I was a patient of Dr Dykema for 5 months. I was excited to find a doctor that was a vegan & a DO. My experience was not entirely bad, but not good enough to stay. She helped me in the area of specialty supplements to add to my current repertoire. I like the idea that she takes a more natural approach and is not eager to dole out prescription meds. Her website is chalk full of healthy information that everyone can benefit from. I agree with her vegan (whole food plant based) philosophy and I very much wanted her to be my PCP. Her hormone therapy balancing service fees are on the high side. My consultations were typically about 10 min short. When she was done she would just walk out, whether I had additional questions or not. I'd be left sitting there wondering what was going on. Did she leave the room to get something? Is she coming back? I understand doctors have a tight schedule, but I felt her exit style was unsettling and demoralizing. And apparently I called with too many questions to her voice mail. I was relayed a message back from the doctor through the sweet, young gal that returns Dr Dykema's calls to save all my questions for the next appointment. Really?! I would not have left as many messages if all my questions were answered the first time. Me leaving a message with two questions but getting an answer back to just one of those two questions unfortunately required me to call back again. Frustrating! Not good when you are needing clarification on brand new supplements and meds to be taken daily. I'm not comfortable taking supplements and meds I have dosing questions about. Dr Dykema didn't seem to have a problem with it though. Her office didn't respond to a request to have my medical records sent in a timely manner before my urologist appointment for a female health issue I was having, which, by the way, Dr Dykema misdiagnosed prior to that. That request was made 5 days prior my appointment. I won't even go into my husband's experience. Long story short, he refused to go back after 1 visit. I was not pleased with their surcharge for using a credit card or a debit card. I have never been to a doctor's office that does that. I was a small business owner and I understand that credit card fees add up. However, I also accepted it as the cost of doing business. IMO it's an unprofessional and "mom and pop" way of doing business. At times I found Dr Dykema & her receptionist, Tiffany, to be unaccommodating. I also found Tiffany to be intimidating and unfriendly. She made it clear that I was not to ask for an additional copy of my lab order over the phone. You must come into the office for that. Customer/Patient service is not their forte. They have every right to run a tight ship, which they do. And I have every right to find a doctor that is more friendly and accommodating, which I have. My new doctor, also a vegan (yay!) spends an hour with me every time I see him. I don't need that much time, but it sure is a pleasant and welcoming change. It is as if I'm his only patient. I love walking out with the feeling that my doctor really cares. In summary, I did not find Dr Dykema and staff were a good match for me or my husband.

It’s been a few years since my visit but it really haunts me to this day. I went in for an annual visit and pap, I didn’t have insurance at the time but it had been a few years since my last pap. I thought she’d be a good fit since she prioritizes preventative healthcare. I get into the room she starts asking about my medications which I was on Xanax for my anxiety and when I told her she immediately said “I don’t prescribe tranquilizers” in a harsh tone and continued out visit. I wasn’t there for Xanax or a refill, I was there for a pap. She begins my pelvic exam and sees my copper IUD is falling out of place so she tries readjusting it and I’m assuming it just started to fall out during the adjustment because she goes “would you just like me to remove it?” I, spread eagle in stirrups and feeling anxious because she had already treated me so coldly for my meds, say “uhh sure” because I didn’t want her to snap at me again and she pulls out my IUD. Upon pulling it out she sees one of the arms is missing. She has me redress, walks me out to pay for my appointment and just goes “yeah go get an ultrasound and have them send me the results so we know if that copper arm is inside you or not.” She didn’t give me a referral, she just told me to seek out an imaging facility and sent me on my way. It was so cold and haunts me daily. I’ve never had a doctor treat me so harshly and I felt so rushed to give her an answer about my IUD. No bedside manner at all.

This is the first time I have ever stopped seeing a doctor. My doctor retired and Dr. Dykema was an option. Since seeing her, my thyroid is a mess, she has put me on and off pills for a year. My health is worse. I am going to see an endocrinologist after giving up on Dr.. Dykema. You will be constantly spending money to recieve labs results in person even when lab results are normal. She does not read your chart ahead of time even though I see her once a month she asks the same question, "Why are you here?" When I explain she then looks at the chart and says, "Your thyroid is still not functioning right" I was just there you would think she knows me by now. She spends about 5 minutes if that and off she goes. She does not care. Callous, cold doctor. Patients beware she does not treat cuts requiring stitches, remove stitches placed by hospital staff, muscle spasms and/or any other medical conditions outside of diet. If you want to be a vegan she is the doctor to go to. Her diet ideas are great.

It is very unpleasant experience for me to visit this office, i went three times and each time the doctor is impatient and can’t wait to get rid of me, she always walks in front of me, she does not want to hear my health issues and concerns, she has no respect for me as a patient, she just wants to see as many patients as possible without actually doing anything. The last time she sent me to do a 2nd blood test and when I came back for the results, she told me the lab did not do the test so she has to schedule another blood test for me, i took off work for the visit and all she got is: sorry, they didn’t do it, you have to go back. And they still charge me for the visit. I asked the receptionist why i am being charged for the doc not doing anything, she said it does not matter, you have to pay to see the doctor, it is ridiculous. I am never going back to this office and I would advise anyone looking for a real profession stay away from this place.

Had to wait longer than you should have to wait. Came in at 10am for a 10:15 appt. Filled out paperwork and waited until 10:45. Every other person there was called back, even people that came in after me. I'm sure that this is the norm in the most Dr's offices, but I'm tired of putting up with it. Every job I have ever worked in my life it has been expected of me to have good time management skills. I don't want to go to any Dr that doesn't consider my time important. As a new patient I am interviewing a Dr to give them a new client and bring them new business. I would never hire someone for a job if they showed up late to an interview. Maybe people should start looking at it that way and stop putting up with it. Dr. Dykema may be a really great Dr. I had heard a lot of great things that's why I went there but, I'll never find out now. Clinic was nice and clean. The staff very friendly. They just need to work on time management.

I ignored her cold-hearted office staff because I read she was supportive of plant-based diets & natural medicine. She drew my labs, told me they were the worst she's seen in over 30yrs (while frowning & staring at me as if I made my labs bad intentionally), told me I had to take 4 expensive supplements, never redrew my labs to check if they were improving, then wrote me a letter saying she can't be my doctor anymore I'm a retired critical care RN & have rarely seen a doctor as absent-minded. I had to remind her of my labs several times when she forgot they were off, remind her to check my ribs when they were broken, remind her to evaluate me after a car accident (which she still didn't do and told me to just see a chiropractor) She basically just wanted a patient to sit there, let her check their blood pressure, then move on to the next patient. Anything else was too hard and time consuming✌

  • Paige

Very clean and tranquil office, really kind staff (Tiffany is the sweetest receptionist I've encountered), and very little noise. You aren't kept waiting more than twenty minutes at most, but even if you are, there are plenty of interesting magazines to read, soft music, and a TV with live nature scenes. As for Deborah Dykema, she is a very kind, knowledgeable doctor. You can tell she really cares. Upon my first visit, she discovered what was wrong with me immediately and set to work with a treatment for my Iodine deficiency. Really engages with you personally, and you have plenty of time to ask questions and have things explained- it never feels like you're being rushed. I always feel like I have all the answers I need. If you're looking for a knowledgeable doctor who gives you customized attention and a professional, relaxing environment....definitely choose Dr. Dykema's office!

  • Olivia Garrison

If I could give zero stars, I would. Dr. Dykema is a disgrace. I went in to see Dr. Dykema after reading the good reviews. Her website touted personalized care. My first visit was basically 10 minutes of me telling her my symptoms and her ordering bloodwork. My followup was her doing a physical exam (during which she pressed on my lower abdomen and I told her it was painful), telling me my bloodwork looked fine and telling me I needed more exercise and a sauna. A month later I was in the ER for extreme lower back and lower abdominal pain. I was diagnosed with endometriosis, which has been the source of my body pain and fatigue. I found a pelvic specialist and will be having surgery next month. Don't waste your time going here. She doesn’t have any interest in you.

After one appointment this dr knew exactly what to look at. I have been suffering from severe anxiety, insomnia, hormonal issues, adrenal problems for over a year and Dr. Dykema pretty much solved them in one visit. I have a follow up in a couple months, but I think she finally hit the nose on what was giving me all my health issues. It’s so refreshing to finally have a dr who thinks outside the box and is up to date on health issues rather than the cookie cutter drs out there who just go off of what they learn in medical school. Seems nowadays the medical field is completely clueless on prevention of disease and want to bandaid everything. Not this dr. She knows how to truly help patients heal!

I went in to get my medical today and had my 6 month in tow. I waited patiently for about 20 minutes before the receptionist asked for my drivers license and payment. She then informed me that children were not allowed in office unless they have an apppointment, but that they would make an exception THIS time. So a family physician won’t allow a mother to bring her child? So I got my refund and left without my medical and now on the search for a doctor who is understanding that not everyone has family or care in a city they live in. It also sucks because I referred numerous pilots over the course of four years to her. What upsets me most is they told me after they ask for my money, classy.

  • S “sam” Malekpour

She is OK. She is kind of rude telling you of all the stuff she doesn't do. I went for a follow up after seeing someone else. I do like that they have a non medicine approach to somethings. I went back after they opened their new office and she was still kind of "stand offish". Plus, if you use your credit card, you are responsible for fees that the credit card charges the office. I think that is part of doing business and if you accept credit cards, you do that because you are pretty much guaranteed the money and so that is the little loss that you take. Their front staff was not pleasant at all. They just weren't very welcoming. So not a good experience overall.

I have been with dr. Dykema for over 12 years. She is good at what she does. She listens to me and then tells me what I need to do and as long as I follow her instructions I always feel better. She makes follow-ups as necessary. SHe is generally concern to keeping me well. I like the magazines in her office too, they teach me a lot. Sometimes I get a little upset LOL because I'm reading an article and then all of a sudden I have to go into her office. She believes in staying healthy herself and she wants the same for her patients. Kudos to you and your staff who keep a clean office and are very polite. Thank you for all You do.

  • Judy Thompson

I have been seeing Dr. Dykema for over 5 years. Her approach is positive and works. I appreciate her holistic approach to well-being. Be positive in everything you approach, eat properly, exercise properly, and rest properly. She believes in finding the root of the symptoms/problem, then you change what is necessary to get rid of the problem. She is unlike many physicians that whip out the script pad to mask the symptoms. Seeing her is a partnership that requires diligence and work at the onset, but soon your changes become habits and the payoff is incredible... living a healthy active life.

  • Joyce Cline

I wen to this doctor for a follow from the ER. Not having a primary doctor and found her on a trusted web site and having great success before. I went to her seeking information and help. all I got was a rushed and impatient look and advice I all ready knew. I had two visit and yet I found that I was still unable to get the help needed. I found better help somewhere else. Unlike the other review she did not take time to get To know me. I felt like I was talking to a wall and then sent on my way. She is exactly what her title is a Primary Care Physician no more no less.

  • BHoodie Fitness

Not sure why this woman became a physician. Maybe at some point in time she was caring and nurturing, but it certainly isn’t the case now. Before taking my mom there, I looked at the overall rating but I should have read the recent reviews. Very cold and uninterested in anything aside from getting appointments done in ten minutes or less and taking your money. If you ask to address more than one symptom you are pushed to come back another time. The bedside manner is the worst I’ve ever seen. A truly disheartening experience at best!

  • EVE SHRIE

Dr Dykema was suggested to me by a Nurse Practitioner. After checking the reviews it appears that several years ago more patients were really happy with her, I also noticed as time went on, 2019-20 etc many more patients have had negative experience with her. I understand MD burnout, but what about the care being given to the patients that put their trust in the md? She should be called to attention by someone other than a patient! Patients deserve better! I only hope she reads the why and the because for the patients to leave her!

  • Yevgenia Korovina

Most rude a dishonest Dr. I have ever met my entire life.Since my Mom's doctor retired we choose to go to Debra, mostly for blood pressure medicine, she collected $130 for a visit and then insurance paid it all, receptionist said that they will send us a check. Next visit they're asked for a payment again, when I asked receptionist about cost per visit she said $88, Debra was behind us all that time ,and suggested us to find another Dr. It is shame to have health practitioners like that

  • Jessi Fishman

Assigned this Dr by new insurance, made a new patient appointment, went in... In the new patient paperwork there is a waiting room rule agreement you have to sign stating no animals allowed. I questioned this as I have a service dog, they said even service dogs are not allowed. Filed a complaint with my insurance company and with the ADA. A REAL Dr would know that a service dog is medical equipment, and it's against the law to discriminate. Needless to say, I have a new better dr now!

  • Lyndsey K

Dr. Dykema is an incredible doctor. She is so passionate about her work, and it shows. Dr. Dykema is very knowledgable. I felt very safe in her care and that I could trust her. I've had a couple injuries that I had Dr. Dykema check out. She took her time asking questions to get to the root of the injury. Dr. Dykema would always leave me with homework, to help the recovery process. She is an excellent doctor and I would recommend her to anyone.

  • t. buckster

I just received another FAA medical done here. This office is great. They have a clean and comfortable facility combined with a professional and friendly staff. Scheduling is easy with plenty of times to choose. Dr. Dykema is a long-time pilot and physician who understands the importance of getting your medical certificate. I was in and out in less than an hour and always look forward to visiting their office. I highly recommend.

  • Brian Green

Dr Dykema emphasizes nutrition for healing, not pharmaceuticals. I visit her office regularly because that is also what I believe and she is a great help to me. She gives great advice on how I can improve my health. Short wait times in the office and she has always listened to my case - never a quick rush through the office like some doctors. However, for people that just want a pill - she might not be exactly to your liking.

  • Hannah Stark

Dr. Dykema was able to find the root of my symptoms and come up with an easy and inexpensive treatment plan within 2 visits. I felt listened to and that she respected my life choices while providing information on how I could improve my health in a general sense as well. Big plus, the office is environmentally conscious and friendly. Would recommend to friends and family and will be returning in the future.

  • Danny Lyons

She might have been a good Dr. at one point but what i saw is someone who set in her ways , old ways that is. Look at her out mail box when make an appointment on the waiting room rules , this info will come up a few times is what i mean. And once i said that i was taking another medication like Suboxone I got a cold shoulder, i think because of what its prescribed for.

  • Jim Cahill

I like the fact that she takes time with you. I have never felt rushed in the office. She also prefers to use more natural or holistic ways of helping you but if medication is called for she prescribes it. Tiffany at the front desk is always friendly and cheerful. They keep the office very quiet and calming. Definitely recommend her as a personal physician.

  • Kiran Kumar Pedapudi

Excellent Doctor. We are very Thankful to have Dr.Dykema. Dr. brought our Thyroid levels within the range in 3 months for our entire family. Dr. is very strict about diet and that helped us to follow the diet and to see positive difference in our day to day activities (metabolic ). We as a family strongly recommend Dr.Dykema.

  • Frankie Belva

If I could give this Doctor negative stars I would, she’s beyond rude and her bed side manner is by far the worst my family has experience. If you take any type of stimulant she will label you as drug addict. It says she’s a natural path, but prescribes synthetics rather than natural alternatives. Stray far away!!!

  • Cristian Ciubotaru

I want to say that I am really grateful for the staff at Dr. Deborah office. Always welcomed with a great attitude and professionalism which I appreciate. They accommodated my appointment even though was last minute. Thank you! If you are looking to get your aviation medical done you will be very much pleased. ☺️

Finally a Whole Foods Plant Based physician and close to my home AND takes BCBS! Excellent office staff, peaceful ambiance, and Dr. Dykema is extremely knowledgeable. We need more physicians that treat disease correctly. I love that she has patients watch Forks Over Knives.

Came in recently for my 1st class, and after researching the various AME's in the valley, I went with Dr. Dykema due numerous positive reviews. Highly recommended practice, Dr. Dykema is a top notch doctor and one of the sweetest women I've ever met.

  • K McMillan

Horrible experience with this DO. If you want to be rushed out the door with nothing more than a vegan diet recommendation you've found the right person. Personally, I don't plan to pay $150 a visit again to be told I can't be helped.

  • Marilyn A Cahill

Love both Dr Dykema and this office. Dr Dykema has such a commitment to helping her patients find a path to wellness. The office is thoughtfully designed to be relaxing and calm. The front office staff is professional and kind.

  • Scott Vaughn

Debra has great bedside manner. She likes to find the problem instead of just putting a bandaid on it with drugs. If you need to get in quickly Tiffany will do her best to squeeze you in. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
