If you are ever unfortunate enough to lose a friend or family member in the Brockley area, you must first check the vegan aisle at Costcutter. The plethora of choice here was responsible for 9/10 of missing people and 6/10 missing pets in 2019. Yes that’s right, even Pets are left speechless. If you have any less than 1 hour to browse the contents of this small but surprisingly large convenience store, come back when you have put more time aside. On several occasions I’ve actually seen customers setting up camping chairs to sit trembling at the level of choice just in the dip section alone! One gentleman I saw had entered a trancelike state, when I asked him what was wrong he looked up at the rather bright industrial ceiling light and cried defeatedly “how can there be such a generous range of pinto beans?” I held his hand in sympathy and said I was also surprised at how vast the salted caramel chocolate bar range had become too. We comforted each other all the way down past the comprehensive curry sauce section where we concluded that if Mary Poppins had to store the contents of the shop in her handbag, she would be forced to simply give up before reaching the end of the alternative milk range. Although we were sure she would sing a lovely song about it!
I shop here often and usually it’s fine. Staff are friendly. Today was a different story. Don’t know if she’s new or what the deal was but I encountered an incredibly rude and arrogant lady at the till. Telling me what I should be doing?? I needed to claim a winning scratchie. First of all she’s telling me I need to scratch a number?? She didn’t have a coin (odd you’re at a till) and goes on to tell me next time you have to always scratch this number, which is not entirely true I’ve been told in the past that needs to be revealed by staff to prevent tickets being tampered. I let it go, didn’t have the time to argue with her. She puts it through the till and used the winnings to buy my item so now I have coins I didn’t want. I look at her saying I wanted to pay by card, her immediate response was “i already put it through. I asked you before, you said yes” Excuse me?? First of all, I did not and what kind of response is that?? Very strange.
I was there to return a parcel and I was following the instructions and since it was evening, there was a line and after waiting for 10 min. One of staff named Ishan rudely said to me that I need to go to line as I am blind and can’t see the line. And I went in line and waited once my turn comes, he disrepcfully goes that you need to pack your parcel in a bag or something properly when there was no such guidelines so I requested him to arrange a bag and was ready to pay for that but he simply said no as he least concern being a customer service rep. Thn another senior staff was listening us from back and he approached me and helped me so that means they did had bags for return courier but Ishan just don’t want to perform his duties and behave disrespectful to others
The staff in this store are sexist and very rude. Simply went in the store to purchase a few things and return a parcel and waited in the queue very patiently. Due to the lack of organisation in the store esp when it comes to sending parcels - I found myself being disrespected by a member of staff by merely reminding them that I was waiting for him to scan my parcel after being sent to wait by the parcel stand by another colleague. The worst thing is he actually saw me waiting in the queue before I was told to go to the parcel stand to wait and told me to go to the back of the queue. Is this due to my race or gender or possibly both?
Decent food selection supplied by coop. However, they make collecting Evri parcels difficult by shutting the system down 15 mins before closing even when there's 4 staff members, no other customers around and are rude and unhelpful about it. So often they're really busy and there's queues of customers or they're scrabbling around on the floor with disorganised parcels floating around. If they put a smile on their face, made an effort with customer service rather than sullen attitude it'd make a big difference. No wonder InPost services are popular...
If u offer a service you should be able to deal with it. Your queuing system doesn't work and it's not clear for customers what they have to do when they are dropping a parcel and to get annoyed with us it's not the right behaviour. From the amount of bad reviews about the same thing it shows you need to deal with it as it's your fault not ours. I gave 3 stars as you have some products I like, hence me popping by regularly... otherwise for the behaviour would have been one star.
My experience has been good so far, until today. Went in to get a few bits, bought a yam which I assumed was good, I’ve only just cut it open to realise it’s completely rotten, my question is how long do they keep these yams in the shop if they don’t sell, please Costcutter if they don’t sell throw it away like everything else, it’s disgusting and unacceptable and I’m deeply disappointed!!!!!
For customer service even one star is too high, I am affraid. Each time, especially ladies, are unhelpful, unpleasant, screaming at eachother, and sometimes - just rude :/ It's the closest shop on my area, you can get almost everything you need and veggies are fresh, but I prefer to go elsewhere if I don't have to go there. At the moment only going there to return Hermes parcels.
The past 2 times I've gotten a package delivered to this shop there's been an issue. Most of the staff are nice but a few need training on how interact with customers and on reading packages. The manager is one of the most unhelpful people in the store. I will be avoiding this shop. I'm only giving it a 2 because my previous experience wasn't as bad as my last few.
This supermarket has everything you could possibly need, and the quality of the products is generally quite good. However, I was a bit surprised to find that the prices were on the high side, especially given the name "Costcutter." Nonetheless, it's still a convenient and reliable option for all your grocery needs.
This store currently has a great selection of vegan groceries. A whole fridge full of tofu and soy meat substitutes and non dairy alternatives. Much more than a local of any other super market but less than a big supermarket. A bit pricey but it is a convenience shop. Right next to the station too.
It is disappointing to see my review is not the only poor review and it is regarding customer service. I made the mistake of having my parcel delivered to this shop as I would not be home to receive the parcel. Upon visiting the shop to
Great selection and nice shop but the visiting experience is totally ruined by assistant Wendy's brusque / rude attitude - it feels like you are being told off the way she hectors you. It seems like she is angry about something. Sad as
Got charged £40 instead of £4. I don't believe it's a mistake, because it's not the first time this happens. I live nearby and used to shop there quite a lot. Will not support shop, that scams customers, anymore.
Ok, so this isn't the best shopping experience you're ever going to have... but if you're a veggie (like me) this stocks a good range of Cauldron sausages, Quorn burgers and falafel on top of the usual supplies.
Wonderful local grocery store - great selection of fresh produce, organic and vegan options, and plastic free/reusable/palm oil free products. I’ve always had really pleasant experiences with the staff.
I came in to return a parcel having just had an awful experience in a shop in Forest Hill. Lila was very caring and helpful, she couldn’t have provided a more professional service. So happy.
An excellent convenience store which has all basics you need, plus an excellent range of interesting/premium products which really sets it apart from the mainstream supermarkets/mini-marts.
Really distressed to see continued terrible customer service from Wendy today, having experienced her brash unprofessional tone many times before! Why the store keeps her is beyond me.
The lady behind the counter nicked me 1£ and a few cents by scanning a product twice. Always ask for receipt! They never give you the receipt here, unless you specifically ask for it.
Warning, establecimiento que colabora con estafadores que hacen compras fantasma con datos extraídos de tarjetas de crédito clonadas en España. Debe haber algún empleado compinchado.
worst customer experience I’ve ever had - extremely overpriced - you can find the same things for half the price in most places - staff were very very rude I will not be going again
Absolutely disgraceful and rude customer service from Wendy. Barks orders at customers, shouts around the store and clearly hates working there. All round unpleasant person.
This costcutter was such a nice surprise to find - a huge vegan fridge and a vegan freezer section with stuff in it I haven't even seen in mainstream supermarkets.
I love this store. Very conveniently placed next to train station. Incredible range of food and drink. A little on the pricey side but happy to overlook this.
Definitely one of the better Costcutter’s I’ve visited. They have a large range of different products and I’ve always found the staff very friendly.
Loads of gourmet products, lots of fresh food, great vegan selection and also all the basics you'd need for house and snacks. Best store!
Decent selection for a convenience store. It rarely has good deals though, and in most things is trying to be too fancy :/
Don’t use for Evri parcels - parcel refused even though was of an acceptable size according to online booking system
Awesome place for shopping with Reasonable rates, Polite Staff, Caring People....I recommend to Visit 7 Days a week
Awesome... This store is insane... They got everything as ONE STOP SOLUTION... I recommend everyone to visit.
Poor customer service and not very willing to help when asked if I was over charged. Gave up in the end.
It has a wide range of choice, could be open a little bit later but other than that brilliant shop.
The only place in Brockley where you can get specialty ingredients for Japanese, Asian etc cousin
Avoid this place to send parcel . They make up stupid rules , Evri should know about it .
Can get cook range here and lots of interesting foreign foods and good choice of beers
Good range of savory palm oil free products, plus a good selection of eco products.
Great choice of food and other things. Nice selection of deli items as well!
Its a super big store and the staff are very approachable and professional.
Very poor service waiting to be served staff are very slow not going again
Remind me never to buy from this place if possible, unreasonable ppl.
Great friendly staff always willing to help and has a great range
Good store, can take and collect Amazon parcels at this store
Very good food. They have a nice variety of vegan options.
