’m attending in the city. She then stated as her last ditch effort to deny me service, it’ll take her a long time and I wouldn’t want to wait. It was 12:30 pm and my event isn’t until 7 pm. I told her that and that we had plenty of time. She then shook her head and reiterated that I’ll be unhappy and again she doesn’t feel comfortable doing “my” kind of nails. Finally, I laughed because it became clear that she did not want to service me. Not the style of my nails but me as a young black woman. To be denied service because of my race, was jarring and hurtful. Thankfully I just got my nails done and I’m currently getting a pedicure after traveling several minutes from the hotel I’m staying to Shine Nail & Spa! The ladies here was welcoming and accommodated me without “calling” first. Even though Shine Nail & Spa had customers in their salon currently being serviced and Barbra Salon & Spa didn’t have anyone being serviced at the time I walked in. If you’re a person of color I wouldn’t recommend this salon. And if you’re a person who support service for all people I wouldn’t recommend this establishment. I’m very disappointed in their poor treatment and denial of service.

The pedicure I got was great!  My cut & color, not so much.  The lady doing my hair spoke very little English and didn't understand what I wanted, even though I showed her pictures. She ended up just doing a trim which isn't what I wanted.  On top of that my hair color was wrong and is ALREADY fading after only 1 1/2 wks. I didn't shampoo it for 6 days and used cool water on my hair and yet I am still losing color after each shower.  I can wring my hair and see a bunch of color come with it. It's even stained the pillows and bath towels.  I dye my hair often and know that this amount of color loss is not normal. So I ended up paying over $200 for a color that will maybe last 3 weeks. Ridiculous.  I had also called to schedule my appointment and when I arrived later they did not have it in the schedule book. Frustrating. I did not bring my concerns up with them after a few days because hardly anyone there spoke English well enough for them to understand my complaint.

Located in The Grand strip mall is this hidden gem! The owner is so good she has that fantastic energy that will make you consistent. Let me just say the prices are very expensive and prepared to spend a good amount of money (I spent $500) The acrylic nails were made with love and was thin and petite like they should be with really cool designs! $240 plus tip. They last a long time(pic5) The guy had never done install before and he melted the wig cap properly, my baby hairs layed - bring your own sample size products. (Pic 1/2) Before that I needed my hair washed and dried to take out the tape in glue that had been left over (pic 3) my hair was silky smooth and he was gentle since I have European hair. The wig was pricey I paid 250 which is way more than most recent ones but I came in last minute and it’s a service they don’t usually offer. This is definitely the salon to go to she has a crystal crown you can take pictures with it was a great experience!

VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I spent $125 at this nail spa came back to get my discount that they offered to me since I was staying at the Marriott hotel , that THEY forgot to honor and the lady told me she wasn’t honoring it at all even though they remembered me getting my services done by them. The lady started getting real rude towards me when I reminded her that a lot of money was spent by me and the people I was traveling on the cruise with. I asked for a manager, she didn’t want to give me one.She didn’t want to give me her name when I asked her for it either. NEVER AGAIN WILL I COME HERE AND I WILL MAKE SURE NO ONE DOES WHEN WE COME BACK TO MIAMI NEXT YEAR Too much money being spent by us to get talked to any kind of way...ALSO THEY RIP YOU OFF , they would quote you a cheaper price but would charge you more after the services are finished

what experience? I made an appointment as a resident of The Grand - hoping to find my (and six other people) new "go to place" - for my weekly hair touch ups, blow outs, nails, etc. I showed up, the girl had taken someone else in my appointed time. They moved me to another appointment at 2:30 p.m. The stupid girl saw me in there waiting - and said nothing. She then starts ANOTHER person right at 2:27 p.m.; thus avoiding having to do my nails. Good job genius! You could have had me, six other people that live here AND a hefty tip for taking me in. RUDE RUDE RUDE - No apologies, etc. Her nails looked so bad though that my nails probably would have turned out like crud! I am going to send "Tabitha" into that salon to show you all how to work! Actually work, not pretend work

I made arrangements months before my wedding to get my hair and make up done here along with my bridesmaids and mother. They assured me there would be enough people in the morning to get everyone done with more than enough time to board our cruise ship. They were all late, the hair looked nothing like what the girls wanted and they didn't have enough time to do anything to my moms hair. They said its bad traffic in Miami and thats why the "team" of people they promised would be there was only 2 women.... maybe since you live there and know this, leave earlier? Such a stressful way to start your big day :( On the positive side, everyone loved their make-up!

I love the owner of this salon. Barbra is majestic, her salon is vibrant, and her barbers are top skilled. Paco took care of me there; when I expressed the desired hairstyle, he more than met my expectation. It felt like I was in the care of a celebrity hairstylist inside a celebrity salon. If you desire a celebrity hairstylist with the glamour of allure for an economical price, then you must stop by at Barbara’s Salon and Spa. I hope she greets and welcomes you the way she greeted and welcomed me — bombacious, vivacious, and jubilant! Amazing atmosphere! Love Barbra! Love Paco! Love my haircut!

This is being my favorite hair salon and spa for over 7 years! And I’m very picky with my hair and my nails! I always leave with a smile on my face.. I do my hair and my nails while I enjoy good music and nice environment! They always offer you something to drink and they’re all very nice! Plus the salon is located in one of the best spots (doubletree hotel on the bay/the grand)! You can tell they know what they’re doing! I’ve recomended this salon to many of my friends and now they’re regulars! I would never go somewhere else! :) totally and 100% recomended !

I was staying at the hotel next door. I went at Barbra Salon with the representation that blow dry would be $35. When drying my hair the hairdresser insisted that it would be better to also use curling iron to straightened my hair, better in Miami humidity she said, so she did. At the cash $15 was added because she used curling iron. It was hairdresser’s proposal and she should have told me it was an additional charge of $15. In addition the use of the iron saved her time. Final result was average, not good, not bad. Nice decor with poor respect to visitors.

I am a professional Event planner with a very busy schedule I love Barbra’s staff, Maria is wonderful with pedicures I called her “doctor”, very patience. I’ve never had a problem with appointments or last minute appointments, very accommodating, which is much appreciated. When I first started going there I had a boy’s cut and their stylist had worked with me every month to help me grow it in a nice way. I love what he’s done so far. Their products are A+. Please don’t expect “cheap”. Excellent service, excellent products and master stylers are not cheap!

My appointment with Jairo Diaz was for 11 am. Arrived 5 minutes before and checked in. It was my first time and chose him based on profile reviews on Instagram. There were to clients before me pending to finish their haircut done. JD finished with both of them @1215. When he was done didn’t acknowledge I was next, and prepared to leave. I asked if he knew I had an appointment with him at 11 am and he just walked out of the Salon didn’t excused himself. All his co-workers were in disbelieve of what happened and the way he treated his customer.

After so much overthinking, finally went ahead with coloring my hair and I couldn’t have asked for better partners in the journey than Paco and Elliot. They made it so simple and made so much effort to make me not nervous. They were super nice to me throughout and encouraging. I'm so glad I had them on this journey and the result was soo amazing! I'm so happy I went ahead with this and Paco and Elliot are by far the best guys I had the chance to work with and they are so good at their job and the sweetest people! Definitely recommend it!

Rosmery Hidalgo a worker from this place did something wrong to my nails that it’s been three months and still I haven’t been able to paint my nails again since the bad job she did to my finger nails. OMG PLEASE BE ADVISED DO NOT MAKE YOUR NAILS WITH THIS LADY who obviously dosent know how to do her job. I don’t know how is she working because obviously she has not idea of how to work with nails. She cut so badly my cuticles than my fingers started to swell and hurt I had to go to the hospital because of this lady .

I called them on Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM and ask if they could take me at 12PM. They did!! When I got there they sent me to Maria. Maria was super friendly and very patient with me. I changed my mind about the polish color like more than 5 times. She didn't look annoyed,, she was very professional and kind. At the end she did OUTSTANDING job on my toes and nails as well. Highly recommend her ! Great comfy place and Maria is the BEST!!!! This pace also taking care of your parking ticket if you Valet there.

Odalys and Lusia are great hairstyles at the salon. Any time you are in the Miami area stop by there and get a Service. They have a blowout sales for 35.00$ which includes a shampoo, conditioner treatment, and blow drop. No matter how much hair you have they get the job done. They are on time with walk Ins and appointments. I would definitely go back to them any time . They did a wonderful job on my hair and my mother’s hair . The salon is very nice , neat, and clean .

Stay Away!!!! Most painful hot towel shave of my life, a rusty knife would have given a smoother shave. Had missed spots all over and plenty of nicks, I did a better job the first time I ever shaved when I was just a kid. The haircut was not much better, had to go over it with my own clippers to even it out afterwards. If I would have known how bad it would be I would have paid the $55 for them to not touch my hair or face. You have been warned.

On February 20th, my wife had her makeup done by Honey who works at the salon. When I picked her up from her appointment, I did not recognize her for she was even more beautiful than when I dropped her off !!! I was so amazed by the result of her makeup artist that I parked my car and went in to give Honey an extra tip. I thanked her for making my wife so happy

I have been going to this salon for a couple years. Annette cuts and styles my hair. She takes her time and is very detail oriented. I am very happy with her professional service each time I visit. I recommend anyone needing a haircut, or a blow out, a dye, whatever your hair needs are. Visit her, you wont be disappointed. This woman deserves a raise.

Barbra salon and spa is amazing!! I did like a make over, got an ombré a hair cut, everything. I can honestly say I’ve never been so happy with a hair cut In my life. The hair dresser coco knows exactly what he’s doing and I’m honestly so so thankful, I look amazing. Everyone is so nice and polite, I will definitely be coming back recommend 100%

I only went in for an eyebrow wax, which honestly is overpriced for $15. It's amazing to me that the eyebrow wax is almost half the cost of their $35 blow out. The staff seemed nice enough and the lady who did my waxing was very nice and engaged in some small talk with me. My eyebrows look okay though they look more like cousins than siblings.

Great experience! Was in town for an event and was having a hard time finding a barber that did not have a complicated appointment process. Found Barbra nearby my hotel and was very pleased. Jairo gave me the perfect haircut, hot towel shave, and even styled my hair without asking. Zerra also gave me a great manicure. Highly recommend!

After moving to Miami I searched for a few years for a place that would cut my hair the way I like it. And I finally found the best place in Miami here! I've been going to Barbra for the last 4 years. Annette cuts my hair, she is fantastic. And the owner has purple hair! Annette es la mejor del mundo y la dueña tiene el pelo violeta!

My wife was there on Sunday morning to get her hair done and honestly it was the worst 95 Dollar that I pay blow dry and a simple pony tail to the side it look horrible and the wedding was only a few minutes away and she was so mad the entire time I will never go back to this place or recommend to anyone sorry …

Pedicure was great. I received two injuries during my manicure however and one ripped a decent chunk of skin off along my cuticle line. I hate leaving bad reviews but it still hurts the next day. After it happened she put nail polish remover on it for I don’t know what reason but that certainly did not help either.

Huge language barrier. I made an appointment on my wedding day to have my nails and hair done. When I got there they said they didn't have anyone there to do what I needed done. Panic. They suggested I try Beauty Energy Salon. They helped me out in a pinch.

5 Stars for make-up!!! Honey was so amazing! I had such a good time with her and my make up was done better than ever. I would totally recommend this young lady to do your make up for any occasion. She is so good and you will look so beautiful!

Great spot for man haircut and shave definitely will be back! The price was 30$ for a haircut and the good think is that they validate the parking tickets for 3 hours i payed 5$ parking at the valet! Good customer service …

Over priced haircut. Conditioner used changed in price at the time to pay. My hair was not cut even, one side is longer than the other. The chair where I sat was full of hair. The hair dresser was very pleasant.

Sign on window says 35 dollar blow out get charged me 55 dollars and nobody speaks English. On top of nobody answers the phone so it's annoying to hear it ringing while you in the wash chair. Very overpriced

Great barbers! Julio is great! He really knows how to shape your cut. I love going there. It's looks like their currently under some construction but I'm sure the inside will look even nicer once it's done.

Not very good. I purchased the combo of hair cut and a shave. While the cut was good the shave was not with a lather and razor but rather with an electric shaver. No hot towel was provided.
