Beautiful park with nice splash pad and great swimming pool in two different areas. Love the preservation of the historic Pecan Springs! Fascinating part of Texas colonial history is acknowledged with the large granite monument near the intersection of West 51st Street and Berkman Drive. Even though this house was built a year after statehood, The monument memorializes Thomas J. Christian and William Strother, who were murdered and scalped by Comanches in 1833 at Pecan Springs. Josiah Willbarger survived and lived on to have a county named for him. Christian headrighted 4,600 acres in nearby Bastrop County, which he applied for as an 1832 immigrant in Austin’s Little Colony. Christian Christian’s wife Mary, a true hale and hearty Texas pioneer, farmed and ranched the property for many decades after his death and the 1836 death of her second husband. The 1847 Mary Christian Burleson house is Elgin’s oldest structure and is an important testament to the pioneer spirit of the Christian and Burleson families and an inspirational part of our early Texas history. Kudos to the Mary Christian Burleson Foundation for working so hard to preserve this history.

This is our favorite swimming pool spot so far and will be even better when the kiddo grows a few more inches for the water run and water slide attractions. The deeper pool was mostly empty when we visited on a Friday (1-5 pm) unlike the other two that are more for young children who seem to be drawn to shallow splashpad- 4 ft water levels. Those two were a little crowded for me. The lifeguards seemed nice, they kept everyone in order- no running, no standing in the lap pool, no pushing, etc. One of the lifeguards even suggested to the kiddo that he take a water break because he had seen him in the pool for awhile. I sincerely appreciated his attentiveness. We are definitely going back for the deep pool and the diving board and next Summer, the slide and the water run. It's a great place to let the kiddo explore on his own when he feels like messing around in the splash pad or socializing with other children.

The fields use to look great.. Soccer/football field were fully functional with a watering system.. New group knows 0 about the systems and have 0 time to ensure watering is done correctly without Breaking antiquated system. Keep the dogs off the fields and on a leash when around the ball fields and hope the transients are on their Meds and have their clothes on. Fields are NOT for rent and are not for Adults but they jump the fence or cut the locks to pro a point. PARD made a huge mistake and it's a transient hangout now. Atleast doing field maintenance at night kept them away and Shadybrook and the west end parking lot clear of "lovers"..
Playground
Please watch your children PEDS are amongst the transients.. Not being mean just truthful..

This park has recently had long overdue maintenance and general groundskeeping done, no doubt due to the influx of rich young white people have snapping up homes all over the neighborhood. It was never a bad park, not known for "shadiness", it has just been underutilized and poorly maintained. Theres some nice space for big family picnics. It's big, and I love the disc golf course even though I don't participate in the sport, because everyone is usually mellow and friendly, and thers scattered picnic tables to sit and write and draw. And hey. We even got fancy new signs!

  • Josiah Chapman

Open spaces perfect for dog walking or an array of athletic activities. The disc golf course is my highlight. Although a little overgrown at points, it’s a fun, secluded, engaging 15 hole course. The park also offers basketball courts, tennis courts, a small family water park, playgrounds, walking trails, baseball fields, soccer fields, and lots of open space relatively close to downtown. I give it a 3/5 only because the Austin parks department should do a better job with general maintenance and upkeep. Regardless, worth a visit!

  • Rock Schouman

This part could be an absolute treasure, but the severe lack of upkeep and amount of trash is off the chart. Old mattresses, styrofoam trash, trash bags, shopping carts, tents, homeless camping trash, and everything else you can think of distributed all throughout this amazingly beautiful Park. The disc golf course could be great, but it's missing three holes. And the creek crossings are treacherous and dangerous. it's an absolute shame that the City of Austin hasn't done a better job with this historic Park.

The outdoor roller skating rink is smooth, flat and great for practicing. There are trails nearby and a small creek running through the park. Frisbee golf goes all over the park and you can see people playing most nice days . The park is dog and kid friendly. There are some tables for sitting and eating as well as some outdoor bbq areas for cooking. The are bathrooms near the roller rink but they are closed as of May 2021 because of covid.

  • KK

My son played tball here in 2016. The scheduling was off, multiple times for practice the fields were locked. The bathrooms are almost always locked, even during games. Occasional flooding after heavy rains. The playground isn't huge, but it's in good shape and great place for a birthday party for kids. I believe there are walking/biking trails/paths in area but I have only spent extensive time near the ball field.

  • Theresa Thomas

My grandkids all five of them all boys and my three little nieces had a great time they were swinging and they was going down the slide they was running around we was even able to see a nice respectable no fighting no violence no cussing kickball game going on it's a nice park during the summer you have swimming play ball your kids can run around can have fun I'm overall it's a great place to go

  • eiliethyia littlejohn

1st time at this park, it has so many sections. A community pool, basketball court, beautiful areas for picnics and even a skateboard area. I saw so many beautiful families help navigate their young children around nature and instantly knew this was a place I could take my children. Also there's families with pets but so far all pups has been friendly. This is an all around great park.☺️

  • Salvador Sarias

great place in day.just at night too much ilegal acts going on .people having relations in cars .and doing there buisness.and leaving evidence in parking lot .and this is family park where small children come to play baseball to be seeing stuff like there on parking grounds is gross and uncalled for .being that its all pitch dark at night thats why people take advantage of it.

  • Matthew Noal

The new disc golf course refresh has made a big difference for this park! The course has a full 18 holes, with some good variety and iconic tees! With the addition of alternative tee boxes this is a course that can appeal to any player, though it is on the shorter side in general. I thoroughly enjoyed my game, and plan on visiting again and again!

  • Gary Wende

Been a while since I played a round of disc golf at Bartholomew. Lots of old memories of golfers that are no longer with us. Out of shape I am, so probably not a good idea to try and play a full round in 90 degree weather. Made a turbo put birdie on one hole, dont know what #. Posting a pic of birdie in progress. Photo taken by Orlando Pereida.

  • Alan McGill

#12daysofchristmasaustintx Played Disc Golf here a while back. Pretty challenging course, lots of water hazards, although we did go the morning after a thunder storm! The layout was pretty confusing and we ended up getting a bit lost and skipping 6-7 of the holes so I'd recommend going with someone who knows the course if it's your first time.

  • Naomi Surita

I have been going to this disc golf course since 2011 with my husband. I would have given 5 stars, but nowadays it seems this place has turned more into a dog park which is difficult sometimes when people don't realize they are standing right in the middle of the course. Also a lot of dog owners are not picking up after their dogs!

  • dc riley

The park has temporary clothes signs posted around the park. The park was empty and was nobody there so for me and my kids it was nice. I like that park best because it's for small children as well as big kids. The play equipment is separate. That's very important to me because my child is 2 years old and my 5 year old

  • Roger Dinarte

I love taking my dogs here to walk around. Would be nice if the city would update this park, there are homeless that basically live here, mainly near the playground and the is always trash through out the a a park. Only the fields are maintained. This park can be as nice as Mueller if it was cleaned up 100% better.

  • Candice A Tucker

A lot of homeless people are sleeping on the majority of the benches. Everything needs some maintenance and serious cleaning. Dried up "white puke" on play area.
Playground
Equipment is neglected
Restrooms
Porta-potties only
Picnic area
Would be nice to use if people weren't sleeping on them.

  • Grace McDonald

A big, spacious park, perfect for letting the pup off the leash for a while. The creek has a lot of trash in it, but I'm thinking of organizing a small trash clean-up to fix this issue. When I'm leaving, turning left on Berkman is nearly impossible, so I started parking in the lot down farther on 51st.

  • Michael's workshop

Love the disc golf course, not always the best maintained by the city but the waterloo club does a good job when they can.
Dog-friendliness
Super spacious and usually a good few dogs typically very well behaved and plenty of room in the park
Picnic area
Picnic tables scattered throughout

  • Matt Powers

If it wasn't for the bum trash all along the waterways, this would be one of the nicest courses in Austin. Great variety of shots. Recently was redesigned for some baskets on the back 9, probably for the better. New tee pads too are pretty cool. Oldest disc golf park in Texas, BTW. NOT cart friendly.

  • Eric Andruscavage

It's large with lots of parking and several sports fields, as well as disk golf and a splash pad. A number of vagrants live in the park but normally near the entrance. Some trash from the vagrants but generally very clean. Leash signs but a number of people walk their dogs off leash in the mornings.

  • Laffing Booda

Disc Golf and Roller Skating anyone? But seriously it's a great little park for getting some sunshine and people watching or just getting outside. Awesome disc golf course that has been there for ages and a new little skating arena that's put to use by a healthy number of people. Get out there

  • Julie Figueroa Camacho

It's a good family place but unfortunately one section is close .Free parking, a few tables to place your belongings, showers, and bathrooms . But go early because it is not a big place and during the summer more people are going . And during summer it is very cheap the entrance to the pool.

  • Isamar Flores

There can be several homeless sleeping around the area which makes it uncomfortable for kids to play around the park. It has multiple swings available and a lot of space with trees to run around, also they have a water park around the corner which can be refreshing on a sunny day!

  • Maurice Artis

Went to watch my granddaughter play a kickball game. Was impressed with how clean the porta potties were. Was surprised that the entire park was clean. Even the field where they played was in great shape. Cant wait til next weeks game to return. Pats on the back to all park staff

  • Frank Shealy

me and my family enjoyed it but the splash pad needs maintenance a lot of people were disappointed that the splash pad was not working properly please help how do we go about getting help for the Splash Pad but overall my son still managed to have a great time peace and love

  • Gorge STR8

Love the pool. Two cool sides. My kids Love it. The bball courts u can find A game going any week end. The Park on the other side.. Had many Partys there. A lot of baseball fields Disc frisby. Nabors there. Walk there dogs Close to corner store and Shoping center Is a plus.

  • Sam Dorsey

I would have gave it four stars but they need three more Disc Golf hole baskets. Actually the whole Park complex itself I give it 4 and 1/2 Scott the pool Tennis Courts at turned into a skating rink and it keep it pretty trimmed up that's about all I got to say about that

  • Dani Ladik

Specifically I go there to use the derby track to skate. I love it there! Other than it not having any shade, it's a great place to roll on four wheels! The surface is very smooth. Usually it's not very crowded and there's plenty of space for everyone to skate safely.

  • wynnie denny

Updated December 2020... The course has gotten cleaned up considerably! The water is clean, grass mowed, brush cleared. Definitely adding this course to my rotation again. Great course with some very cool concept holes in DIRE NEED OF MAINTENANCE AND TRASH CLEAN UP

  • Brendonian Bibbalicious

Oldest disc golf course in Austin did not disappoint! Needs a little bit of TLC and it could be be a potential hot spot for minis and or tournaments. Highly recommended, not necessarily a beginner course. Very technical and tight lines through many trees and OBs.

  • Matthew Sivright

Only fifteen holes. Some water hazards. The trail between holes suck. No real walkway and you can easily slip and get your shoes wet. Only single chain baskets. Trash all along the creek. My least favorite course in Austin. It's still worth playing though.

  • Alek Kersten

Great hidden gem to take the pups and you can get a nice stroll in too! Disc golf is scattered throughout for some added entertainment. Well maintained (except the creek) and nice picnic areas as well. Avoid the water it looks almost bio-hazard like.

  • Andre Alexander

This park provides a great space for kids to play and run around. From the playscape to the swimming pool to the picnic area, everyone can find something to entertain themselves and their kids. Great place for party celebration or just a kids' play date.

  • Ruben Louro

What an amazing city park. Best I have ever veen too. Water Leap Frog Water Slides Lap Pool and fun fountains. The locker rooms are clean and the life guards are helpful and very reaponsible. Probably the best muniopal pool i have ever been to.

  • Chris Villanueva

I went to do a organized park clean up. Before that it has been years since I had been there. It is still a very nice park. It has basketball courts, swimming pool, baseball fields and a disc golf course. Which is the oldest course in Austin.

  • Kayla MacMullen

Love this park! There are multiple playgrounds for different ages. Swings for infants and up. A hike and bike trail, basket ball courts and fields for soccer or baseball. The splash pad is a favorite of ours as well when the weather is right!

  • Bex Villarreal

The splash pad is nice, as is the two larger play scapes. Unfortunately, the toddler area is kind of grubby and there are two really awful muddy spots near the splash pad. Thankfully they did fill in the giant pot holes in the parking area.

  • Chrystina Edwards

Its a large neighborhood park, but the restrooms have been out of service for 3 years. They only have port-a-potties. I have also seen obscener graffiti on the toddler playscapes, and broken glass on numerous occasions.

  • Fair Skylls (Monbonica)

This park is blessing to this part of the city. It has everything. A year round pool that's heated ever so slightly so you don't die, basket ball court, tennis court, trails, walking, running, roller skating and more!

  • Taylor Nabors

This public pool was always super clean! It feels and looks brand new, and I was very impressed with the facilities. My son did swimming lessons here through Austin Parks and Rec, and we had a wonderful experience.

  • David Shelton

So many amenities! Some closed for covid19 or the winter season but I didn't know there was a splash feature and a pool with slides. Slides aren't open not two of three polls but there's free swimming inn January!

  • Jacob Kingford

Well maintained and peaceful. Great place to take your dogs, go disc golfing, have a family event or just take some time to relax and enjoy the view. I would definitely suggest visiting if you are in the area.

  • Andrea Wagnon

Beautiful park with lots to do. It's clean and has great parking. Lots of trees and a nice pool, splash pad and family areas. Picnicking and Frisbee golf. Walking paths and places to lounge on grassy knolls.

  • Sarah Cebrian

Busy but the lifeguards are very diligent. Some people were upset bc the lifeguards are serious about rough housing and running but I prefer that to the alternatjce when there are so many kids and families.

  • Khang Tran

This nice little park was where a friend hosted a small birthday party for their daughter, and it was pretty nice. The area itself was pretty nice and seemed to be well-kept, so that's all you can ask for.

  • Elgin Lahrmann

It's one of the premier parks in Austin. Hiking. Pool. Basketball courts. Tennis and something that other parks don't have...a super slide that's huge! Kids will love this park...especially the slide!

  • Kanaan Lear

I believe this is the oldest Disc Golf Course in Texas. It's a 15 hole with mostly medium to short fairways. Moderate trees with a couple water hazards if the creek is running. Always a great time.

  • Isidore McNally

It's A Moderate Size Skate And Frisbee Golf Park. Smaller Than I Had Anticipated, But Adequate. I Was With Friends And It Served Our Of Getting Out And Enjoying The Crisp Evening Air & Having Fun.

  • Joshua Winters

Great place for young and older kids. The pool is clean, fun, and shaded. There's a nice section for toddlers and babies. Also, a fun slide for the older kids. It's very reasonably priced too.

  • Cindy M

Great park and water park. Just be aware as there are residents/homeless that stay by the restrooms and under the pavilions. I didn't feel super safe going alone with young children.

  • kentisha richardson

This park was a nice size. It seemed clean until i saw a dad letting his son pee in the area where kids were running barefoot! Other than this my kids had fun and it was well shaded

  • Alfredo Anzaldua

Not a good part of the year with so much seasonal vegetation that makes it very difficult from losing a disc but still a great place to get a few safe throws and a pleasant hike...

  • Sandra Wilcox

The heated pool in winter is wonderful. Trashcans in the picnic area are often overflowing. The playground area is perfect for little ones. Love the trees and flowers and trails.

  • Quincy Wilson

Nice spot to take your kids, have a picnic or a family or church gathering. Has a pool, water park and playground. Covered areas to protect you from sun and plenty of trees.

  • Bridget Ramos

I really like this park. There are various playgrounds for different ages. Lots of swings, and there is even a splash pad! Very conveniently located, with lots of parking.

  • Dc Charles

Very safe park and I take my kids there all the time. Very clean as well. It has 2 park, baseball field and basketball courts. It's also a water park there as well.

  • Leonardo Vara

Great for family with kids! Lap area is small but suffice if you really want to workout. Diving board is a fun rarity and slide and obstacle course is a nice bonus.

  • David Taylor

Its a great park if your into the whole Frisbee Golf thing. In which I am not. Personally I play real golf. Just kidding. Its cool. Dont go to the bathrooms though.

  • Beth Ward

Clean facility, great amenities, staffed really well for all activities during the summer. During fall/winter/spring it's a open, and heated for lap swimming only.

  • Michael Brown

This is a great course. I've been playing here for over 25 years. My round yesterday was s**t, but that was my fault. I still had a great time with my buddies.

  • Marie Ford

Lovely park situated on 51st St in Austin,Tx. Features a playground, public swimming pool, roller derby practice rink, walking trails and a disc golf course!

  • auburn bain

Great pool. Kids have a blast every time we go. I'd like the slides to be open more although there is a good amount of space and activities for everyone.

  • Adam Assad

This is a beautiful park with a stunning atmosphere! I’d say it’s great place to take the kids and relax a bit. Clean and friendly place! 5/5 stars!

  • Grace Roque

10 ft deep pool, 7ft deep pool, kids can dive in on both pools. Waddle pool, slide. they keep restrooms clean and stocked. 3 dll entrance fee.

  • J G

Great pool, excellent for swimmers as well as young children. It has almost a resort feel. Lots of lifeguards who were very attentive.

  • Ram G

Great park to take our new member of the family for a walk, water fountains are still shut off, water bottle is a must to bring along

  • Myles Jeffrey

Good park with lots of things for children to do, but much of it is well-worn. The picnic tables could use a good pressure-washing.

  • April Valencia

My son loves playing here. When summer is here they have a splash pad available. It's a great place to take the kids to play …

  • Selwyn Polit

Nice green space. Good for walking the dog. Frisbee golf players only get moderately irritated by pedestrians. Dog is a huge fan!

  • Lisa Starr

Nice and quiet... disc golfing is fun here.., also many people rollerblade at the court. Wish there were more parking spaces tho.

  • Stephanie Gump

They had a nice water spout ish thing going on it was very smart as it's so hot they can cool down by running the the water.

  • Frank Marciel

Great place for a kids party since they have a smaller park and a big one. The splash pad is cool especially if its hot.

  • Sam Mohler

I feel so blessed to have a warm outdoor pool to swim laps even during the winter. The lifeguards are friendly too.

  • Deanne Croan

  • Lequita Daniels

My kids really enjoyed their time spent here!! Can't wait to go back and play with the splash pad!!

Super fun disc golf course. LOTS of trash in the creek though and super sketchy water crossings

  • shadowspawn ss

A very safe, fun, and clean waterpark. Lifeguards everywhere, rotating shifts. Great family fun

  • isaiah goodley

It's a lovely park. The homeless agree. One star less due to the constant propositioning.
