First of all let me just say that I was really excited to go into this store in hopes of supporting a local business rather than just getting something on the internet but a way cheaper price. I went in to buy a pair of minimalist running shoes yet with a wide-enough toe box. A young lady helped me, she let me try their treadmill and/or run outside. I walked out with a nice pair of shoes that day and was excited to go on a real run. Unfortunately I never got to actually run in the shoes as only a few hours of me wearing the shoes around town one day resulted in an irritating toe box. I returned them within their 7-day return/exchange policy. This time there was the guy there everyone seems to have an unpleasant experience with. Off the bat he was condescending and definitely the type that thinks he knows it all. He let me try other pairs of shoes on regardless. I walked out with a second pair of running shoes. This time I got to run in them and walk in them around town for a bit. They irritated my foot from the lack of width in the toe box (not something immediately able to be detected just from running in the parking lot outside their store or on their treadmill). So I went back to return those. The guy was there again and off the bat had a frustrated and rude look when I walked in. Doesn't he realize that I'd rather not be there and that I am extremely frustrated myself? Anyway, so I asked for advise and he came out with another pair of older model shoes I tried them on but wasn't 100% sold right away, yet I was willing to take them home to give them yet another chance. Then he began threatening me about how I should watch how many times I do this and that I can't just keep on trying 4-6 pairs of shoes, that there is a limit, blah blah. He even said I should go see a doctor before I come back to his store. First of all does this guy think it is fun for me to keep on going back and forth to his store? No, it is actually pretty time-consuming. All in all he made me feel really uncomfortable and never helped me to not feel frustrated myself. He mentioned how he'd been selling shoes for over 20 years so he knows what he's talking about. Long story short, I left with nothing in my hands, and they still have my money since they don't do refunds. I feel uncomfortable even going back but I know now I have to find something or else I lose my money. Their clothing/accessory selections aren't great either and super expensive. I don't know what to do... =(

This may be a long post. I apologize in advance. I have to do it. I called Friday and spoke with Mike. I told them I wanted to be fitted by the best person or people. I have a collapsed arch and gait issues, oh and recovering from IT Band issues. I didn't want to go back to running in my old shoes. I knew I wanted to be fitted in new shoes and start fresh. I waited until today to write this review because I wanted to wait until I went running on my own in the new shoes. I met with Dana and he was super sweet and patient with me. I found out my arch wasn't as bad as I thought from my previous surgery. We tried several shoes and everything. He addressed every issue and concern I had. He answered every question I had. I don't trust easily when it comes to someone "messing with my running" per se. I love to run. He had the product knowledge. He was amazing. I know I am bragging about him. I am sorry if I am going on and on. I have had brain surgery and I was told "it was never in my best interest to run again" from both the neurologist and the the neurosurgeon. So, I get discouraged easily when I have an injury. Dana was so patient with me and had me wanting to run again. I am so excited. He made my day. Today I started back interval timed running. My feet, knees and hips felt great with these new shoes. I usually start having problems about a half a mile in with the IT Band issues. Today was PERFECT. I recommend anyone to this store. They were great with me and I recommend them 110% to anyone.

Update to original review: I received a call shortly after my previous interaction at the store from Harry, one of the owners. We chatted about my experience with the store and expectations based on other local run shops I have been to in the past. Harry genuinely cared about my concerns and asked to help remedy my issues. I returned to the store and had the five start experience that I've seen so many others talk about. Dana spent 45 minutes with me talking through my past shoe history, likes and dislikes, utilizing their 3-D scanner, and working with me through multiple iterations of sizing and widths to nail down the best pair for my training. Thank you to Harry and Dana for a great experience and look forward to being a repeat customer in the future. Original review: New to town and received great recommendations for this local running store. Needed a new pair of daily trainers for an upcoming marathon and was fitted into a different brand and size than I normally wear. After a few runs my feet were absolutely shot from the shoes. I went into the store to talk with them about it and they said all I could do was buy another pair. No return policy, no store credit, nothing. Supporting local businesses is important but I would expect the business to stand behind it’s fitting and make a bad fit right. If this were a big box store there wouldn’t even be a question. I took a risk from the store’s guidance and I am now out $150 and a pair of shoes that will have to be donated.

This place has a great reputation and it's easy to see why once you come in. I came by to get fitted for a new pair of running shoes. Armani was my sales associate. He was patient and listened to all the past issues I have had with running. We went through the 2 part assessment and talked about the results. He brought out an armful of different shoes to try and we talked about how each pair felt, and other pros and cons of each one. This was great because you can read all the reviews you want, but actually speaking to someone that has the knowledge and being able to discuss in real-time, makes a huge difference in the decision making process. While I was there I watched other customers receive great individualized service. I never felt like I was asking too many questions and Armani was focused on my experience the entire time. I loved this aspect of shopping here because you do not get this in many places anymore. I never felt rushed or that I was a bother. I definitely recommend this place!

I literally just left the store, in which no one even acknowledged me. I came to the location after leaving Dick’s sporting goods. I was referred to by a friend, who knew I was searching for excellent running shoes. I was in search of Hoka’s or OnClouds. When I walked in the 2 employees were assisting customers and I understand we are in a time where businesses are not fully staffed. However, I have never walked into a business and not been greeted with a “welcome to our store”, simple hello, or we will be with you soon. The reason for the two stars is, your store simply had the running shoes I wanted however I will not give payment to a store that lacks proper customer service skills. P.S what made matters worst is upon walking out there was still no communication . No , “Bye have a good day “ nothing. I’m shocked and was looking forward to my experience after my referral and seeing all other positive reviews.

No exaggeration - until now, I’ve been wearing the wrong size running shoe for the majority of my adult life!! When I came into Charlotte Running Co., Rich fitted me for new running shoes. He suggested that I needed to go a size up to allow room for my toes to spread and when your foot naturally swells. At first it didn’t feel right because it wasn’t what I was use to, so I decided to go up a half size and ordered the 8 in a different color (despite his recommendation). As I waited for my new shoes to come in I noticed my old shoes really felt cramped in comparison. I picked up my new shoes and immediately realized I needed to go up to the 8.5 like Rich said. Luckily, he had expertly ordered that size just in case. I have my new shoes and running just FEELS so much better. Lesson learned: listen to the experts. You’re going to get some serious running knowledge that you can’t get ordering off the internet.

I was in Charlotte for an extended weekend getaway and I happened to stop by this store because I realized I needed some gels for my run the next day. The store had plenty to offer with a variety of gels/nutrition, apparel, and shoes. While in the store I had the pleasure of speaking with Armani who not only helped me walk out of the store with the gels I needed, but also with a new pair of running shoes and a friendly invite to join him and Mad Miles Running Club for a run the following morning. Thanks to Armani I was able to pick up some Endorphin Pro 2's I needed for an upcoming marathon and I was able to experience the running community Charlotte had to offer, meet some good people, and make some new friends in the process. I would recommend anybody in the area to check out the store for all their running needs and if you need any sort of assistance while there then Armani is your guy!

I was at first experiencing some difficulties with a pair of shoes I had bought from here after 2 months of training with them. I mentioned it in an earlier review and the owner Scott reached out to me and went above and beyond addressing all my issues from the shoes to recommendations on how to handle the minor injury I obtained while overtraining for my first marathon. He went through all the different shoe options in detail and was extremely patient while I was so indecisive about different parts of the shoes until I found the perfect fit with a shoe I would've never thought to try, Asics Kayano! Highly recommend Charlotte Running Co and I will be back again for all my future shoes! (eyeing the stability Altra's he recommended but didn't want to try zero drops in the middle of training)

I had a wonderful experience at the Dilworth store yesterday getting fitted or new running shoes. I have probably ordered 4-5 pairs of shoes online over the past couple of weeks because, truthfully, I was too lazy to go try on in person (shame on me). From the moment I walked in, I felt very welcomed and was fitted using the foot scanning machine and the associate who helped me (I actually never got his name, sadly) brought out shoes he recommended based on the results of my fitting. This was a perfect reminder that I should not buy running shoes based on their aesthetic because I actually went with a New Balance which I never would've thought of on my own. Thanks for a wonderful experience and glad to support a wonderful, local business!

I have been putting off going in and getting fitted despite many recommendations to Charlotte Running Co. I happened to be in the area and decided to swing in. I felt bad for walking in 15 minutes until closing and told the gentleman that I would be more than happy coming back a different day. He insisted I stay and get fitted that there is no reason I come back when I am already there, and when he knew his team would be there for a little while cleaning and closing up shop. Harry was very knowledgeable and made me feel not terrible about not knowing what I needed. I can't wait to try out my new shoes! Edit to come in a few weeks to let you know how everything works out! Do not buy shoes from their company. They recommend expensive options in styles you wouldn’t typically purchase with the narrative you can return them within 30 days and minimal wear for store credit or an exchange. I wore shoes twice outdoors for less than 3 miles distance and wanted to exchange a half size down as they previously recommended I should size up to accommodate room for swelling which did not happen for me and my foot moved around too much. I was told they wouldn’t honor their return/exchange policy and that the shoes had to be unworn which was not was I was told at purchase and would not have worn outdoors otherwise. Thankfully the size discrepancy isn’t horrendous but their customer service and policies are.

I was disappointed in my interaction with this store. I needed a good pair of shoes for a misfire of cardio and running. An older gentleman asked what he could help me with and as soon as I said cardio he seemed dismissive and stated we don’t have shoes for that. I even asked for recommendations to I may be able to find them elsewhere and he said “ask your instructor” well sir my instructor is a fitness expert not show expert hence why I am here. I just told him thank you and ventured down the street to run for your life where I purchased two great pair of shoes for running and cardio and received amazing service. P.s (if you want to pull tape I’m probably the only 6ft tall black woman that came in around 10:45 Saturday)

I went to the CRC for the second time in my life last night. I was helping my dad pick out some shoes for Christmas. He has had one knee surgery (and is in need of a second), and I wanted to help him find some comfortable shoes with great support that would allow him to move with more ease. The individual who helped us was extremely helpful (I, unfortunately, do not know the man who helped us, but he goes to Catawba College). He brought out multiple pairs of shoes and explained each pair's benefits and why he picked them for us. We left very impressed and satisfied with our decision. I would highly recommend anyone who needs running shoes to check out this store.

Waited almost a month for a pair of Hoka's to come in. Found out they were sent to another location when I called to check the status of them after no call for nearly 3 weeks. I was told they would be sent to the Dilworth location after no call for another week. I called again spoke to the manager and he said they would be sent down the next day. Went to pick up the shoes once they finally arrived and was given 2 pairs of socks that don't fit for the inconvenience. Pretty sure if I needed socks I would have asked. Nice gesture but unfortunately my rating has gone from a 5 to 1 and will not be returning.

Cannot express enough how much I love the crew at CRC! I’ve bought three pairs of running shoes (all at the advisement of the incredible Harry Chandler) and they’ve all been perfection. Thanks to the time and effort the staff puts into understanding gait, habits, running patterns and preferences, I have always walked (run?) away with shoes that I love and feel great running in. Two half marathons down with CRC suggested shoes and I’ve had no pain, no training issues at all thanks to their expertise in finding the right fit for me. Thanks to everyone at CRC for being so knowledgeable and honest and helpful!

I was looking for shoes to wear to Orange Theory workouts. I’d bought a pair online a few weeks prior after a lot of research on shoe recommendations. I wore them for a few weeks before deciding something wasn’t feeling right and came here to figure it out. Turns out they were too small. Sarah Jane provided excellent help with a warm, pleasant disposition. She helped me assess the differences in brands and styles. I settled on a pair (Brooks Ghost) that felt great - honestly better than the ones I’d gotten myself. If you need a shoe for a specific type of workout, I definitely suggest going into the store.

I'm a very beginner runner and I was experiencing some shin splint pain which I suspected was caused by low quality running shoes. I came to Charlotte Running Co with very little understanding of what I needed and what I was looking for. Armani spent a full hour with me- scanning my foot and checking for form issues while explaining the whole process to me. He had me try on several different options and gave fantastic advice about what I should be looking to for. He was super helpful and encouraging through the entire process. I finally got to try my running shoes today and it was a world of a difference!

the worst experience i have ever had. 1. the people working their know nothing about running and are in the worst shape ever. 2. they have a 7 day return policy where you can only exchange for a different shoe and then when you try on shoes they never have your size and even though they dont have your size in anything they wont refund your money. 3. the worker i had gave me no respect once so ever. he snatched things from my hand and when giving a shoe to try on he dropped the box off and walked off with out saying a word. will never return to this store and advise others to do the same

I have been a customer at Charlotte Running Company for years and appreciate and respect the knowledge and customer service of the staff. Harry is an amazing owner and person and I will ALWAYS support his stores. Armani the manager is the Bomb dot and knows his stuff. I didn't have to tie one shoe as he prepared my foot and my husband's foot for each shoe. You rock Armani and we appreciate your honesty and knowledge. I love this store, the employees are extremely helpful, and they have a very good selection of clothes and shoes. Claire, in particular, was an extreme help. She helped me figure out which shoes work best for me, after trying out several different pairs. The shoe I ended up going with wasn't available in my size, and she gave me a list of stores that may have it available in my size, and even called some to check if they were available. This type of service is rare, and I wanted to leave her a tip or even some form of acknowledgment. ALL EMPLOYEES DESERVE THAT RAISE :-)

I ran cross country in high school and learned the value of good shoes. As a new transplant to the city I needed to find a store like from back home. After meeting the staff at Charlotte Running Co. in Dilworth I felt immediately at home. Mike really took the time to find me the absolute perfect shoes - and boy did I need it! My shoes were going on three years old (ancient for running shoes). I immediately could tell the difference jogging on the treadmill in store. Now my back, knees, and feet don't hurt like they have been. It was definitely worth the investment!

My experience when I walked in I was greeted by the woman with dark long hair and was told she would help me shortly. She said the feet scanner was $25 unless you purchased a pair of shoes. I reluctantly agreed, then she gave me a pair to try on and started helping someone else. Then the older black gentleman proceeded to help me I just had to fill him in on what was going on. He helped me find the most comfortable shoes I've ever had in my life (no exaggeration)! He just didn't do the 30 second video analysis on the treadmill.

I am very pleased with the assistance from Porter. She listened to my needs, measured my feet!, and used your “step-on” computer technology to suggest shoes for my feet. I have had trouble with my IT band which she understood. Porter was the most knowledgeable person I have spoken to about feet and exercise. Not only is she knowledgeable but she loves what she does. I have had my wonderful shoes for two weeks and breaking-in was not needed. Thank you for actually measuring my feet and analyzing what is best for me.

My wife and I had the best experience here while shopping for some new running shoes this last weekend. Our dude Evan has incredible customer service - even when dealing with multiple customers. He was patient, knowledgeable, super friendly, and even checked our gates for what kind of stride we had and recommended shoes based on that. Worked with Carson to find a new pair of running shoes. Took the time to scan my feet and record me on the treadmill before bringing out suggestions. Extremely knowledgeable on each pair he brought out for me to try on and soooo patient. Got cold feet day of as I’m typically one to buy and return a few times, but went back the next day and picked up the Pegasus he helped select. My friend and I are not runners but have decided to start working towards a 5k in the fall so we went in to see if the free analysis of our running styles would be helpful. Carissa was extremely knowledgeable and explained each of the steps and which types of shoes we should be looking for. Without hard-selling us we both loved the shoes she recommended to us and walked out with great new kicks for our new running habit. Both of us were extremely satisfied with the whole experience.

They hosted a really cool New Year’s Day run! A good way to start the new year! After the run, they had an excellent breakfast buffet waiting for us. This meal was catered I’m sure they didn’t make it themselves but it was pretty awesome. The people seem to be very nice when I talked to them, but mostly I ran, ate and looked around the store quietly. There was a good amount of people in the store that day. Looked like they had a nice selection of run apparel.

I was so impressed by the way Dana took time to ask me questions and ensure I found the right fit for my next pair of running shoes. At other running stores, I've felt pressured to buy a certain shoe or I am only presented 2-3 options to pick from. Dana provided me so many great options and gave great insight about each shoe. Best experience I’ve had buying shoes (or anything for that matter in a long time). My family and I came in the store and wasn’t really expecting to purchase, however when HARRY came to assist us he educated us in such a way that it felt like I was at a personal seminar for “How to Maximize your running workouts“ My wife and I both came out with a pair of shoes and we spent around $200 for a pair of HOKAs and Saucony’s! I’ll be back for sure!

I have really high arches and struggle with finding the right support. They tested my feet and even had me run on the treadmill to checkout my posture. Ian helped me pick out the right shoe and was very knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions and even kept budget in mind. I’m excited to start running again, especially in my new Asics. I absolutely love this store for all my running needs! The staff here is always so friendly and welcoming. I know what I need but they always offer and talk about other things/options which I really appreciate (I can always learn). Everything is stocked every time I’ve came in. The location is great as well. They support and do a lot with local races and the running community which is awesome!

My husband, as a big and tall man, has been through many different shoes and always complained about his feet hurting and couldn’t wait to take off his shoes. Had Harris help me and he was able to find me shoes that fit so well to my feet and feel absolutely amazing I ended up running 7 miles later that day with the pair he helped me pick out and I have never felt better after a run. 10/10 Can not recommend this place enough, I ended up getting two pairs of shoes and it has changed not only my day to day life but my training life as well.

I am new to running and got “fitted” for a pair of shoes. The shoes wore massive blisters on both feet and clearly weren’t a fit for me. I went back to the store and they basically told me I couldn’t return them because it was outside of the 30 day window, but they would fit me for a new pair of shoes that I could buy. Don’t waste your time here, go to a different store.

Very helpful staff!! I'm not new to running but I was apparently new to getting properly fitting shoes. The staff was very helpful and knowledgable. They answered my questions, offered advice, and even stayed patient with me when I questioned their suggestions. I'm looking forward to running in my new shoes and I look forward to going back for my next pair of shoes too!

Dana is my favorite because of his knowledge and expertise. CRC is the BEST at finding the right shoe for each individual. My daughter and I have benefitted greatly over the years! Can't get over how great Armani and the rest of the staff are! Armani took the time to help me find the BEST running shoe for me. He didn't hesitate to bring out a different pair each time. Sophie was incredible! I had the most helpful, enjoyable, wonderful experience. I walked in with very little knowledge about what I was looking for, all I knew was what shoe I was currently running in. Sophie helped me find exactly what I needed through trail and error and she was so friendly and patient. Thank you! Can’t recommend her and the store enough!

Came in two weeks ago for a pair of sneakers that will help my hammer toe. Rich must have a PHD in Sneakerology. He had me tried on 6 pairs and patiently asked for my feedback until I settled on the one that is right for my feet and arches. After wearing them for two weeks, the swelling of my toe subsided and I can wear other shoes. Thanks a million!

I will not buy running shoes from anyone else. These guys know all the shoes and they quickly learn all the feet! So they get your feet in the right shoes. But if you don't listen to their recommendation (like me) and you go home with the wrong size they are happy to exchange them for the right fit! Great staff great selection, fair prices.

Always a friendly face at Charlotte Running Company. The people that work there are runners and athletes that know their shoes along with a wide variety of nutrition for long runs. They helped out during Covid by offering up free shipping. Called them up, placed the order, shipped to the house and I’m off & running again.

I was really impressed with the service here. Dana was very knowledgeable and truly wanted my husband and I to be happy with our purchases. It's apparent that the staff not only lives and breathes running but wants everyone to have a good experience, both in the store and out on their run. Definitely recommend!

Have had mixed customer service historically here. Visited the store again today and the man helping me at the counter had his mask around his neck but making little to no effort to cover his face. Would be nice if they cared to protect the health of those visiting the store, or even just followed the law.

Porter was incredible. You can tell she is very passionate about running and was extremely thorough in her assessment. I learned so much from her and 100% going back for any other shoe I need for any upcoming races. I highly encourage going and asking for Porter. You won’t be disappointed!

There’s no one on the planet that knows more about running and footwear ergonomics than Rich at The Charlotte Running Company. It was our good fortune to meet up with him. He couldn’t have been more polite, professional and patient in our search to find the perfect running shoes.

Today I ended up at the Dilworth location because of initial polite and professional customer service over the phone. Once I arrived, both employees were friendly and the young man that assisted me was seemed very knowledgable. Looking forward to trying out my new shoes tonight.

Great one on one service. Used their high tech machine to see how my feet were shaped and how I put pressure on them. Oscar recommended a bunch of shoes and brought me about eight pairs over 30 minutes. I tried a couple of them on the treadmill and was able to find a great fit.

Came in to shop for a few pairs of shoes to help with my knees. They helped me out and gave me great advice even though I told him I likely wasn’t buying that day and still gave me great service. Absolutely would recommend to everyone and anyone who needs some new shoes.

The guy working there today was very knowledgeable about running shoes and helped my daughter decide on a pair of Brooks. He juggled 4-5 customers at a time and stayed patient and positive. The running community appreciates this level of service

Carson was very helpful in finding something comfortable for my feet. He scared my feet and even recommend what was best for me not what was most expensive. I'm glad I came here and I would recommend them to anyone else who needs running shoes.
