This place is owner by a beautiful Egyptian man called "T". He's a very friendly, really nice and funny man. During my visit in Nola, I had the pleasure of seeing him the 2 times we went in. He even remembered I was vegan and was very confident I'd return. The cashier Desha was very knowledgeable, fast, bubbly and kept the line moving. She can definitely work a high paced establishment and multitask extremely well. We went to the take out only location that is open until 5am. There's another location up the street where you can sit down. I had a Hugh falafel wrap and french fries. Amazing, heavenly, tasty, and any other words you can think of to describe the food. My friend had beef kabobs, hummus, french fries and I can't recall the other item. My friend never had hummus before and said "this hummus is f*cking delicious. Lol We walked for at least 20 minutes or more twice just to eat this food. Go stop in and get some good eating. The fries are out of this world! We will return when back in Nola.

Was not at all sure what to expect with a restaurant/convenience store but the food was delicious. Once we walked in and looked confused the cashier offered us menus and we picked some of the things that looked extra tasty. It wasn't particularly cheap considering it's takeaway but it was all worth it. Lots of great veggie options on the menu. Loved the veggie moussaka, spinach pie and french fries. Loved the halloumi too but the portion of halloumi was rather petite. Also worth a visit if you'd like to try a new soft drink or candy item, the shelves were bursting with interesting items.

Lots of great options. We tried 4 and could go back and pick another 4 equally good dishes.

If I lived in the Crescent City, I would be eating here all.the.time. I've lived in Alexandria, Egypt twice, and this food fills a fül sized hole in my soul, while also being distinctly of New Orleans. The addition of hot sauce to the foul medames is brilliant, and the pepper oil in the tzatziki is flat-out inspired. In Egypt these foods would have been complemented with flavors that one can't always find in the US, so in true immigrant-fashion, they're spun into flavors from the local area. I would have been happy to eat this on my balcony in Sporting, two blocks from the tram, and I'm delighted to eat them on Canal, right beside the street car! Order a bunch of mezzes and enjoy what the vision of the chef. شكرا!

We enjoy Mediterranean food, especially after a trip to Egypt. We are always looking for a place to get more. Cleo's did not disappoint! We ordered the vegetarian plate because good baba ganoush is hard to find. Cleo's tebouleh salad is super flavorful, the fried cheese layered with spinach, tomatoes, and goat cheese is fabulous, the chicken seasoned with tumeric and curry is amazing. Our family of 6 ate for 100.00, because we ordered so many great entres... and had humus and plenty of our meal left over. Plus, one of the staff members we met is from Egypt, and we had a great time chatting about how delicious koshari is and how no restaurants make it...maybe it will appear on the menu one day...

The place is easy to miss on the outside looking in. It is overcrowded with drinks and boxes but there is a kitchen deep inside. Thanks to Google Maps, they can be found and the reviews and menu can be pulled out. We had the gyro and it was good. The kafta is spicy as it should be. They don’t have to have tables for sit in but only if they have menus outside or the chance to see a counter looking in, they would be so successful.

I was traveling for work and had walked by Cleo’s on my previous 2 visits, so when I saw the reviews I knew I had to see how the food matched up to the amazing aromas. It was Exactly as most of the previous reviews promised: It’s a little bit expensive - $17 for a full platter of their star dishes - but there was plenty of food and it was absolutely spectacular! Try the Egyptian breakfast, as the fried eggplant and fava dip were both something new and tasty. I brought it back to my hotel, but you can stay and eat there if you’re just taking a break from the French Quarter. Enjoy!

The food was okay but the servings were very small for the price. I'm a small person but was left hungry. Some of the convenience store items are expired so check the dates before buying. There are no places to sit so be aware of that. You must take the food to go. Don't be fooled by the photos. The photos are dated. The owner is very friendly.

Takeout place. The storefront can confuse you but you can order at the counter after you go in. We went in past midnight and could still get freshly made food. Later during our trip we also went to their sit-down restaurant not far from this takeout only location. The food here seemed warmer and fresher but the sit-down restaurant was quite good too.

Delicious food in an unassuming environment. Go into what looks like a convince store and notice the collection of international candy. Push past and to the delicious Mediterranean food in the back. Everything we had was amazing. We tried an appetizer sampler, gyro, lamb (x2), and veg plate. Team Cleo's told us that they are about to open a new restaurant down the street. I'm excited to see where they go and will follow them wherever it may be.

Ordered this late night meal to-go last night after arriving in NOLA. The food did not disappoint - it was all very flavourful and delicious. It has a convenience store attached to it so it is easy to miss. Reasonably priced and big portions. I do wish they gave a couple of knives with our food but we should have asked instead of assuming.

  • Nicholas Romano

We came in with 8 people and while there was some mix up with orders, the owner was incredibly apologetic and kept asking how to make it up to us, including cooking everything again for free. He insisted on giving us free deserts, which were delicious!! Swarma and gyros are quite tasty and staff were friendly. No complaints here at all.

  • Chioma Ogbuka

Okay the food was really really good. We didn’t have to wait for long. Seems to be a neighbourhood favourite and the owner was friendly. They have all the drink choices you could ever want and halal friendly menus for those that want that. Would definitely go again

They have a wide selection of drinks, some of which you can only get at whole foods or fresh market. This water is expensive whereever Ive seen it. Not sure where they got the stock from. Anyway the lamb shank looks big. I dont have the stomach to finish it tonight. Anyway, interesting selections here

Took take out from here. The food wasn't good, the shawarma chicken wasn't shawarma at all. It was big pieces of chicken tossed in a pan or something. The price of items is too high for it's quality. Decent place when you've no other options.

I ordered Lamb chops and paid $30. The food tasted great but the lamb chops were not done. I thought maybe they were just warm because of the delivery time but it actually came pretty fast. The lamb chops were practically still bleeding on the inside. The lamb chops were not cooked thoroughly.

Best Mediterranean in NOLA, hands down. The food is exceptional and plentiful. With a large menu to choose from you can't go home hungry from Cleo's! I recommend the Veggie Swarma w/ Lamb added (or whatever meat you prefer); it's the best of all things! And don't forget the taziki sauce!

  • Jessica Chen

Overall great experience - don’t let the convenience store turn you away. Food has great flavor & is seasoned well. Only complaint - we found a plastic black piece in the vegetable moussaka. Definitely glad I was eating it rather than the kids. Great pricing & worth a try! More

Sooo Good! Looking for a Friday evening meal without looking forward to a busy restaurant experience and saw this on Canal street in a little corner store. Took it back to hotel room and really enjoyed the food. Had the shawarma and hummus!! Sooo yummy.

I had chicken kofta with humus and rice. It was tasty but I think they could have been a little easy on salt. The humus with spicy/hot sauce was a great touch as well. I will definitely try something else here before I leave. The service was quick as well.

Ordered sheepshead with curry and veggies. Dish full of veggies. Fish was not even a half of a filet. Curry taste was non existent. Ordered thru Uber eats. What a waste. Best part of the order was the seasoned fries and they were just okay

Open late with a huge variety of sodas and different drinks as well as snacks. Lots of unique and hard to find/imported stuff. Lots of tobacco products like gar wraps and cigarettes. They also have a Mediterranean restaurant with good late night food.

All the drinks! This place has the widest and deepest selection of beverages I've ever seen, and includes many beverages I have never seen. If you need some rare or exotic beverage, come here. Amazing selection. Update 5-20-2022: still just as great!

Food was delicious. Only thing i didn't like was the pita bread coz it was chewy. Cashier was ok with her job. She explained everything we wanted to know. Price is kind of hig but what can you expect in the crowded lousiana street.

Excellent Mediterranean food at an off-beat casual location. The manager allowed us to get some beers which was a plus. They have a great selection of craft soft drinks and an interesting menu that is freshly prepared.

Very happy with everything, delicious food! Only con is I felt the masouka was a bit expensive for the size portion I received but it was still very tasty. Thank you for your attention to detail, it is shown.

I order the lamb with hummus. It was pretty delicious! This is a fun place to grab some food. The food selection is great AND they have a refrigerator with no alcoholic and alcoholic beverages for sale.
