Great experience during pick-up - the agent was friendly and gave us a free upgrade. He did not check the vehicle thoroughly but I could care less because we purchased the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) anyway. Returning the car was also easy, and the agent who did the walk-around told us no damages were found and that we were good to go. Problem was an hour after the return, we received a phone call saying they had found a large crack in the windshield and asked us various questions regarding the damage that apparently no one was aware of until an hour after our return. We certainly were not aware of such damage before, during, or after our rental. Moreover, agents who would have checked the vehicle after the rental before ours, before our own rental, and after our rental period did not see such damage. Upon realizing that we had purchased the CDW, the agent wrapped up the call, but we were curious to know what the damage looked like. We asked the agent to send us photos but he told us the car had already been sent elsewhere and that he would send us the photos on Monday when the car returns to the branch. At this point, we became skeptical of the existence of the damages we were accused of causing during our rental. We called back on Monday, and the agent who talked to us told us the car had still not been returned to this branch and that whoever talked to us on Saturday was not working at the moment. I had not mentioned the name of the agent who we had talked to two days ago so it just made us more doubtful of this entire incident. I asked to talk to his manager, who explained that the car was being rented out and that he would send the pictures to us the next day morning. It could be just us, and maybe the large crack in the windshield did indeed happen during our rental. But even then, I just don't understand why requesting a picture of the damage on the vehicle that they should constantly be keeping track of is so difficult or how it could possibly take days to do. I will update this review again tomorrow accordingly depending on whether we do receive the photo of the damage and whether the extent of damage makes sense reflecting on our rental experience. I will give 2 stars for the great rental experience until 1 hour after return. EDIT: We did receive the photos and it is possible that the damage went unnoticed during the walk-around after the return. Manager seemed sincere and was quick to respond. Updated star rating to 3.

These people care more about money then they do about retaining loyal customers. We recently rented a vehicle from them over the Christmas holidays(December 2021). Over that time period we saw some family that had cats. Some of the cat hair transferred to the vehicle (very minimal along the side of the seats). Upon returning the vehicle they told us there would be an additional detail fee of >$100 do to the pet hair. Even though the vehicles should be vacuumed between guests. Although receiving dirty vehicles is nothing new for this location as we have had to ask for them to clean the vehicle “again” before taking it off the lot. It seems that others have also experienced a similar thing judging by previous reviews. Anyways, the fee would have maybe been understandable if not for the other 3 concessions we had to make with them prior. 1. When we received the vehicle it only had 3/4 of a tank of gas (which was noted) but we brought it back with a full tank to be nice since there aren’t many convenient gas stations near by. 2. The windshield had a chip in it and we were worried it could splinter further but there were no other vehicles they could give us. They didn’t even try to make other arrangements. Thus we were stuck taking that vehicle or having nothing at all which wasn’t an option. 3. They gave us a vehicle without a block heater or battery blanket in -30C weather. There were some days over our rental period were the vehicle would barely start do to the cold, thus we would have been paying for a non working vehicle. We have rented from them multiple times over the past few years so to be treated this way after trying to be respectful and loyal customers is appalling. This location used to be great and a joy to work with but not anymore. I hope they are happy losing loyal customers for the extra few hundred dollars they got from us.

If only I can post this review with zero star, but I can't! I borrowed a car last Feb.10th and returned the vehicle after hours on Saturday, Feb. 16th at 3pm at the King Edward branch. I got charged 2 extra days (until Feb. 18th). A guy (my fault for not paying attention to the name) that I talked to on the phone called the King Edward branch and apparently "SOMEONE" did inventory on Sunday morning and the car was not there... How did that happen??? They were saying that I returned the vehicle Monday, Feb. 18th. So this guy from the Ellice branch asked me on the phone if I WAS SURE THAT I RETURNED THE VEHICLE ON SATURDAY. Is he saying that I am lying??? Because it sounded like it. I told him that I have a video of when I returned the vehicle with the time and the date so i can prove this anytime of the day. The guy from Ellice said that he will refund me the 2 days that was overcharged. I asked him how much would they be returning to my account. He said he can't tell yet because he still need to calculate to make sure they were not overcharging me. So today (almost a week later), I haven't seen any refund yet. So this guy just lied straight to my face, he did not do the refund at all. That's why he couldn't tell me how much he would be returning to me! He is such a liar!!! It will only take a couple days for it to show up on my credit card and it has been almost a week and it is still not there. Whoever I talked to last Feb. 27th at around 1 pm should be retrained, or maybe not, since you cannot train people to be credible and trustworthy. Very disappointing and terrible experience!!! I will warn friends and family about this company!!! I Will not rent a car from this company ever again!!!

Sometime last month I had called to reserve a car. Somehow, they mixed up the days. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was very, very rude. He kept saying I was a "no call no show", so for that reason. He had no car till the next week (and this reveration I made was after waiting a week). After an unsatisfying conversation the Enterprise agent proceeded to keep talking. Not realizing that he did not hang up the phone. He was mimicking me and the conversation we just had. Being very rude and sarcastic. I was saying "hello, hello, I'm still on the phone". I proceeded to call this location again from a different phone (as this was on my cell phone). And a lady named Kinga answered the phone. I explained the situation to her. All this while, still on the phone as they had not hung up. In these times post covid with so many people that have gone thru major crisis in their lives -death, job loss, loss of homes, terminal illness, divorce etc. Why would some employee be so intentionally rude and ignorant? Just because in the course of my day, in the process of me renting a car our paths happened to cross? What happened to customer service? What happened to service with a smile? What prompted me to leave this review is this incident, plus today again I tried to rent a car. I had tried calling this office for about an hour. After waiting a few minutes (10-15mins, someone would pick up and then hang up. I called again and again and this happened 3x at least. I started calling from about 1pm, of course no one answered, and by 2pm the office was closed. I have never left a Google review before. But, something needs to be done about the customer service aspect in this branch.

Do not suggest it anymore if you do not have time to check every detail yourself and negotiate with them. We have been enterprise costumers for years and we rented car from Winnipeg downtown branch after we moved to the area. The management used to be great and we never had any problem. They tried to explain everything to any costumer and talk to everyone patiently. Unfortunately my experience in this place for the last two month was awful and I can't believe that they are still part of Enterprise Co. Each time we rented a car, we had different problems. Downgrading the reserved car without any reasonable explanation, empty fuel tanks while they claimed they were full, deducting money more than the agreed amount, etc. Each time we have to check car tank ourselves and go ask them to come and check it! We have to call several times for other problems and no one answers the phone! I really don't understand how they could fall from that excellent type of business to such a horrible annoying one. They are removing trust from their business and we should be careful about their mistakes. If you don't like to waste your time with stupid things and useless negotiations, go for other options in downtown Winnipeg.

After renting from Enterprise for year's this was the worst experience I have ever had renting a car. We booked a Chrysler 300 or similar online. They accepted the reservation for a premium full-size vehicle. They called in the morning to inform us that they would have to switch us to an SUV which was fine as we thought it would be similar in size. When we arrived to pick up the lot was empty except for a compact car. When we went inside the attended told us that a Toyota Highlander was being brought in for us. We checked the size and where satisfied. They took payment. Then as soon as it was processed the attended informs us the Highlander is for another client and the compact car outside was the only vehicle they had to offer. They charged us for a full-size premium car and tried to give us a compact!!!!! This was ridiculous. We then had to waste three hours to try and find another vehicle from another company which was super difficult as it's Thursday before a long weekend. Terrible service, a total bait and switch and no offer to make it right or help on a return visit. I am extremely disappointed.

Super friendly staff go out of their way to look after you. I do have a beef with the decision made by Corporate to have both fobs for a car linked together with a steel cable which cannot be opened. The customer loses any benefit of two fobs (e.g.one for one person, the other for the spouse ) and additionally is inconvenienced by having a bigger lump of fobs they have to jam in their pocket or purse. Imagine going to a hotel, asking for two cards and they give them to you glued together?! I understand why Enterprise does it it - if they keep the fobs separately and have to move a car to the Podunk branch they have to track down both fobs . BUT (and this is the TED Talk portion of my rant) this is a decision being made to make the company's operation easier while inconveniencing a customer. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

I booked a car two weeks before, I called them to confirm my booking and they said it was okay, and 2 days before taking the car, they just sent an email to say that finally they won't work the day I planned to rent the car because it was a public holiday. Like if they did not know it when I booked the car 2 weeks ago. And finally, when I came to take the car one day before the planned date, their system did not accept my credit card because it was an international card. We tried 3 different cards and it never worked, and the manager did not do anything to help us, he did not care. Our credit cards work everywhere, but not in their company apparently. It worked perfectly in another car rental by the way ;) dont go there !

I've got my rental car for just 4 days, I can say it was my fault that I didn't check the car for my self coz I was in hurry and the guy just made a quick walk around started the car and I've jumped to drive to my work place. Then they've told me there's a little damage and it's look like someone vandalized the car so I've to pay the damage. I was probably just driving between home and work and yet they can't provide any prove that the car didn't have the damage before I picked up, it's just weird. Now after a month I've got an invoice indicating that I've to pay 650 for claims they're money grabbers!! I'll never recommend to anyone for enterprise. I really feel ripped off.

Used to go to another Enterprise location in the city. One day only vehicle the other location had needed an oil change (i was going on a long drive) so they called up Ellice and told me to go there. Was a bit of a pain but only a 10 minute drive so was fine to do so. Got my car from Ellice and was on my way. Returned car a few days later and without me even asking gave me a discount for the original inconvenience. Really unexpected and haven't forgot that. Have rented from Ellice location ever since - lots of vehicles and always get vehicle class I rented (important when you need a fuel efficient vehicle). Always quick to get everything sorted and friendly staff.

I got a rental here because my insurance covered it and they said they would handle everything with mpi. But when mpi didn't approve the payments for the car instead of calling me to let me know they decided to charge 800$ to my credit card without letting me know and I had no idea mpi didn't approve the payments. I found out almost a week later after I seen the 800$ charge to my credit card. after mpi did approve the payments and paid them it took them over a week to put the 800$ back onto my credit card. Vary unprofessional place to deal with.

Folks there are pleasant and professional, but what's this 1/2 tank of gas thing? Picked up a car to travel to Brandon for the day. First stop was a gas station (in the rain) , then fuel management all the way to Winnipeg with requisite calculation of how much gas to put in. Ridiculous. Oh yeah, if they say Toyota Yaris or equal on the phone, you may end up with a Mitsubishi Mirage. I didn't know anyone rented those city-only cars. The staff courteousness cannot make up for the 1/2 tank rule and the Mitsy. First time Entreprise "let me down".

No one picks up the phone and no one responds to voicemails. I Callled to rent a car as I was in an accident and lost the use of my car. I was forwarded to what sounded like a call centre, they took all my info and said the actual rental place would call me back with more details on when I can pick up the car. No one called me back even hours later. When I tried to call the store front, no one answered, I left a voice mail..again no one called me back. I then tried to call the call centre and no one picked up the phone there.

I've been using the enterprise @ 283 Ellice Ave for over 10 years and watched many staff and managers come and go. What hasn't changed in all this time is the SUPERB level of service. These folks have consistently gone out of their way to make sure I am taken care of and that my experience is always top notch. That's not an easy thing to do when you're one of the busiest locations in the city - so hats off to the Ellice team for a job well done. I'll be back again and again and recommend this location to anyone and everyone.

Horrible customer service, 999 king Edward location. I phoned earlier to pick up a car, being black friday. Took me a bit longer. Arrived at about 18:45, one person working which was occupied with another customer, but when he finished with that customer he decided to shut all lights off without saying a word ( really weird) then when I told him I was there to rent a car he just open the door for me to leave, with no explanation or anything and locked it up like as if i was a disease. .. nice .. thanks for nothing.

I have rented 3 cars here with no issues, last time when I was returning the car (which had their own insurance), they found some issue with the front window and the guy called the manager which misgendered me 2 times knowing my name and have being corrected to tell my that I had an issue with the window just for me to tell them that I had insurance. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND HUMILIATION I'm never going to rent a car here again. This happened Monday 13th after 3:30 PM.

Switched to this branch since it is closer to my home. Quick, friendly, straight-forward employee. I had a bit messy plan for hiring two vehicles consecutive (small one for shopping day, and a big sedan for road trip the following day). Instead, he offered me to merge them and gave me an upgrade to a SUV, lengthened the rental time, all of which were at the same price. I am satisfied with the service, absolutely will come back.

Absolutely Horrible Customer Service. The man on the line is completely disrespectful and condescending towards customers. He tried to lie to me after inquiring about misinformation I was given. I needed a vehicle for a family emergency to pick up a family member in Saskatchewan. Now I do not know where I am going to go to rent a vehicle after this terrible experience. I tried booking a loss of use vehicle here through an MPI claim. Although they told me over the phone that they could provide a comparable vehicle as this rental would replace a minivan, upon arrival they told me that the van would not be provided unless I paid an extra 20 to 60 a day despite it being listed online at under 40 a day total price. I would recommend avoiding this branch and renting somewhere else.

If there was an option for a negative star rating thats what I would have selected.The assistant manager at the ellice location is probably the most ridiculous so called professional I have ever had to deal with. Pick any other car rental company and if they are the only ones with a car left in the whole city take a bus,rent a cab hitch hike but do not rent from this company.

I always rent from here and not just because they are close by. The staff are very professional but also very friendly and helpful, I rent about once a month and they know me by name and always meet my special needs. Nothing but good thing to say about this location, they also are open 7 days a week as early as 7:30am to as late as 6:00pm. (shorter hours on weekends).

Just don’t do it… in the end you’ll save time and frustration by going to a bigger branch that actually controls the rentals and doesn’t over commit on reservations, car seats, car size, etc. Don’t risk booking here if you have plans and can’t afford to wait all day for a returned or cleaned car. I vote the airport or King Edward St. locations. Good luck!

I rented a vw tigun from them car was not clean from inside lot of animals hair i have to clean it because i dont like animal hairs and i parked the car in my garage and oil was leaked in my brand new garage,,, so now am pouring coke on it to clean it. The staff at this location are excellent - always super friendly and professional. My one complaint is that about half of the vehicles I rent only have partial tanks of gas when I pick them up, which can make it a pain to refuel before returning.

Service was good but... The insistence on charging $17.99 a day for insurance when MPI rental insurance is $1.99 a day is kinda silly. I informed another customer of this during my visit and was encouraged to leave. Not a good policy. :)

Make sure you photo document any and all damage to the ride they give you before you accept it and leave the lot. Renting out 3 year old cars that are scratched and keyed and then questioning the renter on return where the damage came

I came here all the time to rent a car for weekend trips. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable and the prices are great. Do yourself a favour and get some day insurance from MPI for 25$, great savings compared to the dealer's.

This is a convenient downtown location. The prices here were much better than at the airport. They do have limited hours on the weekend and are very busy when they first open. But the staff were helpful, quick and efficient.
