The Bunker Museum is covered as a part of the Raj Bhavan morning tour. It was built by the Britishers and remained closed and undiscovered for 6 decades. It was discovered in 2016, by the then governor Vidyasagar Rao. The tour has limited time and doesn't give justice to this 150 m long underground bunker. It is undergoing renovations/ upgradations and is expected to be open more often to the public.

On a rather mildly sunny afternoon, the waves of a greyish-blue Arabian Sea come crashing against the rocks creating a net of pure white foam; the coconut trees around dance to the tunes of the wind blowing across the perfectly-trimmed lawns, and far across the shore, the entire skyline of Mumbai seems like a distant world altogether from Raj Bhavan. Little did one know that the official residence of the Governor of Maharashtra houses a real chamber of secrets that remained unearthed (quite literally) for years

Must visit place in mumbai Bunker museum at rajabhavan Hidden below Maharashtra’s Raj Bhavan is a British-era bunker discovered in 2016. Converted into a museum in 2019, the bunker will now house a gallery of Indian revolutionaries, called ‘Kranti Gatha’.

The museum is located inside the private grounds of the mansion where the governor of Maharashtra lives. The only way for the public to visit is to request tickets for the early morning (0545) tour. This requires registering on the government website weeks in advance. Search for 'Raj Bhavan Maharashtra Sunrise Tour' to apply.

Great initiative by the Maharashtra government to restore this ruined bunker. Make sure to make prior booking before the visit. Raj Bhavan staff is really cooperative.

Fermé jusqu'en novembre selon le gardien à l'entrée. Impossible de pénétrer dans le jardin, ni d'apercevoir la vue. Très déçu.
