Service was virtually nonexistent. Here’s how it went: Person 1 and 2 - received their meal but had no silverware. Asked for silverware twice before receiving it. Food was barely warm by the time they had utensils with which to eat it. Person 1 was also missing salad dressing which we asked for 3 times; waitress suggested a to-go box for the salad since we were finished eating everything else by the time she brought out the dressing. Didn’t ask for a to-go box…but I DID ask for salad dressing THREE TIMES! Person 3 - received their meal after person 1 and 2 but also before the silverware (so hard to eat without those, ya know?). Person 3 was missing fries which eventually came after the rest of the meal was consumed. Good thing he didn’t want ketchup or we may still be sitting there. Person 4 - got silverware but no meal. Their meal finally came after everyone else was finished (except person 1 who at that time was still waiting on salad dressing). Person 4 was missing pita to go with their hummus. The pita finally came after just 1 additional request and was nice and warm…the highlight of the meal (that’s where the 1 star came from). Water was never refilled. The waitress would be gone for several minutes between requests…most of which went unfulfilled until requested multiple times. Unfortunately the 2 other tables that were occupied at lunchtime with us both had issues as well. So frustrating!

Popped in before an event nearby for a quick lunch. We ordered the fried cauliflower hummus, a falafel sandwich, eggplant sandwich, a side of fries, and a side of garlic sauce. The sandwiches and hummus were good. The fries were okay, but not exceptional (they were shorter & chunkier and reminded us of the fries that come with a chicken tenders off a kid's menu). Even though the hummus was pretty good, in hindsight we regretted ordering it. It was a regular-sized (a shallow bowl about 5-in in diameter) portion of chickpea hummus with four battered & deep-fried cauliflower florets on top. For $17 it was expensive (for comparison the blue crab topped hummus at Saba is $20, the whole head of roasted cauliflower with whipped goat cheese is $14 at Domenica). I was also slightly disappointed that the garlic sauce was not toum, but that's what I get for not asking. We had to ask for water a couple times, but it was extremely slow in the restaurant at that time of day and I don't expect the waiter to hover over us. All that said, we will definitely be back here! The sandwiches were a good price for the quantity & quality and I'd like to try some of the entrees. There are few restaurants in the French Quarter with healthy and have vegan/vegetarian options. The interior decor is absolutely gorgeous. I'm pretty sure our server was in fact the owner and they were extremely friendly and gregarious. I really look forward to going back next time I'm downtown.

I've eaten at Cleo's convenience store locations (the original and current) and always found the food to be very good. For my first visit to this location (actually my last visit here was when it was still Cafe Giovanni and had opera singers) I decided to sample the meat grape leaves, which I've enjoyed at their other location, along with the combo kebab which has chicken, beef and lamb. For my sides I went with the salad and hummus which were alright. Overall I found the food to be good but not as good as what I've had at their other location. I was also pretty disappointed they have a mandatory 20% tip in the bill which really showed in the very lackluster and slow service so the "tip" was definitely not earned during my visit. I had some high hopes this spot might impress me with some great service and great food but the service was around a two star while the food was a bit under a three star as I know they can make way better food. Hopefully they work the kinks out and realize the potential this place has.

I'm so disappointed with Cleo's and it has nothing to do with the food. I love the food but I will no longer give them my money anymore. I ordered a meal with a salad through Uber but my order was missing the salad. I called the restaurant to let them know. I wasn't looking for a refund nor would I expect a driver to deliver it. What seem to me to be reasonable was a simple credit or a salad the next time I ordered, but nope! The owner accused the Uber driver of eating it and that I need to call Uber. He kept arguing with me saying, " why should I have to apologize to you? I put the salad in the bag myself. It's not my problem." I can't believe that a business owner would be so rude and argumentative. Now I know the owner is lying by saying he personally put the salad in the bag; he didn't because someone wrote the order wrong so why would he put a salad in there when it wasn't on the handwritten ticket order? But as you all can see my order receipt on Uber. I'm too tired to go tonight but I will be going there tomorrow to call him a liar to his face.

Great halal Middle Eastern place! Very convenient right off of Canal, so easy for out-of-town visitors to find and walk to from most CBD hotels. We went late on a Sunday and it was empty, but the staff were friendly and courteous, despite being an hour from close. The food was incredible (get the hummus, trust me) and the portions were generous for the price. Everyone in my party got a lamb dish, and they were all delicious. I got the shwarma, and the meat quality was excellent. The seasoning was delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only quibble was that the music was pretty loud, but it's such a minor thing that I'll forgive it late on a Sunday. Overall, would definitely recommend giving Cleo's a shot, and we'll be back soon.

This was my first time at Cleo’s and it was was delightful. We eat Mediterranean often and like many people are a little spoiled by our favorite place. Hoping for a good experience we stopped into this beautiful, welcoming restaurant. We immediately noticed the hospitality, definitely a strength of this restaurant. The decor was traditional And tasteful. The food was very good and service excellent in both speed and manner. We ordered the combination plate as I wanted to taste their preparation of this traditional dish. It was delicious and the portions were generous. The grilled Halloumi presented us a new take on an old favorite and I preferred it to the fried cheese served in oil that is commonly served in other places. The salad was actually better than at my home spot, all of the vegetables extremely fresh. The presentation was quite lovely much like you would expect at a high end restaurant yet the prices were quite reasonable. There were a number of dishes on the menu I would like to try, so I plan to come back.

We had different foods but all were so salty. Kabob was tough and so chewy. The Shawarma wasn't really a Shawarma as it has been peieces of meat being grilled while the raal one will be preapared on stick bt fire and cut so thin and they taste completely different. I tell you this, I have lived in Dubai for few years and had Shawarma regularly as it was one of my favourites arabic dishes. But this one I don't suggest anyone to try. I hope the least they cab do is to learn and use different seasoning for a good taste with salt so it will be a bearable food if not perfect. The lighting was so bad as well it looks like you are in a interrogation room. Restaurant should have a low light to give a cosy feeling.

This restaurant was good overall. The waitress was helpful, and our food came out at a good pace. The mango juice and lemonades were very tasty, and the chicken shawarma was very filling and flavorful. The ambiance was good, and there was music, although it wasn’t very loud. Overall, a great place if you want to try something new in the area.

The seats were nice and comfortable, A/C and fans were keeping the restaurant cool as well. The seats and table were easily adjusted for bigger groups, and the restrooms were fairly clean. My daughters shared a chicken shawarma, which was pretty big. They said they liked it and would come again.

The service was toooooo slow. It took the server a while to receive us at the door. It took him even longer to show up for getting our orders!! We stayed there almost 45 minutes without even receiving our drinks and salad!! When we asked when our food would be ready, the server just gave us a serious look and after a few more minutes he said we should wait for even 15 more minutes for our food!! We were very hungry and had only one hour to eat and had to get back to our conference!! We had to leave!!! Other guest sitting next to us was complaining about confusions in his orders and the server brought him and other guests some wrong side orders! Even he waited for a while until the server finally showed up to bring his bill and a longer while to come get his card! Seemingly there was only one server for the whole restaurant!!

Literally if I could give this place 0 stars I would because of the disgusting experience here. Beginning with the long wait times and understaffed atmosphere, I already was seeing the red flags as they were about 2 other parties present. The real kicker was the mold on our bread. After offering literally no solutions and taking absolutely forever to even tend to us after the fact, I recommended she call her manager who wasn’t even on the property… we couldn’t eat what we ordered and left about 40 minutes after because that’s how long it took her to knock the hummus and pita off the bill. Disgusting. I vomited immediately after leaving. Who knows what else they don’t check.

Probably one of our worst meal experiences ever. I can’t call it a dining experience. Dining sounds elevated. Since there was a 60 min average wait At most popular joints , in an absolutely empty place the waitstaff was slow. We ordered a baked cheese with toast and had to show the waiter where toast was written on the menu who in turn had to show it in the kitchen. Asked for the check 4 times then walked out. I was waiting for the waitstaff to run after me but they didn’t. Turned around and offered to pay - and paid. Something is totally wrong with a 4.5 star review place that’s blank empty on the post Mardi Gras weekend when French quarter was bustling Oh and it is PRICEY !! Please note I don’t leave negative review for the heck of it. Only to help like minded people are serious about reviews!

We visited Cleo's while on vacation. Everyone was so personable and warm. It was not terribly busy when we ate there, and they made lots of time to engage genuinely with my 5 year old son. We all had such a memorable experience. The ambiance is excellent for a range of scenarios from a family dinner to a romantic outing. It's a pleasant atmosphere and, of course, the food was delightful. We ordered the vegetarian platter and fried eggplant and I just wished we could transport Cleo's to our home... a lot of complex complimentary flavors. Oh! The baba ghanouj has a wonderful smoky flavor... I use some faux smoke flavor in my own, so the authentically smoked mouth fill was awesome and is not something I've found elsewhere.

This is a really pretty restaurant, everything is new and shiny, very comfortable to sit and dine. The menu is filled with famous Mediterranean kabobs and dishes. I tried the combo platter so I can try all different kinds of kabobs. I didn’t like any of the chicken, beef, or lamb, as all of them were overcooked so much, they were hard to chew or bite. But the shrimp kabob was really good, moist and soft. I did the rice and side of salad it came with. Pita bread was well made. Restaurant has good service, servers pay attention and check on guest. Food comes out within a decent wait time.

Had a great time at this restaurant! It's awesome that they offer halal options in New Orleans, which is not common in the South. The food was really fresh and full of flavor, loved every bite. Only minor issue was that the staff seemed a bit confused about menu choices. Still, definitely worth a visit for the tasty food and unique halal offerings.

Nice quiet restaurant in the French Quarter with excellent food. My wife and I ate here several times during our short stay in New Orleans. As I was drinking most of my calories we decided to try this place as it was lighter than traditional food of the area and kept coming back. Had the Greek salad, the chicken shawarma and the combo kebabs. The house salad is my favorite salad from 40 years of living. The meats and the hummus are mouth watering and I wish I could eat here daily.

Our Uber driver recommended this place and raved about the chicken schwarma. After eating less than healthy during this trip it was nice to get some green vegetables. A very pleasant man seated us and took our order and poured the bottle of Perrier. He did say it tends to get busy after 8pm. The chicken schwarma salad was fantastic. It is a huge portion and very well priced for what you get. 10/10 will go again. The lighting in here was very cool and the focal point for some conversation.

I was so eager to try this place... I was slightly disappointed. Thought the food was well cooked it seemed the fish & lamb shank were frozen or stale or something ... maybe reheated I'm not sure. The flavors were good & the vegetables were amazing. The fish dish was too oily and made my tummy a bit uneasy. I thought the fish was pan seared didn't expect it fried. The lamb was bland and seemed dry or reheated. The hummus & pita were pretty good. Not the worst dinner ever yet not what I expected.

My wife and I went for a rushed dinner one day and were pleasantly surprised! Like most other Mediterranean restaurants it had zero imagination in terms of variety! But the food was good! So we went there again two days later and were grossly disappointed! The falafel was raw and extremely salty! The waitress (a lovely Hispanic girl) had huge issues with communication! So if you are super hungry or just appreciate food by sayin “it looks delicious “, this maybe a place for you. Otherwise pass on it!

Atmosphere was great. Cute space, very inviting. The service wasn't great. Took a while to even have someone come over, then the girl didn't believe us when someone else had already processed our check and had to double check with her The food was not great. My Italian salad was very good, but the hummus was nothing great, the pita tasted like it had been sitting on a grill that was just cleaned with a cleaning chemical, and the chemical soaked into the bread. It was pretty gross. The rice side was okay and the shawarma meat was overcooked but seasoned well.

First off, the food is top class. Super filling, perfectly flavorful, and an absolute joy to eat. Service was awesome. I didn't understand what something on the menu was, but he described it perfectly and I was completely satisfied after I ordered it. The atmosphere was great. Open, yet personal. Tables were far enough apart that you didn't feel like someone would overhear your conversation, yet close enough that it just felt cozy. Everything about this experience is just amazing.

The ambience of this location is quite good. And the food is yummy. We came here after liking takeaway from their other location earlier during our trip. Surprisingly the pricing is exactly the same across the two locations. We really liked the glass in which they served the iced Lebanese tea. The servers were nice but didn't know anything about the items on the menu.

5:30 Friday night. We are visiting New Orleans for a few days. The service was basically a bored attitude. No interest in us, or how we were doing. Food was pretty boring, nothing special. No check to see how it was. Like nobody cared that we were there. Almost unfriendly. Would never come again because why would we when there are so many other cheerful places to go? Sorry, but not a great experience.

An unbelievable reprieve from the heavy, deep fried food of New Orleans. Love the N'Awlins food but when you just want something fresh (Greek Salad) and light (Shwarmas), this is the place to visit in the Quarter. Nahomy gave outstanding service and the food left you full, but not over stuffed. Give this place a try at least once on your trip.

We went as a family of 15 visiting from Houston. Resraurant was drastically short staffed. Only 1 server and she was sitting people, taking orders, serving food, cleaning up afterwards. We had to wait na hour for our food. 2 family members didn't get their food....by the time everyone was done eating the 2 platters came. Food was overall good. T-bone steak was our #1 fav. Perfectly cooked to med rare and was super flavorful. All and all a good experience.

So much potential so wasted. I really wanted to like this place. It has a nice interior, pleasant music and the food is okay. The two young ladies attending the customers are nice but spend the majority of their time in the back, out of sight. At least two people came to the door waited for seating and left after an extended wait. A real shame, with some supervision I feel it could be a nice place.

This place is all pomp and circumstance. The waitress refused to seat us because “we didn’t make” a reservation despite the place being empty. So we had to wait around to be seated in an empty restaurant. Once seated the service was not good. We ended up leaving. Also they say you need to make a reservation, but there is no online reservation service or any instructions on how to do so. We were told by the other location to walk-In. If you are an elitist, by all means it is your place for sure.

  • Richard Borne

Not very nice people. The one person working in the dining area saw us at the hostess stand for 10 minutes without any acknowledgment. She continued to clean tables. She finally comes and gets us and seats us. Does not introduce herself just drops the menus on the table and walks off. Comes back 10 minutes later, “ready to order?” We opted to stay because we had just walked miles and most restaurants were on a wait. Now I see why this place wasn’t. Definitely won’t be back. Horrible service.

  • Sarbjit Singh

Food was good but service was very very poor. My waitress didn’t understand anything, I had to show her on the menu what I wanted. Another waitress argued with me over the Perrier water bottle that was written and said I can only get the glass. But then came and slammed the bottle on my table saying I’m gonna charge you extra. Don’t waste your time, it does not feel or taste anything like Mediterranean!

The food was terrible. Kebabs so tough that I couldn't eat them and had no flavor at all. I got the combination kebabs. The chicken was at least not tough but no flavor other than salt, and a lot of it. The Hummus was not bad at all. The salad had no dressing it at all. Also the lights are incredibly bright. It was like eating on a football field.

location - convenient Service - fast and friendly Decor - tasteful and elegant Food quality - phenomenal. I ordered chicken and bee shawarma platter. The serving size was more than adequate! The food was definitely prepared fresh to order. The salad had pomegranate in it which was a great twist. The meat was perfectly cooked and spiced. I had ordered one chicken shawarma sandwich to go but I changed the ordered to two ! Will definitely visit again !

This place has got really good food and great architecture. It’s amidst the French Quarters which itself are a beauty. I loved baba ganoush and the kebabs here. I have rated this place low for its service and hospitality. There are couple servers who take care of the whole place and it remains pretty busy in the evening over weekends. Just for a glass of water, wait has to be for almost 30 mins which I don’t think anyone would appreciate.

  • Kunal Patel

This place is an absolute must for Mediterranean food! Beautiful decor, very rich and romantic. They have fresh juices which are so good and just what we wanted. We got the hangover and dragonfruit mojito and both are a must. There pita breads are the best I’ve ever had along with the falafel. Staff were so nice and genuine. Our waitress also gave me some extra juice because she knew I loved it. I highly recommend this restaurant!

There is only one girl working. The Owner is greedy and makes prices for portions really bad. There is no complimentary pita bread basket or anything to start with. The one girl doesn’t really speak english and does everything herself. Manager needs to stop being greedy with his costs and prices.

I would say this 5-star review is circumstantial, but it provided a very good meal very late at night when there were no other options around. The food is on point and the restaurant was clean; the staff was attentive even though there were only one or two wait staff. I would definitely recommend this for a late night meal, but during more regular hours, there are many restaurants nearby that are worth a try.

Off you're looking for some seriously great Mediterranean food, Cleo's is your place. I'm not a Hummus fan and I was seriously loving theirs! Made fresh daily on the premises with fresh ingredients and it's SO creamy!! The falafels were to die for too. Nice spacious room, great service, and soothing music added to the ambiance. Large, varied menu and good prices.

  • Roxanne Leigh

The lebneh was $10 and was in a deep bowl with less than a cup in it. Seriously, it was as if a spatula with lebneh on it was just brushed along the inside sides of the bowl. It was also overwhelmingly minty. Very disappointed, and very much looking forward to the lebneh back in my home state of Texas!

Won’t recommend to anyone about this place and won’t come back...

Food was okay. We were a party of 13 and the wait staff were not at all polite and they were very short staffed. Also the water smelled weird, we had to get bottled water from the outside.

I was craving Mediterranean food after a whole week of creole / cajun cuisine. The food here was great as was the ambience. 4 starts because they took way too long to bring the food, even starters. and the restrooms did not match the quality of the restaurant. It looked a restroom you would see at a fast food joint.

The food was fantastic! This place is tucked off Canal away from the hustle & bustle. Very fresh & packed with flavor. I ordered 2 appetizers...falafel & roasted carrots. Delicious!

We had lunch here before we went on a tour. Although the place was nearly empty, it didn’t disappoint! Great plates of tasty and flavorful Mediterranean food (hummus, gyro, shawarma) in a relaxed setting. The people at the restaurant make you feel welcome and service is good.

Surprisingly the best meal we had in town! It was delicious! Our group of friends came here 5 times through out the week changing it between lunch and dinner! It was good. Service was ok, a bit slow! But overall delish!

Ordered the lamb shawarma and thoroughly enjoyed it. The humus is a must, best ever. So I was surprised by the rather weak and odd tasting tzatziki sauce/dressing. Fortunately, you can skip the sauce and the remainder of the meal will make you happy you came.

Flavorful chicken and lamb skewers. The meat was juicy and tender. French fries were crisp and salted well. Beef shawarma had a very unique flavor. Red lentil soup was delicious.

The food here was pretty great! I didn't expect to find a Mediterranean food restaurant as authentic as this in NOLA. The people are ever so nice and took care of us well. The lamb I got was pretty hard though

Use to really love this place. Today I ordered a falafel platter. Falfel was burned and tasted awful, salad was warm, hummus was bland and gross and pita was wet .... I got so sick from the little bit I did eat. I threw the rest away, waste of money.

One of the best Mediterranean restaurants we ever been. The chicken shawarma was fantastic! This was our favorite meal above any Cajun or creole food we had during our visit. Our waiter, Clint, made the visit that much better.

What a great update. The dining room is comfortable and clean and just plain fresh. The food was all on point. Kabobs, turine, pita, grape leaves. Get the Burma for dessert. No, really, get the Burma. I'll be back.

I didn’t like much of the vegetarian platter. The falafel was pretty good though and the hummus decent. The room was really cold being there in January. Our desert came in it’s own warm little pot witch was cute.

Food is freshly prepared. I had the lamb kebab wrap which was delicious! This was my second visit to Cleo's and first time to Decatur st. Location. Seating and ambience is much nicer here on Decatur street.
