This is one of my favorite Barnes & Noble locations! The local area feels very safe and welcoming. The parking lot is very well-kept, the parking spaces are very wide and it’s easy to walk to the store safely. Once you enter the store it is easy to find what you are looking for. Everything in the store is very well organized and the staff are very welcoming and extremely helpful. They have a huge selection of books in stock, but if you are looking for something that’s not in stock they will help you find it in another location or have it shipped to you! One thing I love is the Starbucks inside the store. The Starbucks staff is so helpful, very kind, they make great coffee along with many other mixed drinks. If you have a sugar tooth you are in the right place. I’ve had some of the best cookies in that Starbucks! If you are looking for a good environment to sit down and read a book, have a cup of coffee or tea, meet good people, enjoy a conversation or just relax, than you are in the right place! I am looking forward too spending more time at this Barnes & Noble location.

Haven't been their in years. The store has shifted. They carry more kids stuff, lots of manga, anime, chibi, and american religious direction. I used to love going there for their diversity especially in new age, metaphysical type reading. Now it is geared more towards kids not so much the adult or researcher like me. I think 1/2 price books is better suited for my taste. Though they are slso some what limited though not as narrow as BN has become. But, I guess that is what the net is for. Personally, i hate ordering on the net because you can't fully see the subject covered in the books. But, i guess that is how they make there money. It has all become a gamble when it comes to buying books on the net.

Went in on 04.30.22 and bought a $25 book. About 10 minutes after the purchase and already miles away from the store the cover page of the book came off. Called the store to explain the situation and was told that the only option was to return to the store for a replacement or a refund. I advised them that I would not be able to do that since I was from out of town and would be leaving the next day. Then called the corporate number and was told the same thing. This morning I called a third number, and spoke to Dana who heard my issue and he gladly refunded part of the purchase, without my having to return to the store. Kudos to Dana but horrific customer service from Barnes and Nobles in San Antonuo.

The Barnes and noble bookstore is great! However the cafe is severing lacking. The two women working the cafe, a brunette with glasses and a blonde with glasses, were acting inappropriately (cussing, playing around) in front of customers. When I asked if I could order a blonde roast, the brunette was rude and said “we don’t sell that here!” She then proceeded to act like she knew nothing about the drinks that they sell at this location when I tried to ask for something similar. I asked for whole, regular milk in my drink, and the blonde proceeded to give me coconut milk instead. Very disappointed with the customer service at this location.

This was a nicely organized bookstore with a very good selection of books. I liked how they set up their displays with certain books placed together to make titles easier to find (the classics, books about engineering, and Hobbit/Lord of the Ring books). The toy section was a bit sparse and I did not find what I was looking for (robot and engineering toys). They had a nice gift section and art supply/sketchbook area. The coffee shop area (Starbucks) was spacious and quiet. The store bathroom was pretty gross and not kept up well. I found some nice Christmas gifts for my kids and I also purchase a few books for myself.

The bookstore employees are helpful. I’m not a fan of the apparent “false advertising happening at the cafe though. It certainly looks like a Starbucks with all of the Starbucks logos posted on the walls and is even designed to look like the Starbucks counter. I don’t like this confusing representation. I would not have purchased a coffee here if not for the signage. I could not use or acquire points or pay with my app for this purchase. I was only told that this wasn’t a Starbucks when I tried to pay. This restaurant should make it MORE clear that it is not affiliated with SB.

They were very busy today but had plenty of workers to help customers find books, take care of phone customers, and they had plenty of cashiers. My only negative comment is that the cashiers have never ( in the years I've been going there) asked if a customer has any emailed discount coupons. They never ever ask that, but they always ask about buying a membership card. Otherwise, my experience today, and every other time I've visited, was a pleasant, fun, experience. Other people must have thought so, too, because, like I said, the store was packed.

Nice location, there are no study tables in the actual store usually, your best bet is the cafe they have there. There are only two plug areas available and most of the time people remain at them for hours. The facility is clean and comfortable, the space is very large and contains more books than the location on 281 and San Pedro, granted it does not have as many as the La Cantera location, but less individuals frequent this location for the vast amount of book selections that can be found at the larger location.

We were greeted the moment we walked through the door. Friendly staff and a great selection. I can’t explain what it is about a bookstore, but I always get excited when I visit one. Especially one as clean and friendly as this location. Loved the atmosphere and the children’s section. We weren’t able to find a specific book right away and one of the employees helped us immediately and was able to find it. She even suggested another good series that we ended up buying. Will be returning in the near future!

This may be a chain, but I have found them to be consistently good. You can get a good steak at a decent price, but they have plenty beyond that. Other things to try include the Chicken Laredo, the grilled and fried shrimp, and my personal favorite the chopped steak. And for a spicy appetizer, get the Range Rattlers. My only complaint is that they no longer have any craft beer selections (Shiner Bock is the closest thing). They need better beer to go with their excellent food selections.

  • Catherine Brown

Absolutely love coming here. They have the best sweets and drinks. Always get my double chocolate chip frappuccino from their cafe. Great place to grab a bite or sip and relax while reading a book. They have some awesome book collections here, especially an amazing kid section to check out for those who have kids or nieces and nephews. I can always find some awesome books for the whole family. My boys love the books i get for them here. I would definitely recommend checking them out!!!

I came the morning of the Iron Flame release. It wasn’t that busy. I picked up a couple titles but there was one specific book I couldn’t find so I decided to ask someone for help… BIG MISTAKE. The girl I asked had the worse attitude and acted like she wanted to be anywhere other than there at her job. It was by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Not a “thank you” , “have a good day” or anything of that nature. I won’t be coming back to this location again.

  • Passíon Leon

Collected a *new* book that I ordered online for in-store pick up at the Northwoods Barnes & Noble location. I bought this as a gift which is really disappointing given the condition it is in. The book looks as if it has been throughly read through. (See photos) This would not be a problem had it been from a used bookstore, but the fact that this book is supposed to be new is what bothers me. My cashier, Molly, was exceptional, which is why I am leaving 3 stars instead of 1.

  • Nina

My favorite bookstore!! They have everything!! Was looking 4 a good journing bible and couldn't find the translation I wanted. For a month I went looking all through san antonio..every bookstore in town. I go finally go here and guess what ?! They have it !! I was so happy !! I couldn't even believe it ! It's hard to find good nasb journaling bibles but yet here it it ! It was worth coming from near loyosa to here. Thank u b&n u made me so happy !!

  • Anna SANCHEZ

NO Christmas items were on sale. Only book socks, "barbie" toys, select games and supposedly "all" hard cover books but but we found multiple not on sale. And not all items would give you the members discount. This was the 1st time we ever went B&N and have been very disappointed. And the floor mgr acted like we were bothering her if we asked about the very confusing sales methodology they were practicing. Such a disappointing visit to this store.

It's been years since I walked into a Barnes and Nobles. I'll be honest I purchased a kindle and tried reading ebooks. However I have found that there truly isn't anything as satisfying as holding an actual book and turning its pages. This location is extremely kid friendly with lots of children's books and toy areas. It almost resembles a toy store in the rear of store. Highly recommend bringing your kids and encourage your kids to read.

  • Jared Kelsey

This bookstore is always clean, well organized and very well stocked. I am primarily a Science Fiction reader, and they have a very nicely curated table of new sci-fi releases as well as plenty of bookshelf space and those shelves are stocked thoughtfully, someone has their finger on the pulse of what's happening in the genre. I am impressed by the hard work the staff has put into making the available selections broad and inclusive.

  • Mother Runner

Ample table seating. Friendly baristas. Didnt feel rushed while reading and doing homework. Amazing book selection...of note i am a political conservative and noticed this was one of the few Barnes and Nobles that displayed not just liberal books (about Obama and Kamala) but also conservative books written by Rand Paul and Candace Owens. HUGE puzzle selection...i need to remember this place at Christmas time.

  • David Broussard

While I read almost exclusively on my Kindle due to eyesight, there really is something about a bookstore that is so amazing that we go here and buy things. The game selection is quite good and if you are looking for a family board game this is a great place to find one. The coffee shop is excellent as well and you get your BnN discount on drinks and food. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

  • Jason Biggs

My son and I absolutely love visiting this location. We spend an hour or so looking at books, getting coffee, playing with and then buying puppets. So many pop culture products here. I am thankful for the store and the smell of coffee and paper. The people are always nice at the counter. They comment on the purchases and banter with you. Thanks you guys and gals for a safe and magical space!

  • Stephen Mathis

Love this place since it's nostalgic for me since i use to come here in high school and then college and beyond. Also cause it's one of the last standing brick and mortar's left out of the big chains. Cafe is still a good place to study or read or just relax even though the seats are like 25 years old- no I'm not kidding. Not the same as it was but still the and that's cool.

  • Claudia Carvalho

I spent 2 hours. I did find more than I wanted, though most of it @ reduced prices. A$30 book that interested me might have substituted and lowered the bill, but now I please 3-4 other people with activity books and a special interest magazine. The intellect of a country comes also out of books. Read, read, read - governance ought to subvention knowledge for best sustenance.

  • Dale Miller

We had a nice visit to this B&N. We started with great coffees and blueberry scones at the in-store Starbucks. The super staff there had a warm welcome for us. We love browsing the amazing assortment of books and magazines at these stores, and this one had many sales and good deals. Lots of friendly staff to help you find the perfect gift or good read to fit your style.

  • Teresa Lee

This pandemic Christmas season was bare in the store (customers). Customer service never fails. Bathrooms are always clean. I did not get my usual coffee. The Health & Wellness section finally grew & got organized. No longer a bunch of books slammed together. You can clearly SEE yoga, from living to cooking, coaching to massage, etc. It's my new "happy two sections!"

  • Jeff Ilardi

Great selections, good prices, and easy shopping experience. I did spend some time wandering around looking for the hardback edition of a book. Several employees walked right by me without even asking if I needed help. When I went to checkout there were several people in line, and only one cashier. But they quickly added a second cashier which was great.

  • Michael Briggs

What can one say about Barnes and Noble? They're like the Walmart or a Target of bookstores. By that I mean it's very large and has pretty much everything in it you came for and a bunch of stuff you didn't, but suddenly feel compelled to buy. Haha! Nice place, in-house coffee shop and wi-fi make this a different but fun stop to shop, read or even study.

  • The Prune

First time and last time I will go to this starbucks location. The staff was inept and confused over simple orders. The cashier was unprepared and questioned every action she took as if she was narrating her every move. Our orders were made incorrectly even after they asked for clarification. The staff absolutely needs more training. Will never return.

  • Marci Ramirez

I love BN. The variety of books is excellent. I like that they have so many different genres. Their children's section is large with a variety of books so that even reluctant readers find something they like. We found some books that are completely indestructible for little ones. They are washable and chewable. They honestly can not be destroyed.

  • A Pham

I always have a pleasant experience at this location. The staff always make small talk at the register and are there to help when needed. The customer service desk is also reliable and the cafe staff are quick to take and make orders. The selection is large and there is plenty of seating available at the cafe and in different areas of the store.

  • Alice Reynolds

I have not been in Barnes and Noble since the Covid virus started so it was different. They have rearranged the whole store making smaller grouped sections which I liked. But they now have no place to sit other than the 5 tables at Starbucks. I'm glad they are back to being open just will be happier when I have a place to sit and look at books.

  • Denise J

This is my favorite Barnes & Noble location in town - and yes, I’ve been to all of them. The kids/teen section is a good size, the books and gifts selection is ample and the Starbucks is roomy as well. I like that it never feels really crowded and/or loud, and parking is always available - all of which cannot be said of the LaCantera store.

  • Chad Weber

Nice B&N, pretty typical bright side the staff very nice and helpful! The only downside is the chairs. Most have gone to boring wood kitchen table type chairs. It would be nice to have real soft chairs for people who wanted to sit and read for a few moments. It's probably a smart business model, but it's nice for the consumer.

  • Vanessa Lopez

I love their selection, that they are kid friendly and truly helpful. It's great that they offer discounts (through the membership) on kids books and toys since this is what we typically go in for these days. I will go out of my way to purchase from here, since I can grab coffee/tea and peruse as much as needed.

  • Andy Hughes

I've always loved Barnes & Noble & this one is one of the bigger ones. I think that they have the largest selection of books, magazines, movies & other amazing merchandise for sale at great prices. It's clean & well organized with a great staff of helpful associates. It's always a pleasure to stop by & shop.

  • Edgar Pace

A large book store and more. Journals, basic art stuff, literary themed trinkets for the grandchildren, and quite a nice selection of magazines. Good customer service. On the negative side, the coffee shop is a Starbucks so forget about a good cup of coffee. Unless you like it over roasted and burned.

  • Emery Mitchell

What a lovely place. I called and had a book put on hold so I could pick it up for a Christmas gift, and I was in and out in 10 minutes during the holiday rush. The staff members I interacted with were polite, understanding, and helpful. I would definitely visit this store next time I'm in the area.

  • Becky Schulze

Maddie is a wealth of knowledge if you're interested in the dystopian genre. She lit up and took the time to explain the plot lines of various series and discuss the authors and their writing styles. Her "Blind Date with a Book" is such a cute idea. She's going to make a great educator one day.

  • Ty Manning

Not as big or selective as the La Canterra location, but I always spend at least 30-45 minutes just browsing around even if I already mostly know what’s there. Very easy to get entranced by the sight of tons of books for me. It’s very convenient too since it’s not too far out of my way.

  • Master Puppeteer

They've got an interesting set up here compared to the other two I frequent in my area. I've actually found books I can get behind here somehow even though I'm sure most Barnes & Nobles have the exact same stock. All in all, its a 10/10 for me in this store! Keep up the good work y'all!

  • Angelique

I liked how clean and organized the store was. They have a nice large collection of books and some toys, games and collectibles. I deducted one star because it was a little hard to find someone to help me find a book, everyone seemed busy. Other than that good shopping experience.

  • Damian Arocho

Always a fun time to stop by if you love books or just pop into the café. It's a Starbucks licensed store so you can't use your Starbucks gift cards and they've got some different food items (like Cheesecake Factory cheesecake!) but other than that, their drinks are on point!

  • Alicia Harp

Good afternoon. Great place to get book lol. Love to coming for great book. Is always somthing from where to choose. Great services smile they will help you with smile no problema I here to help you. Gracias. . They have MANGA WOW ask for. …

  • Amy M

I love this location. They have a great variety of not only books but puzzles, games, legos, records, even anime and Harry Potter things. Plus there's a Starbucks inside, so be prepared to spend a long afternoon sipping your coffee while you go through all the great stuff!

  • Leinear Unrai

I usually go to the light novels(manga) as I have been since childhood haha. The books were rearranged to cater those who like to stand nearby and read. This store has always been pretty easy to navigate so there isn't much room for getting lost looking for a set genre.

  • Cassiopeia Nieves

It’s always very clean when I come here. The staff is usually very friendly and patient and helpful. I wish they were more comfortable seating for people they want to stay and and enjoy the ambience longer. Most of the seating is in their extended café area.

  • Ciara Wilson

This is my permanent Barnes & Noble. I have always felt at home here and the Starbucks staff knows my drink by heart. The other staff members are also enthusiastic about their job and they actually seem to like each other and their regulars. I love it here.

  • Bryan Ryder

Love taking my 3 year old here. They have a great kids area, there is also a schedule for readings. The toy area is also very good and convenient since Toys R Us is no longer around . They have a cafe and great customer service. Member perks are nice. …

  • Melisha E

Drinks were great. The barista was awesome. My only small complaint is the lack of customer service skills from the girl at the counter. She looked genuinely annoyed and very impatient when my allergies flared up suddenly and I asked for a glass of water.

  • Lindsey Schaefer

The lady putting out the Christmas puzzles was so helpful and went in the back to check and see if they had a different type for my mom. They had a whole display of Friends items (that's what I came in for) and I was able to stock up on some goodies!

  • Timothy Camplain

Staff here is helpful and kind. The store is clean and well organized. The kids section has a nice little toy area and many reading level books to help the little ones grow into larger more complicated literature. Strongly recommend this book store!

  • Charles McCain

The store was clean and well stocked. Could not find an employee to save my life. Unless they are allowed to wear normal everyday clothes and are not required to wear a name tag. No one at the help desk, no one at the registers. So I walked out.

  • Hommy Rolon

Can always trust to find what I’m looking for, go so often they know mebut the smell of books is soooo intoxicating and they keep up with the latest releases, if only they would have up to date toys, not too many different options for kids …

  • David Martinez

Went in to get a book for my five year old niece. So many books but have to really look through each book to figure out which books are good at certain reading levels. There needs to be a list or kiosk of what books are good for which age level.

  • Trudy Barnum

Always good. Helpful. Knowledgeable. Nice to see this bookstore full of people who still read. Evidently, the coffee place in the building is not Starbucks, even though they hang Starbucks posters and use Starbucks coffee cups. Confusing, yes?

  • graciela ciccarelli

Love my B&N store, great location, just wish I could of used my 20% off any purchase coupon more than once on same day, same store and only minutes from my first purchase, I forgot to get my book light when I bought 3 books, so after I

  • Kriolu Kauverdianu (CVMDUS)

Large, comprehensive bookseller where you can browse to your heart’s content until you find the perfect book to sweep you away or anchor in your world. You can also enjoy a cup of Joe, sip a latte or savor a tasty treat at the cafe.

  • Jess Lara

This location - Northwoods 281/1604 - is always great! Staff is super friendly and the cafe, despite only two outlet spots, is one of the best study spots in the area. You can quickly tell the regulars lol, we're there all the time!

  • Cynthia Howard

I love this place. Coffe , atmosphere and they have a selection for any taste and budget. I Iike the Spanish section as well. I couldn't decide what to get for my boys so I purchased 2 gift cards and checked out really fast.

  • Linda

Barnes & Nobles always a great place. I can get lost for hours just looking & trying not to buy too many books!! I usually fail . Also a great place to send my grandchildren with gift cards, they are also book lovers! …

  • Thomas Galindo

Good variety of children's books, and we'll organized. They also have a large assortment of books on sale or clearance. The coffe from Starbucks smells wonderful making it very hard not to buy a drink while browsing.

  • Richard Davis

This place is too cool. We take the kids and always have a good time whether anything is bought or not. The attached Starbucks gives you something to do while perusing what ever interest is sparked that day.

  • Zachary Zagnoni

Always a great experience at Barnes and Noble. The atmosphere, book selection, miscellaneous items, and customer service are always top notch. Plus the smell of fresh coffee reading a book is always a plus.

Clean, tidy and good variety! B&N will help find what book or natetial you cannot find. Highly recommended for families since it has a nice children's book section where parents can read to the little ones.

  • Kathy Trevino

Very nice staff!!! A man named Leo helped us to find some self help books, a journal.Thank you again Leo!!! We also got 10% off our balance, that was awesome . Beautiful store!!! Very satisfied …

  • Tommy Lebowitz

It's okay. The staff are kind of weird and not very friendly and it would be nice if I could actually charge my computer, but there were no places to plug in at the starbucks they had inside the store.

  • Nicole Jackson

It has good sections to browse. I found a pocket dictionary. I especially liked the Starbucks in the store. It was not too expensive. The atmosphere is very stimulating and they sell records, too.

  • K Khurana

Bookstores are always fun! This is one of the bigger ones I have been too.. sorry only 3 stars cause most of the books I wanted weren't available. They have a large kids section which is awesome

A go to for any reading aficionados. If you're looking for a great selection of books from how to's to training courses, manga to fiction, and so much more barnes and nobles is the place to go.

  • Lori Latiolais

I love book stores, but I miss the old B&N that had nice chairs to sit and peruse the books and people around to help. It was hard to find help, but easy to find over-priced coffee and cookies.

  • Rosa Davis (ShaRo)

Love this Barnes and Noble, the location as well as how much light shines through their huge glass windows. Makes it enjoyable to sit for anread either in the store or their starbucks section.

  • Bennett Ramirez

This B&N has been around for at least 15 years. When I enter, I'm always met with a nostalgic smell of coffee and chocolate. It's my go-to place when I have downtime and want to browse books.

  • Renee Rendon

Even with all the fancy electronic gadgets we have nowadays, nothing beats reading, feeling, and smelling a brand new paper book. I rarely leave Barnes & Noble without buying something.

  • Andrea Watts

I LOVE bookstores. BN is a fave. This location was well stocked and picking up my online order was super simple. The guy at the register was very nice and there wasn't a line.

  • Cameron C

It has an excellent selection of both books and games. I've gone a couple of times to wait for various reasons, and it has nice tables and chairs that you can sit at to read.

  • Jay French

Was so happy to see this still open and thriving! This was a childhood hang for me and it’s much like I remember, with a bigger toy section for the kiddos.
