My stay at Discovery Parks in Hobart, Australia, was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the stunning natural surroundings and the warm hospitality of the staff. The accommodations were impeccable, offering a range of options from cabins to powered sites for campers. My cabin was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with modern amenities. It felt like a home away from home. What sets Discovery Parks apart is its perfect blend of nature and convenience. The park is nestled in a picturesque location, allowing me to enjoy the beauty of the Tasmanian landscape while still being a short drive away from Hobart's attractions. The facilities on-site were fantastic, including a well-maintained pool, barbecue areas, and a camp kitchen. It's a great place for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. The staff were incredibly helpful, providing local recommendations and ensuring that I had everything I needed for a pleasant stay. Their knowledge and enthusiasm for the area added to the overall experience. If you're planning a trip to Hobart and want to immerse yourself in Tasmania's natural beauty without sacrificing comfort, I highly recommend Discovery Parks. It's a fantastic place to unwind, explore, and create lasting memories. I can't wait to return!

Not acceptable. Long read but in total they will stuff you around and not care. Booked a month in advance for the ‘last one’ of their pet friendly cabins with a supposed yard. Made a deposit over the phone and never got a receipt of confirmation. A few weeks late I call up and ask, they say one will come later. The night before my stay I noticed another email said ‘accomodation: powered site’ ?!?! Called that night, they were closed. That morning I called and ‘oh someone’s moved your booking to a site, there’s nothing we can do, some have booked months in advance’ ‘we’re going you a huge favour and let you use a balcony cabin in place’ I never wanted that to begin with! ‘oh and you’ll get a whopping 10$ off your stay, so pay up!’ Upon arrival they were closed and our cabin had no balcony or yard. Fridge was left on freezer mode so all our food was ruined. Bed was hard. The manager knew I was upset and upon check out acted like everything was fantastic. Well I wanted a refund. You guys ruined my holiday.

Wouldnt really recommend this place. Staff act friendly but aren’t very understanding and this one particular guy named Ash is the most rudest person I have dealt with, answered the phone with ‘hello you called on my day off? How can I help you’ … never been treated so rudely Wifi is horrible and non existent, it dosnt clarify anywhere that wifi is free because it dosnt work. First day I told him I must be so unlucky it’s not working, he said it’s rare that it’s not, next day he was saying what do you expect? It’s a free wifi. You assume it works upon booking … staff are not helpful and if something goes wrong they don’t sort it out and don’t get back to you. As a female traveller alone you would think they would show some concern, they have no qualms about sorting and making things convenient in times of need. Would not recommend at all, toilet was also dirty upon arrival …

Loved it! We were a issue due to being loud at the start. Staff were polite and kindly advised us. There's a jumping pillow and a kids putt putt. Good fun. BBQ area was clean with tv and drink vending machine. At reception they have the basics that could be forgotten. (Milk for us). Some cabins are pet friendly (check with booking). There is an oasis and bottle shop about 200 m down road. Off the highway still. They have alot of staff which keep the place clean but felt I couldn't open curtains without catching a working staring through the cabin windows. Cabins are clean, compact and we were able to fit 3 kids/2 adults/1 dog for 2 nights comfortably. Large rubbish bins are close to cabins, making it easier to not fill the bins inside. Overall great experience, will be back in the future and warmer months.

WOW!! We stayed in a superior cabin, it was spacious and had everything we needed! It sure was a treat to have a washing machine and dishwasher in the cabin! The office staff were super friendly through each interaction. Location wise, was close to Hobart and tourist attractions. The park provides great activities for children, including a jumping pillow, mini golf, cubby house. The fire pits and outdoor cooking facilities provided were clean and readily available. There was a charge to use the clothes driers (if needed/required) - $1 per 10 minutes. There was a clothes airer provided in cabin & there were plenty of clothes lines around the park.

Better than expected from the Wotif listing. The cabin was perfect for our young family and we had a fantastic week in Hobart on holiday. The desk staff were super friendly and very helpful too, down to calling us and letting us know our daughter had left her barbie behind! We had time to head back to get it, so averted a major personal tragedy . We were initially 50/50 on the location as it’s on the northern outskirts of Hobart, but it turned out to be a great location as right on a major arterial and only 20 minutes drive from Richmond which has a lot of great attractions and worth a day’s visit, as well as convenient to other directions. Highly recommended especially for families travelling on a budget.

Just recently stayed here with my two dogs, pet friendly cabin was a breeze to stay in and im glad I could bring my dogs with me i know where to stay when I go down that way for any reason! Only thing Is apart from how clean the cabin was I wish cleaners to careful eye on skirting boards they were a tad dusty and the air con kept the room nice and warm but for the price and cabin 10/10 definitely recommending this to all my pet loving friends and family if they go that way and get stuck for accomodation

Very disappointed in the customer care. My partner booked a room and due to unforseen circumstances had to cancel, when we called to cancel the lady said we should see the refund on monday morning. Monday came and nothing so i called again, and was told within 24-48hrs, still nothing so to I called Thursday and they still couldn't give me an answer. Just feel like they don't care. I know they are running a business, but no offer of a discounted stay or complimentary room. Yet here we are and still awaiting the refund a week later. Think I will stick to Mornington one where they bend over backwards to keep customers satisfied.

What a pleasant park that is quiet and peaceful with childrens playground. Easy access to highway and pub with food/bottle shop a few metres away. The cabin was well equipped with everything needed including fully equipped kitchen and extremely comfortable beds. They also have an outdoor bbq area that is very handy. Friendly staff, always happy to help with a smile. They even called us to let us know of items left behind. Highly recommend.

We had booked into what the park called an ensuite powered site. We discovered that it was a powered site with shared facilities. We saw there were 2 sites which were private ensuites and asked to be relocated. They had no hesitation. Good concrete blocks with motion sensor lights on the outside of the ensuite. Soap, small hand towels and 2 floor towels were provided. Clean and modern facilities.

Good area to base yourself to see the sites of Hobart. Staff were very helpful with destinations to visit. Cabins are clean and have everything you need. Only issues we had was the double bed was sunken in the middle and extremely uncomfortable, and the shower head leaks. Booked under my partners surname of Buckley and only was brought to our attention today that we should of used a code TASEFTPOS when booking 3 or more nights in a cabin to have a $50 eftpos card sent to us. Shame we weren't made aware of this. Otherwise enjoyed our stay.

  • Onlyodin

On average, this park and it's facilities seem to be quite good, albeit a bit dated and shabby looking in the kitchen, but the BBQs were nice and big. The powered sites seemed to be somewhat of an afterthought, positioned awkwardly and not particularly suited to camper trailers or annexes that need to be pegged down. Their wireless internet is also considerably more expensive than Telstra Prepaid mobile broadband. The park is in a quiet area too, and sheltered from the wind. Easy to get to Hobart down the nearby highways.

  • Marnie B

The floors were not vacuumed, the walls have scratched off paint, the curtains are stained, the couch is falling apart, the bedroom windows don't open for fresh air, the shower pressure hurts, the airfan's cover is broken, the doors are jammed, there's one ladder for two bunk beds, sheets were put on the bottom bunks but top bunks were not. I really doubt they clean this place. I don't expect luxury but I expect a decent cabin.

Can't recommend the cabins here highly enough. It's like a home away from home...even has its own washing machine. The cabin was very clean and even had a welcome note on arrival from Amy showing date the cabin had been cleaned. Very nice helpful lady on reception as well. Cabin has lovely little patio to sit outside and plenty of room inside. There's some road noise but we couldn't hear it inside the cabin. Pub next door so not far to walk for dinner. Would most definitely stay here again!

Last breakfast on our holiday around Tassie. Sitting at the outdoor breakfast bar at the camp kitchen thinking about what an awesome trip we have been on. Out of all the places we have stayed, this one wins hands down for customer service, amenities (hot water, with pressure, un-timed wins for my 18yo son - camp kitchen/BBQ area great too!), easy to commute with buses into city and a great pub for dinner next door too.

I wanted to cancel 1 person from booking. Unbeknown to me as we arrived on Boxing day, they advised the whole booking was cancelled, and could not rebook us in. We came from interstate to visit family. Luckily in our case we were able to be put up by family members.. But it wasn't the best. Imagine if people came from interstate and being Christmas new year period, they had no alternative. Never going back. Due to the incompetence. Not even an email confirming cancellation.

  • alysha chugg

I booked a cabin for my daughter and her band mates to stay in while performing in Hobart. Unfortunately, due to covid, they had to cancel the gig so I rang to advise that the booking was no longer required. The lady (Tegan, I think?) I spoke with was extremely friendly, helpful and understanding and I was so grateful for her assistance. The call left such a positive impression that I will definitely stay there in the future. Thank you!

  • Farrukh G

*The ladies at the reception were very nice cooperative and helpful* they deserve one star. Not Happy with the cabin. - Spiders and other dead bugs on the beds and couches Only one soap with no shampoos were left in the bathroom for six people (we checked everywhere , nothing was found) called them on emergency line and a lady turned up with two soaps and shampoos . - Internet was ridiculously slow and with continuing disconnection.

  • Pellen and Palmer Specialty Hypnosis Training

We got a refund (that took days) the website falsly advertised it could do camper trailors when it couldnt. Lady at counter clearly knew there was an issue when we arrived. Even after pre booking 6 months earlier and establishing in an email they could cater we arrived late in the day to some very greedy operators (we were lucky to get accomodation out of hobart at the last minute) just go somewhere else and save yourself the drama!

  • Drano Drano

Even though this park is outside the suburbs of Hobart, its location makes it easy to visit tourist attractions like MONA and Richmond. Driving into Hobart itself only takes a few minutes. Supermarkets for supplies are nearby (by car), and there is a bottle shop and pub restaurant right next door. The front desk staff are a great help with your stay. The cabins we used were clean and well-appointed, one even had a BBQ on the deck.

  • ian1952au

We stayed at this park for 10 nights in a nice cabin, however were very disappointed that even though the parks policy was to change linen and towels after 5 days this was not done. Also there was a couple with children in a near by cabin that argued constantly, swearing at their children, park should have removed them, and they left their washing unattended in washing machines and driers on two occasions.

  • Dave Gerrard

Two bedroom self contained cabins with everything. Washer, dryer, dishwasher, air conditioner, electric bbq, full kitchen. Small gripe about the curtains. Light still gets in at sunrise meaning we were up early regardless. No ceiling fan in the bedroom so the air con ended up running all night.

We booked a standard cabin but certainly weren't expecting sub standard for the price we paid. The cabin was old and worn and in need of a serious renovation. The beds were hard as was the 'couch', and no cleaning products except for dish washing liquid. The constant Police presence day and night was a little unnerving (cabin searches and children being removed) We will definitely Airbnb next time!

  • Heather Schofield

Had a great time here. The biggest problem is that the toilet is in the second bedroom or bunk room. There nothing you can do about that. I guess it was just bad planning. There was only 3 of us in a cabin for 6. So we had plenty of room. There were plenty of plates, bowls, cutlery etc.. All the appliances worked. It was easy to cook for ourselves. It a clean & the staff were helpful & pleasant.

  • Karen Sigley

We booked a powered site for our motor home, booking processes were easy and the facilities nice and clean. Unfortunately I left my oodie hanging in the shower on Tuesday morning. After checking this morning I was told the cleaner saw it hanging but left it - and now it is gone. It is a shame the cleaner didn't take it to lost property but apparently that is the policy.

  • Maureen Furley

Perfect location, I was worried being over the east side of Hobart but the location was so central to everything we wanted to visit. Beautiful staff, very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back 10/10

The delightful sounds of the permanent resident's dog that's tied up to your cabin will lull you to sleep, while you wonder if it was a giant rat, or small wallaby you saw carrying trash under your cabin. You may also hear the C bomb louder and more frequently than you have ever heard before, at all hours of the night. Must be experienced to be believed.

  • pino iaconis

I wouldn't stay there again to be honest.it's in a bad location, just felt dirty and cleaned quickly with no thought for the next people staying it stunk of bleech.I had a cabin which had a handle on the shower wall which looked like a disabled toilet in a park and was off-putting even my kids showered in thongs.only good thing not far from the city.

  • Lee-Anne Kendall

This place is great ...close to Hobart, very scenic...lovely to wake with the birds chirping away ..the cabins are great with everything you need at hand , staff are wonderful ...we have had an awesome extra long stay and they have been super accommodating for this. Highly recommend this place ...its like a home away from home …

  • Ez Gridley

Staff were very helpful when we called them after hours, panicking over the fact we double booked accomodation in two seperate areas of the state for the same night! They were able to help us out and move our booking which we will be forever grateful for! Great little spot, nice and clean grounds and cabin. Good value for what you get!

  • Jenny Trembath

Stayed about a week on a powered site. Staff very obliging, the location is perfect to use as a base and explore the Hobart and its surroundings amenities clean and look new. They accommodate for all ages. Would definitely recommend this park without hesitation

A very nice and quiet place to stay , the staff were very helpful . But I have to say what spoiled our stay was the very loud water hammering on the hot and cold water taps in the shower on cabin 17 , we were told it would be fixed , and after a week still no joy , also the wi-fi was non existing most of the time . • Line S

They are so meticulous, the whole cabin was so clean and spotless including all the cooking equipments. I can't complain, everything was too perfect. They have electric blankets, wifi, a proper fridge (not a bar fridge). They provide everything that you need to cook, you just need to buy the oil, meat n veggies.

  • daniella e

In the kids room were a whole trail of ants in the top bunk bed, snacking on a piece of food left by the people before us. Absolutely disgusted and disappointed. Not worth the money we put in. Do not recommend staying at the hotel.

Cabins are ok clean. Park a disappointment in appearance looks used but not maintained. Noise from road non stop unbelievable. Phone pick up on road front only. View of jail from across road. Kids play area is shabby. Cabins way too small for 4adults anymore than 2 nights. Staff were helpful with information

  • Tam

May as well park in a gravel carpark down the road. At least then you might get the wifi and some peace and quiet. Stopped here to power up and check emails. Wifi will not work up the back for powered campervan sites. Coupled with the redneck family yelling at their kids constantly, this place is the worst.

  • Kiran Lovell

Great place to stay. -cabins are a bit worn down, but the newer ones are lovely -the higher up cabins have a great view, but the jail can be a bit unsettling (hence it is right across the highway from the Cabins) -surprisingly very peaceful even though next to highway -maintenance could be improved a bit

  • Dan

I love the rugged cabin feel inside even though it doesnt really physically look like one outside. Its size is deceiving though coz it is packed with complete amenities inside. The location is good too if you wanna drive down the CBD area. The only downside was that one of my bed sheets was a bit smelly.

  • Sally Field

Arrived early 9.30a, rude old lady on desk snapped you're early. Honestly I didn't realise it was 9.30a, distances in Tasmania very short. Instead of asking what was my accommodation she snapped "check I'm 2pm" She needs training ask first. Noisy but everything else ok

  • Irene Rossouw

My son and I stayed at Discovery parks Hobart recently on our first trip to Tasmania, and we were so warmly received by the reception staff. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and beautifully set up. Short drive to Hobart Cbd, very centrally located. Great value

  • Andrew Lee

If you arrived after office hours at 5pm, no one will help you checking in and the phone outside the reception area does not have any one to answer. Luckily have an Australia number, else no information will be provided and they will not be able to contact you.

  • Karen Newton

Lovely staff, the site is pretty tight for larger motorhomes, but its good fencing so easier to contsin dogs. Nice little areas to explore and the bus stop is very close, which takes you to Hobart. Facilities are very good, even has an indoor games / tv room.

  • nina Blocki

Stayed a week in a deluxe cabin and I could not fault the accommodation. The staff were friendly and helpful. The washer and dryer was big plus. Our third time at this discovery park and each time we have upgraded our accommodation . Would easily stay again.

  • Alan

Good size cabin with full kitchen, was had an end cabin so found it to be quiet despite highway. Good location, out of town a little but only 10-15 minutes to choice of shops, restaurants, convention centre. Free WiFi but inside end cabin reception patchy.

  • Yil Yigit

Very poor quality of room compared to other discovery parks. The rooms are very old and definitely and urgently require renewed. They hAve only 4 rooms at the enterance which look gorgeous but don't believe it that pictures , rest of the rooms are old!!

  • Benji Grant

The cabin we were staying in didn't have any wifi, as it was too far away, and there was a vent in the window next to the bed which was very cold and couldn't be closed. Overall the cabin was nice enough and the mattresses were adequately comfortable.

  • Robertson Tasker

Lovely team of people...nothing is too much trouble..oasis pub just down the driveway...ensuites were clean with great water pressure and hot water. Cabins were lovely and private for a bit more luxury. We will definitely be back
