I just walked into this store to buy my rescue puppy a bag of raw food. As I walked in a small mixed breed dog ran at me barking showing his teeth, i put my left foot up to protect me from being biten. This blonde hair "lady" turns around and tells me not to kick her dog which i did not because i am a animal lover myself. I told her i just put my foot up to protect myself and did not attempt to kick her dog and please get it under control. She said "get out of my store and dont come back". NO PROBLEM!!!! As a local who has lived here for 31 years and the last 9 in the quarter I have no problem with supporting a big box retailer over a local store in the situation here. Be prepared to have some dog come at you in a aggressive manner when you enter this store and as always the owner of these types if dogs sees nothing wrong with his/her behavior. You have been warned.

I have been going to Pet Asylum in the French Quarter (which is now Big Easy Pet Shop) since 2008. I have always loved their excellent customer service and Goldie their groomer is amazing. Goldie is so talented and has a wonderful spirit and aura. Somehow she can calm even the wildest of beasts. I originally came to her after PetCo marked my dog Baci as “hard to work with and a problem”. Well, Goldie was able to tame the wild child. I’m sure Baci wasn’t always easy but Goldie handled it in stride all the way through to her very last groom before crossing the rainbow bridge. Baci is gone now but I can never forget all the wonderful styles Goldie bestowed upon her over the years. Thank you Pet Asylum & Goldie!

Brenda is amazing. I found an abandoned dog and have been caring for him before finding him his new home. After Hurricane Ida things have been hectic and I was trying to find a place to get the dog checked out. Most places were not yet operational. Big Easy Pet Shop was not open yet but I called Brenda and she allowed me to come before the shop was even back open. Brenda welcomed me and gave the dog dewormer for free. She also gave me a few free treats for him. She was so kind and generous with her supplies. Her love for animals is clear. I love this place! Thanks so much Brenda!

Great place, God sent We were walking around New Orleans (tourists) and we realized the restaurants, museums, etc were not dog friendly. We called around on a Sunday and no places to board them, until we talked to the owner of this place. Super friendly, got our dogs in, took good care of them as we explored the city. She truly cares and she has much love for animals, gave me great tips from their diet to cleaning up their messes. She fosters animals and the place runs on donations and sale of pet supplies. Highly recommended!!

We were given a kitten for $75 CASH ONLY without paperwork to start. We were told they would send it to us, we never saw it. The kitten died after 11 days. My cat, then got sick of FIP and died after having him for 5-years, healthy as can be. Watching your pet of 5 years pass away from such a terrible virus is horrific. They lied and it caused a great deal of pain and suffering to myself and my husband. I do not wish this upon anyone.

Wonderful pet shop and animal rescue facility. We were just traveling through New Orleans and happened upon this place by accident. We are so glad we did. We volunteered a few hours' time with the current group of rescue kittens, which was a highlight of our trip. I highly recommend stopping in to pick up supplies, treats, or toys for your furry friends or even better, volunteering to help with their feline family if you're able.

The lady who runs this shop really cares about helping pets and the people who own them. She endlessly rescues dogs and cats, spays and nueters all her adoptees and even captures and fixes feral cats around the neighborhood. She even helped a freind of mine by driving a big bag of dog food out to her. Anything you need for your pet she can special order and she has lots of fun locally-designed pet toys.

A wonderful place with capable experienced staff. Also a place to adopt adorable kittens. They have everything needed for the care of dogs & cats. Unlike other half-staffed shops in the Quarter with gaudy cheap ugly "Made in China" outfits to torture your pets and make a tawdry spectacles of your pets. Patronize the Big Easy Petshop and Rescue and you will be glad you did and forget all the others.

Excellent experience! This is a great little pet shop with French Quarter flair. Our quirky nine year old Border Collie has grooming anxiety. We were told by the "big box" pet store she would have to be sedated and groomed by a vet. Not so! Our groomer at the Pet Asylum was wonderful with Ruby! When we picked her up, she was smiling. We look forward to our next trip.

this is a fabulous, small non-profit. The staff are fantastic and Goldie is the best dog groomer ever! We've 3 other places in New Orleans for grooming, a big box store and a small boutique on Magazine, and no one does it like Goldie. This is a great place to pick up fun gifts and supplies for your pet and you are supporting a fabulous cause!!

This rescue and pet shop is a wonderful asset to our community. I took my kitty Khaleesi to the wellness clinic today to get her shots and the vet was amazingly kind. Brenda is the Beess Knees and the Cats Pajamas all at the same time. She has such a big heart and will help anyone to her fullest extent. In a city full of overpriced veterinary care, it's essential to have a spot actually here for the animals. It's people like her that give me faith in humanity.

I adopted my toy poodle from them and he is such a sweetheart. I’m forever grateful for them working with me since I was traveling from another state. I saw him while on vacation and knew I had to take him home with me. ❤️❤️❤️Hoping they get another poodle soon so he can have a play mate.

Went here to look for a new kitten picked one out the guy at the desk said we can fill out an application we visited the kitten multiple times & after he said the kitten was already adopted. Why let people fill out applications for a taken kitty? Don’t recommend this place.

Great place and staff! They have a variety of items from pet food to collars to toys and meds! There’s always adoptable kittens running around as well. Great resource for the neighborhood! And Jess that works there is so sweet and has such a lovely way with the animals!

They do a great job finding homes for animals. One of our cats comes from there. The shop itself is a bit crowded, but most of the time you can find what you're looking for. Plus you often get company while browsing: a curious kitty here, a friendly puppy there. :)

Great rescue! We found our little fur baby through this rescue and cannot recommend them enough. Their adoption fees are more than fair and they have been more than attentive to make sure that every dog goes to a good home.

I love this place. I have taken my dog Captain and my son’s dog, Polly, there to be groomed. Everyone is so kind and they are always beautiful when they are done. I drive from Uptown because this place is amazing!!

A FULL SERVICE PET STORE IN THE 1/4. Everything from food to grooming. And they RESCUE as well. The nicest kindest people you will meet. I was even able to get hay and rabbit food. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Khaleesi is 3 yrs old. Very lovable and will play when you want to play. She is a great dog for a family. All shots and worming up to date. She has been fixed so she cannot breed.
