Great branch with some of the nicest folks working there! Considered to be one of the finest Carnegie Libraries in the West, this 8,900 square foot library has two levels. Since its opening in 1918, it has been an important part of city services to Westside residents. The Chapman Branch was completely renovated, including an updated HVAC, following the collapse of the roof during 1993. A major remodel of the basement level meeting space in 2002 resulted in a much-improved children's area and expanded service and collection space for adults on the ground level. A small meeting room is available for public use, and free wi-fi access is provided throughout the library. Street parking is available to the south of the building, and an external book drop is located on the east side of the building for returning library materials after hours.

We love this library. The librarians are so friendly always ready to help. The book baby and story time is amazing here.My kids love it.The craft they do after story time is great addition to the program. The slide inside the children library is so much fun for all the kids.Small kids can enjoy it too.The small aquariam is a great attraction among kids. The best part of this library is book baby is before the main library opens so children have exclusive time in the building. And children library is separate from adult section makes it a amazing addition to this wonderful place. The building is 100 years old and has history to it.Very welcoming place to be in.We love this place I do not why people criticize the neighbourhood. The library is on main road and is easy access. You can walk to Jordon trail from the library too.

We moved into the neighborhood almost 3 months ago, walked to this library with my dauther and we love it! My son uses it also and my fiancé can't wait to regularly visit as well. So charming, plenty of resources, clean and organized. The librarian was friendly and helpful and the library card I chose is a cute tape (the old school tapes we used to listen to music on) I also really like the "seed" library. Get yourself a library card and use their resources! I hope this place never closes down.

I have been volunteer here as writing coach for a few months, where virtually I didn't do anything, but wait and read books. Maybe I need to be more active, but I didn't get education for that, or encouraged to do that. The architecture of the building is amazing, however the place is small and toilets are bad, mostly not working. At least the male ones.

I love this library because it is only 4 minutes from my home but they are way "too friendly " for me. The front desk associate are loud, having conversations on their phone or with colleagues that resonate in the whole library because it is a small one, or because they dont like the quietness?? ... I will not be coming back!!!

The clerk , Robert, needs to find another job. He is rude and highly unprofessional. For the management at the Chapman Branch Library - please find a new position for Robert. One were he has absolutely NO contact with public.

Beautiful building. I am distressed at the reviews here, the staff is awesome, its a flippin library, you want professionals go buy your books.

We walk to this library every week. Our kids love the story time! They have a nice kids section downstairs and some toys. Very friendly staff.

This place is open on SUNDAY (12-6), longer than any other library! Also, they have a perfect room downstairs that is good for study groups.

The librarians are rood. When some one stole a disc I went up to the librarians and they told me to pay for the disc.

A nice library. The building is about 103 years old, and it's always been a library!!! it's neat to check it out.

  • Rodney McKay

Limited in selection and subjects. The building smells like mold - it's a health hazard to be inside.
