I’ve already reviewed this shop below last year, (details below), but have added to it following a service) Google won’t allow you to leave further reviews… only amend the original. Found this bike shop by fluke. Needed a derailleur fitting urgently. Have them a call and I was surprised at the amazing price. The shop was actually closed due to them working on a back log but the owner asked me to pop down and he would fit me in. He was such a genuine, honest guy who just wanted to provide you with a decent service rather than Rip you off. He’s defo got my custom moving forward and I would certainly recommend them to anyone. (Edited review due to my bike getting a service a year or so later) I can’t add anything further to the above, as I’d just be repeating myself and Google won’t let me write another review, however I put my bike in for a full service on 11th March 2022. I knew John would provide an amazing service but he surpassed my expectations. He went above and beyond the tasks he said he was going to sort out. When I picked my bike up, it was genuinely like new. It was all gleaming. It runs amazingly much better. He even put a new back gear cog on it, which wasn’t part of the service. They guy is a legend and so genuine, and fair. Highly recommended I wish I had a picture of my bike before I put it in for a service, but here is the after photo…. Believe me it’s like a new bike, in comparison.

Hi guys, I just wanted to inform everyone not to fall for the trap in buying products from an online store pretending to be Bernard Bicycles. As John has said, he does not operate a website and does not offer UK delivery as this fraudalent website claims. The scam goes as far as using Johns reputable businesses and even registering an invoice with details to his address. I nearly got caught out by this from a fraudulent website claiming to be Bernard cycles after they asked me to pay via bank transfer. If in doubt, call John, i am sure he is willing to help you.

Went in on a friends recommendation. John helped me choose a second hand bike. He gave me a price for it to be ready for me collect in a week. He had to wait for parts so it took a little longer than expected. I was absolutely made up when I went in to see it. He had replaced so much it was like a new bike ! New Tyres,cables, hubs, pedals, break blocks ! He prides himself of getting any bike ready for a customer as if he was getting it ready for himself. Amazing bike shop with first class service. I now have a lovely Dawes Touring bike for amazing price !

Bought my bike from bernards for a fantastic price and had a wonderful experience. Recently damaged my chain and had to get it fixed, I expected a few days wait which would be understandable at this time but he told me 40 mins which was excellent. He fixed my bike perfectly and now it's running like a dream. I would recommend anyone who needs a bike or wants repairs to head to bernards, fantastic customer service and overall the nicest, friendliness guy iv ever met. If I need anything for my bike I will be heading back.

Bought a new bike from Tredz Bikes online. There were quite a few issues with the build. As they are based in Wales, it was a no go. I sent John a text. He asked me to drop the bike in the next day. He was able to resolve all of the issues with the bike. Very professional relaxed manner. No fuss, no daft prices, just a very competent job. The ride is now how it should be, fun! Any problems in the future I'll be letting John sort them!

Mr Bernard serviced my road bike beautifully- previously well-used and in need of some serious maintenance, it has come out looking like new and the gears are a lot smoother. I was really pleased with the result and Mr Bernard is a kind-hearted character who got things done efficiently, at a good price and always, always with a smile. Have already gladly recommended him to all of my bike-owning Scouse mates.

Took my bike in for a few repairs (untrued wheels, brakes not working, bent chain, gears changing on their own or not when I wanted them to). When I got the bike back it was good as new; stripped and cleaned and parts replaced where necessary and as discussed. Nothing was done without my permission which meant I knew the cost, which was extremely reasonable for the standard/quality of work.

This man is a genuinely decent human being who actually wants to help rather than rip you off which is usually the case with bike repair. He has very fair prices and he is very skilled in bike repair. He is also an interesting person. Look at the art he did on his walls. Ask him to tell you the stories behind him. Beautiful. Pleasure to meet you mate thanks for all your help.

Excellent fast, professional service! I was there with an old used bike, I was told what should be fixed and changed to ride safely. For a fair price he made that bike usable again and safe to travel on. Everything that was done was explained to me clearly and the exact cost was specified before. He did it in 90 minutes and then I could ride on that bike safely home.

I would recommend Bernard as a very honest guy who wants to do a good job. I had paid a large national chain a lot of money to repair an adult bike but it never felt right and needed looking at. Bernard looked at it the same day diagnosed exactly what was wrong and repaired it straight away for a very fair price. Bike is now like new. Thanks Bernard.

Came in for a bike tyre replacement. Repaired within an hour at a reasonable price. Couldn't ask for anything more, certainly did not want to be on a waiting list for a Halfords check-up. Quick and straightforward service was exactly was I needed, and the owner was very pleasant to deal with. Highly recommend.

I went to see Tony with my ghost mountain bike with problems with my hydraulic brakes being spongy and none responsive. Tony took 30 minutes to put brakes right by bleeding brakes and now all good. Excellent service. I went for wheel inflation which was done free of charge and general bike check cos I just bought a second hand bike from facebook market. All checks and minor fixes done at great value. Bike now functioning like new. Thanks loads. I 100% recommend this shop for all bike owners.

Five star service and results. Took in my tired looking Marin hybrid in for a back wheel buckle and a service. I took home a brand new bike with responsive gear changes and brakes. Dream to ride again. It’s even easy to park at the back. He’s also a five star guy. Richard

Beware. Some years ago, dropped my daughter's bike off for a service. She picked it up and rode it home. Later I noticed that someone had swapped the new schwalbe inner tubes for cheap generic ones. I called John, the owner and he denied that anything was changed.

Great shop, fixed my old bike up with a new crankset and it rides like a dream now, really happy with it. The owner is very helpful and knows his craft well. He is also a pretty talented artist if you look at the paintings round the wall. 100% recommend!

Great experience - I asked John to convert my fixed gear bike to free wheel and add a rear brake. He pointed out that some bearings also needed replacing and did the lot for a great price. Will take all my bikes there for any work now

John exerts amazing energy which he puts into his work. I went in for a check up on my bike. After less than an hour of leaving it, I picked it up and it was like new. Couldn’t recommend Bernard Cycles enough!

Paid £50 for a service and the bike came back genuinely looking brand new. It was as clean as a whistle and the gears were smoother than a good mango lassi. Very friendly service as well
