Didn't even want to give them one star. I've read the same complaint below made by the gentleman left stranded with two daughters (one disabled) because he didn't know when he booked online that he had to have a credit card with £1500 available credit before they would release the car. I have also read the company's curt reply to this poor gentleman. They may as well have written "tough - your fault". But this happened to my husband last night. He was left stranded outside the airport with all his luggage and would have had no transport for his ten day break if he had not found another, more user- friendly hire company where the credit card was not necessary (and yes, he is still covered for a lot less than we would have had to pay on arrival). Like the other complainant(s), we also didn't notice there was a need for a credit card written in the (obviously very !) SMALL print when booking online. Common sense would tell you that this should be in LARGE, very noticeable print, but instead, it catches people unawares. And yes, it is very noticeable in the confirmation email, AFTER booking - when you think you already know what you've booked, and perhaps don't have time to go through it with a fine-toothed comb. My husband had taken cash and a debit card as he had already paid for his hotel, etc. He was also asked to pay for additional charges of which we were not aware. He arrived in Portugal thinking he had paid for car hire, but from what my husband was told, that wasn't the case, it's just some kind of additional insurance policy. The small print is exactly that - small print - because this company want you to think you're getting a great deal and inexpensive car hire, when all my husband got (after waiting an hour to be seen initially) was a lot of hassle and no car at the end of it !

Used Enjoy Car Hire to book a compact SUV (Renault Kadjar "or similar") at the EuropCar office at the airport in Naples, Italy. We were traveling with our 3 kids (two of them teenagers), so we wanted a large backseat. Our voucher showed that we'd owe 150€ for the car, plus whatever extras we needed. The EuropCar rep told us that we'd be getting an Audi A3, which she assured us would be too small in back to accommodate our kids. (According to the car dimensions, the backseat of the Audi is 4 inches narrower than the car we'd already booked.) She then offered us a Fiat wagon for an extra 100€. We ended up renting from another company for a higher price than we had originally budgeted to get the size of car we wanted. Two days later, I noticed a pending charge from EuropCar on my credit card, so I called Enjoy. The rep asked me to write a full account of what had happened. So I spent some of my vacation time doing that. EuropCar eventually dropped the pending charge from my card (I don't think Enjoy had anything to do with that). Then I asked Enjoy to refund the $11 reservation fee I had paid to that company, since EuropCar had pulled a bait and switch on us. Nope, the Enjoy rep told me, they had fulfilled their contract to us by securing us a car. And she maintained that the subcompact Audi was in the "same class" as the compact Renault. Obviously, it's not about the paltry $11 but about the fact that Enjoy steers its customers toward a disreputable rental agent and then treats the customers like it was somehow their fault. Would NOT use this company again.

Poor customer services and again using the defence of “Read the voucher” where any normal company would understand that if the voucher is unclear then maybe it should be made clearer. This is a fly by night company who are just a broker. They really couldn’t care less about customer service if they tried. Both support numbers failed and out of hours rang the support number and had possibly the rudest person answer ever. “If you don’t read the voucher then it’s not our fault.” Great help when asking where a rental check in desk is when your flight was delayed by half an hour which meant you were then out of hours. Then unsure if the rental car company will be open for business. Took a further 30 minutes wondering around the airport to find the place we were meant to be. Do your self a favour pay the extra and go to a big named brand as these are just cow boys. I have never understood companies that feel that treating their customers with utter contempt and a total lack of any form of respect is a valid business model. You can see even in the reply to the reviews that “read the voucher” is the standard go to response from this company. My advice avoid at all costs as it’s really not worth the hassle at the airport if you need any form of assistance from enjoyhirecar. If you REALLY want to enjoy hire car use anyone else!

If you want a trustworthy and cheap car rental abroad, do not use this service. My partner and I rented a car for 1 week to pick up from Kos airport. They seemed cheaper than their competitors and so we chose them. However, when we went to pick up our car, we were told that they required £800 holding deposit, despite already paying excess protection and free cancellation. We did not have £800 on us, after all, we went for a relatively cheap holiday and cheap car hire for a reason. We then left the desk whilst my partner contacted a family member to help with the £800. Once we had this, we went back to the desk, only to be told he had given our car away, and cancelled our hire. We then contacted the company to get our refund, only to be told that we were not entitled to a refund! We then contacted the company, who have argued back and forth over email, claiming that we cancelled the car, when as a matter of fact, we were trying to sort out funds for the £800 holding deposit. At no point did we cancel the car, they chose to cancel it. Not only did we not receive our refund, but we have had to pay over €40 for a taxi to get to our hotel, and €40 to get back to the airport. This company does not care about you, and they rob you. Do not use this company.

Used Enjoy Car Hire to pick up a 'Seat ibiza or similar' car from Malaga Airport. When we arrived at the airport the car hire firm (Europcar) said that all they had left to offer us was a Citreon C1! We said that this was not acceptable in the class that we'd paid for but they said they had nothing else so we'd have to take it up with Enjoy directly. We tried phoning Enjoy from the airport with no joy so had no choice but to take the car and try to deal with it later as we had to get to our accommodation at a certain time. We had 2 large suitcases which ended up on the back seats as the boot was non-existent. It was lucky that there was only 2 of us as we would not have got another person, even a child, in the vehicle. The average boot size for an ibiza is 355 litres and the C1 196 litres. I've tried to contact Enjoy with 3 emails to customer services to obtain a partial refund but they haven't replied to any of them - extremely unprofessional and unacceptable customer service. According to automobile websites, the C1 is a class A micro car and the Ibiza a class B city car so I don't see why we should be charged the same for these 2 vehicles. I do not recommended this firm if you want good service and good value! Will never use them again.

After nearly 2 years of dealing with covid restrictions, I took my family on holiday arriving in Croatia on Saturday 28th August. When arriving in Croatia we went to the car rental desk and the local agent informed us that the booking for car rental had been cancelled in June. I had a printed copy of my voucher and even logged in to enjoy travel to show the live voucher. However, this was not accepted by the local agent. To be very clear I did not cancel this reservation. Obviously, this was a very stressful and upsetting way to start our holiday. We then had to run around multiple car agents to book something else. The only one available had a beat-up old Skoda for 60 euros a day. This is not the car we were expecting and more than double the original cost of our booking. The total incremental cost of this issue is £350+ It is now 2 weeks after I raised this complaint and am just getting fobbed off with 'the manager dealing with this issue is unavailable' EnjoyTravel have to be one of THE WORST companies I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. Use them at your peril.

I find it rediculous that during a time where government mandates change by the day, this company seems to be focused on prying out money rather than stepping back and taking consideration of circumstances. We booked a car for this month but unfortunately a government mandate put our whole country in lockdown, forbidding all non essential travel. When we reached out to the company citing the exceptional circumstances, they refused to give us a full refund. We did not chose to cancel our trip- this was very clearly a "force major" situation due to COVID. We kept being redirected to company policy (which did not take into account force major scenarios) and when asking for reconsideration by management, were ignored several times until finally being told "there is nothing we can do". Really? We had other things like non refundable accomadation and trains fully refunded with no problems by companies who are compassionate with their customers. When times get better and travel is once again permitted, we will rebook our trip, but definately NOT with this company.

DO NOT USE !!!!!! I have booked the hire with this company, and it all seemed good, until the day i picked the car up. On line i have paid a advance and remaining balance was due upon collection. The collected amount was a lot higher than stated on the original invoice that was emailed to me on booking day. When questioned, the company representative stated that the difference was due to currency exchange rate difference and the company does not take any responsibility for it. So in essence once the advance is collected by them the couldn't care less of haw much you pay to a local supplier upon collecting the car. The car was severely overused, and only barely acceptable state of cleanliness. Lacked basic commodities like Bluetooth phone connection etc. By comprising other company i usually use their car is always at its best with high grade equipment on board. As for enjoy car hire...... cheap not always is that cheap Company's representative not responsive to emails in regards to the whole situation. Not ever will i use this company again!!!!!! 0 stars

Run Away ! It might be a cheap way to hire a car if you don't have any problem. My flight was delayed and when I arrived to pick up my car, The rental car had cancelled my booking telling me that it often happens with "Enjoy Car Hire" and I should hire directly from their Web site. I tried to call the phone number on the email confirmation but nobody was answering. You can only leave a voice message. And the emergency number was not working. I tried to explain all this to the customer service after all to be refund but they prefer believe their supllier than their own customer. It is the worst customer service ever talk to. They told me that all customer should read the terms and conditions. So if you are going to hire a car via this Web site, please read all the conditions and be sure to have no problem at all because they won't help you and they will keep your money.

This outfit is a greedy and unscrupulous 'agency' who will connect you with some of the worst car hire firms in foreign locations. They will then leave you to pick up the pieces once you are stuck there. Also, note that they will split their fees in order to make it difficult, or impossible, for you to recover all of your outlay using your credit card provider. Avoid them like the plague, and hire direct from an established and reputable hirer or you will regret at your leisure. Like the reviewer below, this was my worst ever car hire experience in 30 years' of hiring about 5 to 10 cars per year! I note the 'response from the owner' below, desperately pretending to sound like they care while hoping to diminish the impact of my review. We have spoken and you made it very clear that you couldn't care less!

If there was an option of no stars, that’s what I would give! I purchased the excess protection with them. When I arrived at the autoclick office they told me that I had to pay a holding deposit on a credit card. They did not accept American Express and neither would they accept a debit card. This is not made clear upon booking. I’ve hired cars many times all around the world and never had this issue. As such they said the only way I could take the car was to purchase their insurance which cost an extra €124! I tried to call enjoy car hire and no one answered. I had to take the insurance as I needed the car. I have then contacted enjoy car hire various times to at least ask for the money back I paid them for excess protection and they haven’t even responded. Very very disappointing !!

  • Fred Hipkiss

Enjoy Car Hire sourced a car for me in Portugal - they also sold me insurance which I didn't fully understand. Admittedly, had I read all the small print and taken time to study the detail then the product was fully described - but the upshot was when I arrived to pick up the car I was required to put 3,000 Euros on deposit. However, the rental company offered it's own insurance at similar cost without the need for any deposit. The car was a 6 year old battle scarred banger, which at £400 for the week, seemed cheap when booking, I guess you only get what you pay for. In future I will avoid using brokers and go directly to the hire company. On complaining to Enjoy Car Hire - I pretty much got a "go swivel" response. So I would advise to "proceed with caution" with this Company

  • Jay Jamieson

Rented a car through this company and paid for additional insurance. The car provider was RightCars and after hiring the car i was told i would get the deposit back after 21 days. It wasnt until 2 months later i recieved a part payment and after contacting both companies numerous times Enjoy told me they had kept 250 euro due to a scratch on the car. I have a video before and after rental that shows no such scratch. I took additional insurance with Enjoy anyway and they are asking me to contact rightcars directly to get the damage report (the damage they advised me of as i am unable to contact RightCars). I am now stuck STILL getting no response from RightCars and Enjoy unwilling to help even though they have the damage report. Avoid this company like the plague!

  • Marius Uzea

Worst experience ever... Disgusted with their unlawful insurance policy. They don't tell you before booking that you MUST have a CREDIT card. I paid them with Visa debit and then, with 2 girls (one severely disabled) I couldn't hire my car because the rental company needed to block a certain amount as a deposit. So I ended up spending almost an hour, after a long flight, to fix this by buying a very expensive full comprehensive insurance (half of my annual UK insurance) just to get the f... car and go. When I tried to cancel this, the customer service told me that there's no refund. UNLAWFUL, any purchase must have a refund policy. Anyway, I already spent too much of my time on them. Will not be hiring with them ever again, STAY AWAY to avoid disappointment...

I have used this company three times at three different locations (Faro, Thessaloniki and Palma) within the last 2 years. I have never had a problem and everything has always been fine. Yes, because they use [much] cheaper but off airport site companies, you do have to physically find the hire company rep but so far, this has been straightforward for me (I could always pay a lot more and go for an on airport site company). Yes, _every_ company requires a Credit Card deposit but this is actually normal practice with reputable companies and not a problem of Enjoy. My only regret is that they do not service some other countries further afield where I travel otherwise I would have used them more often. As it is, I will most certainly use them again where I can.

  • Francisco Martínez Saso

After happily paying the deposit of the car with my debit card, got to the car hire office to be denied it as I don't own a credit card (nowhere in the booking process is this pointed out). As a result I was to paid double of the money for the same vehicle, that just in the case I pass an online credit check, which for some reason nobody explained me I didn't, no matter I have never had any payment delayed or I have enough savings to buy the whole car. As a result the holidays with my partner were completely ruined. I din’t help to the situation the fact that a family that arrived at the car hire office as the same time as we did went through the same hell, being denied the car they had already booked. Worst experience ever, avoid like pest!

  • Brian Bower

Can't fault the experience but bear in mind Enjoy is a broker not the actual hire company. Chose a car for 2 week holiday in Cyprus based on size, transmission requirement and hire company reviews in trip advisor. Oddly enough I was directed to the Sixt desk (not my chosen company) with some trepedation as I had read some bad reviews about them. Just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything you read. No pressure selling on excess insurance. The car was just as requested. The agent spotted two minute dents that I couldn't see at first. On return a cursory inspection only and a friendly goodbye. Can't fault either Enjoy or Sixt. Would use again (if we every get the chance to travel again that is).

  • Ellie Jones

I would recommend this company as a search engine but not for actually booking cars. Due to the lack of specific details given to me by Enjoy Hire about the car company I was booking with through Enjoy Hire, I was almost caught out, e.g. Enjoy told me I just needed a credit card for the insurance deposit, but the car company state they only take certain credit cards. Secondly, the insurance cover I bought with Enjoy was not as good as the one that the car company themselves offer as it did not remove the need for a hold on my credit card. Overall, my experience with Enjoy was ok but in the future I will use them to find the best deal and then go to the car company directly.

  • Ayman Samy

Who ever wants to use their service, please be aware of the payment options and conditions as there are many odd conditions that not obviously clear on their website you may discover later!!!!!!!! Their customer service is not that great as what we may used to have from other companies. For example, if you did a mistake because you missed one condition or so, no one will stand with you or try to assist you like big companies such as Booking, TripAdvisor, Amazon, eBay.... etc who more cares about keeping their customers happy. They will only concern to proof it's your mistake without providing assistance just to keep the deposit for themselves.

  • Raymond Boyd

This is the worst car rental I have ever experience. You pay extra for insurance and still get charged a high figure when you pick up the car at Easirent in Bristol. Contract stated they collect you at airport just phone when you arrive. No they don't they tell you to walk. Contract stated you get your fuel tank full and return full. No they don't my car was under a quarter full. Had to wait an hour and a quarter to get served initially and had to wait on them cleaning a car for the people in front of me I will never use them ever again as the service and not sticking to what's written in their contract was abismal

  • Sunita Khan

selected as the most competitive price. was impressed that they had a UK contact phone number that was answered quickly both times I called. I needed to amend my booking and this was done swiftly and easily. The actual car hire in Portugal was great, quick collection and getaway with non pushy staff (SurPrice). The car was lovely and suited us. on drop off the shuttle bus was already there and the car was checked over immediately. We were on the shuttle bus within minutes, whilst our the car was checked over and confirmed all was good. Deposit returned in full within days. Thank you!

  • Adr Enalin

Total scam. If ai could give a negative star I would. We rent cara every 2-3 months and this is the first time this happens with us. Enjoy Car, who is the intermediary, doesn’t intervene if you have issues with the local car rental company. We paid full insurance with Enjoycarhire but when we arrived at the local car company they said we needed to pay again the insurance which tripled our price! So we could not take the car at the agreed terms and conditions. No support whatsoever by Enjoy car hire, the even refused to intervene to get our 10% advance payment back.

  • Oliver Good

I received an appalling experience from Enjoy Car Hire. Their website put me in touch with Olecar at Madrid Airport, but when I arrived the vehicle they promised simply wasn't there, and neither was a replacement car. It caused my group hours of delays and then close to £200 more to rent the car we needed elsewhere. I also want to note that Olecar failed to offer appropriate compensation for the mess they caused. Despite weeks and weeks of emailing back and forth, they eventually offered only a 25 Euro voucher! Avoid Enjoy Car Hire and Olecar at all costs!

  • Vanessa Beckford

Worst customer service and misleading fees. “Excess protection” is a waste of time as the actual rental company will charge you for actual insurance again anyway. This is just a two bit broker making your online booking and getting any extra fees off the top that they can. Go direct to the car hire company to book your rental! I booked through enjoy a month ago and have sent countless emails, yet they are still unable to locate my invoice and I have received no useful correspondence from them.

  • Andy Moore

Avoid! We booked a car hire from Shannon Airport for £80, and also selected the 'Excess Protection Plus'. Upon arrival, we were told that they had no record of our payment and that we were also not protected so would need to pay AGAIN in order to be covered. After leaving my credit card details, I was charged a total of £260+ for a 4 day hire, which I was told would be more like £80. I have been scammed and no emails have been responded to. Please do not fall into the same trap I did!

  • Cátia Silva

Worst experience ever. It was easy to book however they work with very bad car rental partners which at the end they charged ridiculous amount for little marks that they found in the car and they made me filled paperwork that I needed to claim the money back because I paid the excess fee with enjoycar hire. When I returned I sent emails with all paperwork work to claim the money back and they never replied ...Please don't use this company it's a nightmare

  • Jeremy Risebrow

Very pleased I got our car hire here. Initially wary of hiring away from actual airport, but the 7 minute transfer followed by incredibly efficient service by the staff meant we were on our way far faster than we have been with many “big name” companies I’ve used in the past. Returning car was just as good. Met by someone who checked it over. Minibus back to terminal within 5minutes. Will certainly be getting quotes here again!

  • DR N

Everything went well. Booking the car I wanted and getting the voucher was easy. On arrival, I was very pleased with the Nissan Juke I was given and its condition. I liked the full/full arrangement for petrol. The booking voucher was with Alamo but the rental was actually with Enterprise as they work in partnership at our destination airport. Emma at the counter was very professional and helpful. No hesitation to use again.

  • Paolo Drusi

Rented a car through them to find out there was no car available at pick up point. Responded to my first email asking to provide documentation of the cancellation of the rental, which I did. Not responding since then and deposit not refunded. Holiday ruined for 7 people, all deposits of bookings for accommodations and ferry lost. Had to open a dispute with my bank to attempt to get the money back. Avoid at any cost.

  • Mark Williams

You'll think you have got a good price and the confirmation will say inclusive of taxes but be warned you'll be hit with a 20% VAT in the UK which they do not warn you about. it seems to me they deliberately have made this seem like it is included in the price already. --Update: A couple weeks later Enjoy Car hire managed to contact Europcar and they have corrected the booking. Changed to 4* from 2*

  • Elma Harbison

First time using ECH for car rental. Price was very competitive and picked car up from Enterprise St Pancreas. Getting car was a little slow but car was great, customer service was good and no issues. My deposit has been refunded so would book again with ECH. Everything was very clear in ordering. Experience was just as good if not better than if i went direct through enterprise or another company

  • Roger Thurston

I have used Enjoy Car Hire exclusively for many years now and they always delight. They are very competitive price wise and I trust them from experience. They are UK based so easily contacted, responding promptly in a personal and helpful way. Their policies on fuel charges are excellent and I have not been disappointed with the cars or the pick-up and drop off arrangements.

  • Rob

Enjoy car hire aren't the problem, it's the crooks they match you up with that are the problem. Reply: Perhaps I didn't make myself clear, Enjoy are in themselves a decent company unfortunately they promote and actively deal with dishonest car hire firms of which they are fully aware are dishonest, such as Goldcar and Interrent which have both conned me out of money.

  • Evelyn Evelyn

I have hired cars through Enjoy car hire several times and never been disappointed. The booking experience has been quick and efficient and the agents of the car hire firms honest and helpful. That has not always been my experience with other more well-known car hire firms. The cars I have hired have been great and the value excellent.

  • Paulo Semedo

I have been renting with enjoy car hire, if not mistaken, for the past six years. Always the better prices and no hidden fees. Everything you need to know is upfront. No surprises. They are honest company. Only thing I could say is, they need to evolve. They need to have a system where we can have a online account. Other that all good.

  • hannah s

They deal with really dodgy car rental companies who make false claims and charges to your card. In my case they sneakily charged £385 for no reason (apparently they claimed I abandoned the car and lost the keys?). Enjoy didn't seem bothered by this situation. In future I'll just pay the extra to book with a reputable company.

  • Chris Hartley

Worst experience. These guys are con-men. Booked a rental car and the quoted price was less than 1/3 of the actual cost presented to me at the airport. Complained when I returned, and a rude customer services representative offered no support and accused me of failing to present a credit card for the deposit.

  • Max Harrison

As someone who travels across mainland Europe frequently, my first stop is always to the Enjoy Car Hire website for rental cars. A great, friendly and helpful team are always on standby to assist me with my needs. To top that, they offer extremely competitive rates with a list of top suppliers. Five Stars!!!

  • Football Striker

Pathetic service, they advertise cheaper deals, but once back from holiday and after being ripped off by the local company for slight damage to the car they just said 'we cannot process your claim'. I would say if you need to hire a car book elsewhere with more reputable companies

  • Hilary Woodruffe

Enjoycarhire gives me very competitive prices for my car hire abroad. I travel frequently in Europe and when my plans change, it is easy to cancel a booking and make a new one in a new location. The refund is back on my credit card within days. I happily recommend using them.

  • Cristian Chapacu

We couldn't pick up a car due to a missinfomed agent at the pick up point. But the problem is that the customer service of enjoy car rental used all type of nonsense excuses to avoid giving us a refund on the reservation fee. So disappointing.

  • CJ Cjtrooper

Invoice email confirming total hire price left having paid the deposit was not the price I paid for at the rental desk upon collection. I had to pay alot more. There reason was "oh thats the third party car hires charges nothing to do with

This is a worthless company that i´ll never use again. And yes, i was endlessly careful about extra insurances wich i took and conditions, I´ve read it all. The company acted as some kind of broker for another rental company. The actual

Went through from skysanner search for an estate car. Came up with a Renault Megante Estate/Wagon which I booked. Once I completed the booking and paid the deposit, the confirmation email and voucher was for a much smaller and cheaper

Awful experience!! We booked online (car + insurance). We were told that there are troubles with my credit card. We double checked and it was perfectly fine, but as it still didnt work we went to the local company and paid for the car

  • Alison Richards

Absolutely disgusted with their policies. They don't tell you before you book that you need to have a credit card. I paid them with visa debit and then couldn't hire my car. So I ended up paying them £2.60 for something they couldn't

Used this company to hire a car from Munich Airport through Buchbinder. Having read lots of poor reviews, I was a bit wary, however I needn't have been. From start to finish, it was so easy. The communication with Enjoy Car Hire was

  • Stefano Lucchini

The worst in 10 years of renting car (twice at year). Stay away. They offer a cheap full insurance but in reality they know that you have to give a high sum deposit caution for a dirty and in poor maintanaince conditions car.

Simply great value and service. A car hire system that I feel I can trust. After five years, using various agencies, all booked through Enjoy car hire, I
