We came here on our tour with NY Adventure Club (true hidden gem for NYC tours!!!) built 1848 for the purpose of city hall of Brooklyn. Then in 1898 with consolidation it became Borough Hall. The coupla burned and when it was rebuilt they made sure it was TALLER than the NYC hall copula! Lol Today the Borough Hall has no real power they are elected but they are more like celebrities (like the queen of England but less rich & they do need to be elected) ***1898 consolidation the new mayor of NYC Van Wyck (yes! expressway is named after him) he was hand picked by corrupt Tammany Hall democratic machine!!! Before consolidation Seth Low (from the pierrepont family - the family that was so RICH the owned half of the land in this area and they are the founders of YALE university!!!) - but don't worry 1898 consolidation did benefit Seth Low - he eventually became Mayor of NYC!!! Are they all connected at the top!!!!!!!! I mean seriously?!?!?! **Another fun fact Van Wyck & Charles Morse tried take over the ICE industry & create a Monopoly....

Brooklyn has changed but at least the buildings are still standing. No more court officers in the court houses but plenty of outsourced security. In the official description they changed Lady Justice to justice. They are changing history right in our face. Lady Justice on top of Brooklyn Borough Hall in Downtown, Brooklyn. Official description: "Brooklyn Borough Hall houses the Brooklyn Borough President and is Brooklyn’s oldest public building and the heart and soul of its Civic Center. Completed in 1851, the structure was constructed before the 1898 consolidation of New York City, and served as Brooklyn’s City Hall. Designed by architect Gamaliel King, Borough Hall’s imposing Greek-Revival style façade is clad in Tuckahoe marble and borders bustling Columbus Park. The building is defined by its monumental staircase with six ionic columns supporting a triangular pediment and its cast-iron cupola capped by a statue of Justice. The Brooklyn Tourism Office is located on the Joralemon Street entrance." #brooklyn #brooklynboroughhall

Such an iconic building in the heart of downtown Brooklyn. In one direction is the busy Fulton Mall area, head in a different direction to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan, head in a different direction to walk along the promenade in historical brownstone Brooklyn. On nice days there are chairs and tables right out in front of the steps for people watching, resting or snacking. Most of the stairs will be occupied by people who prefer the taller perch of the steps. They are finally fixing the walkways around the building to reflect its importance to downtown.

This Is Quite Frankly The Center Of It All In Brooklyn. It Is Close To The Civic Center, Colleges And Universities, The Historic Brooklyn Heights, Cadman Plaza, The General Post Office, The Fulton Mall, And Much More. The Brooklyn City Hall Building Was Actually Made In 1848. That Is 50 Years Before Joining NYC And Becoming The Brooklyn Borough Hall. In 1883 The Brooklyn Bridge Was Also Completed When Still Brooklyn Was An Independent City. #ChampionShipStyleGoldenSupreme

The gutter rat that you have answering your phones today, please review that individuals purpose behind their position. This is suppose to be an office where people can get help or answers to their issues. To be met with such incompetence and unprofessionalism is rather disgusting. However, this is exactly what Customer Service has come to since after the pandemic. Its as if companies/organizations hire people that come from the bottom of a shoe.

Very beautiful attractive place in a prominent location. Everything around this place; food shop, grocery, government office, subway station, bus, big wide road, park, a law college, and above all people; lot of busy people are life of this place. Borough Hall subway station beside borough hall, available trains are 2 3 4 5 and R train. Some food cart are an extra attraction, food are not so cheap, not so expensive.

Even though the signs are hand written and stuck on poles, you may miss seeing them. Josephine at the Kings County Clerk was extremely helpful to me. I couldn't find the index number online as she suggested but she made an effort to do an alternate search. Be aware that you won't be allowed into the building. The workers will come out to speak to you

An overlooked brooklyn gem. Despite what you think of the politics in the building, it's a great little place to grab an instagram, grab a picture, grab a snapchat (LOLJK NO ONE USES SNAPCHAT). just go check it out, there's cool architecture, there's cool lighting at night, and just check out that Christmas Tree in the Christmas time. 5/5. woot.

Really nice station. You have the 4 train going to the Bronx back to brooklyn as well. And it express. You get the , 4 or 5 train. And you can get the 2 and 3 train. Most importantly you can transfer to other major station on all the trains listed here. Ya dig.. enjoy

Designed by architects Calvin Pollard and Gamaliel King in the Greek Revival style, and constructed of Tuckahoe marble. Un diseno al estilo griego disenado por los arquitectos Calvin Pollard y Gamaliel King, es majestuoso por el marmol con que fue construido.

This is a historic, stately building. The design is quite nice, and it's visually eye-catching both inside and outside. It's also in a good location with Cadman Plaza right next to it. If you like old buildings it's worth s look around the place if you can.

  • Rafael Yau

This is an iconic building, you can sit on the stairs to relax or even take photos of it. Steps away from the fulton mall area and 10 minutes away from the Brooklyn bridge. Overall great looking building on the day time and beautiful on the night time.

I've attended many functions at Brooklyn Borough Hall today was with Brooklyn Borough president Eric Adams encouraging all Community leaders to go back to their community and their organizations and get the word out to participate in the 2020 census

I've never been inside Borough Hall, but I have to say that the building looks really stunning from the nearby park/sidewalk access areas that are parallel to Court Street. From the front of Brooklyn Borough Hall, you can see far-off views

The building's interior structure is grand by design. It was once the official location of Brooklyn City Hall before Brooklyn became a member of New York City that now make up the five NYC boroughs. The building is now a public landmark

I did not go in and only took photos of the building from a nearby park. It's easy on the eye with its beautiful architecture and design.
