Perhaps it should have been more obvious to me, but this store is not kid friendly. Yes it’s a hardware store, but (a) it’s Saturday, (b) children accompany their fathers places, and (c) cmon its 2022! So much to my chagrin after milling about looking at the festool display for entirely too long, trying to find a staffer, then one appears. Not to help me of course. But to first note my child who was crawling in the Stihl weed eater display, then to ignore me literally standing next to him, and to announce to the other customers “who does this child belong to?”. When I affirmed he was mine he said that I should “corral” my child because “things might fall on him”. I noted his objection, picked my child up and left without buying my intended purchase of something like $1000, and I will never be back ever period. Because of Joe. I used to love this store. They have great tool selections. But I’ll never be back. Ever. To anyone who works there, I don’t want an apology. Just reflect upon what kind of store and staff you have where a committed buyer can’t find a staffer, only to have one appear to parent-shame. If Joe had been doing his job, I’d have my tools, you have my money, and I wouldn’t be wasting my time writing this.

Central Hardware is my favorite hardware store in the Bay Area: 1. Amazing employees, that know various trades and are eager to help - I needed a specific gas pipe joint that doesn’t exist and someone helped me not just find a suitable alternative, but effectively help me engineer a different solution. 2. Amazing selection of products - From a full set of nut/bolt/screws in bulk to high quality drills bit/taps behind the counter to a full selection of Festool products. Central Hardware has the best inventory in the city. 3. Evolving with demand - I’ve been very impressed with how much Central Hardware has continued to raise the bar on the products they sell. Recently they began selling very high quality wood hand tools and some 3D printer materials. While it still actually caters to Professionals (see endless contractor and various agency builders in the parking lot), I appreciate the investment in supporting engaged hobbyist as well.

Center hardware is a gem, exemplifying the value of a local hardware store over a big box. However much you've loved your local hardware store before, this one is a cut above. The people at Center are always incredibly helpful and knowledgable, the variety of items available is always impressive, and on the rare occasion that they don't have what you're looking for, they'll point you to the right local business to find it. So many of my projects, both home and technical, have leveraged Center as a starting (and often finishing) point. Stabila levels, Yeti coolers, and other top notch products are hiding all over the store, but you'll also find bulk sandpaper and a broad range of household cleaning supplies. It can be daunting when you walk into a store so dense, but just ask anyone there. You'll find that your visits to the hardware store are quick, painless, and effective. Honestly. Just go. it's a great hardware store.

Surprisingly excellent selection for a neighborhood hardware store. Very helpful staff, don't hesitate to ask for help. They may not approach you to ask if you need help but if you do, just ask, they will guide you to exactly what you need. About 4 years ago, I got my makita cordless drill here on sale, at an excellent price for one of my most used tools. They had so many options of cordless drills, it was a bit overwhelming to try to choose. I asked the staff for help and got great advice. I LOVE my drill. It couldn't be more perfect for me. This is also the best place I know to get gaffers tape, work gloves, dust masks, garbage cans, stuff for cleaning up oil spills, etc. You might think a big store like lowes or home depot would have better selection, but I haven't found that to be the case.

Center Hardware is the best! My partner and I went in for materials to install a pegboard to store kitchenware. Despite doing as much research as possible, I still had questions. An employee walked us through each step and was so kind to offer tips (thank you!!) It was the best possible experience for me, who is a novice and was nervous about the whole process. In the end the peg board was so easy to install/build (picture attached :)) and I now feel confident taking on more at home DIY projects largely thanks to Center Hardware! Great tip: Center Hardware cuts down wood for you. Which is great if you're me who lives in a tiny SF apartment and has limited tools/resources.

In the past couple months I've had to go in for a couple odd projects. Small jobs, replacing old fixtures and the like. Once you find someone with some knowledge in the area you need, they set themselves on a mission to solve whatever issue you've brought them. You'd be surprised what speed bumps you encounter on what seemed like a simple and tiny little replacement job. The staff here get me through every time with dedicated searching in the store for just the right part and helpful tips and hints to ensure the job gets done as pro as possible. I love this place.

Best hardware store on the Eastern-side of SF! It's very clean, well-organized, and the staff are very helpful and readily available to answer questions. They have a huge and very well arranged area of fasteners (screws, nuts, bolts, etc). Also there is parking right in front. I have much better shopping experiences there, than at the big-box store fairly nearby - where staff are hard to track down, and seldom have very useful information to share, which is needed since it's difficult to find items in there often.

Great selection, knowledgeable employees, willing to send you elsewhere if they don't have the product you are looking for. Somewhere between a consumer and professional focus in the store itself. Can order almost anything in terms of hardware. Expect to see contractors, home owners, city workers, people from the ggnra, Port authority, etc. Good fastener and tool selection. Prices all right for the quality of materials. I shop here a lot when I am looking for solutions to complicated problems.

It's GREAT! I must discovered Center Hardware a few weels ago. It is fast superior than not both Home Depot & Lowes. It is so clean, organized and the customer service is fantastic. Example; have you even needed to replace a hard to find specialty Fastener? Metric anything? And you dig and dig through drawer after drawer.... And nothing is where it's labeled where it should be. Well Center HW is the complete opposite. Check it out... It will cure your big box home goods store blues.

Friendly neighborhood hardware store. All the employees are so friendly and helpful and I could spend days just going through the wide assortment of tools, hardware, etc. that they carry. My latest visit I needed to do a paint match for a wall I was touching up. I brought in a piece of the wall and they were able to scan the color and match it perfect. I always go here first before going to a big chain store. Often they carry things I can't even find at Lowes or Home Depot.

Although I love this store and the employees are always super helpful and friendly, I was a little disappointed by the complete lack of any water-based wood stains. I was hoping to get a nice dark stain for the shelving unit I bought, but ended up with an amber shellac because literally every stain they have is oil-based. Time to update to some less toxic, more eco-friendly options guys!

Center Hardware is a great store. They have a ton of supplies, and awesome customer service. We recently needed several items for a wall mount, and they very patiently spoke to us on several phone calls to explain what we needed, and then they put the order together for curbside pickup. Joe, Sarah and Jenna were all awesome. Definitely recommend working with Center Hardware!

By far the best Hardware Store I've ever been in. Knowledgeable staff and so helpful to the uninformed which I am. Going in with vague questions leaving with educated answers or better educated questions for me to find answers. Your the best with the best staff of any SF business. Every business should strive to be Center Hardware, a place to get answers.

Yeah I don’t mean to bore you, but yet another five star review. This hardware store isn’t near me, but I had this idea that, during the lockdown, I could make it more interesting if I try new places. I will go out of my way to come back here. I don’t know how they did it, But somehow they have a whole lot more of the right stuff than a big box store.

Big hardware store, catering more towards contractors and institutions than homeowners & other individuals. Helpful staff, and good variety of items within the categories that they do stock. A bit tricky to walk to with the freeway traffic streaming by in front, and the parking area extending right up to their front door.

This was my first time to the store I came with my friend because we were fixing a kitchen sink the associate name Fabian gave us an exceptional customer service me and my friend don’t know much about the plumbing but he explain to us how to install The associate Fabian knows very well by his job will be returning

So happy to have found this place. If you're wondering what a hardware store SHOULD look like then look no further, this is the real deal. Knowledgable, friendly staff and a superb selection. Supporting a local business never felt better. Be warned, you may easily end up buying more than you went in for.

Great hardware store by far. The big chain hardware stores don't have anything that Center Hardware doesn't stock. Great customer service. So glad they moved to their current location on 3rd St. It's right near my work and I have to go there often. They really take care of my staff well.

Though I'm generally a fan of all hardware stores, I think Center HW is one of the best. It's well organized and stocked with quality merchandise. Plus they play great rock music. I think I've heard Lola by the Kinks on several occasions, so there's a nice SF cultural vibe going on.

Calvin was terrific. He greeted us at the door, showed us exactly what we were looking for (a small heater), gave us his personal recommendation, and even went and got us a couple of cartridges for it. My wife was in customer service for years, and she was blown away by Calvin.

Great assortment of toolbags and power tools. I was looking for some copper fittings and found almost everything it needed. They ordered up what I wanted on the spot and let me know when the delivery would be. Friendly and helpful staff from the door monitor to the cashier.

Love this hardware store above all the others in SF, they have everything, the people are super helpful and friendly and the prices are reasonable. I'm a local artist and always have weird questions and requests and they usually have the best solutions. Highly recommend!

Aside from the fact that you'll be followed around the store! I love their tool offerings, they have a good selection of hand tools, and hard to find items. Parking is a nightmare, I overall like the service and selection. I have come here many years! I recommend.

Spent a half hour on the phone waiting for a simple answer if you guys carried a 1”7/16 forstner bit. Something that should take minutes to get a answer in instead I was transferred three times! Like really?!? Gave up after the half hour. Very unprofessional

Good hardware store. Bigger and deeper than a typical neighborhood shop (there's an aisle for welding and grinding, e.g.) and not exhausting to shop in like the big box horror shows. Staff are good, helpful if you need them, COVID precautions are sound.

This place is top-notch from selection, to help and even special orders. The help really tops all there is a man there named Leo who has helped me tremendously from finding ordinary everyday stuff down to special orders highly recommended to all.

Fastener (including marine grade 316 stainless) paradise, a true hardware store. Electrical section better than the plumbing or HVAC section but still a recommended first stop before hitting the sad big box stores, especially if you need a tool.

Very wide selection of products at good prices. I needed a weird screw I can't find anywhere else. Really appreciate the board of screw holes for you to try your existing screw on and get the size. Perfect fit when I put it on at home!

By far the best selection of fasteners and tools in SF. It can be a bit more per item than other hardware stores, but it's totally worth it, in my view, as you'll make one trip to find what you need instead of many.

A pleasant store, that happens to have a few things, that I was looking for, that the other hardware stores in Frisco do not stock except OSH (which is no longer with us). Like the small mini rolls of gorilla tape.
