You know when some chef or foodie invents a new recipe and you get a bite of it no matter what the service or ambience was like, and it tastes like heaven; well that's not Clarkes as I was expecting it from the reviews i read. Saturday morning as I walk into this home bakery with two doors and see this long que ahead of me only on one door, i decide to join the crowd, human instincts . Seeing me confused, a man came and said, the other door without que is where u get the breakfast roll and this que leads to the home bakery for baked goods. I walked into the coffee shop which looks very traditional and a man at the counter greets me and checks on me. I requested 2 breakfast roll and 1 Gojoun roll. For the fillers, i went for the recommendation. Something about the place felt like i was standing in my favourite uncle or aunt's kitchen and they were packing me something for the road, the chit chat, the generous portion they take for the fillers and tucking them into the bread while dripping the sauce and butter, spilling it through the bread onto the foil and grabbing it all together wrapping it tight while still with a smile asking me about my family and before handing them over to me, takes a small bag of cookies and hands it over to me saying - its for the kids! I came out of the bakery n realised was still smiling wide like an idiot! Its not the recipe, its the love.. You cannot just carefully eat this sandwich, find a spot, take an hour, make a mess and finish it.. You shud be sorted till dinner That's a place i want to show my kids next time I visit, to show them, 'no matter how busy you become, there is always time to connect with another human being, it will make somebody's day, just like mine'!!

The baked produce in this store is amongst the finest I have ever tasted but I am afraid the quality of service does not match the quality of produce. Pun intended, the service is rather 'sour-doughed'. I have ventured into the store on several occasions only to be met by an assistant approx 75-80 years old who not once smiles at customers. Quite frankly she gives the impression that she hates her job. On my most recent visit she literally threw a bag on the counter in an angry motion after an Asian customer asked for an extra item. Her attitude is grossly inappropriate and she ought to treat those paying her wages with more courtesy.

I didn't see the notice on door about only cash basis..so when I was about to pay my order I was told they only accept cash..I told the sales lady if I can come back cos I need to get money in the ATM outside..unfortunately both ATM from the bank and SPAR out of service...I only have 5e in my wallet...so I ask the lady If I can only 5 euro worth of bread...She said its ok I can drop by anytime the balance....I was really shock and thankful how she trusted a stranger like me...I came back to pay her my balance same day..not only they're trustworthy..but they have an awesome tasty breads...Thank you Clarkes....

Just ordered a poached egg and 1 slice brown bread with tea and was charged 8.90. When I questioned this price I was told that I ordered off the menu and things are dearer. I was informed that regulars know that if you ask for a poached egg you get 3 poached eggs and 3 slices bread! It was obvious I wasn't a regular and didn't receive polite service. I was returned 1 euro because I only wanted 1 egg and 1 bread. Unfortunately I didn't want a full breakfast for 8.50 which is amazing but thus is ridiculous:(

I found that the staff is not so polite, in my taste the food isn't bad, but not awesome as well. Unfortunately, in the 2 visits i've done to the shop, i needed to say "hi" a few times before gettin greeted back and today i've even heard the 2 servers talking not so good about me (about the choice of the bread instead of another because of the price) while i was going out and the door was closing. Since i wasn't rude (always said "thanks" and "please") i don't see the point of not being respected

Went in here today to get a sandwich myself and my boyfriend the old lady with the short hair was so rude in real in front of a lot of people to me and my boyfriend no manager around and she had no manners at all the shop was busy and people heard her and said it to me then I go in to this place a lot as my nanny lives here I’ll be still looking and reporting her I don’t for get a face and I’ll be letting people no .

  • Patricia Gorey

Wonderful quality cakes and bread baked daily. They do a great trade on handmade quality rolls and sandwiches to take away at lunch hour. They have a restaurant attached where you can get hot food and drinks. Fast, efficient friendly staff. This is a great local bakery that knows it's customers needs and subsequently has very loyal customers. Clark's is just the type of local shop that the area needs. ❤️

  • april88c

Disgraceful! Not only was my daughters name mocked while I ordered her a cake over the phone, when they made a bigger cake than I ordered they would not do anything for me! They wanted me to pay for a cake that was more than twice what I requested. The older woman who I dealt with had a real ego issue and we got a better cake made in 2 hours in supervalu. Would not recommend and will not return.

  • Grace

Very rude. They’re extremely racist especially that old wan there. She always skips me and pretends I’m not there and moves on to the customer behind me. Even when the customers behind me tell her that she skipped me she just brushes it off. When I do get served she’s careless with my food. Absolutely disgraceful. It’s the 21st century, she needs to get a grip.

  • Meeting

Prices are high for the quality of this bakery and cafe. Quality are very low and cheap. We order some baguettes...and the lady was just put them without any paper under on to the counter...where all buyers put their bags, hands etc. Very unhygienic.. That was the worst food we ever eat. We will not recommend anybody to eat or buy something from This bakery.

  • Kim Boyle

Lovely food, rolls, cold cut meat, coleslaw, soup, chips, cakes are all delicious but I don't understand why they're so slow at serving! 8 people behind the counter looking busy and just us and one other waiting and not one staff member serving customers or cleaning tables, this is basics. Once they serve you they're friendly and attentive.

  • Maria Waters

Had a delicious tasty piping hot dinner in Clarke's Home Bakery today even though the lunch/dinner crowd was gone. Staff as friendly as always. A great place for great food at great prices - never disappoints. If you fancy something lighter their soup & brown bread, tea/coffee, scones cakes are A1. Best place in a long time!

  • Gerard Harris

Great baked goods but terribly slow service sometimes. Instead of having 1 person on sandwiches and 1 on pastries etc, each counter person serves everything. So you can end up with a situation where 2 people order multiple sandwiches and a que of people have to wait 10minutes so they can each order and pay for 1 pastry.

  • Kathleen Henderson

Fantastic caterers....Noel has catered for many events in our Parish,Castleknock and has always given more than was expected at a very reasonable cost. Food is freshly prepared with great ingredients and well presented...we wish Noel, his staff and business the very best and we look forward to our next event.

  • Hana Huang

The baguette is good but I sincerely hope they don’t just grab it with the same hand handling money. They use a plastic wrap when grabbing other pastries but they always just grab the baguette by hand, I have to watch them and cut that part off back home every time while the baguette is 2 + euros.

  • St. Joseph's Berkeley Road, Dublin 7

Absolutely great service. Wanted a cake made for Friday morning as Iam flying to Aran Island Innis Oire for a confirmation on Saturday morning. All other shops refused said it was impossible to do. Thanks Clarks Home Bakery you have got my golden globe award for corporation.

  • Keith Rooney

I visit here on a regular basis for the bakery and the Deli but I think I need to change bakery and take my money els where because every time I visit some staff members at the counter are very rude and ignorant I think the company should teach them about customer service

  • Sean Nolan

Really good service at a top quality price . These people really care about making/baking there breads and buns etc . A word to the wise . They only take payment by cash . They dont take bank cards , no machine for it but there is a AIB Bank/atm machine across the road .

  • Marie Obradovic

I've heard about this through friends. I had to try their Sponge Cake with Fresh Cream and Strawberries and it definitely was worth it! It had just the right amount of sweetness to it. I also loved their carrot cake! It's definitely worth visiting! <3 …

  • Kourosh Keshavarz

Our Airbnb host told us about this place and I am glad he did. The had a great selection of breads and pastries. The staff were friendly and really nice to the children. I wish we had time to come in for breakfast but we were leaving early in the morning.

  • Kelley Bermingham

V v busy. Seating is tightly packed. Staff under pressure so forgot a few things. People next to me were unhappy - asked for something to be changed, were clear in their request but staff came back with wrong item. They gave up. Pity cause food is lovely.

  • Jean hade

Clarke's of cabra opposite what people call the 17 shops as a land mark well known for its bakery and very popular for breakfast well worth a visit very busy in mornings for its bread once you go for the first time you will follow up with more visits

  • AlanaSophia

Great bakery, cash only, decent prices. A neighbourhood favourite, makes excellent brown bread and fruit scones. Staff aren’t amazing, and sometimes are cash only. Display isn’t great and prices are not clear. Don’t give itemized receipts either.

  • Emmet Colgan

I was in Clarke's today had a roll with ham cheese and coleslaw and had a bottle of lucazade to drink on the bottle it said €1 was paying and the girl charged me €8 for roll and bottle so the roll cost €7 nice roll but gone very pricey

  • Mena Lyons

I visit Clarke once a week with my brother the food is lovely the staff are the kindest people you could meet they remind me of a nicer time in Dublin when people really cared about there customers I would recommend Clarke to anyone .

  • Barbara Elliott

Lovely cakes etc. Unfortunately they do not have a card machine. I wanted to give a present for Halloween to someone who lives in the Cabra area and order and pay but no card facilities. I live in CO. MEATH so unable to travel.

  • Tomislav Jakopec

Don't get your takeaway coffee here. Ordered a flat white, got half a liter of watery liquid with burned milk on top. It had neither a coffee nor milky taste to it. Spend your €3 elsewhere if you want a proper morning fix...

  • Mick Noonan

Waiting for food to long..tables not cleared,,coffee was cold By the time got the food..service brutal n staff bad humered n totally unhelpful , food good. Not enough staff which might explain the. Atmosphere

  • Robert Mc Donnell

Great food breakfast rolls are amazing and the staff are amazing so friendly love this place would highly recommend myself and people from work do order from here and everyone is always happy with the food

  • Stephen Farrelly

Great bakery and better breakfast. I live over 20km away but still go to clarkes on a Saturday morning for breakfast and bread. Only thing I wish they would reopen the cafe so I could have a sit down meal

  • Dude Didoo

Really pi**es me off how people getting a sandwich can skip the queue. All the staff take care of those getting sandwiches who take 4 times as long and spend half the money. I would give 5 star otherwise.

  • Duvvy B

I love Clarkes. Best bread in Ireland. But seriously - you have a sign up saying "do you need a plastic bag" and the staff are pushing them on you. Whats wrong with paper? Practice what you preach please.

  • Sean Butler

I had the breakfast roll and cream cake. The nicest breakfast roll I've had , lovely fresh roll and fillings. Fab fresh cream cake. All served with a smile, you couldn't ask for more. I'll be back soon.

  • John A whelan

The best Breakfast on the Northside, amazing place, lovely staff very friendly, and the rolls are out of this world. This place feeds the Construction workers of Dublin, and keeps the buildings going up.

  • M L

(3 years ago this review) coleslaw is really good. Unfortunately for the cream cakes they are a huge let down, all it is, is pastry. That's all you can taste. Dry. Not enough cream, worse cakes ever.

  • glen rogers

Great food and friendly staff, the bakery is the nicest in Cabra. The only downside is the seating area is very small for the amount of customers, it can be very hard to get a seat when they are busy

  • Pascal McGuinness

Nice enough breakfast but overpriced. Scrambled egg, 3 slices of tomato and 2 hash browns was over €8. Scrambled egg was bit dry and not tasty. Service wasnt that friendly, a bit door.

  • Mairead Westoby

Disappointed.Arrived between breakfast and start of lunch. Small breakfast bacon like leather eggs dirty and greasey thrown on a plate. Not their usual stsndard normally very good.
